It was supposed to be one night. But then it became so much more. She’s pregnant.
Sierra: I never anticipated the two pink lines, the shock of pregnancy, from one night with Denver Kane. Sure, I’ve been hot for him since before he realized I existed. But that doesn’t mean he’s about to become a family man. Even if I’m having his baby.
Denver: She was off-limits, my little sister’s best friend. Until I crossed the line, not knowing it would change everything. Now she’s pregnant and my future looks different. I want to share in her sunny optimism and believe in new beginnings. Except I’m not cut out for it. Not anymore.
But I can’t walk away from her, from them, and the crazy thing is, I don’t want to.
Hi! I'm Gina and I write realistic, relatable, sweet New Adult and Contemporary Romance books. A NJ native, I have lived and worked abroad before settling in Canada with my husband and Littles. Although I can't iron (at all), I am a passionate reader, frequent globetrotter, and aspiring baker (recipes appreciated!). I love hearing from fellow readers so please connect!
Well like the previous book, this book is more vanilla romance. ONS resulting on pregnancy. Because Miss Azzi is more into clean sweet romance, she delivers in Reclaiming Brave. The story has no drama/ conflict. It fills with sweet clean vanilla romance.
The chemistry between Denver and Sierra is so so. Not sizzling hot. The sex is also PG 13. I do like how the author inserts an experience about pregnancy. I usually do not like this vanilla romance. But somehow the writing style of Miss Azzi makes me listening to the audio book until the end.
But it was still good. A reverse kind of Cinderella where the girl is rich and the boy is poor. But it was sweet. There was only like five pages of angst and then it was back to sunshine and roses. Everyone was perfect and beautiful. Most of them were rich and everything turned out wonderful. Maybe it's my mood but it was just too much sweetness and light. The whole family was freaking amazing. Accepting, forgiving and I don't know if in said this before but they are definitely rich. I know. I am a buzz kill today.
Gina has done it again! The Kane Brothers series is now complete with Denver’s story. I Loved the way this quiet brooding character turned into mush with Sierra. Sierra and Denver’s relationship started as a fling but that’s just the beginning. Read how finding out they’re becoming parents changes everything. I’m also excited to hear sister Daisy is getting her own story!
I have loved this series. I loved Jax and Evie’s story, I loved Carter and Taylor’s story. But this one is the best! Much like the character of Sierra, I have been quietly swooning over Denver Kane for a while now. To finally see him throw himself out there was a thing of beauty!
Honestly, I didn’t expect this story to go the way that it did. I expected a song and dance around each other before they finally gave in, yet, the fantastic Gina Azzi did not make us wait. Most of the plot, conflict, and so on revolved around Denver and Sierra after she discovered that she was pregnant.
Sierra is an incredible main character that I loved from beginning to end. Yes, I’ve had an ongoing crush on Denver, but he disappointed me once or twice in this installment of the series. No worries, because I forgave him and understood the backstory, and overall, he was fabulous – yet the author really did some digging into Denver throughout this book. It was both refreshingly honest and frustrating, but completely wonderful.
My only criticism of the novel is Sierra’s family. Maybe I’m just jaded from my own dysfunctional upbringing, but it was hard to believe that her family was so incredible from beginning to end. Don’t get me wrong, I loved them all, but found myself thinking a few times, “there are no families that are these loving and laid back.”
Anyway, Reclaiming Brave is amazing. It starts with curiosity and passion, moves onto the hope of new beginnings and new love, suffers through some tough bumps in the road, but ends with a happily-ever-after that brought me to tears multiple times. I loved, loved, loved this book and am on pins and needles waiting for Daisy’s story!
*Thanks TO GMB for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review!
The Kane brothers books are like catching up with an old friend whenever a new one is released. I forget they are characters in a book, so much so that I am going to San Antonio soon and I thought to myself, “hmmm I wonder where Jax and Evie live!” Now that’s good writing! Denver’s story is no different. I was looking forward to his story since he’s the quiet one in the other two books. I wondered what it was that made him tick. And what in the world was happening with him and Sierra!? We find out all the answers in this book and revisit with our old friends Jax, Evie, Carter, and Taylor. I love these books and am looking forward to Daisy’s story!!
Once again, Gina Azzi has knocked it out of the park.
What I love the most about Reclaiming Brave is that it diverged from the usual formula of her previous books. Usually for the two main characters, the romance that blossoms between them is the payoff that happens at the end. This time, it happened at the beginning. Denver and Sierra engage in one night of lovemaking and boom, it changes both their lives forever.
Sierra, like most of Azzi's leading ladies, is strong and independent, yet unsure about her future. Denver, typical of her leading guys, is strong and handsome but has a deeply troubled soul. As these two begin to plan their lives together, circumstances from outside threaten to end their relationship before it really begins. How her characters - good souls with a few rough edges - overcome adversity is what makes her stories so damn great to read.
I might have asked for a little more closure of the issues plaguing Denver in this book, but given the time-frame, I can see why it wasn't all resolved. Hopefully I'll get that closure in Daisy's story (and she's a real pistol that totes deserves her own book!).
If you love real romance with real characters that could be people you know - warts and all - then Gina Azzi might just become one of your favorite authors. She's already one of mine.
This book was absolutely amazing. Denver and Sierra just stole a piece of my heart. Their struggles they had to overcome weren't easy but they never have up. 😍😍
A lovely ending to the Kane brothers, while leaving us wanting more on their little sister Daisy. I loved finally getting to know more about Denver and seeing him let himself find some happiness. I'd say this book is a standalone, but it really benefits the reader to enjoy the first two books in the series to fully understand all the backstory and family dynamics.
Reclaiming Brave is a best friend's older brother romance. Sierra has long has a thing for her best friend Daisy's older brother Denver. When the inevitable happens, they can't put it in the past as they're now expecting a baby together. They each have to face their pasts to create a future for the baby and figure out how to make their relationship work.
Sierra is the light and airy side to this story. Denver is the dark and brooding mystery. Opposites attracting. But opposites can work. Sierra grew up in privilege, with a unique family tree that wasn't super close. She's a young artist trying to find her place in a world full of possibilities. Meanwhile Denver grew up without as much; his father severely negatively impacting his young adult life. He's not sure the future has much possibility for him. But when he finds he has a baby on the way, he finds he wants to share in Sierra's bright outlook for the future, and do better, be better, make changes, and stand brave.
There were little tidbits dropped in previous books about how Sierra felt about Denver, and the whisper of Denver thinking the same of Sierra. But they kept it to themselves to keep Daisy happy and not ruin family and friendships. When they combust on a couch (always a couch!), they try to make it everything so that it won't happen again, can't happen again. But the pregnancy changes everything. Denver has to come to terms with the idea of if he can be a good father. He's a great lover, but he needs to be more. So while he works on the father and relationship thing, they make the most of the hormones and have no problems with their sex life!
I love this author! Miss Azzi draws you into the Kane family and you shed tears of sorrow and hope and joy with them, for them. I loved the evolution of Denver in this book and the way his family rallies around him, and how he deals with Sierra's family.
Conclusion - Recap how you felt about the book. Will you read other books by this author? Would you recommend this book to others? Final thoughts on book. This book is a close second for my favorite in the series. Denver had lost so much it was heartwarming to see him gain such light and love. I can't wait to too how he deals with his baby (not giving away the cupcake filling color!). Books that draw me in for the long haul, a series where I get to know all the family and friends, town and backstory are my favorite. You get to adopt them as yours for a while, instead of your own insane life for a while. So my thanks to the author for such amazing books, studly men, well rounded women, and great descriptions of hometowns. Can't wait for Daisy's story!
Favorite Quotes: “Denver exudes confidence, an unapologetic boldness that shifts the entire dynamic of a room the moment he enters.” “Her mischievous smirk pisses me off as much as it turns me on.” “Her idealism and zest for life pissed me off in its naivete and yet, I wanted to listen to her speak for hours, learn more about the way her mind worked, see the world the way she did, if only for a moment.” “From the first time I laid eyes on Denver Kane, I wanted to make him smile. Laugh. Trade a bit of his ever present severity for a spark of mischief.” “We're in this, whatever this is, together.” “Sierra lives with so much enthusiasm, such a zest for life.” “It's important to embrace the present for all the wonder it offers...Not to continually live in or compare the now to the past.” “I want to be worthy for my family. I want to be enough. And I will be.”
Reclaiming Brave (The Kane Brothers, #3) By Gina Azzi 5 stars Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction Book Blog
I was so excited to read this book after loving books 1 and 2 in the series! I couldn’t wait to get more of these Kane brothers. This book could easily be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the first two as well!! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from Denver but I really liked him. He had this dark, brooding quality about him that made him really sexy! I think it was pretty obvious that deep down he really cared for Sierra and they did seem to have this genuine connection. I really did like Sierra, yes she was young but she appeared quite mature for her age. The huge difference between the two was their upbringings and they couldn’t have been more different. They both have their own issues to work through. I love how this author manages to pull me into her characters’ lives with ease, I found myself rooting for them the whole way through the story. I think that this was the perfect ending to the Kane Brothers series and I am absolutely looking forward to more from this author in the future!
This book took me on a roller coaster my emotions went wild on some parts. Denver is the quiet Kane brother. He spent some time in jail. Like I said he didn’t same much in past books. He made you wonder about him. He is dark and brooding and he now sees and wants what his brothers have. Sierra is his sister Daisy’s best friend. He has pushed her away for years.
All because he knows what will happen if he starts something up with her. Sierra is at a point in her life where she wants to do what she wants to do and not what her family wants. She has had a crush on her best friends older brother for year. While visiting she finally decides to take a chance which results in an unplanned pregnancy. How will Denver react he is still quite caught up in his past and that horrible father of his. When you read about this man you just which he would just disappear.
Denver his character did surprise me he his character goes a whole lot deeper than I thought he would and Sierra she is a breath of fresh air for him and has always wanted to see him smile and laugh.
If you have not read this series yet I suggest give it a go. You will be happy with this story.
If you would’ve told me I’d love Denver Kane as much as I do, I’d call you a bold faced lie! He was rude and broody but dayum did that man change my mind! He’s kind, thoughtful, loving and tender. I’m in complete and total awe of that man’s heart. It took him a minute to realize his worth, and for that he frustrated me quite a bit, but he redeemed himself!
Sierra is an amazing heroine. Down to earth, funny, so laid back...easy to love. Together they completely stole my heart!
I little twist in the plot made their one night of magical hotness a lasting thing. One that they were both all in for!
The family dynamics here are something to be envious of. If only I had a huge blended family like theirs :)
I loved Denver & Sierra’s love story!
Each Kane brother is better than the rest (well, in his own way). I can’t wait for Daisy‘s turn!
My favorite of the three. Denver and Sierra are both just so broken that they fit together. One night they'd never planned to repeat turned into a life changing adventure. Sierra had been in love with her best friends brother for years, never imagining she'd get her chance with him. An artist, she spent most of her time resisting her family's urging to give it all up and work with them.
And then Denver happens and she has more reason to stay. These characters are well-developed and lovable even with all their flaws. I couldn't stop reading this and finished in one sitting. Truly worth the read. A beautiful story.
I really enjoyed Denver and Sierra’s story. I pretty much always enjoy a good story where a surprise baby is involved, and this one did not disappoint. I was frustrated at times with the both of them. Denver was stubborn, thought he knew what he wanted, but, at the same time, that’s not what his heart was asking for. Sierra was trying to stay positive and see the silver lining.
This is was my first read by this author and also book 3 in a series. I really wish I’d have read the first two books before getting to this one. I will definitely go back to them.
Once again this author caught my Heart with Her powerful story. Full of Love, angst, confusion and everything That happen in characters minds. Denver had felt something for his baby sister best friend Sierra. And one Night of passion will get The wheels of Life into The motion. Sierra is a girl That Has it all. Will she accept Denver whose past is not That Great. I recommend it to fans of contemporary romances That are sweet and true to The Core.
Denver Kane is the oldest, of three brothers and one sister. There is Jax his brother, who was in the military. He suffers from, PTSD. But, he has recently returned home and is adjusting to life, without the military. Connecting with his family and reconnecting, with an important person from his past. Evie is helping him find his happiness once again. Jax and Evie are moving to, San Antonio, Texas. Denver knows if he had someone, to call the love of his life. He would follow her, to the ends of the earth if, he could.
Then there is, Carter. Carter is the brother, not unlike his brothers, who have women dropping at his feet, just from a look. But, for the first time, Friday night, he has a date with, Taylor. And, his whole fandamily will be there to witness it, and of course, jeer him. He must be serious about Taylor to be taking her on a date. Poor guy, wait until, Daisy and, Sierra get back from the airport.
The thought of the weekend is making, Denver, however, hyperventilate. You see the minute, Jax said, Sierra was coming to visit Daisy their baby sister. She is anything but a baby. Daisy just graduated and is in the throws, of job hunting. Sierra and, Daisy were roommates, for the last four years of college. The weekend, Daisy brought, Sierra home for a visit, Denver liked to have swallowed his teeth. He would rather do that, than tell the truth about how taken he was with, Sierra.
Sierra Begay has had it bad for Denver since her sophomore year and he never even acknowledges her. The most she ever gets from him when she directly says hello is a nod. Yet, his dark-as-night stares pierce right through her. He always oozes confidence and unapologetic boldness. For years, Sierra has tried to be friendly, and carry conversations with him like, she does with Carter but, he shuts her down. That doesn't stop her she always tries again. She hasn't moved on as far as crushes go, no her foolish, hopeless heart still beats faster at the sight of, Denver. It's so obvious that he is trying to get away from where she’s at that Daisy even asks if there is something going on between the two of them. With blistering embarrassment, she resigns to admit she doesn't think, he likes her much.
She diverts their attention back to teasing, Carter about taking his date to, Raf's. This causes Daisy to laugh good and hard, making her teasing begin again. With that, Carter states he’s leaving. Ever the big brother, tells the girls that whatever they decide to do with their night, to be safe. When the door closes, Sierra asks Daisy, “He doesn't have a clue does he?” “None whatsoever.” Telling, Sierra that she never thought she would see the day when Carter would find “the girl” to settle down with. Sierra is just relieved it's, Carter and not, Denver, and with her having to be there to witness it. She knows one day, Denver Kane will fall in love. Sierra already knows her heart will break. He'll just never know it. No one will.
However, he shores himself up for the long night of watching, Daisy and, Sierra drink too much, them getting hit on, and them dancing way, too close to sleazy guys. It's torture for him. Now, Sierra is home listening to, Daisy’s little whistling snores as she tries, to sleep next to her. She starts to hear other sounds: Evie Facetiming her brother and her easy laughter, Jax and Denver’s voices are a low rumble as they mingle in the background, but no Carter. Making sense since Taylor was practically sleepwalking home from Raf’s. Then a door closes and a calm settles on the house.
Feigning her need for a glass of water, Sierra heads downstairs. The changing of the channels confirms it's, Denver. She readies herself and heads downstairs for alone time with, Denver, it's now or never. Once seated next to him not only does the temperature rise, but so does, Sierra’s awareness of, Denver’s breathing. When he shifts on the sofa, bringing their bodies closer, Sierra becomes braver. Her hand starts to roam and he states her name once and freezes. His eyes held shut tight, until he says, F-it! One night and she bails the next morning under what appears to be good standings with everyone, but Daisy knows something is off. So does, Denver. See how all their lives change in just six short weeks. Sorry didn't like the ending at all. Felt cheated. Felt like it was a cliffhanger. 😳😟
Denver and Sierra's story was one I wasn't willing to put down. From the moment their story really began in Recovering Beauty, I knew this was one I would fall heavily into.
Denver has been through so much in his life, and he did everything to protect his family. To keep them safe. Nothing is changing when it comes to protecting them either. Then there's Sierra who recently graduated college, is trying to figure out her future, and wants to follow her passions. Yet she is adamant that working for her family is not what she wants. So when she finds out that she's pregnant, things really begin to kick in for her.
I loved how this relationship played out. From the mutual attraction, to Denver being Denver, to the eventual fall. Plus there was Daisy's reaction which was just as good.
I did want to smack some sense into Denver after everything that went down, but his family took care of that. Then the situation with Sierra had me gasping, and I fully admit that tears were about to fall. So glad that everything worked out there, and of course even happier when the HEA occurred.
The only things I'm left wondering is what happens with Darren, and how does Finn get all of this taken care of. Perhaps there will be some answers in One Last Chance?
not a rec and i gots things to say about it sadly! let's start with the completely inadequate physical description of like. even our two main characters. which was wild esp in the context of a romance. despite the cover art, guy has a man bun, which, whatever, but the length of time it took for me to know that?? like, embarrassingly long. well after they have sex, i think.
there's also a lack of like. i hate to say consequences but perhaps follow thru? is a better way to put it? on certain messes. like, multiple times we have bodily fluids mentioned, and then, mysteriously disappear without being cleaned up. incl. one of the grossest morning sickness interludes i've ever had the misfortune of reading.
most importantly ... i want to mention the fact that the native american rep in this (Another Surprise to me!) was a little ... troubling. on the plus side we've got a character with ties to a specific tribe, and a character who isn't that actively involved in the culture, which skirts a lot of issues around appropriation, etc. but on the other, what we Do have is. well. fairly stereotypical/reductive with a free spirit father and a grandmother who has Dreams, and it feels like a plot device more than anything else. as far as i know the author is not native herself which just gives the whole thing another layer of ick. it's one of those things that unless i know there's been sensitivity readers or an own voices author i have big pause.
AUDIO REVIEW 4 Stars for Reclaiming Brave ( The Kane Brothers #3) I love Gina Azzi’s Hockey and Rockstar romances but I missed this series completely so when it came up on special on audible I jumped at the chance to listen. As much as I enjoyed Sierra and Denver’s story I think I need to read or listen to the previous books to get the more out of this one. Sierra is off limits because she is his best friends little sister but we all know we can’t always control what our heart wants even when our head is saying something else. One night of passion is about to change both their life’s forever so will Denver stay or will he run…… Can a woman and his baby get his heart beating again, one click to find out. Madeleine Dauer and Noah Michael Levine did a great job bringing the characters and their journey to life. They were spot on with the narration and very easy to listen to.
Some of this story is introduced in prior books about these families. However, the opening chapters catch you up quickly. This is Sierra and Denver’s story. She is an artist with an absent artist father and a wealthy Scottish stepfamily pressing her to drop art for high-level marketing. He is the son of a man who had he framed for his dad’s crime and he is struggling to put life together now he is out of jail. They have been friends for years due to her friendship with his sister. They finally have a 1 night stand … preggers … putting life together. It is a very enjoyable reclaiming life and success story. It just felt like it suddenly ended. Of course, it continues in the next story.
3.5 A light hearted romance with very little conflict or drama. The pregnancy brought the two impossibles together and they worked hard for making their lives better, while making a home for the baby. Plot is pretty simple and sober. At times it had me wondering are things that easy in real life, no! I know I know we shouldn't compare fictional aspects everytime to real lives, bit consider as another escapade, taking it as it is, bit still I kept imagining only if it were that simple. Okayish for a one time read, light romance, loving family, hard working individuals and responsible adults and even the young readers can enjoy.
Tropes: - best friend’s brother - one night stand - accidental pregnancy
POV: first person - dual
Type: interconnected stand-alone (book three)
I only picked up this book bc the guy on the cover looks like Logan Lerman if he was a mountain man.
The ending was more of a happy for now and gave no closure that a happy ever after gives. No birth scene, don’t even know the baby’s name, just just ends after they get engaged.
She was friends with his sister, and they pretended not to like each other. They had a one night stand and she ended up pregnant, they decided to give it a go. He wanted to clear his name and be there for them, his father told him he would never be able to protect them. In the end he decided that she was worth it and they were happy together

Gina Azzi allowed me to see inside of her world with this series. I liked how she the words flow together . She also allowed the couple to jump in the river from the bridge kind of relationship fast rush but had bumps in their path allowing them to grow.
I loved all three books in this series all the characters have a strength about them that aren’t fully aware of. They have flaws but overcome them to make a better life it’s also about family and the problems which happen in a family when you hide a secret which affects others
dnf! this is the first time i've read GA's stories and the cover and summary looked promising. as soon as i read "convict, 30 years old, couch" i was disgusted and stopped. my contemporary taste in romance is not this. thank god i got it for free.
