I enjoyed reading Marilyn and Jesse story.
The Deal is the third book in the Manhattan Nights series, it could be read as a standalone but I really recommend you to read the previous ones too.

Marilyn, an Hollywood actress, and Jesse, a lawyer, met at a party years ago, they instantly felt a burning chemistry but they chose to ingnore it because it was too complicated for Heath's best friend to pursue his little sister.
Now years later they meet again in Manhattan and they find out they didn't forget their feelings for each other but their future is still uncertein.
Will their deal save their careers or will it complicate things further?

I am looking forward to the next novel in this series.

Another insanely good read in the Manhattan Series from Natalie, The Deal stars the one and only Marilyn Daniels and her long time crush and brothers best friend /law partner Jesse Somerset.
Marilyn is a feisty Hollywood star and man I do mean feisty, you can bet your best pair of Doc Martens on that one, she's left LA and fled back to the safety of Manhattan after a few questionable selfies are leaked to the press by someone who hacked her phone. There while evading the paps and catching her breath the first person she runs into happens to be Jesse. Her manager Kayla is freaking out, her brother doesn't know she's in town yet and she's trying to keep a low profile until Brett and Elsie's wedding that weekend. Marilyn is the one girl that Jesse has never forgotten and while the story unfolds due to some pretty wild twists and turns find themselves fake engaged while each working through some pretty wild plot twists and I for one had some serious whiplash with a couple of those gems so cleverly written. Jesse too has his own problems he's up against along with battling his attraction to Marilyn and between the two of them I think his designer set of baggage outweighed hers.
Marilyn was my hero through this incredibly twisted, suspenseful story and I loved to watch her maneuver her way through her rough spots. The chemistry between she and Jesse was incendiary and sparking hot. While this was definitely Marilyn and Jesse's book, there are several well woven subplots that will keep you glued to your kindle. I loved seeing the whole cast of characters from the previous books, yet works so well as a standalone. Too well. This is one wild ride to read, so jump in and buckle up for this beauty. You won't want to put this down! Definitely a keeper.

I really enjoyed this book! I felt as if the author has set up the majority of the characters in this series by now and the book flowed a little easier than the prior two.

I really liked how the story progressed and we were able to get insights in to both characters:

Marilyn: We know from previous books is a close friend of Brett, sister to Heath, Hollywood Wild Child, and basically owns everything. The reader was able to get a much more detailed and in depth look, which I have to say I think that Marilyn is definitely my favorite leading lady in the series now!

Jesse: This guy is like a freaking modern day Robin Hood. Series readers found out in the prior that this guy was Heath's best friend and went to Harvard with him and takes pro bono cases. Seriously, a freaking great guy. We come to find out he is also NOT looking for a commitment and has a little issue with being obsessed with his best friend's little sister.

A LOT goes down in this book, but I really enjoyed it and think you will too! 4 outta 5 stars!

PS: I received a free copy of this book, but am voluntarily reviewing it!

"He gazes pointedly at me, and I feel more exposed than I've ever been. Stripped. Bared."

One of the worst written stories I have read in a long time. Constant referral to major secrets. Amazing lead up to a part in a story then reference to a secret and end of scene. This happened all the way through. Was so annoying… I couldn’t get into the characters because of this. When the secrets are finally revealed they are nothing. Even in the story Its like a paragraph then nothing.

What an amazing and beautiful story!

I laughed,
I teared,
I cried,
I snorted right along with Kayla!

But my point is that Jesse and Marilyn blew me away! Their secrets, their lies and their half truths all of it was exactly what made them uniquely them! And it was the second chance for them to get it right even if they didn’t get it right away! Jesse and Mare had their demons to fight, but even if their engagement was fake Jesse wanted to fight right along with Marilyn and actions speak louder than words even if words are spoken loud as heck and do unintended damage.

Jesse and Mare-Bear were End Game and that’s all a girl wanted!!!

I thought Heath was going to be my favorite in this series. Well, his sister, Marilyn, just took over that title. She's a fighter!
This book was filled with secrets and angst and it took an emotional turn for Marilyn that I wasn't expecting but it made her become relatable and lovable to me, the reader.
Both characters have issues with their pasts and self-doubts that they try to overcome with their own vices. Who knew that what they really needed was each other?
This book sucked me in from the very beginning. EVERYTHING about this book had me glued - the forbidden romance, the secrets, the tension, the sex scenes, the turmoil. It ALL made an amazing story!

This is the third book in a series, and is a best friend's little sister book. Marilyn, the heroine, is a successful actress until a decision she made in the past, blows up in her face. The hero, Jesse, an up and coming attorney swoops in to the rescue. The chemistry between them is something to behold. Overall, this was a good book.

I think the story had potential but left many topics unfinished...
I never understood what happened 5 years ago, they spent the night together but she was dressed differently and he supposedly didn't know it was her??? Yet at the beginning it seems that she calls him to come and pick her up (when probably he was sleeping with a girlfriend) so confusing. Maybe it's explained in book 2 or in another book? As the night happened in one of her brother's infamous parties. And he said at some point that he has lied so much to this woman from that night, so what did he promise her??🤷
And who is Evelyn????
Of course he is dating and sleeping around to get over her because -even if he doesn't know they already shared a night of passion- he was always in love with her... She seems to have an active love life but nothing that reaches his debauchery 😉😋

Great Story!

I enjoyed this second chance romance so much. Everyone has their own drama to work out and what better way to do that than with your childhood crush. The characters were great as well as the storyline.
The narration was absolutely fantastic!!
This is book 3 with an HEA and can be read as a standalone.
I highly recommend this book.

Tattooed hotness

Marilyn's story finally. She is wild and outspoken but also shy, tentative and serene in private. Jesse is driven, hard and downright stuffy but also charming, tender and caring when needed. They are both secretly hot for each other. And both have tats. Hot.

DNF -Made me very uncomfortable

Her nudes got leaked and he was looking at them on the internet and started touching himself in the office. I'm not a prude but that wasn't hot or sexy. It's creepy. Given the number of 5 stars I'm sure it gets better but that was a big no for me.

The Deal is the third book in the Manhattan Nights series by one of my favorite suspense romance authors, Natalie Wrye. Even though this is the third book, it can be read as a standalone. If you did read the previous books then you have already met Jesse and Marilyn and like me, you have been waiting for their story.

Five years. That’s how long it’s been since Jesse and Marilyn were in the same room. She was back in Manhattan after scandal hit the internet. This one bigger than the others. She was an actress in L.A after-all. But this time it was too much. She planned to be in Manhattan a day later to kick off her best friend’s wedding weekend. So what if she leaves a day early, no big deal, right? Wrong. That one day almost cost her everything she worked hard for in LA.

Jesse is working on the biggest case of his life. And it’s personal. Chris Jackson needed to be locked up for the rest of his life for what he has done to so many families. He didn’t have time for distractions. And walking in on Marilyn in the shower was a big one. It’s been five years since he has seen her up close but over the years he has thought about her. Her sass. Her body. Her bite. And now she was here. He was so fucked. He doesn’t want to want her. She is off-limits. Always has been since her brother is his best friend and boss. But, maybe a deal will change everything.

They both needed a cleaner reputation. An engagement might just do the trick. It has to. I mean what could go wrong? It’s the perfect plan. No feelings. No rules. No forevers.

Damn. Natalie gets me every time. When I think I solved the puzzle, I get hit with a big fat...no you didn’t! And I love that. I want to be surprised. Even the characters surprise me. I knew Marilyn wasn’t a delicate flower but I didn’t realize how kick ass she really is. And Jesse. He is hot and cold on the outside but on the inside he runs hot, hot, hot. But that doesn’t mean I don’t want to smack him once in a while.

Overall...it’s a great addition to the series. It’s sassy, flirty, sexy, and suspenseful.

Quotes:

Her fingernails scrape the surface of my scalp, almost sinking, and the little scratches turn me on, making me want to punish her, pleasure her—possess her with everything I’ve got.

“Stop?” I bend at the knee. “Duchess, I’m just getting started.”

It’s a fear I never saw coming, a fate I’d hoped I could avoid.

Title: The Deal
Author: Natalie Wrye
Format: Ebook
Genre: Romance - suspense, fake fiancé, best friend's sister/brother's best friend
Standalone: yes
Part of a Series: yes book 3 in the Manhattan Nights series
POV: Marilyn and Jesse
4/5

Although The Deal is a standalone it's even better if you've read The Vow (Book 1) and The Bet (Book 2) first. The Deal takes place the week before the wedding of Brett and Elsie (The Vow) and starts just before the epilogue of The Bet and we get a glimpse of what happens with Heath and Violet after the reveal at the end of the book. You see much of Brett or Heath in The Deal and little to no glimpses of Elsie or Violet so again not necessary to read the first two books but even more fun if you have.

I enjoyed Jessie and Marilyn's book. Natalie Wrye wove in so many elements throughout this book that I could hardly put it down. The suspense kept me hooked and guessing. If you haven't read Natalie Wrye I suggest that you pick up this series. Manhattan Nights and The Deal especially are the perfect combination of suspense, steam, sass and angst to keep you coming back for more.

I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Rogue God and Rebel

Once again Natalie Wrye gives her readers a mind blowing, intriguing suspenseful story! The Deal follows on in this wonderful series with all its great characters coming out in the third book of the Manhattan Nights Series. This wonderful authors prose always amazes me with the depth and intensity of her characters!
Marilyn Daniels an actress and Heaths’s sister is running from the paparazzi and returns to Manhattan, she also has a stalker. Jesse Somerset a lethal trial lawyer and lothario and also Heath’s best friend loves Marilyn’s sarky, sexy as sin Attitude which turns him on but she is off limits! Will Jesse and Marilyn’s Contract Deal, with a short shelf life, work on dealing with their issues and what is Jesse’s end game anyway? Marilyn has her own secret’s but can Kayla, Marilyn’s publicist put a spin on their deal to clean up Marilyn’s reputation? Will Marilyn become Jesse’s willing prey? Can they both make sacrifices and trust each other? You really need to read this superb book that I highly recommend.

Natalie has outdone herself. This book is about Jesse and Marilyn, he is the BFF of her brother and the attorney working on Heath’s other BFF’s fathers case. This is the third book in the Manhattan Night Series, which was awesome. As with the second book, I had to go back to skim The Bet and the Vow in order to remember the characters and how it left off. Although this is a standalone book, it is best to familiarize yourself to the characters in order to understand where they are coming from. This book is focus on Marilyn who is trying to hide out due to some nude pictures of her have been leaked out and her career is up in question, but then encounters her ex with a new woman while at a party at her brother’s house. She catches Jesse by surprise when she introduces him as her fiancé. He goes along with it in order to help her and himself. Well this is when the drama begins and the attraction between them flourish. There is a lot of drama and her BFF Kayla is something else as well.

I received an advanced reader copy and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review. It does have a HEA, and I know book four is going to be great with Kayla.

The Deal is the third book in the Manhattan series by the fabulous and talented Natalie Wrye. We met both Jesse and Marilyn in the previous books and I have been waiting for their story! They have a history that I was dying to know! Now they are seeing each other after five years and the attraction is still there. But so are the secrets. Jesse needs to concentrate on his job and Marilyn needs to get her life back on track after a scandal. What's the perfect way? Make a deal with the sexiest woman you've ever met. What could go wrong? You definitely won't want to touch her and kiss and her you won't fall for her. Marilyn is still living in the past. She sees something in herself that no one else does and she can't seem to get out of her own way sometimes. But Jesse sees her and she doesn't want that to stop. Too bad he doesn’t want her the way she wants him. Right? Oh so wrong! I loved this story! The flirting and sexy banter was perfection. Jesse is sexy, brooding and a little sweet. Marilyn is gorgeous but flawed in the best way. Together they balance each other out. I'm already looking forward to what's next!

I have been trying to decide on how best to describe this author’s distinctive writing style. It reminds me of something but I’ve been unable to put my finger on it. This probably won’t make sense, and I mean this in a positive way, but as I read The Deal, certain parts made me feel almost like I was watching an action packed black and white movie, with the actors/characters bringing a certain kind of realism to their fictional role. I would have no idea how to write a book, or plot a storyline, but her use of descriptive language and character dialogue had me wondering if Ms Wrye’s ideas come to her like a movie in her imagination.

There’s a lot going on between Jesse and Marilyn, plenty of angst, drama and frustrating misunderstandings to keep you on your toes. I have to say, I think Jesse and Marilyn are my favourite couple so far from this series. Ms Wrye combines some comedy moments and witty dialogue with a smidge of suspense and a whole lot of heat to make The Deal an engaging read.

I gave this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I enjoyed this book,At first, I was a little skeptical about reading this because of the fake fiancé storyline, but I felt like that didn’t make the whole story and there was a lot more to the storyline. This is a perfect read for anyone who is into the sibling’s best friend trope. The chemistry between Marilyn and Jesse did really well developing through the story. I wasn’t the biggest Marilyn fan in the beginning but she definitely grow on me! This book was filled with the a good amount of angst, drama and romance, which made this storyline good and entertaining to read. I definitely recommend reading books 1 and 2 before this book, it does help with understanding backstories on side characters.

The Deal is the 3rd book in the Manhattan Nights series. Although each is standalone, I do feel like you need to read the prior two books in order to know more about the other characters. Even reading the other two left me feeling a tad lost at times.

The chemistry between Jesse and Marilyn is HOT!

We learn their current connection has been brewing for a while, and they both have their reasons for not acting on their attraction.

I enjoyed reading this book, maybe more than the other two; however, it was very frustrating at times when Jesse and Marilyn kept changing their minds. I did find there was a lot of "I knew what he was thinking" etc but then we didn't really know what the situation was until later.

Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys the brother's best friend trope.
