Eight seconds to glory. One second to lose it all.
Bowen Barclay lived to ride bulls - until his single-minded focus cost his wife her life. Four years on, raising his son alone is the only thing he’s getting right. His rodeo career is going down in flames and instead of dating, he’s playing his kid’s video games.
Paisley Ackerly loves to sing. Loudly and offkey, but in the privacy of her rundown home, it’s only her children she’s torturing. Until her ten-year-old leaves his gaming console on, with a handsome cowboy still on the webcam, listening to every word.
Being accused of internet creepery isn’t the best way to meet a woman, but when an instant spark ignites between the two, it isn’t long before online chat spills over into real life dirty talk.
But while Paisley might love Bowen’s filthy mouth, when the pressures of his public career and her secret past explode, words won’t be enough to save them.
This single-parent romance brings the steam against a backdrop of professional bull riding, rodeo, and small-town cowboys.
USA Today Bestselling author Elle Thorpe is the author of over thirty romance titles, including Amazon top ten books, Start a War and Locked Up Liars. She is best known for her dark reverse harems, and sexy small town romances.
When she's not writing, she's probably out on her family's alpaca farm in rural Australia.
4.2 stars. This was sweet, and sexy, and fun. But, I think that blurb and the title really oversell on the dirty talkin. There is some of that don’t get me wrong, but it’s not this drawn out thing over their kid’s video game like the blurb suggests. And the dirty talk we do get isn’t all that dirty.
I still really enjoyed getting a front row seat to these two growing and connecting. Their relationship is super sweet.
This was low drama, only some past experiences clouding their future, and some punches being thrown at an inopportune time. There is a woman who could’ve caused jealousy and contention, but things never got catty and it was over before things even began. And there was a side story that happened alongside these two’s that had its own HEA. The sex was steamy, a little amusing at times, but it was pretty tame in my smutty opinion.
Also. I think it’s important to note that this takes place in Australia. I didn’t realize that until they started actually naming familiar places, and I was sort of just thinking the author was just writing Americans in her own Australian writing style. Which is fine, but can also be a bit distracting when I’m American and know for a fact that’s just not how we talk or spell. But after realizing they were in fact in Australia, everything but the story faded into the background again, just like it should. Just a bit of a warning so it doesn’t take you out of the story like it did me for a moment there.
Overall, I think it was a super cute book, and I had a good time reading it. I just wish they hadn’t tried selling us on an over exaggeration.
I love cowboy romance, so when i saw this cover and the title I HAD to read it. in the beginning, this book was so good, the tension was perfection. and then...ex drama happened! Paisley's ex-husband is an asshole and Bowen's dead wife was ''present'' during the second half of the book. If you don't mind the ex-drama, and you're looking for a sexy cowboy, this book is for you!
Oh. My. Gawd. Can we just take a second to appreciate that hot AF cover then get down to brass tacks. Thorpe has a brand new series. It has hot cowboys with dirty mouths. Stop the bus. This is my stop. I was lucky enough to read an early copy of Talk Dirty, Cowboy, and I can't tell you how much I loved Bowen. He's a bullriding hard-bodied single dad who starts talking to single mum Paisley over their kids' computer game. It's romantic and sweet but behind closed doors? Man, can this guy give good sexy chat. Honestly, the chemistry is off the scale. Hardworking Paisley is so relatable and I rooted for her the whole way through the story. But overall I just really really want my own Bowen. Sigh. Luckily, there's a whole series of sexy cowboys and I happen to be in love with book two's hero too ;)
Once again Elle Thorpe helps me to fall in love, and twists my heart and just all around makes my heart hurt and ache in the best and worst ways.
Bull riding single dad with a working single mom who meet by chance through their sons and build a beautiful relationship? Yes please! Perfect amounts of sweet and sexy and sad and happy. As with all of her books this one just reads as so real. Genuine people going through genuine problems. And so much beautiful love that you can’t help but root for these people. Five completely bright and shining stars.
I totally enjoyed this book, and that ending left me speechless Elle knows how to suck you in, I loved each and every character, well not Jonathan he needs a junk punch, or to be stepped on by one of Bowen’s bulls I cannot wait for more in this series...I love me a dirty cowboy and Elle delivers them ohh so dirty
This is book one in Elle Thorpe’s new Cowboy series!
Bowen is a bull rider for most of his life. Lost his wife a few years back and is a single dad now. He ‘meets’ Paisley on TV through a webcam, as her son is playing online games with Bowen’s son.
Sweet and sexy story about two single parents who were not really looking for a new love, but stumbled upon it. I totally enjoyed reading this book and will definitely read the next one as well. Elle left us a sneak peek and let’s just say she left us hanging 😉
I kindly received an arc from the author and voluntarily left a review
I so enjoyed Talk Dirty Cowboy it was a fun and sexy read, with a real cowboy country romance feel! Loved Bowen & Paisley's journey! I loved all the characters, not so much Jonathan though! I do love reading Elle's stories they never disappoint! That ending WOW can't wait to see what happens in book2??

Who doesn’t love a dirty talker? Add in a single dad 🤤 and then a cowboy on top and it’s some swoon worthy reading! This was my first book by Ms. Thorpe and I can’t wait to read more from her. Little fact no one knows about me my husbands cousins are JW and Cody Hart so I’ve watched a lot of bull riding and heard lots of stories and I will say the author did a great job. Can’t wait to see what’s to come in the future of this series!! *This book was available on Kindle Unlimited at the time of my review*
I have to preface this with a note that this cover is hands down one of the greatest covers I've ever seen LOL!
I'm a huge sucker for single parent (it's one of my favorite things to read) and I love a good cowboy romance. So you would think this book would hit the mark for me and don't get me wrong, I think there's a lot to like in this story. I think Bowen & Paisley are wonderful characters. I found their "first meeting" refreshing and realistic because I too would freak out if I saw some random man on a video game with my child.
I thought their chemistry was fantastic, it was genuine and I loved all of the side relationships with her friends and his friends. (Albeit her mom & his dad, if they like get married does that make Paisley & Bowen step siblings on top of being married at the end?) I think the author does a phenomenal job of keeping you invested in the lives of these characters - I found the intensity of the bull-riding moments to be gripping and authentic.
However, there were things that I did take issue with (personal opinion) - the major two being (1) their "third-act" breakup & (2) the past spouse drama.
In regard to the first: I hated that she broke up with him while he was in the hospital after suffering a near-death experience. I understand her reasons of why she did it but I didn't like it. Quite frankly I found their "break-up" to be utter bullshit. The fact that Bowen's friend (Deacon) had to be the one to tell him that Paisley felt like she was in the shadow of his dead wife drove me nuts. It made me frustrated to find out that instead of talking to him, she just decided to say she wasn't in love with him - therefore inducing the break-up. Absolutely mind boggling.
Now for the second: I don't loathe the dead spouse trope in books. I actually think it can be a beautiful thing to see someone realize they can fall in love again and be happy after experiencing something so tragic. I think journeys of healing and reflection can be beautiful and heart-wrenching. HOWEVER, I haven't found a book yet where I felt like they did it justice. I understand Paisley feeling like she's the other woman. But what I didn't like, is what came across to me as diminishing the prior relationship with Bowen's dead wife to make his relationship with Paisley “better”.
So for example, there's a scene where Paisley and Isabel are talking and the following is said: "Camile was...I don't know. She was difficult to like sometimes." "You don't think he's still in love with her?" "I'm not sure he ever really was. Or at least not since they were teenagers."
Everyone reads things differently, but for me it felt distasteful. It came across as if to make one relationship stand out more than the other, they had to go and put another one down; whereas I feel like that's not necessary. Also-side note: The scene where he's literally *inside* of her and she asks him if he loves his wife and then he like explains he loves her but he's not "in love" with her --- that was really uncomfortable and left a very very sour taste in my mouth.
Overall, if past relationship drama is a no, this is not the book for you. To put it mildly, there’s quite a bit of it. As I mentioned above, Bowen's dead wife is very much alive in this story & then you've got Paisley's ex-husband who is just quite frankly a dirty mop on the side of the road. He needed to be punched and it never happened so I'll have to daydream it.
Overall, (ignoring my two issues) I do think it was a good book and I think the author did a really great job in getting the reader invested in the characters’ relationship and story.

I got this on a whim and this is the first book I've read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised. Bowen was a strong, steady, sweet, and sexy cowboy that like to talk dirty. Paisley was a determined and dedicated mom who needed a little help and TLC. This wasn't some cheesy insta-love, it was real life and over coming past wounds and insecurities. It was a really good read and I can't wait to read the next one when it comes out
Oh lawd, this book was so good and it was the first book from this author that I've read.... I've already downloaded the other two in the series. I actually read a snippet from the book through a FB group and was smiling so much I had to one-click and I'm so glad I did. Bowen and Paisley were so much fun, sexy, witty and full of heart that I couldn't get enough of their story. I'm ready for the next book!!
This was fun and steamy and silly and who doesn’t love a dirty talking cowboy?!
Flew through this one quickly, loved the kids, maybe thinking about watching bull riding now (tbd), also I always forget Elle is Australian so that was even more fun.
I liked this. And while this was an accidental download (I hit the screen on Amazon too many times and ended up with this in my KU library WOOPS) I will read more because it was a pleasant surprise.
Omg this book was bloody awesome ! I literally couldn't put it down I loved it ... BUT that ending are u trying to kill me ??????? F#CK !!!!!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AUTHOR AND THIS BOOK ....
This was my first book by this author so I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I enjoyed Talk Dirty, Cowboy, but I didn’t love it I thought I would. I’m all for dirty talkers, cowboys, and single parent romances. So what went wrong for me? Mainly two things.
*Not of fan of when the main character has a dead spouse *Had a couple of issues with the heroine
I don’t know how I missed that Bowen had a dead wife in the synopsis, but I did and that’s my fault. I was going to DNF this when I found that out but I’m glad I didn’t and continued to finish this. While I don’t think that he was still in love with his ex-wife, I did feel like he was hung up on her death. He was so determined to avenge her death that he was going to miss out on a relationship with someone else.
Now, I loved Paisley and still like her. However, and I hate to say it, but she seemed a bit irresponsible at times. She let Bowen take up so much of her time that her own life was falling apart. She fell behind in her studies and was even losing her home, but she still made sure to go out and be there for Bowen. I felt as if she should have tried to take care of herself and her situation a bit more.
Relationship wise, I liked them together. The chemistry between Paisley and Bowen was sweet and I loved the way he never hesitated in showing Paisley that he was interested in her. It never felt awkward or like it was moving too fast.
For the most part, I did enjoy this. The banter and the chemistry between the characters were really good. After the ending I know I’m going to read the next book in the series when it released! If you are a fan of cowboy romances and don’t have an issue with dead spouses in books, then I would give this a try.
I received an ARC via the author for an honest review.
I simply adored this book. It’s fun, exciting, romantic and just an all around great read. The author pulled me in from the very start with a well written 2nd second chance romance with characters I just fell in love with. Well except for Jonathan, he needed his head bopped on numerous occasions.
Paisley is a divorced, single mother of two who is struggling to make it. Bowen is a single father and a pro circuit Bull rider who is having his own personal struggles. They meet by chance when their boys leave their gaming consoles with the sound and camera turned on. Bowen and Paisley begin talking at night via the game console, something both look forward to during the late hours. From here the story takes you on a wild bucking ride that will make you smile, laugh and maybe want to maim an ex-spouse.
Kudos to the author for a fabulous read. I can’t recommend it enough. This is the 1st book of the “Dirty Cowboy” series and this reader is anxiously waiting for book 2, Ride Dirty Cowboy. 2 Thumbs Up and 5 Stars. Grab this one up ASAP, you won’t regret it.
Bowen and Paisley - I loved their love story! I have been trying to find more WPBR love stories after Grace Mcgintys “8 seconds to fly”.....let me tell you. This might not be RH but it’s still a great story where you get all the cowboy goodness 😉🤠.
Paisley is an overworked mom of two with little time and even less money. Her EX is a jerk with no appreciation for raising their kids.
Bowen is a widower with a past he can’t shake and a son who adores him.
Together they meet through their sons, who’ve met through online gaming. When the video cam gets left on and the two meet for the first time and see each other, sparks fly.
After an unexpected drop in - they quickly realize they want more with each other. Bowen’s PBR career quickly gets a boost with his lucky charm 🍀 around and he finally has a chance to win the circuit for his dead wife. Can Paisley constantly live up to a ghost of a woman? Can they truly love each other with all of their flaws or is it just a warm bed they seek? 🐄 I thought this was great. Their love was no insta-love. It was pure getting to know each other to can’t live without you. It gave you all the feels and made you definitely root for the underdog. How to you live up to someone who is never coming back? Paisley did it was grace and amazement - she was a great character.
The author went into a great deal of info too during the bull riding where you definitely felt like you knew what was going on. Love when the authors do their research and kno their stuff!
I am from the states and now need to go look to Australian cowboys. Hmmmm. Like the “bank” just got a whole lot more interesting 😂😂
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 3/5 🔥🔥🔥 *Med Burn (just kissing until 64%) *MF Romance *First person POV - both Paisley and Bowen *HEA? Yes - the author also has an extended epilogue avail for download. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 The series continues with new main characters

My thoughts: 🔖Page 87 of 267 [Chapter] 12 Bowen - This is very good. First, I was wondering about cowboys in England, but we're in Australia.
I almost took a star off for that ending. This series was recommended to me and it's pretty good. I was trying to decide if I wanted to continue the whole series or just stop with this single book but the ending gave me no choice but to continue.
Recommend to others: Sure, it's not often you get a Western Romance from Down Under.
Dirty Cowboy 25 Reasons to Hate Christmas and Cowboys (2019) 1. Talk Dirty, Cowboy (2019) 2. Ride Dirty, Cowboy (2020) 3. Sexy Dirty Cowboy (2020) Mother Bucker (2023)
DNF at 47% Audiobook- I found the heavy Australian accents a bit difficult, but it added authenticity to the story that was actually set there. For that reason the narrators did do a good job. They set the scene well.
Pros: see above, the meet cute was fun and storyline cute. They initially met virtually when their young boys became friends on a video gaming console. They all then met in person. The kids were cute, the main characters had tons of potential and both being single parents and I found them to be down To earth and realistic… at least until the point I quit. Idk what happens at 48% & beyond.
The grandparents were cute….initially…
Until- 😬 the grandparents got together and hooked up. His dad and her mom going for a romp while their the mc’s are new into a relationship and not even out to their kids yet. I just couldn’t do it.
All I kept thinking was if they got married the father in law would also be the step dad. The son in law would also be the step son. Too much ick for me to care enough to continue. Shame because I like a dirty talking cowboy 🤠🤣
I forgot to write my review weeks ago when I finished this, so details are vague at this point. I love single parent books and this one had TWO single parents. They meet one day when Bowen's son was playing video games with Paisley's son and Paisley's son left the game on. So when she hears a man's voice, she thinks that Bowen is a predator. Of course, that wasn't the case, but I had to admire the protective mama bear that Paisley was. They continue to have chats online and they turn heated at times (but nothing nearly as 'dirty' as the title and synopsis imply). Eventually they meet, in a surprising way and I loved that part. From there, they continued to be thrown together and even their parents started a relationship. Overall, a pretty decent book.
There is the whole dead wife thing too that detracts at times. But it wasn't too over-the-top that I hated the book for it.
Talk Dirty Cowboy will definitely have you wanting to save a horse, or in this case maybe it should be a bull. Bowen’s dirty mouth will have your temperature peaking and your skin tingling. Paisley and Bowen are two people who are haunted by their pasts and are finding it hard to fight these demons. Theirs is a story that held me captive, made me smile, swoon and cry all at once. A book that stole my heart and had my pulse racing like a stampeding bull. As the country drawl of Bowen caresses your mind and the strength of Paisley has you in awe, it will be that country feeling that takes hold of you from the storyline and the friendships that will have you enamored by the start of this series.
Talk Dirty Cowboy by Elle Thorpe was a good read, but it was missing something for me. The story revolves around Bowen Barkley, a bull rider and single dad, and Paisley Ackerly, a single mom, as they navigate second chances and the undeniable pull between them. The setup had plenty of potential, and while the chemistry between Bowen and Paisley was written on the page, it didn’t quite feel authentic to me. That emotional spark I was hoping for just wasn’t there. On the plus side, if you’re looking for an ‘Aussie cowboy,’ this book delivers with its unique setting and characters. Overall, it was a decent read, but not a standout for me.
First off.. Holy moly. I’m still reeling from that ending!
Okay, who knew cowboys and bull riding could be so sexy. Talk Dirty, Cowboy was such a unique fun read. I was completely drawn into the story with its wonderful cast of characters and great dialogue.
Bowen is a single dad who rides bulls for a living. Paisley is a single mom struggling to make ends meet. The two meet one night by accident through their son’s gaming consoles, and the story takes off from there.
What can I say, I loved it. The intensity and details of the bull riding was spot on. The steamy chemistry, hilarious moments, and the few unexpected surprises made this an absolute winner. I cannot wait for the next one
Not knowing right off the bat that the book was set in Australia had me a little confused in the beginning. Other than that, I liked this story... and I really like Bowen Barclay.
All in all, a pretty sweet HEA.
I like how the epilogues in the books (25 Reasons and Talk Dirty, so far) give a glimpse of the next book. I really want to found lot what happens to Kai, Sunny and Addie.
This was so cute Bowen and Paisley are adorable. I love how they met and that it was a whirl wind romance for them. These two deserve the world. I also really like the side characters in this and want Addie to get her happy ending.
This was such a great read. My first from this author when I asked for a single parent recommendation. Plenty of emotions and fantastic chemistry. Loved that it was set in Australia.
