This is like a 3.5
Hmmm so there are many things I did like about this book but there were A lot of things I hated. Honestly I'm impressed I lasted more than half the book before I was annoyed and over the heroine; because she was F*cking Ridiculous! My pills must be finally working lol
Anyway, the reason why I say this is because more than half of the book their relationship is straight up high school. Again, for more than half of it, we get, I love you, I hate you. Let's break up. No let's get together. No let's break up. I was like Come on! Get it together.
Devon is a hybrid shifter. She's half wolf, half kitsune. Which I found pretty cool, I mean who wouldn't want the power to change into 2 different animals!? For those who do not know what a kitsune is because I sure as hell did not, here is a picture:
Devon grew up with just her dad (who is a wolf) since her bitch mom bailed on her when she was little. They didn't belong to a pack and stayed nomad her whole life because her dad and mom were forbidden to be to together and when he chose her mom over the pack he was cast aside. So he teaches Devon nothing about pack life, only that she has to keep being a shifter a secret from humans.
Jared is an Alpha heir of his pack getting ready to take the throne and marry a wolf his father chose to keep the royal blood line in tack. Jared doesn't want, like nor intends to marry this chick because she is horrible. When he meets Devon he falls head over heels knowing he's her true mate. And because he marks her right away this causes issues within the pack, with his father, and this stupid girl. Yup, scorned girl brings Drama!!!
It gets crazy and all kinds of things happen. Kidnappings, abuse, violations and a huge plot twist that I personally saw coming but even still it was fucked up and good!
Like I stated, I liked the book but I wish the author would have cut out most of that high school crap and just moved on to the drama. The main story had me biting my nails but it didn't come until the end and I almost didn't want to continue with the stupid I love you, hate you drama. So if you do read this you're going to have to power through Devon because She is F*cking Ridiculous!
There isn't an epilogue but the couple does get an HEA and it sets you up for book 2. I will definitely keep up with this series because I have to know what happens.

This is the first book I've read by Harper Phoenix and I must say that I really enjoyed it. I read a lot of PNR books so when I come across one that stands out to me, it must be good.
Devon Hathaway leaves the US to attend University in England and to try and fit in with "normal" people her age. You see, Devon is a wolf-hybrid and has spent most of her life moving from place to place, with her dad, and keeping this secret. Knowing that she's different, Devon doesn't make long term friendships or let people into her life. So when she stumbles across Jared one night at a bar she is in for one hell of a shock!
Jared Stone, a wolf shifter and heir to the alpha, has his life mapped out for him. Even down to the purebred female shifter he is supposed to mate. But when he catches Devon's scent everything changes. He knows that she's the female for him and he will stop at nothing to have her.
While this books follows the relationship between Jared and Devon, there is much more going on behind the scenes. From kidnapping and murder to a traitor within the pack, this book has it all.
I would highly recommend checking out this book and this author.

What can I say!!! This book had me wanting more at the end, at first I wasn't 100% sure I would get on with this book, as it is not normally a book I read....but all I can say is it gets better and better the more you go through the book!!! I love her character and how she tries like hell to stand up to the alpha male....she is as stubborn as hell and it's what I love about her. The alpha cracks me up that he is just so weak when it comes to her and tries to be boss but doesn't always work. The whole story has you wanting to read more...it covers every thing in a story and it's not all about the romance but hell it is steamy in places. Well done Harper on a wonderful first book and can't wait for the next one. X

Honestly I didn't know what to think of this book when I first started to read it. I never was a big fan of PNR, but I loved Forbidden Love by Harper Pheonix. This book was well written, extremely sexy and kept you on the edge of your seat.
Devon is a wolf-kitsune hybrid, who was raised by her single father after her mother left at an early age. Being a hybrid means Devon was not welcomed in her father's pack, so he raises her as a nomad and they roam all over the US, never staying in one place for too long. He finally sends her away to college when she meet Jared.

Forbidden Love by Harper Phoenix
This is Harpers first book and as an avid PNR reader, I was delighted to come across a first time author, who writes as if she is a well established author, not a first time author.
I was intrigued from the start, I totally loved the thought of a shifter being a hybrid, this is not something I read before in any paranormal book
Devon has been brought up from the day her mother left by her father, moving around continually has become a way of life, now her father has sent her across the ocean to the UK to attend University, for the first time ever she is on her own, her father has taught her well she knows she must keep secret at all cost she is a wolf-shifter, she knows nothing of the wolf-shifter world, or any shifter world for that matter, then on a night out she stumbles into Jared
Jared is his father’s heir and has been groomed all his life to become the next Alpha of his pack, his father even has his pure bred mate all mapped out for him , that is until one night he scents Devon, and his life is changed forever.
What I loved about this book was how Harper made you relate to not only Devon but Jared as well, what happens when your world as you know it is turned upside down added to that one of them is in a totally new country.
Harper weaves the story only giving away small bits of information at a time, loads of twists and turn, shocking revelations , kidnapping, murder, a traitor in the pack, this book has it all.
If you love Suzanne Wright you will love this it’s in the same vain, and includes the best put down line ever, you will just need to read it to find out what it is

HOLY CRAP WHAT A RIDE!
When I first started this book, I honestly didn't think it was going to be my thing. I like A LOT of action with my books and from the title I felt that this might just be a romantic story. Well, it was that but a WHOLE lot more!
Once I got started on reading this book, I just could not seem to put it down. It was so fast paced and so interesting and intense, I just HAD to know what was going to happen next! There was absolutely no way for me to figure out anything like I normally do, and the action just never stopped!
Just when you think you are able to slow down and take a breath, something else happens that just seems to kick you in the gut. I found myself holding my breath in several spots as well as growling in frustration along with the characters.
The book is so well written that you can actually feel the things they are feeling, as if you were experiencing it first hand right along with them. You bond with the characters and you hate others. It's a very intense ride that I can't wait to continue (really hoping for more books in this series!)
There is a LOT of cussing in this book and A LOT of sexual content but I feel it was what helped to make the story. So this isn't really a complaint, more of an observation for those looking to see if this book is right for you.
The ONLY complaint I have, and it's not even a big one, is I noticed a few punctuation errors and typos, and there was one spot that was definitely in Jared's point of view but had said it was in Devon's. No big deal, easy to read around and figure out. Just felt like it needed mentioning.
Definitely a must read for those into shifter romance novels! You won't be disappointed!

A wonderful book by an amazing author.
I've been fortunate enough to be a beta reader and a ARC reader for this book. It was a good book to start and now it's exceptional. Lots of alpha male goodness with a kick ass alpha female who doesn't roll over and stay.
It's an expectional book with a dark twist you never envisioned bring part of the book. Without giving an spikes away it's well worth the reading and I can't wait to find out whats in store for the rest of the pack. If this book is anything to go by we'll be in for a great treat.

I was very privileged to receive an unformatted e-book version of Forbidden Love and I couldn't put it down! I found the two main characters have a brilliant chemistry. The story held a few edge of your seat moments that just made you want to continue reading even if it was 2am! I cannot wait for the next in the series Well Done Harper!

YES!!!!! Well done Harper!!!!! I received this book as an arc and was apprehensive as I've never read anything like this before but it's was sooooo good.
The story line kept me guessing all the time and then shocked me when with unexpected twists. The characters have you feeling a range of emotions I was sad, happy, angry and quite possibly every other emotion my black heart is not used to feeling.
The sexual chemistry between the two main characters..... what can I say.... I found my self reading it alone on the night time as I felt like I was betraying my husband. This definitely one for those who like more than a bit of sexual activity in their reading.

I am truly in awe of Harper Phoenix. I read a lot of books, and there are some well established authors who are unable to weave a story as well as Harper can. With two very strong main characters, their love was instant, powerful and all consuming. Devon (h) struggles to trust & let go as she has never been a part of a pack before.
Jared (H) certainly wasn't looking for love, not when he could have any woman he wanted. He was completely blindsided by his attraction and need for Devon.
There are many twists and turns that kept me devouring page after page, I most certainly can not wait for the next book in the series.

I really enjoyed this debut book by the talented Harper Phoenix. Once I got started I couldn't put it down and hated to see it end. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride...I laughed, cried, yelled (lol), and swooned at the sweet and hot moments. The chemistry between the two main characters, Jared and Devon was off the charts hot. I was also intrigued by the secondary characters and I hope to see them in future books too!
I really liked the book and can't wait to see what happens next in this series. Well done on your first book and I can't wait to read more from you!!

I received an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely love paranormal romance and this is my first Harper Phoenix but I can honestly say that I can't wait to read more from this author. I don't post spoilers in my review because I want everyone to read the book like I did and I would hate if someone spoiled the book for me. All I have to says is this book has everything you could want in a paranormal story. Love, lust, betrayal. Trust me you won't be sorry for reading this one

I was lucky enough to get an advanced readers copy of this book. This book is fantastic from start to finish. Once I started reading it I just couldn't put it down. I finished reading the book in one day and I'm already doing a reread. I've read many shifter books, but this one is by far my favorite of them all!!! I am anxiously waiting the next book in the series. Great Job Harper!!!! Keep up with the fantastic writing!!!!

I was lucky enough to receive an advanced copy of this book. This kind of book isnt normally something I would read but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and Im glad I did. I really enjoyed this book, from start to finish. The storyline was strong and very well written. The characters were great. Great book!

new series and new author...great debut!! characters are amazing and plot sucks you in!! Devon is a strong woman who grows throughout ..Jared is typical alpha male who doesn't know what hits him when he scents Devon but he grows and she becomes his #1!!! secondary characters are amazing and I cannot wait for more!! the plot twists and turns are amazing and new!! great start for a new series!!!

I haven't read a book this great in to long! I loved Jared and he's so swoon worthy and melts you! Devon definitely got the short end of the stick with her mother. Their love story is truly epic and you won't be able to put this book down and not reread it when you finish it. I can't wait to read Brad's book and hope it works out for him! Great job!

I read it in one sitting! It has a great cast of characters, a good plot and the love story is steamy and compelling. The story pulls you in and is developed well. If you love shifter stories this book will not disappoint. I cannot wait to read more.

Devon and Jared's story is one that'll grab your heart and not let go! For Harper's debut book she sure hits it out of the park. Forbidden Love has a hea, super hot characters, a plot that'll keep you hooked, and an ending that'll bring you back for more! #1 read of 2017!

I usually don't read Paranormal too much. Except Harper Pheonix. Because she gives me EVERYTHING I want in from a great story, and even more. Because paranormal might be the canvas, but every colours she adds to it just makes it a pure Masterpiece each time. They way she mix it with erotism, suspenses, story twists.... with a massive "brochette" of strong characters, an endless imagination for sex scenes (truthfully, she masters this part like a magicien, probably the hottest and incredible scenes I've read so far).
Forbidden Love is so many thing that trying to paint a fair review is impossible. But I'll try.
She truly defines the "ALPHA" character type, especially in this book. I know it's about werewolves and we would expect this considering the waters she navigates in... Han! Han! YOU CAN'T begin to imagine how MUCH she covers that part so well. Let me tell you one thing about Jared : his name should figures in the dictionary under the "ALPHA" definition. You crave for those... gosh, GRAB this book! It's BEYOND indescribable! He didn't just make me twirl on my chair, he made me literally fall from it! YES! It's THAT much! He's not hot, he's a goddamn volcano.
And Devon? The true alpha female. She is beyond perfect for him and them together? Crashing the whole damn house down.
So, this is about the hotness part of this book. Now, ADD an OUTSTANDING story to this. Yes, you wont put it down and to tell you the truth, its a long story, but despite that, not only it will makes you forget all your tasks of the day and you will be enticed to a point you wont stop, but you'll be drooling at the end so much, you'll be wishing to start book 2 already (I did, by the way).
I'm usually good to draw a global portrait of a book in a review. A fair one...
But honestly?
This time, nothing is strong enough to describe it and give you an idea of what I mean. You REALLY NEED to read this book. What ever your tastes are when it comes to reading, I'm about 110% convinced that you'll find what you personally like in this book. If its paranormal? COVERED. Hotness? COVERED. Suspense? COVERED. Characters that you crave for? COVERED (what ever your type is, there's one in this that will get to you). Drama? COVERED. Intrigues? COVERED. Addictive? GODDAMN WELL COVERED.
There's isn't enough of 5 stars for this book to follow my usual rating for points I allow for all you get with this book.
So I do what I usually do in that situation: I'll give 5 diamonds.
And yes... you'll get all you want from book 2 too! If you start with this Series, you wont waste your time AND you'll want even more. Always more.

She is attending school and becomes close friends with her roomie, Maiya.
Once Jared meets Devon there is an instant chemistry between the two of them and he marked her immediately. I loved his cocky, possessive attitude and her stubbornness!!
Now their is a traitor in the pack, kidnapping, murder, suspense, family deceit and hot sexy scenes.
Loved Brad's banter and interruptions!! Howard is the observant, quiet type with a little glimmer of darkness. Can't wait to read the next book, Complicated Love about Brad and Maiya. Hopefully there is a book in the works about Howard (hint hint). A fabulous book by an amazing author.

Loved Brad's banter and interruptions!! Howard is the observant, quiet type with a little glimmer of darkness. Can't wait to read the next book, Complicated Love about Brad and Maiya. Hopefully there is a book in the works about Howard (hint hint). A fabulous book by an amazing author.

Devon had moved around all her life. Never having friends, never fitting in falling under the radar. Then she gets shipped off to school and meets Jared. She doesn't understand the feelings he illicts from her. Jared is not one to settle down. Women are a means to an end. So he first understand the feelings Devon bring out of him. Then he marks her the first time they are together. These two bring out the best and worst In each other. Devon wasn't brought up in a pack so she doesn't understand how they work so she keeps running away from what she's feeling. And Jared keeps bringing her back. Then things get complicated. Devon starts to embrace her wolf side and become a stronger person. I was glad because i was tired of her running away and just wanted her to man up and stop running. I can't wait to see what else this pack has to offer.

I loved this book! I read it in one sitting! Devon is hybrid shifter and during her first week of college she meets Jared a wolf whiter in a club. I loved the fact that shifters were secret and how he claimed her, consequences be damned! A must read!

Wow, what a book!! Devon and Jared's story had me from the very beginning. Devon is a strong woman that has kept secrets her whole life. Jared is a cocky, alpha werewolf that is instantly taken by Devon. This book is full of ups and downs, and will have you falling in love with all the characters!! It's a must read!

I think we should get one thing out of the way first. This author can write ;P The way the author weaves the story together creates a nice flow and some definite surprises along the way. The characters and plot points are well developed and I encountered some definite hawtness while reading. I recommend this book to all PNR fans and even non PNR fans, especially if they are looking to give the genre a first try. I was given a free copy of this book in the hopes I would voluntarily read it and give an honest opinion about it and that's what I've done.
