We met the oldest McLoughlin brother in the other 2 books and I was looking forward to finding out his story. Patrick’s wife, Maggie walked out on him and his infant daughter Maeve when she was only six months old. She left with no explanation and no contact whatsoever, so Patrick is completely in the dark to what went wrong. Was it something he did or didn’t do?? All he knows is he needs a good nanny and that is proving to be very difficult.

Carsen briefly worked with Lettie (his brother’s fiancé) and now Lettie is referring her to care for Maeve. Carsen has been a nanny in the past and she is a hard worker since she is saving money to put herself through college.

Immediately when Patrick opens the door to Carsen he feels a pull to her. Then her obvious connection with the baby and her bubbly personality with Maeve seals her fate as the new nanny.

I really liked how Carsen was very mature for her age. There may have been some parts of this that I felt were a little hokey but for the most part I liked the book and the story.

Patrick thought he had it all when he fell in love with Maggie in high school, married straight out of college and after trying for so long, eventually became a father to their beautiful baby girl. How could things eventually go so wrong for them all?

Patrick’s wife walked out on him and Maeve when she was six months old. He hasn’t heard from her since and has no idea why she left. If he knew why she left them then he would find it easier to understand but as it stands he really has no idea what happened for her to leave like that.

One thing he really needs right now is a nanny for Maeve. He has had a few trial and errors but things are so busy for him at work that he needs to find someone permanent that is prepared to live in and care for his daughter. Carsen may be that person.

Carsen is saving money for college and is really hoping that this nanny job works out. As soon as she mets Patrick and Maeve she just knows this is the job for her and her instant connection with Maeve cements his decision too. For Patrick it is such a relief to find someone who fits in with them and he can try and get back to a normal life, one without his wife.

Carsen has this calming presence about her, she not only looks after Maeve but she does a few extra things around the house for Patrick to make life easier for him. He has been doing it alone for so long and it is nice to have someone look after him once in a while. There is also this brewing attraction between them that they seem to dance around, not knowing if the feeling is mutual.

Carsen knows that Patrick is still waiting for his wife to walk back through the front door so doing anything about the attraction is probably not a good idea. However, the hormones in their bodies have their own agenda and soon things heat up between them. They soon find themselves wrapped up in a little bubble of happiness and Patrick has never felt what he feels when he is with Carsen. It’s a shame then that someone is about to come along with a large pin…

I haven’t read the previous books and the characters from those are in this story. If you are a stickler to reading things in sequence you might need to know this. I read this as a stand alone. A very easy, light read that can be enjoyed in one sitting.

At first, I was hesitant to read this because of what the blurb said but as the story progresses, Patrick's hard and cold demeanor towards Carsen can be explained as he has suffered a lot, like his wife, Maggie abandoning him and their baby girl, Maeve, so he's warily. He and Maggie were high school sweethearts and he thought they would last forever until one day she disappeared. So it's obvious he doesn't want to be hurt again, especially with his baby girl now with him... meaning there's a slight push and pull from Patrick until he can't stay away anymore from Carsen (neither can she) and start sleeping together, no labels and no attachments. But that doesn't work for long because both of them start developing feelings towards each other.

Carsen is afraid that she's sort of the rebound chick and that Patrick's still waiting for his wife to return to him, so she's scared because she's bonded with Maeve quickly and her feelings for Patrick have turned into love. On the other hand, Patrick, who's a bit older than Carsen, doesn't know how to express how he truly feels until an unexpected and unpleasant surprise shows up... yep, you guessed it, Maggie returns! Luckily, that issue is resolved quickly and these two get their head out of their butts and get their happy ending, together as a family, with adorable little Maeve, who's also bonded quickly to Carsen <3

Now, I thought what Maggie did was inhumane, to leave your baby girl and husband because, by her own words, she was selfish and only wanted Patrick, ugh, I hate women like that! But fortunately, Patrick knows that he would never leave his daughter like Maggie did and realizes the type of woman she truly is. Also, the feelings he has for Carsen stopped him from acepting her back even with the ridiculous things she was spouting on about not wanting to have children... Let me stop on that because I get seriously infuriated with women like Maggie.
Luckily, Maggie loses and Carsen wins :) Luckily, for Carsen, she's has gained a good, protective and possessive man, a great lover, a good father and an adorable baby girl, who she truly feels protective of and who she has bonded with (working as a nanny for Patrick, this is is sort of boss and employee romance that transitions to forever)

Carsen also helped Patrick to bond more with his brothers and I loved that :) With Maggie, Patrick distanced himself from his brothers, his family. With Carsen, he's more involved in his brothers' lives and is friends with their wives. She brought out the positivity vibe into Patrick's life while Maggie only brought isolation.
Carsen also had a caring nature, even as young as she was, and she saw that Patrick needed his family to be there for him and she did everything in her power to reunite them all again <3 :)

I liked the epilogue too because we all get to see all the couples (which are Patrick's brothers) from the previous two books from this series and I especially loved how Maeve calls Carsen "mommy" :)
In the epilogue, some years have passed and Maeve is five and Carsen is like a mother to her in all ways but biological and I loved seeing their bond still going strong <3

What I didn't like much is that it took years for Patrick to propose marriage to Carsen. I get it, he was burned badly by his high school sweetheart turned wife, that slag, but still, Carsen didn't have to pay the sins of another woman but hey, she was understanding. That's why I liked her character the best out of the story :)
Wish, there was more years in the epilogue where we get to see these two get married and have their own babies, that's also including Maeve, as the big sister, protective... Nonetheless, I liked reading this story and liked seeing that the McLoughlin brothers and their women got their happily ever after <3 <3

I love nanny stories and this one is no different.

Patrick thinks he has it all, married to his high school sweetheart, a baby girl, and his business going strong. Then it all comes crashing down when his wife just ups and leaves with no word on why or when she will be coming back. Now Patrick needs help with his daughter. So he hires a nanny.

Carsen needs a job and being a nanny works for her. She wants to go to art school and this seems to be a way to save money to do that. But the chemistry between these two is just steaming. But Carsen doesn't want to be a rebound. So is that what she is? Or will things become real and love blossom?

Another great story by Emma.

Alive Again is an incredibly sweet story filled with heart warming love. A sexy single dad, an adorable little girl, and a sweetheart of a nanny all make for an irresistible read! This book is such a feel good kind of read. Even still packed with emotion the sweetness in Carsen and Patrick’s story stole the show! I found myself constantly swooning while reading.

A man who’s stuck in a state of limbo after his wife leaves without a word, Patrick has fully dedicated himself to only his daughter and his job. After months of no word from the wife who left him he hires a nanny to help with his daughter. He doesn’t expect the immediate attraction to the woman he hires, but the chemistry between these two is off the charts.

Carsen is a total sweetheart. Hardworking and wise beyond her years she adores children and is wonderful with Patrick’s daughter. The tension builds as the sparks fly between Carsen and Patrick and when they finally come together the heat is scorching. I really loved these two together, I just wish we had a bit more of it. The ending was a bit rushed but with a wonderful epilogue that was adorably sweet.

Alive Again is the third book in the series and it is the book that I was excited to read. It is Patrick McLoughlin’s story- he is the eldest brother. His wife disappears without a backwards glance, leaving him and their infant daughter behind. Patrick was devastated and not sure how to move on or what to think after his wife did this to him. He had a baby to care for plus work. Desperate for a nanny to help care for the 6 month old, Carsen is a sweet addition to his household. There is immediate chemistry between them. They start off as boss-employee and then move on to more friends but soon its harder for them to fight the feelings occurring. How long can they both resist temptation? Patrick and Carsen made this story rock. I loved their easy banter, steamy chemistry and the way the story flowed. There were some twists that I didn’t see happening but overall this was a good read. I wished the ending hadn’t been so rushed but overall it was a good read.

Patrick is the McLoughlin brother we have known the longest. His wife took off shortly after their daughter was born, and has been radio silent ever since. With an Infant, Patrick hires a nanny to care for Maeve, Carsen, and sparks fly between them instantly.

Carsen is a wonderful woman who is excellent with Maeve. A bit younger than Patrick, she is a hardworking old soul, the two meshing together for Maeve wonderfully. I loved the way they were with Maeve, and the way they came together. Their fears for the future felt realistic.

This was a fast read, and paced quickly. Alive Again is the standalone third book in the McLoughlin Brothers series and a great way to wrap up the brothers.

Patrick McLoughlin is the eldest brother. When his wife disappears without a backwards glance, leaving him and their infant daughter behind, he’s not sure how to move on.

He is an amazing father to his sweet baby girl, but his life now only consists of work and Maeve. Desperate for a nanny to help care for the 6 month old, Carsen is a refreshing addition to his household.

The sparks are flying and feelings can’t be stopped. Until one day, the wife shows back up. What will happen?

I enjoyed this story line, anytime I can read about a hot single dad I’m happy. LOL This book was my favorite of the series. Patrick was portrayed in the first two books as the serious brother, far too stressed out to enjoy anything or anyone but his baby girl. So, I was expecting him to be a total jerk, but as soon as I started reading this story, I saw that other side him. The doting father. Patrick and Carsen happen so organically, it never seems forced or awkward. Such a natural connection there that fills the void in his family unit seamlessly. <3

This is the third book in the series, and it was the one I was most excited about. Believe me, it did not disappoint. It has all my favorite things taboo such as forbidden romance, older man/younger girl, and a single sexy dad. What’s not to love right?

Patrick’s life fell apart when his wife Maggie up and walked out on him. The worst part she walked out on their sweet little innocent baby girl as well. Now, Patrick is left trying to juggle a job that demands a lot of his time, and take care of his sweet little girl, but Carsen is the saving grace he so desperately needs. She is a perfect fit. She is very mature, she has a very flexible schedule, and she is wonderful with his daughter. After Patrick hires Carsen, both of their feelings start to change, but how long can they both resist temptation?

I adored both Patrick and Carsen. Their attraction and chemistry are off the charts. Of course, there were some twists and curve balls that I didn’t see coming. Literally there were parts that made my heart drop. I wish there would have been a bit more at the end, but overall, I really enjoyed this book. I honestly hope to see a novella with all three brothers because I enjoyed this series very much.

Alive Again is the third book in the McLoughlin Brothers series but it is the first one I have read. I did however read other books by Emma and was excited about this one. I do love a single dad book.

He needs a nanny. She needs a job. What they didn’t expect was each other.

Patrick thought he had it all. Married to his high school sweetheart. A baby that took them years to conceive. A career he is passionate about. They were living a great life until she left without even leaving a note. That was six months ago and still not one phone call from his wife. But, he couldn’t just wallow. He had a 11-month old baby girl who was his world to take care of. The last nanny was cold. When he saw Carsen, he felt her warmth and when she met Maeve, he knew his life was about to change.

Carsen needed this job so she could go to art school. Who she didn’t expect was him. Patrick, a married but single dad who she knew could be trouble. He was attractive but hard to read. This made him a mystery to her. After some time spent together, she got to see other sides of the man. He was sweet, protective, and sometime cold. She didn’t know it at the time but the coldness was to keep her at arm’s length. He wanted her just as much as she wanted him. But, just because it felt right, was it?

Patrick and Carsen’s relationship is complicated and easy all at the same time. Yes, he was still married but his wife was gone without a trace. Patrick and Carsen had a connection. It was evident from the start but what if Maggie comes back? Will her heart be broken?

Overall...I enjoyed this book. It was sweet, fun, and flirty. It does pack a punch for a novella-sized book. The characters are like-able. The family is tight. The banter is fun.

I recieved a complimentary copy of this book through Crazy Cajun Book Addicts.

Alive Again was a very enjoyable, easy read. Emma Tharp has a great writing style and easily pulls you into the stories she writes.

Patrick is now a single father after his wife walked out on him and there baby daughter months ago without looking back. He needs to start and get on with his life which includes hiring a nanny to take care of his daughter.
Carson is in need of a job to pay her way through school so when the opportunity to become a live in nanny lands in her lap she jumps at the chance. Patrick and Carson get on immediately they have a great chemistry but will they both act on their feelings or is their just to many obsticals in the way.

This is book 3 in the Mcloughlin Brothers series but each book can be read as a standalone.

Patrick is a sexy alpha and caring father going through a loss of a disappearing wife who falls for his much younger nanny. Maggie maybe be young but is responsible and mature, working on achieving her goals. She is key in bringing happiness to Patrick's life, its a game for awhile of the between them. Once Maggie's ex makes a surprise appearance the emotions cannot be denied that Patrick wants to be own Maggie and she in turn wants to be consumed in his presence. Patrick's family is supportive of the relationship, but Patrick is not the best at handling emotions as makes a mistake when his "wife" makes an appearance. Maggie is strong and in love with Patrick but she puts in boundaries, that Patrick has to overcome to gain trust. I love the ending of Patrick learning to get a HEA with Maggie.

This is book three in the McLoughlin Brothers. A drama filled romance with lots of twists. Patrick McLoughlin was on top of the world with a successful empire, a precious baby and marriage to his childhood sweetheart. Amazing how your life can change on a dime and that is what happened to him with his wife, Maggie just walked out one day. She left him and the baby without a word. His nanny Carsen makes him feel alive again and what happens when his wife returns. Lots of unknowns and plenty of drama. No spoiler as to how this ends, but it's a great read that will keep you entertained. Well written with good characters. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

It is incredibly easy to fall in love with Carsen Sanders. She is the total package and determined to make something of herself. Patrick McLoughlin is a single dad to a newborn, has an estranged wife and is barely getting by. The chemistry Emma Tharp creates between these two characters instantly is great, the most subtle version of "insta-love" at it's finest. Tharp delivers a delightful story, a complex plot and puts you directly into her character's lives. If you are looking for a sweet read with the perfect amount of hot on the side to make you believe in second changes, Alive Again is definitely worth checking out.

Patrick is a mess at the beginning of this third novel about the McLoughlin brothers. He is a single father whose wife just walked out on him and their baby. He must find a nanny, but with his hours and mood they are hard to keep around. In walks Carsen. She needs a job and loves kids. From the first day they hit it off, but could he take the next step? Both have feelings they are afraid to show. This was a great read. Another great book by Emma Tharp. If you want to read a heartwarning book this one is for you! You will love it as I did!

Alive Again 💚 @emmatharpauthor
3rd book of the series but can be read as a standalone.
A single dad~Nanny romance in dual POV.
Really enjoyed this read which was my first of Emma’s and I will be going back to the first two books!
Loved these two characters - Carsen & Patrick!
With these two it was instant chemistry between them and Patrick who’s sworn off women after his wife left him with no explanation - he cannot get Carsen off of his mind! she’s having him feelings things he didn’t even feel with his wife!
The heat between these two is gets intense and I couldn’t wait for them to give in ! And then there’s a bomb that made me hold my breath!
I do feel ending was a little rushed but still
A sweet fun, feel good read!

I like this nanny story because it has an emotional side and a well described reality. Well written story line and plot. Likeable characters that are well described and they develop nicely. The story has a nice pace and flows well of the pages.
I like it is written in dual POV which gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters.
A single dad that struggles because his wife upt and left him and their daughter. He seeks a nanny to help them throught their day. But emotions comes between them.
Recommendable and sweet story that is captivating and enjoyable.

I enjoyed all the books but must admit this was the brother I was most looking forward to reading, Iloved their story thought it was very sweet but unfortunately after all the books being so great the ending just felt rushed and unfinished, what would be perfect would be a follow up on all 3 couples, lovely series though.

I liked Carsen but Patrick has a lot of issues. Even though this is an older-man-younger-woman romance, and that she's the nanny of his daughter, she was very mature for her age and they complemented each other well.

The chemistry was obvious from the start. There was mutual physical attraction that developed into something more but because life gets in the way, they had to work things out. Contains an HEA.

Cute read

Patrick’s world came to a screeching halt the day his wife walked out. No reason or explanation, just a vacancy.
Carson’s starting her life. She’s working to pay her way through school . Taking a nanny position for sweet Maeve was the best choice she ever made.
Now they have to decide what to do with the new feelings that surprised them.

The author wrote a book which is heartbreaking yet uplifting. Having been burned by his wife who left him and their daughter, his behavior is understandable, yet I still found it unacceptable. To treat someone else so poorly because of a previous relationship is deplorable. I wish he would have seen what a gem he had in his nanny long before he did.
