Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa is a stand alone “frenemies” romance. I used the word frenemies because it’s what the author used to describe the relationship between these two. They had that white hot attraction that they couldn’t ignore but neither was in a good place to deal with emotionally. Neither of them quite knew what to do with it but they both knew one thing they did together very well.

540 × 540

If you are a fan of Claudia’s, then perhaps you’ve been introduced to these characters in previous books. Hannah Hades Bell is twenty nine years old and is the daughter of a famous rock star. Hannah herself was also in a famous band for a time. But now she’s living in San Francisco teaching and writing for a magazine she co-owns. Hannah has pain in her past that she has long buried. Pain that keeps her from trusting. Hannah is best friends with June Spearman who lives next door to her. Through June she met June’s brother, Alex.

Alex Spearman is a previous Olympic gold medalist, thrill seeker and athlete. But a terrible accident changed everything. Now Alex makes his living designing snow boards and surf boards. His business is very successful but he is still dealing with the changes life dealt him, including having the woman he thought he loved leaving him soon after the accident.

The minute Alex and Hannah met, the outcome was inevitable. They couldn’t ignore the chemistry between them. They would argue, sleep together, and walk away only to rinse and repeat. But somehow, they always ended up coming back together. None of their personal details were ever shared, it was kept impersonal. Hannah knew it was toxic and it needed to end. During the weekend of her friend June’s wedding, though, she saw a different side of Alex. A side that she could fall for. But she knows that it’s just a fantasy. When they go back to their real lives, everything will go back to the way it was. Only it didn’t. The past comes back to haunt Hannah and causes her to finally face up to everything she has buried over the years and finally put the pieces back together. The question is, who will she be after that? And what sort of part will Alex play in her life then?

woman writing in a journal

This really was such a beautiful story of self discovery, for both Hannah and Alex. The connection was always there for them, but they just couldn’t see it until they were both ready. As the title says, Alex really was almost perfect. To me he may have been completely perfect! I loved him. I actually felt so bad for him. His own sister and also Hannah, even the rest of his family, had such little faith in him. He let them think what they wanted to think, none of it being true. I wanted them to see the man I saw, so full of love.

Claudia Burgoa

Even though this is a stand alone, Claudia’s dedicated readers already knew the Spearman family and even Hannah’s family. I have to admit that at times I was a little lost since I didn’t know any of the characters. So I tried to just concentrate on Hannah and Alex. Of one thing I was sure, though, and that was my love for Alex. I loved the ending, it was adorable. This was such a sweet story that I enjoyed so much. These two will live on in my heart for a long time.

Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa was a beautifully poignant and inspiring story of love and life. Yes it is a frenemies to lovers romance. Yes it is a romantic comedy sometimes. But above all Alex and Hannah's moving journey gifted me some of the most intense, life changing and surreal experiences in a romance book. I am leaving this story with important lessons for my heart and food for my soul.

Hannah and Alex are both unique characters. I love everything Claudia Burgoa writes but this story went to a bit different direction. I won't say this one is actually dark or very angsty. But she did dig deep into the dark crevices of the characters and came up with some shredding-my-heart, breaking-my-soul and owning-me-straight kind of feelings. Hannah is incredible. Her whole life is a map of tragedies, neglect, being used, getting shattered and losing herself moments. But she is still the most Com passionate and loving and adorable person ever. Same goes with Alex Spearman. Once a world famous professional snowboarder, his life was turned upside down by an accident. Instead of his previous cheerful and satisfied self, he is now a sarcastic, closed off and commitmentphobe. And craving and longing after his sister's best friend is not healthy for him. So begins the heartbreaking and almost perfect love story of two perfectly flawed souls.

This is the epitome of slow burn romance. Because this story was not only about romance between two persons. It was also about them finding balance, redemption, acceptance and self actualization. They have to go through their own journey before they find their way back to each other. So they spend a lot of time physically apart but connected in heart. That was absolutely special about this story. They will sometimes tear each other apart because they cannot face the truth about their feelings. And sometimes their love will give you the most heartaching, swoonworthy and unforgettable feelings. It's not all hearts and flowers. But it's all forever and beyond. My heart was so full of sweet, steamy and powerful emotions while Alex pursued Hannah with everything and when Hannah finally gave themselves a real chance.

Almost Perfect by Claudia Burgoa was a brilliantly written love story with beautifully layered characters and honestly riveting emotions. I am mesmerized by her writing!

More than a story of frenemies is one of best friend sister to lovers, kind of slow burn. Alex is for Hannah like that piece of chocolate cake (it may be the flavor you like most), a sweet temptation that you can't resist when you're around. Hannah is Juni's best friend, Alex's sister and manager. The relationship between them is a come and go. It seems that both wants different things. However all they are looking for is their happily ever after. And on the way to that search they realized that although they are almost perfect, they are perfect together. This is a sweet and adorable story, somehow inspiring.

I have fallen in love with the way Claudia gives a special touch to her writing style. It is as if he captured his life experiences and his wisdom in every story she writes. AND i LOVe IT!!

So here's the thing, this doesn't really fall under the trope of enemies to lovers or friends to lovers because Alex and Hannah are a bit of both so it's a Frenemies to Lovers Romance which is an interesting concept because there isn't exactly hate or fondness at the start of the relationship but a combination of both. There was a genuine likeness and irritation towards one another and it was fun to see which side of the coin would win at any given moment.

If you have read some of Claudia's books you may have met Alex and Hannah before. Alex is a Spearman, and the youngest brother to Jackson (Maybe Later), Jason (Then He Happened), and June (Once Upon A Holiday). Hannah has also had some appearances in family members books, her dad Kaden Hades (My One Regret) and her sister Tess' story (My One Desire), I have read all of them and enjoy each of them so I was always on the lookout for their book and color me surprised when the two of them got together.

I’m overwhelmed with so many wonderful feelings after reading Almost Perfect. This book is not only absolute perfection but a beautiful, heartwarming and touching frenemies to lovers story. I’ve never been more in love with a couple like Alex and Hannah. Almost Perfect’s storyline is irresistible, entertaining and what I loved the most is that it wasn’t your typical frenemies to lovers story as it had unique layers which Ms. Burgoa weaved together to create an unforgettable romance.

Initially Alex and Hannah couldn’t stand each other yet their connection and chemistry was palpable. It was just a matter of time before these two hit the sheets so to speak. Alex was an all around good guy with a funny, charming and utterly swoon worthy personality that made me instantly fall in love with him. I loved Hannah from My One Regret and I couldn’t wait to read about her as an adult. She was such a beautiful, caring and nurturing woman who flourished in this book. They certainly had their ups and downs as it took time and growth on both their parts to finally realize what they meant to each other and to see what their relationship truly was.

Almost Perfect can definitely be read as a stand-alone, there are characters from Ms. Burgoa’s previous books that intertwined with this story and it was nice to revisit the Spearman, Hades-Bell and Decker families. The new secondary characters intrigued me and I’m excited to see what’s on the horizon for the Sinners of Seattle crew. Almost Perfect is a PERFECT five star book and if you are looking for a low angst and delightful romance, then this is definitely the book for you.

Yes, I’ve raved about a lot of books lately, but this book, y'all! It's everything I want in an epic romance when I didn’t even realize I was looking. Charming, witty, engaging, authentic, vulnerable, endearing, and oh-so-heartfelt, I’m still all swoony over Alex and Hannah! With bits of rock star, billionaire, sports and best friend's brother, it obliterates most other books in these tropes.

The tension and push and pull is strong between these two, but it’s not long into the book before we see behind the masks and deep down to the unguarded, tender hearts of both Alex and Hannah. Told partially through handwritten letters and Hannah's magazine articles, their individual journeys of self-discovery and growth are poignant, raw, profound and magical. With concepts of building anew from the rubble, the purpose of painful experiences, and learning that patience is an integral component of love, this book is one glorious hit to the heart after another, finally culminating in an inspiring, hopeful, magnificent, forever love.

The other ideal I love in this book is the concept of family, and family is whatever an individual makes it. From a big, loud, interfering, loyal birth family, to family borne of shared challenges and hardship that knit hearts together over time, having those people in your life that support you unconditionally and pick you up when you fall makes all the difference. And learning to trust a new person and let them into your family and your heart can change your life in ways you never dreamed.

If you haven’t read Burgoa's work yet, this is the perfect place to start because, in my opinion, this is her best work to date. Alex and Hannah are the kind of complex, true-to-life, winning characters that will insist on owning your heart. You’ll be helpless to do anything but fall in love with them, and they'll live in your heart long after the last page. Don’t miss their sweet, steamy, captivating, amazing, unforgettable story!

Claudia Burgoa is my Go-To Author so when she releases a book, it's a definite one click for me! Almost Perfect is her latest release and it has a mix of some old friends from her other books but is a perfect standalone if you haven't read any or all of them.

Alexander Spearman and Hannah Hades-Bell have a complicated past. Hannah is a rock musician/writer/magazine mogul from a famous musical family and best friends with Alex's younger sister. Alex was a World Class athlete who suffered a devastating accident and now runs a company that creates snowboards, surfboards, snow equipment and endorsements. He and Hannah have had a friends with benefits (and hate) relationship that both are too confused to label. We are given glimpses of the past in duel POV chapters that fill us in as we decipher these two complicated and damaged individuals. Both have been hurt and are vulnerable and terrified of being hurt again.

It takes a drastic measure by Hannah for Alex to realize what he wants and to realize he needs to make some changes. Throw in a puppy named Bruno with Draco the cat to establish "The kids" and things get pretty interesting. Alex goes all out and he is more than Almost Perfect in my eyes!

I loved this book! I really connected with both Alex and Hannah, even though I felt frustrated, mostly with Hannah. As the book progressed, I did understand where she was coming from most of the time. I just felt she was sometimes too hard on Alex. But all was clarified by the end and there was a great epilogue! Win! Win!

Almost Perfect is pure perfection and continues to show Claudia Burgoa’s ability to not only create two characters but to bare their souls in a way that they feel real! Even after the last word is read these characters and their journeys stay with you imprinted on your soul for years to come!

This is a stand alone novel much like most of Burgoa’s work but it is also connected to previous books and that’s what I love about her novels! They aren’t just characters they are family!

Hannah and Alex seem like two people who can’t stand one another! Their light banter and quick whips leave you full of angst but they won’t budge they hate each other and that’s that; or is it?

I have loved Hannah from the start! Might seem weird to some but not so much to others (read My One Regret also by Burgoa, seriously do it) she’s always been the light to everyone’s dark! She was the positive in all aspects of life but what we didn’t see was the deep hurt that she carried! Alex in some ways healed that hurt but also opened the would each time he left! Before he could be everything she needed she had to find peace within herself!

Alex was your typical playboy jaded by the world and making a name for himself in some aspects it was positive but in others a huge negative! He’s the brother the family worried about but when he sets his sights on Hannah everything becomes a game changer he just needs to decide if it’s a game he is playing to win or one he will fold to!

If you haven’t met the Hades or the Spearman’s take a chance on this book because it’s everything that I know I love in a book; laughter, insults that will have you yelling “oooh burn”, great friends, nosey family and above all that LOVE!

I was eager to read Almost Perfect. The cocky professional sports guy and a strong leading lady that have a past and shared friendships. This book had the potential to be more than a cliche` romance novel.

I enjoy when well written stories reveal information as they go; characters and plot lines develop and intensify. I really liked this aspect of Almost Perfect. However, I felt a bit lost and confused early on in the book, wanting something to bring the scattered elements into more focus. As the story progressed, the plot came together with more cohesion, but the pace was too slow for me.
I loved Alex and his ability to stick with Hannah throughout the book. He is strong, patient and pretty dam sexy! To be honest, I found it hard to relate to Hannah. I felt for her and her struggles from the past, but her actions frustrated me a lot of the time.

There are many references, interactions and larger side stories with secondary characters in Almost Perfect. This leads me to think that this was a book within a larger series, even though it is toted as a standalone. I felt like not reading previous books had me at a disadvantage, missing a bunch of background information that may have helped me connect further with this story.

I would encourage readers to check out previous books by this author and read Almost Perfect with knowledge of Hannah, Alex and their plethora of family and friends.

Alex & Hannah are perfectly imperfect.

Alex is everything I wanted him to be!! I think he totally dethroned Jason. Those Spearman brothers are so achingly delicious!

Alex has been put in his sister's best friend's path (by June herself). Hannah has a complicated past that has scarred her belief in love and relationships. She and Alex are combustible together. They have a secret fling (that no one actually knows about). Their story has a second chance, frenemies vibe.

Alex has been the playboy superstar athlete. That's what everyone thinks he is. Mind you he has had to change his future because of the accident that ended his athletic career. He was dumped by his then girlfriend. The woman he'd planned to propose to the night of the accident. But she was a spotlight seeking, gold digger.

He is surprisingly not bitter. He has a successful business. He's raking in the dough. And he has realized he wants Hannah. Who keeps pushing him away.

Hannah, unfortunately, misinterpreted Alex's reaction to their first encounter and so keeps him at a distance. She has been keeping everyone at a certain distance. She decides to go on an 'eat, love, pray' type journey.

While she is away, she and Alex communicate exclusively by snail mail letters. Letters he has to send to her business partner, Ethan, because she has refused to give Alex her phone number or email.

Through those letters, she learns more, but she isn't completely willing to see the truth in Alex's words. Alex supports her in her journey. He waits for her. Alex loves her.

On her return, things have changed. Not just her. Her guys (the Sinners of Saint) who she was in a band with. Alex supports her in trying to help them. Things with June. She also has lots of secrets. Secrets she slowly starts to reveal.

Alex has changed. He is trying to make those around him realize he isn't who they think. Yes, he is flippant sometimes but that doesn't make him any less than he is.

Full of feels, heat, angst, wit, and a beautiful love story. I love Claudia's slow burn romance.

I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

4 Star Review of Almost Perfect by Claudia Y Burgoa

Alex Spearman is your typical hot, sexy, playboy, used to getting what and who he wants. When he sets his sites on Hannah Hades-Bell, the only question is whether it’s for a one night stand or something more?

Almost Perfect is a frenemies to lovers story. I enjoy Ms. Burgoa’s style of writing and have read a few books by her. I have to say I struggled a bit with this one. I felt a bit lost at times and felt that I was missing a chunk of back story that might have made it more enjoyable to read. Although having said that, it was well written.

There were times I was frustrated with both Alex and Hannah. I really liked Alex but had a harder time connecting with Hannah, not sure why to be honest, but there it is.

Initially they don’t really like each other but as the chemistry between Alex and Hannah increases, the tension escalates until neither can resist. The secondary characters were entertaining and I loved the sense of family throughout this book.

Alex is definitely swoon worthy, funny and easy to like whilst Hannah grew on me as the story progressed.

A story that was an emotional roller coaster to read at times but for Alex and Hannah they finally got their happily ever after.

4.5 Stars!

What a beautiful love story! Alex and Hannah are two broken people. Alex is an former olympian athlete but an accident turns his life upside down. Hannah is a former musician who left her former life for a reprieve. Initially when Alex and Hannah meet they cannot stand each other but their paths continue to cross. They have an undeniable chemistry and pull to each other that is hard for either to ignore. I loved how Alex was this stand up good guy. There were so many swoon worthy moments in this book! Hannah was a tough nut to crack, she was caring and nurturing but she was not willingly letting anyone in. Alex and Hannah had many ups in downs along the way. They built a beautiful friendship that was front in center in this book and I loved that. I loved how the relationship grew over time. Both Alex and Hannah grew as people in order to make their relationship work. Well done Claudia on such a great book! If you are looking for a beautifully written enemies to lovers love story, this is your book!

So, let me first say, this book is all kinds of interconnected with the Claudia Burgoa world. Alex Spearman is part of the brothers with the series that includes Maybe Later, and Hannah Bell is in the world that includes, My One Regret. You don't have to read those, but they do help to know these characters better in my opinion.

Alex and Hannah have this connection, the chemistry, the hate, the love. I wouldn't really call them enemies, but they just have to grow up a bit to know how much they really mean to each other and need each other. Alex is going through some personal issues with his career and personal life. These two needed to grow a little to get where they needed to be together. I giggled a few times, and enjoyed their arguments. At first, I was confused on how it started but finally got the hang of it. Overall it was a good read, I do think that it does help if you've read the other books though.

This one is such a conundrum for me. There was so many parts of this story that I loved! That being said it was a little hard to follow. I had to go back and re read things to make sure that I understood it correctly. I guess the best thing that I can offer is that it was absolutely worth it: there was just too much that I loved. It was a slow burn that spanned several years, but because of the following I decided it was ok. There was tremendous character development meant. There was 0 other man/other woman drama. From the day they meet neither so much as kisses/ or even looks at anyone else (although it takes a little while to realize this is the case). There was a really satisfying ending. It was a true love story.

Loved, loved, loved this story!! It has all the feels you could ever want!! The story of Alex and Hannah is not for the faint of heart. It is a roller coaster ride of emotions. The ups and downs of life and love are woven through this beautifully written book. Alex and Hannah have to choose to live despite past failures and hurts. Theirs is a story of learning to live and love, not only themselves but others. Amazing book!!

So, I was really excited when I saw the sign up for this book. Friends were talking about this author, how much they love her writing. So I thought, let’s do this. New series, complete stand alone, this is your chance to read this new to me author .

I got the arc, but already at 15/20% in, I was simply lost. It feels like these characters were part of books released before? Even further in the book, I simply didn’t get it. I’m sorry.

The writing style is good. Funny, interesting, sexy. Alex is a Saint in my eyes. Hannah was a bit too much for me.

All in all I pushed through the book. It was ok. It would probably have been better, if I had read books by this author before.

I kindly received an arc and voluntarily left a review

The Spearman family is literally one of my absolute favorite book families of all time. I love them BIG y’all!! I can’t possibly get enough of their journeys to falling in love. I wanna be a Spearman. LOL

I can assure you going into this book that it will take your feelings on a tilt-a-whirl type ride. It will also have you fanning yourself something fierce because Alex and Hannah are hella hot! 🔥 This book is classified as a frienemies-to-lovers story, but it’s so much more. You could call it a brothers best friend, it’s also about a former rock star with a troubled past, and a sports romance. In some ways it's a slow burn too, but also a one-night stand to romance. Really this is a one stop shop for romance fans. It has the best banter for days, super sexy scenes(like really freakin hot 🥵 ) and it’s raw and realistic and believable in the ways in which they respond to all the messes life throws at them. Things that you couldn’t have predicted. This storyline will make you laugh out loud and then cry for these characters you’ve fallen so hard for.

Trust me you will find yourself captivated by Alex Spearman and his attractively alpha tendencies and simultaneous sweetness. His love for his family and “the children.” GAH!! The way this man is with his nieces and nephews, that is the stuff fairytale dreams are built on. His ability to put his playboy ways behind him for Hannah when she’s skittish and needs a gentler touch is heartwarming and precious. Or even letting those he loves think the worst of him, just to protect her. It left me feeling as warm and gooey as a snickerdoodle cookie! 🍪

Hannah Hades-Bell is an amazing character. She had been through so much. She’s had some really traumatic things happen to her in the past and she hasn’t always handled it in the best ways. From the first moment she met Alex their chemistry was off the charts. However after the first hookup they rubbed each other the wrong way with unfortunate words. If they weren’t actively rubbing each other the right way, they were fighting. Over the course of a couple of years they had this hate you but I can’t keep my hands off you thing going on.

When yet another devastating blow hits Hannah and she goes on a journey of self healing and self discovery around the world, Alex steps in back at home to help with a couple of things and they use some “ old fashioned” and “ hidden text within” means of communication to keep in touch during this time. It brings an in-depth and totally refreshing new way of them getting to know each other in new ways. It was so beautiful and intimate and just touching. I loved this so much!

Hannah has so many cool things going for her, but she was being dragged down by her past. I wished for so much of the book she could see herself as Alex saw her. But then again that’s what made her story so great. We get to read her journey about her growth and discovering what she had in front of her all along.

I love all these characters. Some we had seen before and some new ones. We learned so many new things about Hannah and Alex. Even though we had seen parts of them in previous books, I fell so much more in love with them than I could have ever imagined I would have. Hannah’s boys...I really love that we will obviously been seeing more of the Sinners of Seattle now! I can hardly wait to get those guys stories. Hopefully we will see plenty more of Alex and Hannah in their books as well.

I’m obsessed with Claudia Burgoa’s books. She has this ability to grab you on page one and never let you go until the last word. This book was no different. I.Hung.On.Every.Word!! The level of transformation in these characters was astronomical here. The people they were the day they met and the people they were on the last page of the book were so different. But their journey was phenomenal and I definitely recommend reading this fantastic story!

My cr8zysockbookblock blog wrap up for this book!
⭐️⭐⭐⭐⭐️-This book is full of anything and everything you could possibly want and more. I love these characters so much. I love my Sassy Hannah and I’ve been a fan of the entire Spearman klan for a while.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥-OMG! HOLY HOT BEANS AND FRANKS!! Alex and Hannah were explosive whenever they were near each other. Even when they were “avoiding” contact they were just hot. They had chemistry for days!!
🌪Cliffhanger Warning-No cliffhanger! It wasn’t without hard work and ups and downs to get it. But… #PerfectHappyEnding

Ya ampun gw suka banget, untungnya gw baca bukan pas lagi baper, kl lagi baper pasti gw mewek2 dah ahahaha... broken soul gitu b2, tp dikemas dalam romcom, jadi kocak nya dapet, nyelangsanya dapet dan "awwww mau mas Alexander dong" gw dapet buahahahahaha

Setelah gw urut2 tu mustinya gw baca dari Bapaknya Hannah trs sodara2nya Alex jg, ini bisa dibilang buku ke 6 malah... tp standalone jd enak aja si ^^

Urutan nya tu :
1. My One Regret (Kaden Hades <- bapaknya Hannah Hades)
2. My One Desire (Tess Hades <-- kakaknya Hannah)
3. Maybe Later (Jackson Spearman)
4. Then He Happened (Jason Spearman)
5. Once Upon A Holiday (June Spearman <-- temen baiknya Hannah Hades)
6. Almost Perfect (Alexander Spearman & Hannah Hades)

Ceritanya disini tu

Gw sempet sebel sama June di buku ini, demanding gitu kan.. type A yg maunya ngatur dan kebetulan PR + adeknya Alex jg, tp pas gw baca bukunya June gw tau alasannya.. jd pas bikin review ini gw gak mau hina dina June kwkwkwkwkw

Hannah has a past that she would like to forget but the after-effects still touch her life and her relationships as she trusts very few people and allows even fewer close enough to breach the walls she has built around her heart. Her best friend June is part of her inner circle and from her she meets her brother Alex who incites feelings from elation to despair and everything in between.

Alex is a former athlete who saw his promising career come to a premature end and he soon realized which people were in his life for who he is, and which people truly cared about him. He still struggles with the perception that those around him have of him and yearns to be seen for the man he truly is.

Hannah and Alex share a casual physical relationship, but misunderstandings cause a wedge that neither seems able to bridge. When Hannah decides to take a respite from her life and determine what and who she needs to be happy Alex acknowledges what she means to him. He is determined to convince her that she is perfect just the way she is and that if she trusts him with her heart, he will protect it with his life. I enjoyed the performance of the narrators as they brought out all the emotion that both characters were feeling.

This is a quirky frenemies to lovers romance with some witty banter, it’s about a couple embarking on a journey with some life changing moments, it’s about second chances and most importantly it’s about friendships.
Alex Spearman is a Playboy who athlete career ended way to soon, he is a man who knows what he wants and he is also used to getting what he wants but will Hannah Hades-Bell be the pushover he is used to.....
Hannah Hades-Bell a former rockstar looking to live her life out of the spotlight running from her past ends up back with her best friend June who happens to be Alex’s older sister.
An night of passion a while ago may have ended badly for Alex and Hannah but that doesn’t mean they aren’t still attracted each other it just means they need to get past the past for another chance at love ......
This is classed as a stand-alone but I think you would get so much more out of it if you have read the previous books because there are characters that play a big part in this story from previous books. I loved Alex and I grew to love Hannah as the story developed, a well written romance from this very talented author.

If you've been keeping up with Claudia's latest releases, she has done what I was really, really hoping for and combined this newer series featuring the fun Spearman family with some favorite characters from previous books of hers, some were a big, happy surprise! These older books are what drew me to her writing in the first place and I'm thrilled she has decided to cross over and go back for more within this 'world while adding new characters . Very exciting.

Almost Perfect is a little bit 'sisters best friend- forbidden romance' with healthy dose of 'lovers to frenemies' that live next door to each other now...awkward!!! Since he was first mentioned, Alex Spearman, extreme sports celebrity, has had my attention and now he's finally here, in all his glory with his own story to tell...how about that gorgeous, sexy cover??? Alex may have been known for his athletic skills but things have changed and my heart kind of broke for him in more ways than one. He has taken the lead as my favorite Spearman with his undeniable inner strength, mischievous ways and secret swooniness! His family thinks he's the biggest playboy, he might have been at one point, but they don't know the real Alex anymore. It seems like no one does...

I 'met' Hannah Bell-Hades long ago, in one of my favorite Claudia Burgoa books- My One Regret...who could forget her hot rocker dad, Kaden?? Not me, that's for sure. She was a sweet young girl then with a tragic story of her own to overcome. Has she healed those scars all these years later?

Of course, Hannah and Alex's sister and manager June are the best of friends but Ms. Spearman can't seem to keep her nose out of either Alex or Hannah's business. I wanted to zip her lips shut more than a few times! Oh Juniper, back off girl, some things can manage themselves!

Some really sweet, funny moments (those letters...hmmm) had me sighing and a few tears were shed on this angsty road to happiness that made me wonder...will it happen for these two or will one of them just blow it (looking at you???...aaa, not telling)!!!

A nail biter and a great story, loved the ending. I'm so excited to see where all of this goes in the future as the Sinners of Seattle hopefully get their own stories, cos crazy rockstars are always welcome in my book world! MAYBE Claudia will give us more glimpses into the lives of those special characters again! One can only hope!

An early copy of this new book was provided to me in exchange for my unbiased review.

This is the First time that I am reading and reviewing Claudia Burgoa and I loved her book. This is genuinely an honour that I am reviewing this author's book. Hopefully, I can review many more books of hers.

The story is of Hannah and Alex who are frenemies with benefits who were not only on each other throats but they also had great chemistry But this is not how their individual story started. Hannah was a famous band member, who later on was teaching as a professor of the college. She has suffered a lot in the previous years from her Mother to her cheater boyfriend. Everything for her was very difficult.

Alex has also suffered a lot. He was a great skateboard racer who was already at the peak but then destiny happened, a major car accident and well, everything changes. Though he never needed sympathy and pity. He again restarted his story and stand on his own feet all over again.

Though they always fight when they talk still there was sizzling chemistry between them and they always end up doing that which they shouldn't. But enough is enough Hannah has decided she will not do this anymore and first she has to find herself, heal herself from all the past incidences then only she'll be able to move forward. She takes some steps for herself. She has decided to move away from everybody so that she can love herself all over again and Alex not only supported her but show her the right path and helped her.

I genuinely loved this book. This book tells us all about self-love and self-care. I loved Alex, the support he showed to Hannah was..just AMAZING! Quite motivating story.

I loved the plot and the storyline. The characters were amazing too. I really loved the character of Alex's sister as well as Hannah's best friend. (same person). The author did a great work by keeping light in between the chapters by a touch of sense of humour. Last but not least--

Keep yourself above everything.

If you Love self-motivating plus Romantic story do check out this one.

I was so excited to find out more about both Alex and Hannah who I first met in other books! Alexander Spearman is a famous athlete who's career ended way to soon, and Hannah Hades-Bell is rockstar royalty looking for a life out of the spotlight. Hannah is best friends with Alex's sister, June. The sparks between Alex and Hannah explode right from the start and they have a clandestine night of unbelievable passion. When it ends badly, it leaves them both confused and heartbroken. They can't fight their attraction whenever they meet, but neither is capable of taking it past the physical. Hannah is blindsided one last time by her manipulative mother. She realizes her life is out of control, feeling more darkness than light. She decides to go on a journey to find herself and become the person she can be happy and proud of. Alexander is constantly fighting the image his family, Hannah, and the world sees in him. He loves building things, wants what's best for his employees, and Hannah to be his forever person. He has a plan and now just needs Hannah to believe in him. I loved and totally swooned over Alex so much! He was so patient, kind and loving. I felt so bad for him when his family couldn't see his growth and maturity. Hannah frustrated me at times when she ignored all the love and support offered from her family and band-mates for so long. But like Alex, she grew, changed, and matured. I loved the letters Alex and Hannah exchanged, helping them to see each other for who they truly were and not the facade believed by others. It was fun to catch up with their family members who I fell for in other books! This witty, touching, and steamy, frenemies to Lovers romance is a great start to Burgoas new Sinners Of Seattle series. I am so intrigued by this introduction to Tucker and the rest of the band. They are all close, loyal, fun, alluring, and a bit broken in their own way. I can't wait to read more about the rest of the Sinners Of Seattle!

This is the story of Alexander Spearman and Hannah Hades-Bell (how awesome is her last name?). He is a jock and she is a former rock star, current college professor and journalist. He is her best friend’s older brother. She is running from a past and stuck in a rut of unhealthy coping mechanisms. Their chemistry is off the charts but their combined fear of intimacy makes the timing rotten and turns them into frenemies.

What I loved- I loved Alex Spearman. His determination to overcome his past trauma was inspiring. His awful pick-up lines had me laughing out loud and loving him hard. His patience with his family and Hannah were saintly. His emotional vulnerability left me clutching at pearls I don’t even own. I also loved the use of handwritten, postal service delivered letters and print media (magazine articles) to tell much of the story.

What I liked – I liked that I could relate to Hannah to a certain degree. I understood her pain, even if I didn’t understand her coping mechanisms at all. She intrigued me. Her reactions baffled me, leaving me feeling very Scooby-Doo-ish. I wanted to know how and why. I wanted to unmask her experiences and motivations to understand her better because there were times that I disliked her a little. She was a mystery I needed to solve. I couldn’t put the book down until I understood her better, which I knew wouldn’t happen until closer to the end…because authors are evil like that!

Almost Perfect lived up to its title. It is a beautiful story that tugged at my heart, gave me some naughty tingles, and had me wishing I liked wine and could get a cat.

For those familiar with Claudia’s Unexpected Series (still my favorite), the Decker name does make an appearance or two and glimpses of a grown up Decker grandchild provide hope that fans will eventually see more of that family in the not too distant future.

4* Golden Boy Stars

Alex and Hannah’s story was a rollercoaster of up’s and down’s, lovers one minute and then enemies the next.

Hannah, despite being 29 years old, is still struggling to come to terms with the cards that life has dealt her. She is flawed emotionally and has not fully dealt with the rejection of her biological mother. Because of this she puts everyone at arm’s length and her actions are quite selfish, despite the love and support of her friends and famous musical family. In parts of the story I disliked her because of this. On the other hand, gorgeous Alex Spearman was everything a woman could ask for. After a terrible accident left Olympic Medallist Snowboarder Alex unable to compete, he was determined to become someone better and not the playboy he was renowned for. When Alex crosses paths with Hannah again he is determined to explore the feelings he has with her after their first encounter ended in disaster. His patience with Hannah was saintly.

It was great to catch up with the rest of the family and especially gentle loving Sadie who will always have a special place in my heart.

This was an enjoyable low angst swoony romance. You are also always guaranteed a gorgeous cover from Claudia.

Many thanks to Claudia for my copy to read and review. All thoughts are my own.
