LAKEN
I was a fraud.
Lying to cover my past.
But when you’ve grown up in a world that has caused so much pain, you’d do almost anything to try and escape the guilt.
For years I lived in hell, paying my dues.
I had perfected a smile that no one could see through.
Except for him.

MYTH
I was a fighter.
It burned in my blood.
It was something I couldn’t escape, and while other fighters were out to make money and prove their worth, all I gave a damn about was the club and protecting the people I loved.
Seeing the spark in her eyes, I was instantly addicted. There was this chaos that whipped around her, it was beautiful and fierce, but I could tell it was used to keep people away.
When the heat of my anger radiated off me, she didn’t run, she stepped closer.
So I knew I had to use it to keep her warm.

The demons of her past are coming back for her.
And they’re about to realize she's no longer standing alone.

I read both Kennedy and Laken’s stories back to back as my intro to Addison Jane. I can’t say that I love everything about the author’s style of writing, but both the stories were solid AND they intrigued me enough to go back to the beginning with Harmony’s story. I was not only intrigued to find out about the MC, but also the connections it had in the world (if you’re lost by this statement then you’re just gonna have to jump right in like I did and find out what I’m talking about LOL)

From my perspective, LAKEN is not a standalone. I do not recommend you start with this book. You should really read Kennedy’s story first in order to get a full picture of the how/when/etc thing to Laken’s history/background. I mean it isn’t a duet or anything, but the stories go together. You’re going to have to trust me on this.

Now that I’ve read a few of the other books by this author I can tell you that if you’re a fan of the author, she’s done you proud with this new series. Addison Jane is consistent. Her story-lines are … enormous, not over-the-top, but grandiose for sure. Her books are also very inclusive so the club’s ARC will follow thru each book along with the spotlight member going after their HEA. Laken’s story did not disappoint in any of these traits. To be honest, the story didn’t disappoint in much of anything. There are random plot points that still baffle me and left me wondering why in they heck they were even in the book, but I’m beginning to see (from going back to the beginning with the previous series) this might actually be part of the author’s charm LOL

This turned out to be a really great experience for me as a reader. I love to read MC romance fiction and this author has written a good MC series from the perspective of the club girls and not the actual members. I’m sure there are others out there like this, but it isn’t the norm, so for me, it’s impressive and new and unique.

This book was everything I hoped it would be and so much more. Laken has been through a lot in her life and she keeps on fighting. She strong, loyal, and has a huge heart. The exact same can be said about Myth. He’s everything you want in a bad boy biker. These two broken soles come together in a story filled with love, steam, action, and jaw-dropping twists. Five stars isn't enough for this one.

I really enjoyed Laken it drew from beginning to end and I can't wait to read what's to come for this series and other books by Addison Jane . This is book two of the Phoenix club girls and can be read as a standalone by I recommend that you read the first book first . I loved the characters they really interested me and had me wanting more and of course the story line is what also drew me in and had me craving what's to come . I always put my heart into what I'm readin and that Id what the author does for me everything she writes is mind blowing .

2020 is looking good with how good Laken was. I absolutely fell in love with Myth and Laken. I can certainly see why they took so long to write.

Laken has so many layers, she is like an onion. Her story is absolutely heartbreaking, full of secrets, lies. All though piece by piece is revealed and you soon realise why this chick decided to lie.

If any of the patch members could balance her out with their brokenness it was definitely Myth.

Sometimes all it takes is two broken people to heal each other, protect each other and love one another.

Sometimes that’s the beauty in being broken.

The moment these two meet, the word Soulmates were what I could see with these two. The immediate connection these two had was so strong that you feel the magnetic pull.

I certainly can’t wait for the next one in this series, I’m obsessed. Let’s hope the next couple aren’t stubborn and they give Addison all the words quickly.

I liked what we saw if Laken in the last book, didn't think we could get worse than Kennedy's past, but this one rivals it. I'm glad that Kennedy had the guys look for Laken, glad that she was good to go with them and get back people in her life who were important to her.

When Laken's past came out I was so stunned. You knew there was a connection to Myth, didn't expect that. I did love how Myth was into her from the start and how he protected her and gave her a safe space to really tell what happened to her. I loved seeing the whole club have Laken's back, that she was important to people for the right reason for once.

The drama at the end was so over the top, but now Laken and Myth can just live and be happy, no threats to hang over either of them any more.

The second book in the Phoenix Club Girl Diaries will take you on a journey of two scarred souls who will find the calm within the storm in each others arms. Laken and Myth's story is gritty, raw and action packed. Two people who are linked by a past and must fight their way out to finally move forward. Myth is a character that owned my heart and had me captivated right from the start. Their story is full of twists, turns and surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat. As you take the ride with these two, your anxiety levels will soar, your pulse will race but ultimately you will fall in love right along with these two as the passion and heat that repairs their souls takes hold.

The only reason that I am leaving this book a 3 star review is because I actually finished it. It was touch and go at the 70 percent mark. For me, I really didn't care about whether or not these two characters were every going to get their happily ever after. I couldn't connect with them. They were almost interchangeable, and by the time it was over, I was just relieved to be done. I thoroughly enjoyed the Alabama chapter's stories, but there's a huge disconnect in Phoenix. It's just not the same.

Sweet

The ending was certainly a cliffhanger for another of the brothers that was for sure but I love how they all came together for Laken. She had it tough in more ways then one. But someone saw through all of the fog to get the real girl that was breaking apart and put her back together again. It was touching loved it

I am loving this series! Laken was full of drama, a strong woman and a man confident enough to handle it.

We all have demons and need a helping hand sometimes. Laken and Myth were an amazing couple. They did not try and change each other, but just loved through the crazy. It was touching and I enjoyed these two.

That ending, dear God, that ending has me racing into book 3.

[1.75 star] overall, still okay. just a little draggy. don't really like how easily the heroine's father died, he should be exposed and imprisoned till he die.

It’s no secret Addison Jane is one of my favorite authors and The Club Girl Diaries one of my favorite series. Laken has been highly anticipated and Addison delivered 110%. I was literally hooked from page one. Laken has overcome so much in her life and I love how strong she is. Myth is everything I want in an H. He and Laken fit together perfectly. Their story is filled with so much love, strength, passion, and suspense. It will also show you two people who overcome life’s challenging obstacles but also the rewards waiting for them on the other side. All those things molded together delivers the perfect story. Laken and the entire Club Girl Diaries series is a must read.

The long eagerly awaited story of Laken is here and IWASNOTREADYFORIT.

I'm so happy that Addison took her time with this book. I'm not a writer so I can't possibly understand how hard it is but I do know a book that's had everything poured into making it something special and this is definitely that.

From the first page Addison wastes no time in easing us in. Nope, nada. Straight off questions are answered and history is told. We learn exactly how Laken came to be at that club and how Kennedy fit into her life. As the story progresses there is a tangible tension building quietly in the background. The unknown is really what keeps you on your toes with this story because you honestly have no clue with Laken's past what's going to be revealed.

As I've said from the beginning of reading all the Club girl diaries, these books are so unique. A very original perspective of a club girl and the MC and how they balance the lifestyle with their own future goals aswell as how they are treated by everyone. I am all about women empowerment and the right to be free to do what ever you want so long as it is what's you want and these stories embody that to a T. So yassssss hand clap to Addison for being so creative in her craft and given her ladies their own special kind of power.

Myth is just my favourite. That man is such a well put together human despite all the hard he has faced throughout his life. He has his shit put together mentally and whilst he obviously has his moments.. for the most part he's very self aware of his flaws and his limits and in no way oblivious to his past actions or regretful over them.

Laken is my sweet fiesty love. I wasn't prepared for her story and I think for someone to have been through so much to still be standing after is a damn miracle. She feels everything is a way that's harmful to herself. Her need to help, to protect and to hide is a lethal combination that is her making and undoing.

Their story isn't just some sweet easy ride but you are already expecting that right?. It is so much more. Honestly I didn't expect her story but I absolutely did not expect his either. Their lives have not been easy and they both took very different paths when it came to dealing with the aftermath. Myth and Laken are both extremely strong characters that are built completely different. I found them to balance eachother out in a way I haven't seen in the other characters of this series(s). His methodical logic and her deep feeling seem to create a harmonious balance within them as a couple that is so sweet to read and very much deserved.

A story of facing reality and overcoming the past. The character growth is something of greatness. The strength and humility of these humans just continue to surprise me along with the love they all have for eachother. This is a family unit be that a tad dysfunctional it's one you'd want standing with you through the hard times. The connection between them all is palpable and the chemistry so natural it's as if they've always been. Hardships and heartbreak, growth and learning, a united strength between very different people who all share love for eachother in different ways.

Suspenseful, action packed, sweet and at times sinfully delicious. You get a little of everything to keep you on your toes making it unpredictable, exciting and nerve wracking to read. I cried, fumed, laughed, loved and sighed in utter contentment. There are time where you will curse Addison because you didn't expect what was coming and by the end you'll be left positively shookith wondering how the fuck she managed to whip it around like that so seamlessly. It's a slow growing journey so don't expect it all to hit you at once. There was ALOT of thing to address here and I think she did a great job focusing on what was the most important and filtering it through so they didn't overtake the whole story whilst still addressing the facts head on.

There is still a few things I'm curious on that I would have loved to have been touched on a little more towards the end of the book but I'm also aware that it wasn't necessarily needed to complete the story and definitely wasn't the main plot so alas it wasn't missing anything except my greedy need for more.

Also that ending with Shotgun. WHATTHEACTUALFUCK. How could you leave us like that. Absolutely not. INEEDITNOW!!!.

WOW! Dynamic series w anti-heroes and all the feels - Highly Recommend!

I would not consider this to be a stand-alone read. There is too much history missing from what happened with the Red Riot MC that is covered within “Kennedy”, the first story of the series. In addition, there are reoccurring characters, concurrent timelines, and overarching themes.

** There are quite a few potential triggers in this series. I have listed examples below, but sensitive readers may need to skip this one **

⛔️ Contains references to, or scenes detailing, subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some, including: adult language; derogatory terms; mental health challenges such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, suicidal tendencies, suicide attempts, sociopathic and psychopathic personalities; steamy adult intimate scenes with dominance, submission, restraints, spanking for pleasure and punishment; violence stereotypical of the outlaw MC genre such as kidnapping, abduction, murder, death, torture, assault, fighting (play, street, professional and underground / illegal), rape, drug use, drug distribution, gun running, betrayal, prostitution, subterfuge, blackmail, threats, the mental, physical and sexual abuse of females and children, child neglect, etc.

There are grammatical issues throughout, but nothing difficult to interpret. Primarily these consist of missing punctuation, incorrect word choice / tense, missing words, and extra inserted words. I am mentioning these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.

In this story we learn more about Laken’s past, what caused her to start working at the strip club owned by the Red Riot MC, and where she was finally located after everything happened after the Brothers By Blood MC intervened. As for Myth, we see the escalation between him and Jester (another MMA fighter that wants Myth to come out of retirement), the life and structure he has built to help overcome his ADHD.

The characters, storyline and universe are dynamic and the pace is good. There are a few things that could have been a little more detailed (sorry can’t tell you, as it is later in the story and would reveal a major spoiler), but that is just me … always wanting more.

I love how Addison Jane makes me root for the anti-hero and I can’t wait to start the next one and add her catalogue to my TBR list.

There is a storyline cliffhanger for the start of the next story in the series, but everything with Laken and Myth is resolved.

Oh Wow the 2nd book in 'The Phoenix Club Girl Diaries' is brilliant a 5* read all the way.

If you have read any of my reviews you will know I love a good MC book and what I love about this series and the series that started it all - 'The Club Girl Diaries' is that this focuses on the women of the club's it isn't pretty its not sugar coated these are tough girls who had to make some tough decisions and those might not be right for some but who am I to judge as they make for some great books!

Laken is best friends of Kennedy from the first book in this new series. When Kennedy moved to Phoenix suddenly Laken was left on her own not wanting to stay with Crow and continue stripping for the Red Riot MC she flies. What she didn't know is that Kennedy was looking for her.

Laken had never told Kennedy about her life before they meet not that she had the pretend perfect life money clothes everything she wanted but behind the mask of the perfect life it wasn't so perfect hence the reason she ran; not only running from her family but the demons that plagued her mind.

When Repro Kennedys boyfriend find's her she is in hospital not just any hospital one with bars and white jackets. But that doesn't stop Repro getting her out and back to the safety of his ole Lady.

The Brothers in Blood MC where Laken is taken is a family and they look out for their own which Laken now is; her demons buried once again until she meets Myth one of the brothers in the club who she remembers from her past but hopes he doesn't remember her! Myth is drawn to Laken there is something in her eyes when nobody is looking that shows her pain and for someone like Myth who hasn't ever wanted an 'Ole Lady' these feelings he has for her are unsettling.

Laken for the first time ever feels safe - safe in a mans arms who happens to Myth with problems of his own a prize MC fighter world known he gave up the ring to concentrate on his gym helping youngster from crappy homes see there is a way out. But an old enemy from the ring days 'Jester' wants a rematch and he isn't above killing to get Myths attention

Laken's past is about to explode into the here and now and it isn't going to be pretty - when two problems become one death and destruction seem the likely outcome.

I think that this story could have been better. There was a lot right at the beginning that I found to be confusing and I couldn’t really follow. I liked the couple and their romance though.

Laken is a woman with demons. She is running of her past and she seems to get her self into increasingly worse situations. Laken is rescued from a psychiatric hospital by the MC her best friend has become a part of and she decides to become a club girl. Myth is a member of the MC and he is drawn to Laken.

It has been a really long time since I read the first book in this series and the previous series that this one is connected to. That might be part of the reason why I was so confused but I don’t think that was all of it. There seemed to be a bunch of time and location jumps right at the beginning of the story that were not pointed out so I felt like I had to make a lot of assumptions that I wasn’t sure were correct. Even if there had just been something small at the beginning of the chapter that stated where and when the events were taking place would have been helpful.

However, I was able to ignore my initial confusion and just dive into the story. I really loved Myth. I thought that the whole UFC fighter angle as homicidal bad guy was a little far fetched but I loved the lengths to which Myth would go to protect the people he loves. I also loved his relationship with Laken. Neither of them were portrayed as being players or sleeping around a crazy amount before being with each other and I really liked that the romance was all about the couple.

This was a fun story and I really enjoyed reading about the couple. I don’t think that I would read it again but I would go back and read the original Club Girl Diaries series which I really enjoyed.

Myth and Laken feature in this second book in the Phoenix Club Girl Diaries and what a fantastic book it is too. Their stories are both special in their own ways and I admit I have been itching to know them. I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed in this book, it is a brilliantly told tale of two incredible people.

Laken is someone who very quickly became embedded in my heart from the minute she was introduced in book one, Kennedy, of this series and it was obvious she was an extremely caring and loving person. She has an inner strength that is amazing but also the ability to put herself last and others first to her own detriment.

Myth is a truly protective, alpha male and his caring attitude for his family, be they blood or not, is paramount to him no matter the consequences to himself. See? These two are perfect for each other! 😉

It’s great being back with the characters from the other books too, like old friend week. I’ve truly missed them but it didn’t take long to become reacquainted with them all and this is because of the terrific character descriptions. Once each are built up they are there, you know them, you are friends. 😂

This book has it all; an original storyline which is fast paced and filled with action, drama, and suspense that has your adrenaline set on high as well as a romance that is deep and meaningful. You experience every emotion possible from laughing with the characters to crying with them. There’s more going on at the one time to keep you on your toes too. I am already looking forward to Avery, book three.

Laken is the second title in the Phoenix Club Girl Diaries. This is a story of overcoming your past, that is full of intrigue, suspense, danger, action and passion.

The Brothers By Blood MC has a blend of unique, yet dysfunctional characters who blend together seamlessly to make for a captivating and engaging read. These characters are realistic and flawed, and this makes them all the more relatable.

Laken’s story is confronting and she has endured her fair share of pain and heartache, but it doesn’t keep her down. She’s incredibly strong, resilient and big hearted. This heroine is protective, loyal, caring and compassionate, and has a tendency to put others needs before her own, even if it’s to her own detriment.

Myth is a unique and enigmatic character. He’s a badass alpha fighter, and loyal to the core. He’s incredibly protective not afraid to stand up for what he wants and for those he cares for most. He logical and methodical, but also has a soft, compassionate and loving side that he only shares with those closest to him.

I love that so many past characters made cameo appearances within this title, in particular it was great to catch up with Meyah, Shake, Kennedy and Repo.

I highly recommend Laken if love a fast paced, and unique take on an MC romance, and highly recommend reading any and or all of Addison Jane’s work, once you start you wont want to stop. I will be eagerly awaiting Addison’s next release.

I'll be honest, I was a bit leery when starting The Club Girl Diaries (read one of those & LOVED!) as in many MC stories, the club girls are full of drama, intrigue, and just general unpleasantness. There are a few out there which club girls are great girls, but they're in the minority. Anyway, that made it exciting to read The Phoenix Club Girl Diaries series because of the originality & addictive nature. I don't want to go into too many details, except Laken is Kennedy's (Kennedy Book 1) bestie, but Kennedy is in Phoenix now, so Laken feels alone, and her demons are flying around her. I won't tell you how she ends up in Phoenix, but she does, and now she believes she can bury them again. Myth is the hero, and he has a past with Laken (though will he remember it?) not to mention demons of his own. And that's all that I'm saying about that. See, there some big twists which are f-bomb dropping worthy, angst for days as this story isn't pretty but it's more realistic in my eyes, and of course some action. I promise everyone that you want to actually hit your one click button to find out how it all pans out! CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE AND HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I struggled with how to rate this book. I fell like most of the book was around a 3, but I love Jane's movie quality, OTT drama-packed endings, so I bumped it to a 4.
I didn't like this one as much as the first because I felt left out. They reveal Laken's story slowly, but when they do, Myth already knows her, so he kind of knows her background. There isn't one master reveal, it's just kind of brushed over in parts. It's hard to explain(clearly I'd be a shit writer), but I just wished there was more of an explanation in the beginning or even seeing how the rest of the MC responded to it. I couldn't get a feel or connection to the characters because of it.
description

That being said, I love the OTT drama that comes with reading an Addison Jane book. There's always drama coming at you from all sides and I love it.
I was so excited to see that Avery's book is next. It's pretty obvious it'll be with Shotgun and with how the book ended, I'll be on edge of my seat waiting for its release!

I hadn't read any of the Club Girl Diaries before Kennedy's and delving into The Phoenix Club Girl Diaries series, but man have they been good so far. I liked Kennedy's story but was definitely wanting to know more about the mysterious Laken's story and it was definitely something, something pretty awesome.

Laken is not who and what she seems, there is so much underneath her layers that you could not even guess it. She is trying to find herself and maybe she has in Phoenix.... and perhaps with Myth....

This was a great MC read that focuses not JUST on the MC but also other aspects of that and I totally dig it. If you like normal MC books then you will still get the gritty, alpha read that you have come to love and expect, but this is something more and I totally dug it. All in all, I am definitely a fan and want to see what happens next to the MC and the Club Girls- 4.5 outta 5 stars from me!

PS: Thank you to Addison Jane and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly!

I Loved this book so much I had a hard time putting it down so I could go to sleep.
I was pulled into it right from the off, staying there until I had finished every single word that was written. I also had my mini movie playing along in my had.
Twists, turns and surprises are all the way through this book. Some of the surprises are large while others are small, some may even hit you in the face. Some you may see coming while others you won't some will pull on your heart strings. But each and every one of them hold equal importance within the story.
Emotions from each and every character can be felt. I cried so if you are anything like me you might need tissues, I actually sobbed at points in this book. I also went through the emotions along with them, I have to admit at times I could of knocked some heads together.
I have to be honest and say Laken is my third favourite book from the whole of the Club Girl Diaries Series, with Harmony first and Chelsea Second.
I high recommend this book and Addison Jane as an author. I don't think you will regret reading her books.

Not a keeper

I was drawn in to this book at the beginning. I had read book 1, Kennedy and Repo's book, loved it, and assumed this second book would be more of the same. The book started well. Myth is a very compelling, sexy, driven alpha, which is similar to Repo in the 1st book of the series. But that's where the similarity ended. What I got was a fever dream crazy action-filled book that was an exhausting, never-ending and increasingly bizarre series of violent encounters with only a drop of romance. I kept reading, thinking there would be more of Myth and Laken as a couple. It never happened. It was like long, drawn out torture, hoping that I would finally come to a page where Myth and Laken would have a happy interlude. But that never happened. The HEA? The couple are both still alive at the end. That's it. I considered not finishing at 50%, but I held on, hoping something would happen in the 2nd half that would justify the time I spent reading the first half. No luck.

The second story in the series and it is filled with action, club stuff, great characters, really evil bad guys, plenty of steam and love. Amazing from start to finish.

The main couple is Myth, retired fighter who still works with kids to help keep them out of trouble. Then comes Laken who stood by another ole lady before she met her man. She has a back story that creates issues and when they are tied with an old enemy of Myth's the whole club gets involved.

I love the club and its family spirit. They are by no means saints but when it comes to their family, there is no holding back. The emotional toll is strong for the characters and readers. I say, just keep reading.

This story and series is one not to miss. While it is a take-off series, I have not read the first series and am enjoying this one completely. I may sometime go back to read the first series for pleasure but not because I have to in order to enjoy this one.

A Rollercoaster Ride!

Just finished this latest installment in Addison Jane’s Club Girls series and I am still on the emotional rollercoaster finale. Once again we are treated to multilayered characters who are far from perfect, whose worlds aren’t perfect, and who find each other in the worst of circumstances. What makes these books fantastic is the down to earth reality of it all. Two people struggling with their own problems find their other half, the part that’s missing, the person that helps them get out of their own troubles and be just that much better for someone else. We get to see real people with problems that someone the reader knows may be going through themselves. I highly recommend you start at the beginning with “Harmony” and work your way through. It’s absolutely worth the ride if you like MC fiction.

I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. Addison Jane’s stories just keep getting better and better. My heart broke for all that Laken has been through and how damaged she became because of those that were supposed to protect her the most. I loved how she kept her sass and was able to fight through. Myth is just sexy as all heck, but also smart and supportive. The fact that he figured out ways to deal with his ADHD is wonderful. I love when authors write characters that have challenges and then they are handled positively. The cliffhanger at the end was shocking! I can’t wait to start Avery’s book. Every single man and Brooklyn in this chapter needs a story. I want more for Crush, Ty, Auron, etc.!

Page turner!

Every page you read makes you hurry to turn to the next one. Ms. Jane has created a family you will definitely want to be part of and never leave. Myth is strong, dedicated and has so much inner strength you want to cheer him on and be around him so you can learn the lessons he has to teach. Laken is broken in so many ways your heart bleeds for her. Their relationship is the thing the rest of us strive to find but only the luckiest ever do.
Can hardly wait to read Avery!
P.S. Ms. Jane, Please stop getting poor Tyler beat up!! Its a wonder he is still alive after the bat in Kennedy's story and now twice in Lakens!!! Have MERCY and give this kid a break! And his patch, he's earned it!!!!!
