The Penitent (The Sacrifice Duet Book 2) Kindle Edition
I knew he’d choose me before he came to our door on the night of the Tithing. I bore the mark that would make me his.
It was my ancestor who spoke the words that bound us together, and his demon-god who promised protection for the price of blood.
My blood.
I was prepared to be that sacrifice if it would keep my family safe.
Loving Azrael? The thought never crossed my mind. He was and would forever be my enemy.
He’s not the only monster coming for me, though, and somehow, it’s in Azrael’s arms I feel the safest.
But I need to be careful with him. I need to guard my heart because if I don’t, he is sure to destroy me.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2023This book flowed seamlessly from where it left off in book one. This genre is not one I
usually enjoy, but everyone needs a little fantasy in their lives now and again. I was
converted by this powerhouse duo, who are uncompromising in their depiction of
complicated relationships. I enjoyed this dark, compelling romance with its unforgettable
characters who bursts with realism. It was dark, twisted, and utterly addictive. I loved
the many twists and turns and the fantasy woven through the storyline. The sense of
anticipation and the overabundance of emotions had me on the edge of my seat. I'm
still not sure of my feelings towards the grandmother.
Ezrael had to work hard to earn Willow’s trust and love, but I think he came into himself
more with a massive leap in his personal growth. Willow was no shrinking violet, but she
had been put through the wringer. She was strong despite the rough times and came out
the other side not willing to let go.
This story was well-written, with dialogue that flowed freely and emotions that sometimes
threatened to overwhelm me. Sit back and enjoy the narrative.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 30, 2023I was not sure what I expected out of the whole ordeal, but I am glad to see there was indeed a HEA.
The story was unique. Not quite supernatural, but also not quite non-magic. It’s hard to describe but it’s the best way to sort of explain. There were some unexpected things and some unexplainable things. It was hard to tell whether it would be on the more supernatural side.
I did enjoy the story, but I would have liked a more detailed explanation about the dark wing and why it was closed off. Other than that, it was a really good read!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2023I cannot even begin to explain how much I love this book and these characters! Azrael and Willow are just amazing, their love for each other otherworldly, and I finished this story with tears in my eyes and my heart swelling in my chest.
This book is much like the first in the duet, full of action and a huge helping of myth and legend that was in and of itself its own character. The side characters were so real it felt like they were beside me, telling me their story in person. I loved seeing this story unfold and couldn’t read it fast enough.
Fantastic duet! My favorite by these two amazing authors!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2024I always wait for Natasha Knight and A Zavarelli books that are duets or trilogies to read one after another because they involve so much, action, suspense and love, that I can’t wait months in between releases.
This Sacrifice Duet is no exception. These books are phenomenal.
They are written around the Society theme and are just as intense and intricate in their plotting.
Azrael and Willow’s story is so fascinating and intriguing.
I hope we will continue to see more of them if the story continues with Raven and Emanuele.
I loved this series. These Authors are extremely talented and well worth reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2024Not great, not bad. Just okay. I found the Caleb thing annoying in the sense that he constantly got ahold of Willow. Like Azreal supposedly has money and resources and he still can't protect her? I got annoyed at him taking forever to see Salome for who she really was. I also got annoyed about the end when Caleb shows up. Like the whole point was him trying to keep Willow safe. Yet he decides to play batman and leave her unguarded. Just was contradictory to his while stance. Also...the book has instalove all over it. If that's youre thing, you'll enjoy this. Im not a huge fan of instalove. I stopped reading around 87%. I got the gist and was just done.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 14, 2023This was a good series. The angst and suspense was present throughout the book. I loved that this book actually had a plot and not just a bunch of smut. I’m wondering if raven is going to have a book?
I wish there was a little more epilogue, but that’s only, because I wanted more of the characters. I wish we found out about their parents and how the other penitents died within a year
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2023The writing in this two book series is exceptional and I loved the story, somewhat reminiscent of the Indebted series by Pepper Winters, yet truly its own story. I am always a sucker for tales where the would be killer falls in love with his victim. In this book I found the pacing just right to keep me turning pages non stop. I will definitely take a look at other books by this highly successful writer combination

Another amazing story by these authors. It’s dark and suspenseful with many twists and turns. Lots of intrigue with some intense moments. The love that the main characters have for each other is otherworldly. Read this duet. It is a truly amazing read.

5.0 out of 5 stars very well written duet
I’m admit that you got me. lol I hated Azriel at the beginning. I wanted him to get but pu chef. Dozen times before riding off into the sunset with his brother.
But after a bit of time, he grew in me BIG time…. Really enjoyable duet..

P. S. Me quedé esperando la aparición de Santiago De La Rosa 🤭😂.
