Surrender (Harris Brothers Book 4) Kindle Edition
Gareth Harris is Manchester United’s reclusive star defender. He has control over all aspects of his life. But a lifetime of supporting his siblings and filling in for an emotionally absent father has taken its toll.
Sloan Montgomery is a clothing stylist whose world was turned upside down when she found herself pregnant and moving to Manchester with a man who was never supposed to be her forever. Now recently divorced and struggling with shared custody of her daughter, control is a fleeting concept for this American living in England.
Both Gareth and Sloan are in need of a release.
A moment in time where they can forget about their pasts and family pressures...and just...
...surrender.
No one could predict what happens when both of their defences are down.

About the author

Number 1 Amazon and USA Today bestselling author Amy Daws writes spicy love stories that take place in America, as well as across the pond. She's been known to pen her steamy novels in a tire shop waiting room and that experience inspired her rom-com Wait With Me that was turned into a feature film on Passionflix. When Amy is not writing, she’s likely making charcuterie boards from her home in South Dakota where she lives with her daughter and husband.

- Reviewed in Australia on 18 July 2018Verified PurchaseI have been impatiently waiting for the day Gareth Harris part 1 would turn up on my kindle, however now that it has, I don't want it to be here, as it is the beginning of the end of the Harris Brother series, and I don't want it to end, ever!
Gareth has been a bit of an enigma throughout the series, kind of waiting in the background for his time - and his time has come!
If you have read the previous Harris Brothers books, you know a bit about Gareth, and you have met the lovely Sloan quickly. I knew I was going to like their story, but oh my Gareth, did Amy Daws turn the heat up on this one or what!
There is so much we didn't know about Gareth, and I am not going to lie, Ms Daws had me in tears at times, ugly snotty crying.
I thought Sloan was downright amazing, and couldn't get enough of her.
And then there something that came completely out of left field, but boy oh boy did I love it. It just made the story so much more.
I loved seeing more of the Harris boys and their lovely ladies, seeing the family come together and grow. I was also surprised about my feelings for one of the Harris family that I haven't had before.
Though Ms Daws, I do feel that there was a dearth of My Hayden in this story and it needs to be remedied in part 2 - please!
Smart and sexy, I was not able to put Surrender down once I started. It had me hooked right from the first word to that cliffhanger (though thankfully we only have a couple of weeks to go for Dominate).
Gimme gimme gimme, I don't wanna wait!
- Reviewed in Australia on 4 June 2019Verified PurchaseI have loved every book in this series. However this one was exceptional. If you have not read this series, start at the beginning and this final story is the cherry on top.
- Reviewed in Australia on 23 April 2019Verified PurchaseSurrender (Harris Brothers #4) is Gareth’s story. Gareth Harris has been an enigma to us up until now. In the Harris family he’s the oldest brother and the biggest star player. He’s very different from his brothers and doesn’t have the kind of big personality, swagger and machismo they have (well mostly Camden and Tanner). He’s reclusive, always in control and he’s the one who’s shouldered most of the family responsibility because their father has been emotionally unavailable throughout their lives. He meets Sloan Montgomery, a talented stylist, when she comes to dress him for an event. She’s beautiful, confident and competent, and totally affected by him. Her professional facade belies the reality that she’s struggling with many things including coming to terms with being a recently divorced expat (she’s American) who doesn’t seem to fully fit into her very British life, and struggling to share custody of her daughter with her ex husband who is basically an appalling person. There’s some kind of extreme chemistry event that takes place between them, a primal urge driving them together, something life changing and completely unexpected. But this is not the complete tale because Dominate (Harris Brothers #5) is the rest of their story...
- Reviewed in Australia on 2 February 2022Verified PurchaseOh My God, you can't leave us there!!! Just love this series, the Harris family are awesome 👌. They are all so fierce. So need to see where this is all going.
- Reviewed in Australia on 30 April 2021Verified PurchaseA cliffhanger, really!? Loving every minute of this book and then hit a snag when it ends on a cliffhanger!!!!
Oh the torture!
- Reviewed in Australia on 19 July 2018Holy moly wow! If I could rate this book more than 5 stars I would. What a ride!
I sped through this book the first day I got it and I CANNOT WAIT for book number 2! I never really thought too much about Gareth before it was announced that he was getting his own book. Partially because I have yet to read the London Lovers series, so I haven't read Vi's book (shame on me, I know!), and also partly because he's a much more serious character than say Tanner, who stands out in the crowd as such.
Reading Surrender has really brought Gareth to the forefront and he might even possibly be my favourite brother. Not 100% sure yet though.
The layers to Gareth are fascinating and this book has made me feel so many emotions as well. Strong emotions at particular parts, at that.
I also really loved Sloan. She's as layered as Gareth and they work perfectly together. They seem to grow together and help each other bring out the sides of themselves that need to be shown the light of day a bit more. I think they come into each others lives at the right time and its really interesting watching them interact with each other.
Of course we get our Harris fill and have glimpses of the whole family from the other books, and they're still just as loveable as before. This family is honestly one of my favourite families in the fictional world. I love the Harris's to the moon and back.
There is a cliff hanger at the end of course, with this being the first book in a duet about Gareth, and let me tell you...I bloody did not see that coming, and I NEED book 2 right now! Bring on August and the release of what I'm sure will be a stunning conclusion to Gareth's story!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing book!
Verified PurchaseLove how Amy writes. All her Harris brother and Vi books are incredible. Love the dynamic of the family she creates and intertwines their stories. You will not be disappointed by reading any of her books. This is actually my 2nd go around of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars best of the 5
Verified PurchaseDon’t know why it took me so long to read the last two books from the series, but it was the best ones. Highly recommend these ones did not disappoint. They were amazing and I loved it. Also it kind of has a kink that you don’t really see in romcom I feel like it’s just so well done and fun to read. Honestly, great to Books.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-read
Verified PurchaseSurrender had me hooked from start to finish, and after that cliff-hanger of an ending I’m so thankful I waited until both parts of Gareth’s story were released before starting this duet so I can jump straight in to reading Dominate to discover what happens next. What I am kicking myself for, is waiting so long after its release to actually start this narrative. I absolutely loved his sibling’s stories and this book is no different.
I adore the Harris siblings and even though it has been quite some time since I read Booker’s story, I immediately felt as if I was back among good friends and no time had elapsed. I love how protective they all are and how much they love, care and look out for each other. Their banter never fails to put a huge smile on my face. If I was invited to join the Harris family for Sunday dinners, I’d be there in a heartbeat.
l learned so much about Gareth in this book and much of this broke my heart! As the eldest of the Harris children, he has been his sibling’s support and confidant since a very young age. I now understand the reasons behind his actions and behaviours, and I love that he has found something that can allow him to escape his daily life and responsibilities. Sloan is perfect for him - and actually, he is for her too. I only hope that their relationship can develop and they find their HEAs together.
Surrender can be read as a standalone. However, I would suggest that you read the series in release order as each book is an incredible read and each story must not be missed. I’m excited to start reading Dominate next but sadly it is the final book in this series. I will be gutted once my time with the Harris siblings is over.
5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars So good.
Verified PurchaseSo good! This is Gareth and Sloan’s story. Gareth is the oldest Harris and his story is so full of heartache and pain, which he keeps buried inside himself. He’s spent his life being strong for his siblings and always being there for them. But he’s never let anyone in his heart that’s not family. Until he meets Sloan, a confident personal stylist that doesn’t fangirl him. He’s attracted to her from the first time he meets her, unfortunately for him she’s married. They have a working relationship for years, slowly building a friendship as she understands him. Until one day, Sloan catches her husband cheating on her and he asks for a divorce. Sloan has to make a clothes delivery to Gareth that evening, so she pulls herself together and goes. When she gets there he senses there’s something wrong, she tells him and before you know it they’ve stripped and don’t hold back. When reality hits her of what they’ve done she avoids him for a year! Loads happens for them to finally get together and then the book ends and you have to read the next one to find out what happens!
Still totally love Cameron and Tanner they’re just the best together!
