It’s always easy to write reviews about books that won you over, flashed you…. But writing a review about a book that wasn’t your cup of tea is not so easy for me.
Specially because I want to be fair, open and honest without hurting anyones feelings.

”He’s powerful, yet gentle. He’s forceful, yet attentive. He’s a sweet dream, and a horrible freaking nightmare all rolled into one.”

So here I am, writing a review for a book from an author I adore and know how great she is with words. How easy she captured my mind and heart in the past.
Bang Bang calls itself a romcom, but to me it was not funny at all. Maybe it was just not my kind of humor. But only a very few scenes had me smile big or giggle a little. Otherwise I found nothing really funny in there.

”He’s my armour. He’s my safety net. He’s the protector of my life.”

The characters were flat. To me there was no depth in them, nor did I detect any development. I really do know what Belle Brooks is capable of in delivering characters that grow on you, so you can imagine my surprise when theses characters did nothing for me.
With these characters I was mostly annoyed. Miranda was annoyingly childish. I understand that not all 20 year old can be or act like grown ups and that there is still some childishness in them. But to me, Miranda came across as highly imature and it was hard to believe that a 35y old man, who has seen more bad in his life than not – someone with both feet on the ground – can fall for a childish, immature 20y old.
Lane … what can I say about him? I love how devoted he is to his job, to rescue someone in need, to make sure people are safe. But I don’t understand his actions toward Miranda at all in the first place. It had me shaking my head in disbelief a lot. To me he was not interesting at all.
In addition to all that, the chemistry or attraction between Miranda and Lane was almost none existent.

”He was the fireworks I needed to explode my life into my soul even though I never knew it at the time.”

The idea of the story was great. But I didn’t get what I expected. I couldn’t get into the story, there where more questionmarks than not.
So why did I finish this book? Well, I was hoping the author would turn back the tide. I wanted to give the book the chance to prove me wrong. But from the first page to the last, this book – sadly – was nothing for me.

Bang Bang with its interesting storyline, filled with drama, action, suspense has surely the potential to entertain you.

*I received a free copy of Bang Bang. This has in no way influenced my review which is honest and unbiased.*

DNF at 28%

Bang Bang is a romantic comedy, and it was just not a story I was able to get into. There’s a lot of silliness and suspense of disbelief, and I guess I was just not in the right mood for it? I’m sure a lot of readers will enjoy it, because it is rather fast paced, and there’s a lot going on. I mean, an undercover cop dealing with human trafficking, and a girl who is totally in the wrong place at the wrong time. And so, she has to go with the undercover cop to stay safe.

The writing is good, too. But as I said, I was not able to get into the story at all, and since I have so many books to read, I decided to let this one go.

4 star Review Bang Bang by Belle Brooks
The blurb for Bang Bang was intriguing and as I love romantic suspense stories I jumped at the chance to read and review.
This book was not what I was expecting and I was hooked from the first to the last page. Bang Bang was full of drama, suspense and danger and had me on the edge of my seat as I read.
Miranda was a likeable though somewhat naive young woman who manages to get herself in to some difficult situations. She seemed particularly young although she is 20 but as the story progressed she came into her own which I was pleased to see.
There was humour along with quite a few twists and turns along with the suspense which added to my enjoyment. The chemistry between Miranda and Haggerty smoldered even though there weer times that I did not think that they would move forward.
This is my first read from Belle Brooks and if this book is anything to go by, it will not be my last.

Bang Bang by Belle Brooks is the story of Miranda and Haggerty.
Miranda seems to find herself in different situation that become a comical and sometimes dangerous. When she finds herself in on situation she makes the best of it when she sees her favorite Bakery offering free cake sampling for engaged couples. So Miranda grabs a random guy Haggerty to pretend to be her fiance. When Haggerty makes a run for it he leaves behind his phone and Miranda runs after him. Then the Bang Bang of danger is heard.
This was a funny but yet action adventure romance.

I just adore Belle Brooks and her stories. I just couldn't wait to read this one, and it didn't let me down one bit.

Amazing characters (love Haggerty), an addictive and suspensful storyline that will have you in fits of giggles (I was literally laughing my head off) and on the edge of your seat.

A great story always starts with cake.

Definitely recommend Bang Bang.

3.5 stars. First off, I really loved the premise! I really liked "Haggerty" a lot. I struggled to connect with Miranda at times. I laughed hard at a few scenes! The suspense/danger factor was missing for me. Maybe it was rushed for my personal liking? Overall, the book was good and I would recommend it to others!

This book was so much more than I was expecting.
It starts off simply enough with University student Miranda Sikes grabbing an innocent passerby off the street to act as her fake fiance so she can eat free wedding cake at her favorite cake shop. Haggerty doesn’t know what’s happening, but he’s more than a little entranced by the girl who dragged him into a cake shop under false pretences. She’s flaky and ditzy… but, he knows he’s not the one for her and makes a hasty exit.
Miranda is left like a ‘Prince(ss) Charming’, of fairytale land, only instead of a shoe that dropped on the ground its a phone. A mad-cap race follows as she tries to track her ‘intended’ down, where she loses her shoe, her mind and becomes embroiled in the craziest fight for her life.
Miranda and Haggerty have a bit of a love/hate relationship to start off, she’s always trying to find a way out of the unbelievable situation she’s found herself in.
In my opinion, although this story is funny here and there, it’s more suspenseful and dramatic than a regular rom/com. But, it’s still a really, really good story. It’s fast-paced and has plenty going on. Definitely worth a read.

Rom-Com isn't an easy sub-genre to write in romance. Leave it to Belle Brooks to wrap herself around the shtick and nail it with her new release Bang Bang. She takes the wrong place, wrong time trope and runs with it, as cake-loving Miranda pulls Joe Haggerty off the street for a bite of cake and soon discovers she's bitten off more than she can chew with the random street hunk.

Brooks brilliantly constructs the who done it with fun unconventional antics. The banter between Miranda and Haggerty flows throughout the novel. In true Brooks form, there is suspense, a sense of realism, humor, and a budding love which makes it altogether a fun light read. End your summer with a Pow and pick up Bang Bang. You won't regret it!

All Miranda wanted was to eat cake.  Standing outside of Alessandro's, a very upscale cakery, she sees a sign advertising free cake tasting for engaged couples only.  So she grabs the first guy to pass her on the street and drags him inside for a sample.  Before she can  taste the cake, her "fiance" gets an emergency call and drops his phone while bolting through the door.  Miranda goes after him and gets caught up in an undercover sting trying to bring down a sex trafficking ring.  The story itself was okay, Miranda was immature and juvenile, selfish and just plain old annoying.  The characters and their personalities just really didn't do anything for me other than want to toss the book aside.

I really enjoyed Bang Bang.
Miranda is hungry and as she's passing Allesandro's, the superb wedding cake shop, which happens to have a tasting going on...if you go in with a fiancé...she's desperate for their glorious goodness, and grabs a stranger off the street and drags him in with her...
And so begins a chase - after her "fiancé", and her headlong flight into being on the run - chaos ensues wherever she goes. But through it all, her "fiancé", Haggerty, rescues her, lies to her, and protects her.
You can feel the sparks fly between them, and their banter had me laughing out loud.
Very enjoyable read!

This is a thoroughly entertaining rom com with a good helping of suspense. It is very well written with plenty of pace and action throughout.

The characters have depth and though the heroine is larger than life at times they are all believable. The premise is original, and in equal measures funny and gripping.

There are some heart stopping moments as well as plenty of humour. If you want to escape from the humdrum for a while, look no further than this engaging story. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author

This book has intrigue written all over it!

From the moment we meet the bumbling, adorable and slightly defeated Miranda, were on her side. I mean, how can you not? The woman is my spirit animal. Desperate for the best cake in town, she ropes in an inspecting passerby to play the role of her fiancé so she can get free cake. 🍰

Little did she know, wanting cake would be her downfall. Minutes later, she takes a wrong turn and ends up smack bang in the middle of something anyone would want to avoid. The only consolation is, the older, protective Haggerty.

Filled with twists and turns, you’re left wondering if not only they’ll get out of this mess in one piece or will the forced proximity between them end in a happily ever after or will they drive each other to distraction but perhaps more importantly is there more cake in their future.

Brooks writing is definitely not predictable and you have no idea where she’s going to take you on her next adventure. Bang Bang is yet another example of her stretching herself and, thankfully, taking us all along for the ride.

Talk about being at the right place at the wrong time. But Miranda brought that on herself because of cake. I enjoyed Bang Bang. I loved Haggerty! Miranda not so much. She was cute in her own way but I didn't care for her but they make it work as a couple. Belle knows how to keep a reader on their toes. I am disappointed in the ending. I feel like there could be more. The book is filled with drama, action, suspense and will make you laugh at times.

I haven’t read many books from this author and thought Id give this book a go as it sounded rather intriguing from the blurb!
The story was full of suspense, drama and I often wondered what will happen, if the characters will be ok at the end!
My heart beat fast in certain moments and I really felt for Miranda and what she has to go through, she was rather naive and unsure but part way through she seemed to fight to get out of the position they were in!
I liked the suspense aspect but some parts just seemed a bit too much for me. A good story with a good ending.

Bang Bang is Belle Brooks at her very best.
She has the most wicked sense of humor that just translates so well onto the written page that you find yourself being kicked out of bed in the middle of the night after waking your husband for the third time because of the shenanigans of Miranda and Peter/ Rhett/ Lane.
But this book is so much more than laughter, it's the underlying emotions and danger that make this book a complete and utter pleasure to read.

I’ve heard of Belle Brooks, and I’ve seen her name around for quite a while, I’ve just never actually picked up her work before and after picking up this book I can say that I’m now a fan of her work. I was captivated by the story and couldn’t help but be intrigued, I think that Belle did such a great job and that she should be proud of what she’s produced. A couple of things that I found not to my liking was that every now and then it just seemed like there was too much going on and that it would get a little confusing trying to figure out what was happening. The other thing was that you can see that there’s chemistry and heat between both Lane and Miranda, so I don’t get why there is literally only one scene when they actually are together properly, I understand that she’s meant to be a virgin but still, I just think it let the story down just a little because it would have been interesting to see how things progressed with them on the physical side on things. Other than those two things, I couldn’t fault the story at all as it was catchy and had interesting characters. I know that I’d be happy to pick up more of Belle’s work and read it and if you’ve not given this book a try then you should because it is well worth it.

Miranda is such a sweet girl, she’s doing her own thing and is out in the world getting her degree at college. Her day isn’t off to a good start after having the watch shop owner try and con her out of more money than necessary, missing the bus and not being able to eat some of the cake that she so desperately loves. With quick thinking, she grabs the first guy she sees and drags him into the cake shop so that she can try all the wedding cakes, but as fate would have it, it’s clear that she’s not going to get very far as they guy she’s grabbed ends up dashing out of the shop without his phone…. Her instincts kick in and instead of just going about with her day, she decides to grab his phone and follow him, however it’s the last thing she should of done because due to her quick thinking she’s now being taken out of the life she’s ever only known. Will she be safe or are things set to turn out pretty bad for her?

Another great RomCom from Belle

Belle Brooks has this uncanny knack with her stories, she will either make you cry really ugly, or she will have you laughing so much that there is the possibility you may just have an embarrasing accident. BANG BANG was one of those stories that constantly had me laughing out loud.

Bang Bang introduces two of the most unlikely characters that you just can't help but love. Miranda is a young college student who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or is it Haggerty who is in that position? No matter who it was, Belle has ensured plenty of giggles and tense moments once these two meet up, all it took was Miranda's desire for a slice of cake. Who would have that that cake would turn a person's life upside down?

Miranda and Haggerty are simply wonderful characters, their constant bantering will have you both laughing and cringing. The chemistry betwen the two burns brightly, however there are a few hiccups that they need to overcome. You know with Haggerty being an undercover cop, and the way in which Belle writes her stories, that there are going to be quite a few twists to the storyline ... and she certainly doesn't let anyone down in this area.

This was another really fun read from Belle's wonderful imagination. Plenty of fun, tender and suspenseful moments woven together to ensure yet another thoroughly enjoyable story.

Definitely a recommended read.

This fantastic read starts out with college student, Miranda Sikes having a very bad day when she sees free sampling of wedding cakes at her favorite place, Alessandro. The only problem is that she has to have groom along with her, so she grabs some strange guy to bring him in the bakery. And in the middle of the bright spot of her day, he gets an emergency call, runs out, loses his cell phone, so Miranda runs after him to give it back. Now, her day has gotten even worse, because she ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time. That stranger, Haggerty, saves her, and has to basically kidnap her back to his place, because Miranda got in the middle of his undercover case. Now, she's stuck playing his serious girlfriend, whether she likes it or not, and she doesn't like it at all, but she's in some serious danger, so Haggerty had no choice. And this is just the first part of this absolutely fun story! Now they're on a very entertaining journey that has a big side of danger to it all. Miranda was crazy as hell, and had me rolling in laughter at all the chaos that followed. Not to mention, there's some chemistry between the two, so you know how it is, close quarters with danger at your heels, that chemistry wouldn't be denied, so they set the sheets on fire. So here it is, there's suspense for days, super hot sexy times, and so many hysterically funny moments, that Bang Bang was the perfect read in my opinion. And so I promise you all, you want to know how it all pans out so get to one clicking! It's totally worth it, & I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

What a great read. It was very well written with a ton of humour that had me laughing out loud, a great storyline and some great interactions between all the characters.
I loved the relationship between Miranda and Haggerty right from the beginning. I loved how sassy Miranda was with Haggerty, I loved the fights they both put up and how resistant she was to go along with his plan but I loved how she never gave up. My heart really felt for Miranda and what she had to go through without much of a choice and I loved her growing connection to Haggerty all throughout the story. I found them great together and I loved how caring he was of her pretty much right from the start, I just loved Haggerty.
I did feel like the book fell a little flat after the start until just before half way, for me it was like I didn’t feel the book going anywhere but then the half way point came and boom! Things got real interesting. This whole book was definitely a page turner that I couldn’t put down even in the first half of the story. I was still interested and I loved the back and forth between Miranda and Haggerty in those parts, I was dying to find out what happens to them.
Though I would’ve loved to have more of an ending as I did feel it kind of just ended and some answers that I still had questions to, it was a wonderful read that I really loved and enjoyed

A full on mile a minute adventure for Miranda.

Miranda, how can I describe her without being mean, mmmmmm bumbling idiot, no, err blonde whatever, maybe but what ever she is we all know that one friend who acts just like her. No street smarts, acts as though she knows it all, doesn't listen to authority and only when it really hits the fan does she stop and think about her actions. Yep I have that friend. She wants free cake and grabs the first man that comes along but then it really does not the fan between dead bodies, lives being threatened and being on the run but it doesn't go to well for the undercover reactive Haggerty/Lane/Rhett either. I just wanted to shake her and tell "listen to him you airhead" but as it's a book I couldn't. She didn't endear herself to me either with her I know Mr Miagi meets karate kid self defence but she was laugh a limit especially with the one liners she gave to Lane (undercover cop) and the in her mind commentary we got every so often. Will they survive their ordeal?, I can't tell you which means you need to read the book. Will she finally be able to use her Mr Miagi moves? Who knows. A great book from the start to finish. I would of liked a little more to see what happens to the two main characters in an epilogue of sorts as inquiring minds want to know.

Comedy, action, suspense and light your panties on fire love are all in this epic story. I didn't want this story to end. Belie Brooks is an author that I intend to stalk, er read more of.

A crooked watch repair man is the catalyst to thrusting Miranda into an undercover mission. Bad guys are around every corner but thanks to cake (really good cake) she is now being protected by detective Haggerty. Only problem is she has to pretend to be his fiancee.

Lane Haggerty has been working undercover for a while to take down a human trafficking ring. Everything is going as planned until cake (really good cake) puts a wrench (and yummy icing) in the mix. Pun intended. Now he has to protect the young, gorgeous and completely irritating Miranda and avoid getting killed in the process.

OMG! This book is amazing. Its different than any book I've read. It has everything without being too much. I fell in love with the characters and found myself laughing and crying right along with them. I look forward to reading more from this author and highly recommend this book.

Ok I love Bang Bang it had me die laughing at times and then being afraid along side Miranda I wasn't board at all through out this story it just had my adrenaline pumping with every chapter . Miranda is so the chick I love reading about with her inner thoughts and the way she has a soft spot for free wedding cake I mean come on yum . Haggerty this guy is just wow the things he does for the heroine even though it might put him in danger he will do anything to protect Miranda and guys he is hilarious . I really loved the banter those two share they just one up each another with one line zingers . I hope this isn't the last we see of this couple because this story was just that good it made me fall for them .

Well, this was not what I was expecting, but then I don't even know what I was expecting. Belle Brooks is new to me. This book was fun, enjoyable and so easy to fall into. It held humor, heat, and even a little drama and suspense was thrown in there. Weave all that together and you get a fantastic easy-paced, funny, somewhat intense read that I could not put down. The characters were flawless, Miranda was one of a kind, at the start I was sure how I felt about her. But as the book progressed, she kind of grew on me, add in Lane and their weird, fun, and crazy relationship then... You get this masterpiece. I found myself laughing more than I probably should, in parts where it probably wasn't supposed to be funny but that's nothing new for me...

All in all this book had everything you would want in an easy, somewhat light-hearted rom-com and I will definitely be reading more of Belle's book in the near future!

It was extremely well written, and the character progression and build up throughout the book was on point, the push and pull with the two main characters was highly addictive and fun to read. I think the author nailed this!

There were so many times that it would have been inappropriate to laugh, but I couldn't stop myself from laughing. Bang, Bang starts off with a literal bang. Miranda is just a girl who wants some cake. I think we can all relate to that. She never knew the man she snagged on the side of the street to be her fake groom would be the one to take her on a huge scary adventure. I laughed, a lot. I cringed, a lot. And I thoroughly enjoyed Miranda and Haggerty's story.

Jam packed with action, we follow Miranda and Haggerty in their journey to love, hilarity, and sex traffickers. There were a few times I wanted to smack Miranda for not trusting the one person trying to make her safe, but at the same time I understood I'm just an observer and have no idea how I would have handled that situation. Miranda was naive, but sweet. She has a quick wit and though she seemed a bit selfish, you can understand. She was thrust into something she never expected, all she wants is to go home. Haggerty is a sweetheart with some major protective instincts. The way he cares for Miranda while also trying to do his job was sweet to watch. These two have a slow and sweet start. Even though the conditions weren't right to fall in love, neither of them had a choice.
