Clara and Zac thought they were headed for their happily ever after, until a break-up slathered in betrayal left them both jaded and vindictive.

They thought they could forget each other and move on ... until a local charity auction in their hometown of Snowy Creek sets Zac up for the ultimate revenge. If he wins, Clara will be at his mercy, forced to work for him for one full week. Tantalized by the sweet taste of revenge, he eagerly ups the ante to claim his prize.

Aye, I know I rated it more than 1 star - it gets 2.5 actually because it was decently written and one should give credit where it's due - but all the same...

B.A.R.F 🤮🤮

Formulaic, very unoriginal second-chance yarn that you could predict from chapter to chapter if you read enough of these. High school sweethearts, rich girl, blue-collar boy, crazy in love and full of plans for their future. Just weeks prior to the couple departing for uni together one character is cruelly set up to appear as though they had betrayed the other - this scheme was a tad farfetched and made the 'betrayed' character look none too bright IMO, but. Anyhow.

Fast forward twelve years and both players have found themselves back in their home town. Both have gone on to achieve successful careers in the interim and reside on opposite coasts. Of course it turns out that they BOTH perceive themselves as the wounded party and think the other one is to blame for their breakup. Some moderately amusing revenge hijinks ensue whilst both characters insist they 'hate' one another which is oh-so-convincing (not) with all the lustful thoughts going on.

Ya know, just ONCE I'd like a writer to take a crack at a realistic approach to what people ACTUALLY think and feel in the wake of an ugly breakup and long separation. Just sayin'.

The book is short and so the pseudo-hostility doesn't last long, so the couple is bumping uglies before you know it - which was actually the true purpose of this story, anyway. The schemers get their comeuppance but they get off easy because they are loved ones who thought they were doing what was best because the pair 'were too young to be so serious.'
🙄😒

The story barrels to its syrupy-sweet, predictable HEA with an elaborate wedding and oh! the h is sooo nervous before walking down the aisle she's nauseous! So, cue the adorbs Mary Sue secondary character whose specific purpose is to ask - adorably - if the h could be pregnant. Mary Sue is, of course, adorably pregnant herself. From then on to the end I was hard pressed to not throw up in my mouth. Less than a year after the wedding the couple is already expecting their SECOND child.
How f*cking romantic 😑.

The book is pretty light reading and several scenes are played for laughs, but the sub plot of a parent with a health crisis is a jarring note to the story. Both characters had other lovers over the separation but they were Donesville for over a decade with no intent to reconcile or see one another again. One could hardly expect celibacy here. Some thin OM drama that was over in a few sentences.

In summary, the writing was skilled, the characters well-drawn and even likeable, and the plot accomplishes what it sets out to do. It's safe and there are a few solid chuckles along the way.
But I've read a crapload of similar versions of this same story. The cliché predictability and the fact that they shagged within seconds of sussing out that someone broke them up makes this an unremarkable story I will forget by the weekend.

Nothing is ever what it seems on the surface …. #TRUTH!

This isn’t a storyline I haven’t read many times over so I wasn’t really surprised at any of the conflict. In fact, I saw it coming a mile away LOL However, most of the time, when you have a story like this, where you pretty much know what is going to happen you just don’t know the who of it all, the story can become a bit stilled and boring … not this time. So, props to the author for that!

I really enjoyed Clara and Zac. The story wasn’t angst filled. It was more humorous than anything else. That was a bit of a good surprise for me. We all know how small-town drama can be so ….. I appreciate the author not taking this story down that road! Overall, very sweet and enjoyable story!

Wow this book is amazing!!!!!!! Clara and Zac have had a rough past. They both have stories that aren’t correct. Clara was called home for some tragic news but won’t let that interfere with family. Zac has worked his way to the top and 12 years later their paths cross back over again. Will they keep hating each other or can they work out their differences?

First I’d like to thank the author for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my gosh I didn’t want this story to end. I loved both Zac and Clara from the beginning. I’m so happy they had a second chance at love.

This story is about two high school sweethearts who were separated by lies and misunderstandings. Who twelve years later come back home to their small town they grew up in and find that they were meant to be together.

This story had me laughing as well as heartbroken at times. It was a great second chance at love story that has you rooting for the main characters.

Zak and Clara gave me all the warm fuzzy feelings . I am such a sucker for a second chance romance. Clara had her life after high school all figured out! Go away to Paris for 3 weeks and then return to college and her first love Zak. When a strange set of events happen regarding Zak and she isn't able to reach him all plans are off. Clara becomes well known in the entertainment business and she has found it easy to stay away from home and the heartbreak it may hold.
Zak has always loved Clara but everything changes when she never returns from Paris. Zak has never forgotten his first true love and he has now made quite a name for himself . He soon discovers that she is back in town and he has quite an idea for a bit of light hearted revenge!
Let move ahead ten years and these two are thrown together at an auction in her hometown. He bids and wins Clara! Putting her to work on his farm is such an Easy Revenge ! This couple has such chemistry ! Their witty banter is so refreshing ! They are funny, sassy and the sexual tension is outstanding ! Loved their story !

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Clara thought she had her life figured out. She was going to spend three weeks in Paris with her best friend and then when she returned home she would move to New Orleans to go to college and live with her boyfriend. Their life would be perfect. That is until that dreaded phone call.
Now 12 years later she has made a name for herself as a top PR person to the stars. While Zac has become one of the best architects in the country. Clara goes back home to be with her Dad during a difficult time and she helps them with the annual auction at the country club. It is where one family member offers their services for a week and the proceeds from the auction go to charity. Clara offers to take her dad's spot on the auction block, she never thinks that Zac will return to town or that he would bid on her.
Both Clara and Zac are angry over the way things ended. But neither one knows what the other thinks really happens. Someone has been plotting to keep them apart.
But who would do that and why? Will Clara and Zac be able to sit and talk about what happened as they know it? Can Clara trust the truth and forgive who has been keeping them apart? Will love win in the end?
I loved a second chance at love and this one was great. Clara and Zac are perfect for each other and it shows in the way they handled things when they found out the truth. This story is filled with fun, laughs, heartache, pain and a love to last forever. I love author L.P. Dover and can't wait to read more from her.

This was my first read by this author, and if definitely won't be the last! I was so captivated by this story from the get-go, and a few hours later when I was finished, I immediately wanted to read it again!!

Zac and Clara were high school sweethearts who were separated by lies, misunderstandings and miscommunications. They are both back in their hometown after twelve years of being apart, and their connection and love is obviously still there, it's just burried beneath heartbreak, pain and resentment. And when the truth comes out about what really happened all those years ago, will there be anything left of their love?

This book brought ALL the emotions!! Trust me when I say this book will stay with you long after you finish reading!

Zac and Clara fell in love as teenagers and had planned their future together until they both believed they were betrayed by each other and haven’t seen or spoken to each other for the last 12 years.

When her father’s health has her returning to her hometown, she never imagined that it would bring Zac into his life and since she is the innocent party, she doesn’t understand why he is treating her the way he is. Zac has never forgiven Clara for her betrayal so now that she is required to spend the next week with him, he is determined to make it as difficult as possible. Will this be their second chance to uncover the truths of the past or will they end in heartbreak once again?

Although their journey is filled with angst, heat and emotion this is a story about two people who have always belonged together.

Loved this classic second chance romance story! Zac and Clara were torn apart when they were young. First true love never left them but they tried to get over each other. Now there is opportunity for revenge and Zac takes it Little do they both know that true love recognizes it's matching heart. Love is love and we can't do too much to muck that up.

I love both main characters. Loved the humor the author sprinkled into the story. I got really irritated with all the folks who had been trying to keep these two apart. The secondary characters may have you throwing your kindle at some point! I love second chance romances at the point the characters realize they messed up and couldn't possibly imagine living without this person again.

Huge fan of the author and love that the publisher is having stories written in the Boudreaux world. It was great to see them in this story!

This book was everything I would except from LP Dover!!! And of course it was fantastic.
I loved Clara and Zac, their love story was a beautiful thing to read. It was everything rolled into one. BUT I have to say all the pranks that were pulled were classic.
There is an old saying, there is a very thin line between hate and love and Zac and Clara are 100% proof of that

EASY REVENGE by LP Dover is a contemporary, adult, erotic, romance stand alone story line, a part of the multi-authored Boudreaux Universe series. This is thirty year olds, architect Zac Ward, and PR agent Clara Berkeley story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Zac and Clara) EASY REVENGE follows the second chance relationship between thirty year old, architect Zac Ward, and PR agent Clara Berkeley. Twelve years earlier, Clara Berkeley spent a few weeks in Paris with her best friend Trina but a phone call from Home left Clara heart broken and destroyed. Fast forward to present day wherein Clara returns home to Wyoming in the wake of her father’s cancer diagnosis, a return that will bring Clara face to face with her past. A charity auction finds Clara working for the man who broke her heart, a man who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. What ensues is the rebuilding but acrimonious relationship between Clara and Zac, and the potential fall-out as our couple discover the truth about what happened years before.

Clara Berkeley has never recovered from the heart break of Zacs betrayal years before but not all was it appeared to be. Zac believed Clara was responsible for the destruction of their relationship and the truth would bring our couple together but have the potential of destroying a family, and ruining a life-long friendship.

The relationship between Zac and Clara is one of second chances; a rekindling romance between two people destroyed by betrayal, vengeance, jealousy and lies but a rekindling that would reveal to what extremes people will do to tear them apart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including Claras parents Diane and Alexander Berkeley; her best friend and client Trina; Zacs cousin Savannah, and his best friend Drew, as well as his boss Galen Matthews.

EASY REVENGE is a story of opportunity and betrayal; good intentions, betrayal and acknowledgement. The premise is emotional and twisty; the romance is seductive and captivating; the characters are broken, angry, charismatic and energetic.

Clara and Zach grew up together, but it wasn’t until sophomore year in high school that their feelings began to change. When they are 18 years old, they are in love and preparing their new life together in New Orleans. They will go to college there while he will also work at Bayou Enterprises. But before leaving with Zach, Clara leaves with her best friend Trina to Paris to spend a few weeks of vacation as a graduation gift from her parents. Being there, a friend of Clara sends her a photo of Zach and a girl all over him and when she calls him, he never picks up the phone. For days Clara is depressed fearing the day she has to return home and see Zach again, so when her mother tells her that she has been admitted in the university there, she decides to stay.
12 years later Clara is a top publicist and she is preparing to go home, to Wyoming for the first time in 12 years after her father was diagnosed with stage 4 esophagus cancer.
Her father owns the country club and holds a charity auction every year for charity, where the townspeople auction themselves, the highest bidder gain the skills of the person for a week. But this year Clara’s father cannot bc his treatment will start soon, so he asks Clara to take his place, and she happily accepts. Until she realizes that the person who is bidding higher for her in none other than Zach.
Zach is now a renowned architect, he has worked very hard since he always thought that one of the reasons why Clara left him is bc he was not good enough for her.
Clara has not yet overcome the pain of Zach’s betrayal and he has not overcome that she left him without saying a word.
Zach makes te week that Clara has to work for him a living hell for her: he sends her to clean his barn, cleaning the horse stalls, the horse shit, she has to paint his gym, wash his cars, even prepare dinner for him and his date, in addition to buying him condoms. She does everything, but she makes sure to fuck with him too.
Very funny story and when they find out that they have been separated all this time bc of a misunderstanding, with the help of the betrayal of loved ones, they decide to try again.

“Whatever,” I growled. “I’ll pay the twenty grand to the charity so we can be done with this. I don’t know what game you’re trying to play, but I don’t want any part of it.” He placed a hand over his chest, pretending to be offended when it was clear he wasn’t. “Me, play games? Definitely not. If you want to back out of your obligation, that’s fine. I’ll just go inside and tell everyone you’re too chicken to work for me. You probably couldn’t even handle it anyway.” My chest tightened so hard it made me want to scream. “You’re such an asshole,” I spat. I stepped closer and stared right up into his eyes. “You want me for a week? Fine. You got me. There’s nothing I can’t do.”

“Do you think this happened for a reason? What if we’d stayed together and never became as successful as we are now? You said it yourself, you busted your ass to get where you are.” Zac lifted his hands to my face, and I sucked in a breath as he wiped away my tears. “I don’t know what would’ve happened, but I do know that we would’ve been happy. It took a long time to get over you.” He lowered his face, his lips so close to mine. “That’s a lie,” he murmured, “I don’t think I ever did. It all came back the second I saw you.” “Same,” I cried, wrapping my arms around his waist. Our bodies touched, and I melted in his arms. A soft chuckle escaped his lips. “I want to kiss you.” “Then what are you waiting for?” When his lips touched mine, it was as if no time had passed.

4.5 stars!

I've read pretty much all of this author's books and I've read all of her contemporary books! I've loved all the books that I've read, so I always look forward to a new release from her! I received an ARC of this book and started reading it as soon as I could! After reading, I can say that this book was slightly different to what I was expecting, but I enjoyed the direction it went in and what happened in it! The plot also developed at a nice pace and it kept me wanting to read on and find out what was going to happen next! There wasn't a lot, if any, action or suspense in this book, which did surprise me! I normally prefer my contemporary books to have a little bit of action or suspense in them, but this book didn't need any because it focused on the romance! There was plenty of romance and I loved the way it developed! It allowed for a few seriously hot scenes as well! The plot also only took me a few sittings to read and I really enjoyed it! The characters were also amazing and made this book even better! Clara was the main female character, and I felt for Clara in this book because her family were going through a tough time and she had come back to help out! This must have been tough for her because she didn't know what was going to happen! Clara also had a good job and had made a name for herself! I really liked Clara as a character and I liked the way she handed her love interest! Zac was the main male character and love interest of Clara! I loved Zac in this book! Like Clara, he had made a name for himself and had a really good job! Zac was also quite mean to Clara when they first reconnected, but in a funny way to annoy her and test her! He was more understanding when he found out why she was back and he tried to help her out as best he could! It was also easy to see that Zac still had feelings for Clara and that he always had! I loved that this book was written from both Clara and Zac's point of views! I was hoping that it was going to be before I started reading, but I wasn't sure if it was going to be after I read the synopsis! I'm really happy that it was written from dual point of view because it added a lot to the plot and allowed for a few more things to happen in it as well! It helped as well as the characters didn't spend every second of the plot together, so it allowed for more to happen in the plot and for me to understand how the characters felt about each other! I can also completely understand why this book is a standalone! The ending was left at the perfect place for the characters and it wrapped everything up! I now can't wait to read more books set in this world! I didn't realise that this book was part of a world where different authors were writing connecting books until after I read it lol! I still can't wait to check out some more of them! The cover for this book is also absolutely stunning and it suits the feel of the book! I loved it as soon as I saw it and I love how well it suits the book! The cover models are the perfect Clara and Zac as well! Big thank you to L.P. Dover for an ARC of Easy Revenge!

When Clara and Zac were 18 and newly graduated from high school, they had the world in the palm of their hands. Heading to New Orleans in the fall, they were going to begin the next part of their life where they were supposed to, in each other’s arms. At least that’s what they thought. But one photograph ruined not only all of their plans, but their relationship. 12 years later, Clara’s back home in Wyoming because her father was recently diagnosed with cancer and she wanted to spend as much time with him as she can. She’s not the only one who’s come back to town though, Zac’s back as well.
To make things worse between the pair, Zac just bid a large amount of money on Clara at the charity auction, and he’s going to put her to good use doing things such as mucking stalls and washing his cars. Even though there’s animosity between the pair, you can see that there’s still a spark between them.
Discovering the fact that they were forced apart by people close to them, they need to figure out if the spark that’s still there is more than a spark. Will it be enough to bring these two back together and let them have the life they always were meant to have?
Ms. Dover writes one heck of a book. From paranormal to contemporary, I haven’t read a book by her that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed. Her style of writing, the characters, and the plot all work together to make one heck of a story that will keep you engaged until the very last page and have you wanting more.

Absolutely loved and devoured this book!!

How can one picture mess so badly with two people's futures.
Clara and Zac were high school sweethearts, cruelly ripped apart by a situation manipulated by people that should have loved them enough to leave well enough alone.

Twelve years go by and both are back in their hometown at the same time, seems this time fate wins and the two are thrown together and the fireworks begin.

A fantastic story of a love that could never really be broken, two people torn apart finding each other again, revenge, love and a lot of laughs make this a truly wonderful story.

A story of betrayal, revenge, and second chances.

Clara and Zac are ready to take the next steps in their lives and move from their small town in Wyoming to New Orleans to go to college, but Clara goes on a last trip with her best friend to Paris before they make the move. While in Paris, Clare receives a phone call and a photo that will destroy everything she had planned.

I really liked this story. It was quite different from the other stories I’ve read of L.P. Dover’s. I’ve read her Circle of Justice and Circle of Justice/Armed and Dangerous Crossover stories. This story is about young love that is destroyed by people that think they know what’s best for someone. It takes twelve years for the truth to be uncovered, and Clara and Zac to find their way back to each other, but the time away from each other made them both stronger. These two have so much anger towards each other and when they are forced to spend a week together because of charity, their anger comes out in trying to anger the other one and see who will give in first. There are some funny situations in this story, some sad, and some betrayal, but overall the story is great. I give it a 4.5-star review and recommend it to readers who are looking for a great read.

Clara and Zac thought they were heading their way to not only college, but a happily ever after until betrayal happened & split them up. Fast forward 12 years, they both come home at the same time, and all that hurt is ready to hit the fan. Clara's dad is very sick so he asks her to stand in at the annual auction, and Zac decides to win Clara, making her his slave for a week, but things didn't quite go according to his plan of revenge. See, he can't understand why she hates him so much when he's the on who is mad, however, that doesn't change the fact that the sparks are flying everywhere! Man, there was some very big emotions coming out of me while reading this story, as there was so much hurt coming out of the pages, and yet, I couldn't put it down to take a break either. I absolute LOVE LOVE LOVE L.P. Dover's writing so I never wanted this story to end, and you won't either once you pick it up. So, hit those one click buttons to see how everything plays out, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

This story hooked me from the start with its intriguing story line....young love that is meant to be, but takes an unfortunate turn, altering the course of both people's lives drastically for twelve long years. I could not put this book down. I loved that Zac and Clara both found themselves back in their hometown at the same time, placing themselves back in each other's path, and though both seemed to be harboring some deep-seated anger towards the other, the flip side of all that anger, was that they were also holding onto a lot of other feelings, and their back and forth shenanigans while they worked through all that made this book highly enjoyable and kept me fully invested until the very end. I love that this book was both emotional and funny, and found it to be a great balance of both. I love a good second chance romance and L.P. Dover has done it right with Easy Revenge!!!

There is just something about L.P. Dover and her men that make you swoon and want more of them. Easy Revenge is one of them with a man like Zac, who has everything he has wanted except the girl that got away. Then we have Clara who has never forgotten about the man that broke her heart. Seeing them again and how cold Zac has become actually broke my heart and the way he treats Clara was in some ways not what I expected. Instead of actually hating him he was actually funny in the ways he was going about his vengeance making me wonder if he actually has a chance at getting Clara. The love is still there only stronger this time making Clara well wondering who really broke up with who. L.P. Dover did a great job between these two and a great part in the Boudreaux Univer, loved it.

What a fantastic and sweet second chance romance!! Heartfelt, witty, and real, I felt so many emotions while reading but they were mostly positive ones. I truly loved everything about this story from beginning to end. Zac and Clara had a huge misunderstanding 12 years prior that tore them apart and they went on their separate ways to establish wonderful careers in complete opposite parts of the country from each other. They have dated others in this time but neither has ever really been able to move past the love they once had for each other despite the hurt. A sad development in Clara's life brings her back to Wyoming where Zac also happens to be visiting at the same time. Is it fate? Sure seems like it. Watch as this wonderful couple rediscover each other and rekindle the flames of their love that never truly died. It really is a fantastic story and so good for the soul!

Clara & Zac

Heartbroken, Clara's plans for the future were ruined. The man she trusted with her future betrayed her and ghosted her. Or did he?

Twelve years later Zac was given the opportunity to get "Easy Revenge" on the woman who had broken his heart and changed his future.

Both of them returned to their hometown at the same time. She was up for a charity auction twelve years later. Now, she could pay for his pain. It might cost him financially but he had money even though she must not have believed he'd make it big to leave him back then.

After getting back at her, they both learn that all was not what it seemed all those years ago. How had it happened? Some more pain was involved in finding out. Had too much time passed to find their love again?

A good love story with fun characters including friends and family love.

Easy Revenge by L.P. Dover is the story of Clara and Zac.
Clara and Zac were young and in love with their life planned out. But something happened to break them apart causing bitter and hurtful feelings. Now about 12 years later both have went on to very successful in their careers but have never forgotten each other nor moved past the hurt. When Clara returns home to help her father in addition to helping the character that he supports puts her on the charity auction block. Zac who has also moved away returns when he learns that Clara is going to be on the charity auction block. Zac feels this is his way to have Clara for the week doing hard chores to get some revenge back. But what they learn is that they are still drawn to one another and that what that though happened to break them up wasn't it at all. Enjoyed this book.

Easy Revenge is an amazing second chance story set in Kristen Proby’s Boudreaux Universe. From the very beginning I was drawn into Clara and Zac’s story. The story was setup from Clara’s point of view. The heartbreak and betrayal hits hard. When Zac and Clara are back together in their hometown, everything hits the fan in a way that will have you mad, laughing, heartbroken and falling in love with each of them. We get cameos via phone from Savannah and Ben. Clara and Zac find their way back to each other, but it isn’t a complete walk in the park. There are a couple twists in the story that I didn’t see coming, but they help answer questions that I had while reading. This story is so dynamic that I literally couldn’t put it down. I read this start to finish in one sitting and wanted to go back for more when I was done.

Easy Revenge by L.P. Dover is Zac and Clara's story.
Zac and Clara were high school sweethearts 12 years ago who had it all and were separated by lies, betrayal, miscommunication and misunderstandings. Fast forward 12 years to now and Clara and Zac are back in their hometown at the same time. After all this time apart and the chemistry between them is still intense, amazing and electrifying. Their 2nd chance at love romance is filled with an emotional rollercoaster ride- angst, pain, heartache, anger, passion, feels, steam, twists/turns, betrayal, secrets, guilt, forgiveness, healing, love and happiness. The story is classic L.P. Dover - great characters, amazing plot, awesome background scenery and the chemistry that is undeniable between the main characters. Great read with beautiful, poignant ending.

"Easy Revenge" was a fantastic read, I absolutely loved Clara and Zac's story. Clara hasn't been home in a while, but a sad situation that requires her attention, means she is going home for a visit. She hopes that she will not run into her old flame, but as fate would have it, he is also home at the same time. Clara and Zac used to be together all the time, but some things happened and they split up, now is their second chance at love. When Zac wins a charity auction that he happens to pay big bucks for, Clara has to work for him for a week, and he is hoping for sweet revenge!
This book is loaded with romance, passion, some angst, and fun. Although parts of the book were sad, some bittersweet, there were also some parts that had me laughing out loud.
So if you want a romance that will have you turning pages quickly to see what happens next, this is the book for you!

Clara and Zac were high school sweethearts, ready to venture off to college together in New Orleans.
But when a supposed betrayal changes the course of their individual futures, they think the worst of each other. Resentment has built up deep within them both over the past 12 years, so when a chance at revenge appears, Zac takes it.

But with both of them harbouring so much hurt and anger at each other, it’s not long before the truth comes out, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Can they both get over the past and have the future they’d always wanted? Or will the revenge and deceit of their past ruin everything?

Yet another new author I’ve discovered through the Boudreaux Universe series! I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this book and am looking forward to reading more books by this author!

This storyline was strong, powerful and addictive. The characters feelings and emotions can be felt deeply as you read what they both went through, helping you to relate to them more.

I had a feeling once of the characters were involved in the events that broke them, but had no idea the extent to which everything happened, it threw me through a loop!

I really loved everything about this book from start to finish, and I highly recommend it!

The story has pain, secrets, suspense, and heartbreak.

This is Clara and Zac’s story. These two were headed for a forever until someone decided they didn’t want them together. They broke up and were both angry and jaded. Now years later he is out for revenge. But what was supposed to give closure brings pain and heartache. Secrets are revealed and not they have to figure out just who never wanted them to have a forever. Can they figure it out and be able to move on? Will moving on give them a second chance at a future or will it be the final closure they needed in order to move on?

I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read. But all and all it was a great story.

I highly recommend this book.
