The Tithing (The Sacrifice Duet Book 1) Kindle Edition
When the Wildbloods presented their daughters to me on the night of the Tithing, they knew what was to come for the chosen girl.
The crescent moon that marked Willow made her mine. I had no choice but to take her.
Destiny determined our fates long before we were born, laying our roles out for us.
A Sacrifice would be made. A Tithe paid. Only then would our families be free, at least until the next payment came due.
I would have done my duty as Penitent. I tried.
But no one counted on the lion falling in love with the lamb.
And loving Willow could cost me everything.

- Reviewed in Australia on 12 October 2023Verified PurchaseI always enjoy books by this duo but they have had me on the edge of my seat with this one. Thank goodness book two is already in my library. Absolutely recommended.
- Reviewed in Australia on 22 September 2023Holy Moly What a cliffy!! This book had all the feels.
Love, hate, anger, desperation, sadness…if you could bottle it all up, this book had it in spades.
Our main characters are fighting a curse that spans generations. Even though their thoughts may differ, you can see the struggle is real and they’ll do whatever it takes to protect their families.
I’m eagerly awaiting book 2!!
- Reviewed in Australia on 20 September 2023The Tithing is the first book in the Sacrifice Duet and expands on the previous world of IVI created by these two powerhouse authors, A. Zavarelli and Natasha Knight❣️
When these two authors come together you know what you are going to experience is out of this world and will leave you gobsmacked…much how I’m feeling right now after I just finished. Suffice to say Willow and Azrael’s story is wrapped up in so much history that it makes this story feel more poignant but it also includes elements of witchcraft and I do love my “paranormal” stories🙃
Willow is a Wildblood and has been marked by her ancestor by a curse. Azrael is a Delacroix and he is to take Willow as payment of the Tithe. However, outside forces and some internal ones…keep you guessing as to what’s coming. I’m loving it and I can’t wait for the conclusion as this story is just brilliant😍
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review.
- Reviewed in Australia on 7 September 20234.5 STARS!
Magically delicious! It’s supernatural and dreamy, mysterious yet oh-so inviting. Another gripping dark and suspenseful romance created by the duo, but better yet, another complex addition to the world of The Society! Like their previous collaborations, this read seamlessly. You can’t tell where one author’s writing ends and the other begins.
You know it’s an exceptionally good read when it’s unputdownable. And you know it’s one that’ll haunt you (pun unintended) until you get your hands on the next book. The Tithing absolutely falls under both categories.
I’ve been loving the world of The Society with its gritty narratives and fleshed-out characters, all set within a secret society. But what sets this one slightly apart from the others is the supernatural element that has been included. The entire storytelling is enveloped in unpredictability, ancestral curses, and witchcraft… I loved it! It gave me Practical Magic vibes.
Willow and Azrael are complete opposites that have goose-bump-inducing attraction to one another that I couldn’t get enough of. From their push-and-pull, to their banter, to their raunchy romps, along with their intrigue of one another’s lifestyles had me invested from beginning to end.
The secondary characters are just as interesting and likable that I’m lowkey hoping they’ll eventually have books of their own too. The contrasting family dynamics was just as much in the forefront as is Willow’s and Azrael’s complicated relationship. It added genuineness and relatability whether it be light-hearted interactions or full of disagreements and drama.
This book broaches on sensitive subject matters that may be disturbing or triggering for some readers. It contains violence, suicide, bullying, stalking, attempted rape, and hate towards different religions/beliefs. Due to the mature themes, it’s intended for readers 18+ only.
It’s steady-paced, constantly developing, and told from dual POVs. There’s tons of twists and turns, with plenty to unmask and process. This book ends with an anxiety-riddled cliff-hanger that has me counting down the days to see how it’ll all play out in the second half of this duet.
I’m liking what I’ve seen so far of Willow and Azrael, and their strong-willed personalities. Azrael is a conflicted hero and I sympathise his pain and need for escape from his heavy responsibilities. Despite the fate that befalls Willow, she’s sassy and kind-hearted, and the type of person I would adore as a friend.
Amazing balance of dark and romantic elements. It’s well-written and well on its way to becoming a weighty story of love and family. The world-building is exceptionally vivid that I was effortlessly transported into their eerie little bubble. I would absolutely recommend this to avid dark romance readers, especially to those who’ve read previous books from The Society. It isn’t necessary to read the others before starting this one as it reads well as a standalone, but if you’re wanting a richer reading experience of this secret society, I recommend starting from the beginning with The Society Trilogy.
I was provided a copy by the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forbidden love!
Verified PurchaseLove love love this first book. The backstory, the curse, the mystical elements of it.
Forbidden love!
This story is hundreds of years in the making the sacrifices that have to be made between the Delacroix and the Wildbloods.
Destiny and fate bring them together, but blood must be spilt!
Azrael is clearly torn between what is expected of him to keep the curse at bay and what his heart is telling him he should do.
Willow will be the sacrifice to save the Delacroix family as history has proven and this must be repeated!
Totally engrossed with this first book, off to dive into the next, I can’t wait to see how this one is going to pan out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Una nueva historia dentro del mundo IVI, sin duda Natasha knight y A. Zavarelli lo volvieron a hacer
Verified PurchaseMe atraparon con esta nueva pareja. 🛐🖤

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read so far
Verified PurchaseFinally, I got around to starting this duet, and it did not disappoint. I love this author combo, and with this series, they are proving they still have that magic touch of creating an amazing story.
The characters are so well developed that you love and you hate some as well.
The heat between the H and h is off the charts.
The suspense and intrigue keep the readers attention.
Going right into the sequel.
If you haven't read this series, you really should.
Enjoy.
