Will taking the leap from friends to lovers lead to a happily ever after, or will it destroy every dream they ever had?
Layla Jensen dreams of true love. A quiet soul, she walks through life with one simple goal. Stay invisible in a world where she's never felt enough.
After living in the shadow of her beautiful, vivacious sister and believing she never measured up, Layla has withdrawn into herself, watching life pass her by.
Enter Ethan Miller. Confidant, carefree and outgoing, he is the opposite of Layla in every way. He is also the one person who sees her. Who has always seen her.
With Ethan back in her life, Layla is reminded of the love she once craved and her heart slowly comes back to life. But as they fight to make their dream a reality, their happiness is placed in jeopardy from a threat they never saw coming.

“He became my best friend, my protector. And one day I realized he had become my everything.”
“He is so intrinsically entwined with my heart I have no idea how to live without him.”
**Synopsis:** Ethan and Layla had been best friends since they were four years old.
~ “When I was four, I was lying in the field behind my house, crying. Like, full-on sobbing, because a group of girls wouldn’t let me play with them. They said I was too ugly to be a princess. So, I’m lying there, feeling like my heart is breaking, trying to figure out how I can possibly make myself pretty enough, when suddenly this beautiful blue flower is shoved in my face. I turned around and there he was, asking if I would be his friend.”
In their Senior year of HS Ethan slowly started pulling away from Layla but she was too afraid to confront him and ask him why because she was afraid she would lose him. When Ethan announced he was attending college out of state, Layla was completely thrown for a loop. On top of that, Ethan pretty much ghosted Layla for the next three years.
Then, out of the blue, Ethan shows up at Layla’s college and wants to be best friends again (actually he wants more, but shh 🤫, don’t tell anyone😉)
Layla is furious with Ethan for the way he just left without a backward glance and left her broken hearted (because….shh 🤫, she might have a huge crush on him, but don’t tell anyone 😉).
The question is…can these two finally admit their true feelings and find their HEA or has too much time and distance destroyed what they once had.
~ “I don’t think we have anything to talk about, Ethan.” Her right eyebrow quirks, challenging me. “I mean, maybe we did three years ago, but you made it pretty clear you didn’t want to talk to me, so I think I’m good.”
“You destroyed me, Ethan, and I don’t think I can forgive you for that.”
**The following are my thoughts about this book: **
* * she ran to the field of wildflowers behind her home to escape the hateful words. Right away I was sucked in. My heart hurt for this sweet little four year old girl. 💔 ~ “I burst into the field behind my home and immediately fall in a heap amongst the beauty of the wildflowers, shoulders shaking as I purge the bitterness rioting through my body.”
* * on page 1, the connection between the H/h was immediately established. I knew they loved one another and offered support without words.
* * does Evie (the BFF) have a book? Because if so I’m definitely reading it. I loved her character. Sassy and snarky ~ “There are so many things I’d like to hold against you, but a grudge is not one of them.”
* * I think Ethan needs some anger management classes
* * Layla had some serious body image issues and my heart broke for the way she saw herself as ugly, chubby and flawed. ~ “In a world so obsessed with beauty, it is soul destroying when you realize you’re so far from that ideal, it’s laughable.”
* * Ethan… Gah!! ❤ ❤️ ~“I never thought you were a loser. I only ever thought you were exceptional.”
~ “You know why girls give you shit? It’s not because you’re ugly or because you’re fat. That’s just the lie they tell themselves.” “You are effortless perfection, and they try to crush you, so no one will notice how fucking short they fall in comparison.”
* * the mean characters said some truly hurtful and cruel things to / about Layla. It was easy to dislike them.
* * I thought Layla’s self image issues and Ethan’s issues with his dad could have been explored more. Adding some depth around these two issues would have rounded out the characters a bit more, IMO.

“I’ve realized that no matter how great my life is, if it doesn’t include her in some capacity, it feels like I’m only living half a life.”

This is a standalone that is also part of the series Fleurs D'Amour. A friends-to-lovers romance between Layla and Ethan, it was sweet and with the right amount of angsty.
Layla and Ethan have been friends since they were little kids, only four years old, and since then they are inseparable! They are best friends, protective of one another, caring and nurturing and they would do anything to keep the other safe and never jeopardize their friendship... even hide their love for each other.
Afraid of confessing their feelings and harming their friendship they value so much, they both end up in pain living so close but loving from afar. So when this pain becomes unbearable, Ethan thinks the only way is out, so he leaves her and their friendship behind so he can protect his heart.
When he realizes he wants her in his life no matter how, he comes back seeking forgiveness and, maybe, a chance at love with her.
He is so great to her, so loyal and protective, supportive and her biggest fan! He also loves her with all he has.
Layla is so sweet, and shy and insecure for so many things. We can relate to her, because she can so eaily she her flaws and maximize things she thinks are so ugly, but she can't see all her beauty and pureness, inside and out.
And when they finally decide to try and feel their love, she starts coming out of her shell, and it's beautiful.
"'We'll figure this ou. I promise I won't ruin us, Bug' 'Haven't you figured it out yet, Ethan? I've been waiting for you to ruin me for the longest time'"
I loved some of the secondary characters, such as Evie, Seth and Mia, and I would love to see them again!
Sometimes Layla was too trusting and naive, I was mad at her for that, but I could also understand it was part of her character. And Ethan was there the intire time to make sure she understands she can do and achieve so much more than she thinks.
Their love since the very beggining of theirs lives would make sure of that.
"Layla, I've loved you since we were four, I've loved you since we were twelve and I've needed you since I was twntey-one"
I was asked to take a chance on a new author who wrote a book called Under the Cherry Blossoms. The cover was simple and the story looked that it could be something that I would enjoy. I took the chance and then immediately asked when the next book in the Fleurs d'amour series would be out. Yes, I couldn't wait to read Dandelion Dreams. That's when I knew that there was just something about the way Amali Rose writes a story that totally draws me in and keeps me reading. Her stories are simple, romantic and utterly enjoyable. Amongst The Wildflowers was no different.
A friends to lovers … unrequited love story, Layla and Ethan were unbelievably meant for each other. Unfortunately, some people don't want them together and will do just about anything to stop it. But, they don't know the real history between the two of them. A history that goes back long before college … two people who truly knew each other … two people who really loved each other and never acted on it … two people who were always meant to be together. Once broken hearts are mended and the truth of why Ethan left are known, there's no stopping them even though one unbelievable bitch tries her hardest.
I loved this story. Amongst The Wildflowers really had a heart-warming message and I was thrilled with the way this story was told. Like I said, Amali Rose has a way with words. She knows how to tell a story, when to throw in the angst and when to let the love shine through. I loved that Layla wasn't your usual “perfect” girl and that Ethan saw past all of that. And I absolutely loved the ending … Karma really can be a Bitch.
This story was beautiful! This story held my attention and I read it in one sitting. I love Layla and Ethan. The chemistry and love between them as friends is amazing. They share a great past, but with obstacles in their way can they make it to share a future? Every book I have read by this author has been 5 star reads for me. I highly recommend them. *Magic Beyond The Covers Book Blog*
This book was absolutely adorable I just loved Ethan and Layla. Young love can be confusing and painful which the author does a great job portraying.
Layla and Ethan had been friends since they were four years old and through flashbacks we see how supportive they are of each other. When Ethan suddenly disappeared from her life it left a huge void one she's never really gotten over so when he appears again she is totally thrown.
I enjoyed reading about the dynamics of their relationship especially how they cope when feelings change. Evie is a great character she's the kind of friend everyone wishes they had.
With outside forces conspiring against them can they make the transition from friends to a lasting loving relationship?
5 beautiful Wildflower Stars! I adored Ethan and Layla’s story from the very second their eyes lock in the classroom. Evie is a friend I would undoubtedly jump at the chance to have on my side, she’s there for Layla through everything and she’s absolutely hilarious. If there’s a character I can say I loathe, it would be Michael and Tash hands down. We’re giving a second chance romance that is a page turner and will have you smiling more often then not. When Ethan decides to push forward he gives it all he has and it’s so sweet. When things get hot they get HOT. This is a standalone in a series but I highly suggest you read them all because you’ll fall in love without a doubt. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
Layla and Ethan have some pretty amazing history. The bond they share is incredible. To be honest i found myself a little jealous of it. Lol. They are literally life long friends and know everything there is to know about each other. That is what makes them the most perfect couple. They know all the ugly things and have seen each other in their most awkward moments. The 4 years apart should have put a giant wedge between them because of how it happened and the distance that was between them emotionally, physically and mentally but it didn’t even dull their bond. It is amazing. I am so glad they finally got over their own stubbornness and got together! Truly amazing storyline!! Kept me hooked to the very end! I literally couldn’t put it down!

Layla Jensen is attending college and has a small crush on the college quarterback, Michael Bradshaw but know she will never stand a chance. That is until he shows up back in her life. Ethan Miller was best friends with Layla Jensen until he all of a sudden disappeared and she never heard from him again until he shows up in one of her classes and sits down beside her. Now he has gone all protective over Layla and she is confused on why. When Michael asks Layla for a date she accepts but does he have an ulterior motive and is there a reason that Ethan is jealous? Can Layla discover what her heart wants and will she be able to open up and trust Ethan again after he left her in the past? This was such a great book about overcoming the past and beliefs in yourself to view yourself in a much more positive light. Layla was great but definitely had some issues with self esteem. She worked hard at school and stuck to herself and her best friend Mia. I was wondering about Michael and why all of a sudden he acted interested in her but everything made sense soon. Ethan was awesome and I loved how protective he was over Layla and you could tell how much he cared about her. I thought it was funny that he never directly said anything to her as they both cared in high school and nobody ever took the first step – so frustrating!! Tash was pure awful and I had no idea why she kept being so cruel to Layla. It was obvious that she was jealous but she made me so mad! Everything she did was full of malice and she needed to give her head a shake for sure! I loved when Ethan finally opens up to Layla about everything and things begin but then I was so mad at Layla for her actions after when she was thinking things through. Then everything exploded again and I was freaking out a little. The ending made me super happy and I am really enjoying this series! - By Rebecca
Amongst The Wildflowers is the third book in this series this author has published, it is a sweet novella but at times has a bite!
Layla and Ethan were best friends until he suddenly up and left her, literally and figuratively speaking. Now he is back! They are in their final year at college and he can’t stay away any longer. Layla has always believed she is ugly and is quite shy, often mistaken for being standoffish. Ethan knows the true her is very different.
I find I can really relate to Layla and her insecurities because they are so real, her character in general is very real. Ethan is such a sweetheart, a nincompoop for leaving her, but still a sweetheart. Everyone needs a wingman/woman like Evie, she’s the best. I’d love to read her story too. Then we have the not so nice characters and they are realistic too-unfortunately 🤭 add great descriptions that give clear visuals of all characters and it’s easy to feel a part of the campus.
Some fun humour is laced throughout the story, often quietly slipped in making me chuckle. There are also some very emotional scenes where you feel so devastated, for Layla mainly. Add a touch of drama where wanting to slap particular characters seems to come to the for front! All of these emotions and more are felt alongside each scene and person in the book. I always enjoy it when an author makes you feel like a participant rather than a spectator.
A thoroughly entertaining love story that leaves you feeling fantastic.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Amongst The Wildflowers is the third book in the Fleurs d'amour Series from Amali Rose. I have not read the book in front of this one and it can be read as a standalone. In this book we meet Layla and Ethan who have been best friends since they were children. They were each other's best friends but also have feeling for one another. However they are to afraid to admit these feeling and ruin their friendship so they keep their feelings to themselves and making their own selves miserable. This all becomes to much for Ethan and causes him to leave everything behind to protect himself until he realizes that no matter what he wants Layla in his life. Can these two every make a go of anything besides friendship between them? You have to read to find that out but I liked this book. It held my attention and is a story of true love and taking chances.
Amongst The Wildflowers was a book filled with characters that you immediately fall in love with and relate to on so many levels...
Growing up Layla had always felt like she was lacking, not pretty enough, skinny enough and she was bullied most of her young life. My heart broke for her and related to her on so many levels.. Ethan silences those self doubts for Layla, he stood up for her, protected her and became her everything starting at the age of four..their entire lives it was always Ethan & Layla until it just wasn't anymore. Ethan's sudden disappearance has left a hole in Layla's heart but she's done her best to move forward with her life; but has she been living or just existing? When Ethan returns to make amends and true feelings are revealed can Layla move past her hurt and let Ethan back in?
This book was filled with some great and not so great (Tash🖕) secondary characters, all the angsty goodness and will gut punch you right in all the feels. I definitely recommend you read Amongst the Wildflowers and this series it's so worth it 💋

4.5 Stars He's loved her since he can remember. She's loved him just as long. Now they both need to figure that out so they can get their HEA.
Layla and Ethan became friends when they were just four years old. And they stayed best friends until Ethan abruptly decided to go to a college far away and left Layla behind. He was her protector from the bullies, her shoulder to cry on, her everything. And when he left, he broke her heart.
It's been years and now he's back to fix what he broke. He uprooted his life, that he led for the past three years, to find her again and make things right. He's not sure if she'll ever forgive him, but regardless of how he can have her in his life, he wants anything she'll give him.
Layla isn't the same heartbroken girl he left behind. She's stronger now. Always plagued by her feelings of never being enough...not pretty enough or skinny enough, she has done her best to become someone she can accept. She's smart and driven. She stands up for herself and knows what she wants. However, there are always jerks out there trying to bring you down.
There is a bit of back and forth with these two and some angst that will keep your stomach in knots. I loved Ethan's love and dedication to Layla. It never wavered. Ethan always saw her for the beautiful person she was inside and out, she just needed to believe it. Their love for each other was exceptional and when they finally came together it was incredible. A perfect match full of heat and sweet moments to cherish. Their past was steeped in memories from childhood, undeniable attraction and mutual respect. They were destined. Two halves or a whole.
A story as beautiful as it’s cover I love the covers in this series and this one is gorgeous! Layla and Ethan are wonderful. This is a second chance romance that ticks all the boxes; there’s hot chemistry, jealous boyfriends and mean girls to top it off. I would like to put myself firmly in Evies corner, everybody should have a best friend like that. She is an amazing secondary character and it would be great to see her get her own story at some point too. I loved that she just got Layla, and that she is team Ethan, friends like that are one in a million but everyone should have one. The story flows beautifully and very naturally. The characters are relateable and engaging and I wanted to hug them, kick them and many things inbetween lol a really great read!
Amali Rose is quickly becoming an author that I don’t hesitate to read. She has the ability to write beautiful, emotional, angst filled romances that also have a hidden message to them and for me has touched close to home. Amongst The Wildflowers, I DEVOURED this book. I am exhausted today because I couldn’t and wouldn’t put it down until I was done.
Layla and Ethan’s story was beautiful, two best friends who lost each other only to reconnect and become more. I felt like Layla held a small piece of her in her character, I wanted her to find her happiness; I wanted her to find her love. I wanted to slap more than one person who tried to bring her down. Ethan is my newest book boyfriend. He is swoon worthy, he is sweet, he is sexy and he was exactly who Layla needed to be with.
Amongst The Wildflowers is a must read. It is a beautiful story about love, friendship and seeing the beauty within when others try to bring you low. Amongst The Wildflowers had tears in my eyes, a smile on my face and my heart feeling full. Amongst The Wildflowers is a book the needs to be at the very top of your TBR lists, this is one you don’t want to miss.
Where do I even begin with this one? It's literally my favourite Fleurs d'amour book! I cannot express just how much I loved it. I think because Layla was just so relateable with her insecurities, I felt such a deep connection with her. I could see myself in her shoes in so many scenarios.
I already thought Layla was cute as the kid sister of Cass, but she comes into her own in Amongst the Wildflowers. She's more grown up, and we see her high school crush turn into unabashed adult chemistry. Ethan was her best friend, until he wasn't. But when he saunters back into her life, it doesn't take long for their friendship to blossom into something more.
Ethan and Layla are adorable together. He is such a sweetie, always the first one to jump in and tell her how amazing she is. He doesn't put up with her insecurities, and never lets her use them as an excuse.
I'm not gonna lie, there will be moments when you want to slap someone up the side of the head, and times when you will feel heartbroken, but with the sadness comes a shining light that will pierce the darkness and make you believe in love.
As someone who deals with a lot of self doubt and body issues, I think Amali did a wonderful job portraying Layla's insecurities and hidden pain. There were times my eyes filled with tears alongside Layla. My heart truly hurt for her. What I loved most about this story was Ethan's love for Layla. She has so many insecurities and self doubt but he shows her over and over again just how beautiful and deserving she truly is. Of course, there was that annoying side character that had me wishing for a Mack truck to come screaming along to wipe her out. Although she caused unnecessary drama, karma got to her in the end (sucker). This friends to lovers story is short and sweet with a touch of heat thrown in. If you enjoy books that hit you in the feels, but also make you laugh, I highly recommend this book.
If you haven’t yet discovered the delicious sweetness of Amali Rose’s Fleurs d’amour series, you need to check it out right away! The first two books completely melted me and Amongst the Wildflowers is no different. Amali Rose creates characters that are relatable and you can actually feel the emotions of the story. This is something that a lot of authors have difficulty with and Amali completely nails it. Ethan and Layla’s story is so heart-warming and captivating, I loved it and I know you will too!
I can't even begin to describe how much I love this book! Once again Amali has put an amazing book out there! I never tire of reading her work. I think so may women, myself included, will be able to relate to Layla. This story is beautifully written. Sometimes we get caught up in the self negativity in our own minds and forget our own worth. Sometimes it is hard to love ourselves. Amali did an extraordinary job writing on this subject and giving Layla the story and love she deserves! 💕
Amongst the Wildflowers is the third book in the Fleurs d’Amour series. While it is the series it is a completely stand-alone book. This installment follows the reintroduction of estranged best friend Ethan Miller into Layla Jenson’s life. The love that these two characters share started as a childhood infatuation to a teenage crush to adult love. Their chemistry is amazing, but it’s all the other moments that tug at your heartstrings. When jealousy brings a threat to their newly found happiness, will the insecurities of the past cause these lovers to lose their way or will the truth win out in the end? An engaging story with believable characters, steamy love scenes and all the feel, Amongst the Wildflowers, is a must read!
A beautiful story about friends turning into more. Layla has been bullied her whole life but her best friend Ethan had always kept her strong until one day he’s gone. Ethan is now back and just wants to tell Layla the truth about everything but will it end him broken hearted? I loved this book! Every girl has thought that they weren’t good enough but this book proves that someone out there sees the real you and loves you for yourself. Definitely a book everyone needs to read. Ethan will have your heart swooning! 5/5 stars
Amongst The Wildflowers is the third book in Amali Rose's Fleurs d'amour series and like all three books it can be read as a standalone.
I loved Ethan and Layla's story yet again Amali wrote a book that is sweet with a little angst and characters you can't help but fall in love with, I've read a few friends to lovers stories and sometimes you can't help question how they didn't know how they felt for each other but with Ethan and Layla they each had their reasons which are totally understandable, I loved ever word and would 100% recommend this book ❤
A first read from Amali Rose for me, but I have loved these book covers for a while now. They are gorgeous.
Ok to the meat and potatoes. This book was so very good. I loved Ethan and Layla. There was so much history for them.
There were funny parts in the book, parts that made me smile and parts that made me sad. I loved Ethans nickname for Layla and I did not like Michael very much!
This was a great introduction for me to the wonderful world of Amali Rose.
This is hands down my favorite book by Amali and the writing is incredible!! Layla and Ethan were everything!!! The buildup to them was amazing, even though I found myself screaming at my kindle. So many feels in this book!!! The sex scenes were so hot and passionate!! I didn't want to put this book down nor did I want it to end! Even though this is a standalone, I highly Recommend reading all the books in this series!!
This author is new to me and I am happy to say I found one that I will follow.
This story was about Layla and Ethan. They have known each other since they were four and had always been in each other's lives until Ethan leaves for college. Each one loved the other but never had the guts to let their feelings known. Now Ethan is back to fix what he has broken. This was a sweet story with some cringe worthy drama and lots of sweet, loving moments.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done! ❤️
This is the third book in the Fleur D’Amour Series. This story, a beautiful and sweet second chance love story, can be read as a standalone. The main characters, Ethan and Layla, are lovable and their chemistry is strong. The story is believable and beautifully written, as always with Amali Rose. The storyline has angst, heartbreaking scenes, but so much love and a heartwarming HEA. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Finnnallly, Layla's story! After reading Skye and Cass' book, I knew I wanted Layla's story! She was always the opposite of her wild, gorgeous, outspoken sister. She's sweet, reserved, good girl, and good head on her shoulders. I am such a sucker for a best friends to lovers story. Especially if they go way back to childhood. Layla and Ethan are so meant to be together. They keep their true feelings for each other to themselves, constantly wondering if they should cross the line because what would happen if there was rejection? Would their friendship be ok? Would it survive?
While there was some groveling he had to do and her to get over this huge wall he created, they had such a wonderful friendship/love for each other. Their chemistry was amazing. When they finally got together, WOW , it was hot, steamy and all the above.
I loved Ethan and Bug's story. You don't have to read books 1 & 2, but it would be great to know the back story of Skye, Cassidy and their HEA's. I love the covers of this whole series, they're gorgeous. Loved this best friends to lovers story!
I received an ARC for an honest opinion. This is the third story in the series and what an entertaining story it is. Layla and Ethan have a beautiful childhood friendship but neither wants to destroy the friendship by declaring their mutual feelings. Layla has always had to deal with bullying and fitting into societal norms; Ethan has always been there seeing how beautiful she truly is, if only she could see it. There chemistry is wonderful and with a few twists and turns this ends up being a beautiful feel good story. I would definitely recommend this book and series to others.
Yet again Amali Rose has outdone herself. This is the third standalone book in the Fleurs d'amour series, and it's just as good as the other two. Amongst The Wildflowers is centred around Layla "Bug" Jensen and her childhood best friend Ethan "Millhouse" Miller. When Ethan comes back into Layla's life, she has to overcome her insecurities, the sceptics and of course the ones that will try to derail the possible friends to lovers scenario. You'll have lots of feels, laughs and "can I strangle ...? I'm really not liking them" moments. All up, an awesome read.
Friends to lovers, second chance, and seriously sweet romance what could be better?! Amali Rose stole my heart with Amongst The Wildflowers with her amazing writing bringing Ethan and Layla to life in a way that had me totally addicted to their story. Perfectly balancing with sugary sweet swooniness with a bit of drama to really hook you deep and pull you in I devoured this book in a matter of a couple hours unable to put it down! I’ll tell you now, Ethan is a man you won’t be able to resist. The way he loves Layla, and has always loved her had my heart melting the second I met him. Even with the mistakes from his past his love for Layla pours from the pages and wraps you up in a blanket of warm fuzzy goodness. I adored Layla as much as I did Ethan. Her shy sweet personality hid a sassy side that rounded out a truly beautiful girl.
