“My heart enlarged at a thought I’d never had for another woman... I wanted to keep her.”

Leaving his Navy career behind, Mac Whittaker is ready to join his family on Capitol Hill and pursue the political dream he’s had since childhood. He has the entire American fairy tale at his fingertips, and all he needs to complete it is a woman he adores at his side.

When he finds the mesmerizing Georgie Astrella vacationing at his best friend’s beach house, he’s sure the pulsing in his veins means she’s the one.

Problem is, Georgie isn’t looking for a man or love. She’s just getting back on track after putting her goals aside for way too long. With the contract on her Grandma’s salon expiring, she can finally return to graduate school and bury herself in the law that’s always called to her.

She certainly can’t afford for the intoxicating kiss she shares with the oh, so charming Mac-Macauley to turn into anything requiring her heart.

Fate has other ideas, throwing them together until neither of them can walk away from the attraction thundering across their souls.

But her family’s past would make his future an impossibility, and they’ll have to decide just what they’re willing to sacrifice for love.

From award-winning author, LJ Evans, comes a story of family and sacrifice inspired by Lewis Capaldi’s “Bruises.” If you like vibrant characters and emotional journeys, you won’t want to miss this friends-to-lovers, military romance.

**Read as part of the Anchor Novels box set**

"What if…"
Whenever I read a book by LJ Evans, I always think I've experienced something. If you've read my reviews of her other books, I think that's easily noticeable. And it always feels heavy, which is not a bad thing. It makes me feel like I've lived through the story.

'What ifs', and our fear of them while longing for them at the same time, is what this story's about for me.

"'We aren’t a romance novel, Mac.”
“Maybe we should be.”

This is the story of Mac and Georgie. Georgie was briefly introduced in the first book, and it was easy to see Mac was interested in her. They seemed so different, the military guy and the hairdresser who wears different colored contact lenses because she likes to. And yet, not so different after all.

"But all I know is that when I kissed you, I felt forever. Forever in one kiss."
Mac is in the military. In fact, this box set is about three friends who are in the military, so that's the recurring theme. He comes from a family that has deep roots in politics and in DC. So, he's leaving the military to pursue his political aspirations, so maybe he can be part of making the world a better place. I think Mac's the sweetest thing. I loved his family. I loved his friends. I loved his heart.

"You’re light and dark and hopes and fears all wrapped together."
Georgie comes from a Russian family. Her dad's in jail, and her mom's remarried to yet another Russian criminal. She's used to fending for herself in life, and after years of running her late grandma's hair salon, she wants to go back to Law school. She's chasing her dreams, and taking nothing for granted.
She's is in many ways the Yin to Mac's Yang. Because they complete each other and fit together, even if they don't see it.

“I told you that you have all the beautiful words when you speak from your heart.”
“It’s because you are my heart. All of it.”

The first meeting between them in the first book was hinting at something. When they meet in this book, surrounded by friends who are family, there's no denying the chemistry between them. It's attraction, and lust, and so much more that is pulling them together, even though they probably shouldn't be.
But then, what if?

And when they realize they will be living together in DC, along with Mac's sister, it does seem like fate's giving them a hand, a little nudge in the right direction. If only they embrace it, that is.

"Love… It doesn’t come often. Sometimes, it only comes once in your life."
In the middle of the whirlwind of emotions they have for each other, there's the other bits of the story that make this a wild ride. His family, and how wonderful they are. Her family, and the trouble they can cause. DC, its politics, and its politicians, and a very tasteful approach to the issue of sexual harassment - this was done right, in my opinion. And loss, the kind of loss that makes you question which life you want to live: the one you settle for, or the one where all the 'what ifs' can actually be a reality.

"The only future I gave a damn about was the one with her at my side."
This is a slow-burn romance. I sometimes wanted to scream at both of them. It seemed to be taking a lifetime, but it wasn't. They came together just at the right time, because LJ is a master storyteller and that's what she does.

"“You love me?”
And I couldn’t believe that she doubted it. That she hadn’t taken every moment of the forevers I’d spoken, every moment my lips had been on her body, every moment my soul had sat next to hers, and just knew, but she didn’t."

There was a constant pushing and pulling, which became more and more heated when they were living together. There was a constant longing between them, and a back and forth between what they thought they could only dream of, and what they can really have. It was heartbreaking at times, but so endearing.

"And I knew that I’d do whatever it took to keep her laughing for the next hundred years, and I wished on all the stars that shone out the window that we would have that long and more."
Bottom line, both of them needed to see that living with 'what ifs' can kill you. It can stifle the life you want to live and leave you with a life you're just OK with. Mac and Georgie are two lost souls who found each other, and forged a life together in which reality trumps dreams and 'what ifs' every day.

What a ride!

“But all I know is that when I kissed you, I felt forever. Forever in one kiss.”

this was okay, I liked it, but it just wasn’t for me. It was insta-love with a side of slow burn lol. I didn’t feel a deep connection with the romance of the main couple, but like individually and everybody else made this worth it. Mac’s family, Eli, Ava, Truck, Darren, Nash, Theresa, like damn. I want to meet them all!

ME: Trust me. You don’t want me as family.
DANI: Too late. You already are.

I love how LJ dives deep into each characters and brings them to life. I really like her writing, and sure some dialogues are cheesy as fck, but whatever. Some details did felt unfinished and others were kinda thrown in the back, but overall it was enjoyable.

It was time someone protected Georgie and her dreams, and I wanted that someone to be me.

I did not expect to feel so emotional in that last bit. Like damn, I liked the guy. It was bunch of things thrown together that actually made my heart ache. I took a look at the other books and Im so excited for the rest of the couples. I think most of them are insta-love, which isn’t my thing, but I like… can’t resist to read them heh.

“I told you that you have all the beautiful words when you speak from your heart.”

“It’s because you are my heart. All of it.”

I love reading a book that I can just get lost in....lose track of time, forget it’s not real life, forget these are fictional character and not people I know....this is one of those books. I am pulled in from the beginning as I get to know Mac and Georgie. I love getting to know the characters before the characters get to know each other. I love the music at the beginning of the chapters...it’s so uniquely LJ Evans and adds to the story. The characters and side characters are fantastic and makes me want everyone’s HEA stories. I am not a highlighter when I read but I found myself highlighting sentences and passages because there were so many amazing words and thoughts tucked in this book. If I could shout from the top of a building “read this book” I would....it should be an automatic 1-click for romance readers everywhere!

I really really want to go into all the amazing details of Forged by Sacrifice, but alas, I'm not going to as it's soooooo much better for everyone to go in blind to experience all the goodness by the talented LJ Evans. I LOVED how it started out developing Mac & Georgie first before all the political stuff came down the pike, which makes it original in my opinion. I LOVED both of them, especially since it was Mac who first came to the table about the feelings, although he was going into politics with all the background stuff. Georgie definitely shared in them, but she was a harder nut to crack between the two, even though Mac felt like he had to have everything perfect with his life. It made for a delicious push & pull that could be frustrating, yet it really wasn't. I mean, these two had some serious chemistry, and I was reading with bated breath for when said chemistry wouldn't be denied. The cast of secondaries also rounded out this amazing read since they were so entertaining, and loyal to boot. Obviously, with politics coming into play, there was going to be some big drama added to the mix, because well the media which is always there for the scandals, but Mac practicing not cussing had me laughing my behind off. Then the bonus, I was very happy with the music before every chapter, so yeah, I couldn't love this book more if I tried. It's one of those stories which stay on your heart forever, and one that I'll revisit time & time again. So seriously, do yourselves a huge solid, and one click Forged by Sacrifice IMMEDIATELY, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

I always feel like my reviews for this author are so inadequate. She has such beautiful words that it’s hard to convey properly how magical her books are. I loved the story of the main characters, but I also loved catching up with old friends from the first book. Mac that usually oozes charm is left stumbling over words anytime Georgie is around. Mac has political ambitions. Georgie has a complicated family. Not a good combination. It’s a political book without being a political book if that makes any sense at all. The author doesn’t push her political beliefs at all. You get to discover that sometimes what you thought you wanted isn’t what you wanted at all. Dreams change. Love is the most important thing. Family doesn’t have to be blood.

This is the fourth book I've read by L.J Evans and it's certainly not going to be the last. Georgie and Mac's story is equal parts heart-wrenching and heart-soaring. Ms. Evans characters are intricately designed and layered. As the story unfolds those layers are peeled back to reveal backstories filled with love, longing, sacrifice, and perseverance. Family plays a huge role in this book, Mac's being a military and political powerhouse and Georgie's being a chaotic mess of criminals and international issues.
Mac has always been cautious with his relationships and how he has represented himself in the world. Yet from the first brief meeting of Georgie, his interest is piqued. With political aspirations, he was always aware something could come back to sully his reputation. His dream to change the direction of our country is both honorable and rose-colored. He leaves his naval career and comrades behind to delve into the political realm and finds most of it is far more tawdry than he ever thought. I thought Ms. Evan's character, Derek, was the most swoon worthy of her men but he's been replaced by Mac. A man, who when he speaks from his heart, is genuinely swoon worthy and romantic. The attraction he feels for Georgie may not be good for a political future but for the reader it is an amazingly romantic journey.
Georgie's childhood was rocked at an early age and for luck her grandmother could be her salvation. Putting her dream of a law career on hold for her grandma, Georgie is back going law school and ends up answering an ad for a roommate placed by Mac's sister, Dani. When all the roommates are under the same roof, sparks and chemistry fly. This story has it all: great lead characters, intriguing secondary characters, a visit to Ava and Eli from the first book in the series, a bit of political corruption, international flare, great families and family drama, as well as chemistry and passion. I heartily recommend this book to anyone who loves to read a well crafted epic love story.

Love comes time different ways. When two people with different lifestyles, with different goals and dreams, find each other at a time when they are headed towards the dreams they have always had, what do they do when their hearts and souls intertwine, but their backgrounds could divide them?

Mac recently left the Military, the Department of Defense, and heads to DC to pursue his dream of going into politics. He wants to make a difference.

Georgie sold the hair salon her grandmother left her in New York, to follow her lifelong dream of going to Law School in DC. Her family is wrought with scandal, but she was raised by her grandmother and has kept herself out of their orbit.

They had met in New York through Eli and Ava, and there was attraction then, but MAC was still in his military training. They meet again at Eli and Avas on a break in the summer before they both head to DC. They are attracted to each other, but when MAC finds out who her family is, he tries to distance himself. His political career may not survive who her family is. Georgie doesn’t want anyone who can’t accept her for who she is, so she stays away from him as much as she can.

In DC, Macs sister, Dani, has found them a new roommate.

MAC can’t stay away from her, he’s too drawn to her, so he leaves early to get to DC. He’s is sailing there, so it will take some time.

In DC, Dani and their new roommate meet and bond, they like each other.

When MAC gets to DC, he finds out the new roommate is Georgie.

What happens when they are living in the same apartment? They learn more about each other and the attraction gets deeper. There are so many things that happen that could affect Macs career.

What will they do? Will they give into the attraction? Will Georgies family situation, and the things they do, affect Macs political aspirations? Or will they finally choose love? Choose each other?

LJ Evans is a master at creating stories and characters that you WANT to know! Every one of her books is such a great read, every character is compelling and one you truly want to know. MAC and Georgie are two of these! LJ is an automatic one-click author, because she is very good at what she does.

Forged by Sacrifice by L.J. Evans is a slow burn, contemporary, forced proximity, military/political romance told in first person, dual POV. It is the second book in the Anchor series, a series of interconnected standalones. It's not necessary to read Guarded Dreams first, although doing so will only serve to enhance the experience when characters reappear.

Mac comes from a powerful political family and has always idealistically dreamed of becoming a politician to change the world. Having just left the Navy and his job with the Department of Defense, he's about to start work with a senator - the first step in pursuit of his political aspirations.

Georgie was raised by her grandmother. Her Ponzi-scheming father is in prison, and her mother, a Russian model banned from entering the U.S., lives in Russia with her husband, a Russian oligarch with questionable business dealings. After putting her dream of becoming a lawyer on hold for several years, Georgie will soon be moving to D.C. and will finally be going back to law school.

When Mac and Georgie first met two years ago, they had an instant spark, but she didn't give him the time of day. Even so, they both thought about each other over the years. When they meet again at their friends' beach house, the electricity between them is still there. Irresistibly drawn to each other, they share an earth-moving kiss.

But when Mac learns about Georgie's family, he knows a relationship would not be good for his political career. He leaves early to avoid Georgie and their mutual attraction and heads home to D.C. where he shares an apartment with his sister and a roommate that will soon move in. As fate would have it, Mac and Georgie are both shocked to learn that they are now roommates. Will they be able to stay away from each other? Read the book to see what happens.

I loved Mac and Georgie's love story! They were wonderful characters that I easily connected with and rooted for. The story explored themes of identity, family, the pursuit of dreams, and that true love is worth fighting for. Beautifully written, emotional, sexy, and full of depth with exciting twists and turns. I highly recommend it!

Mac comes from an affluent family with a pristine reputation who has always known that it was his calling to serve others. He has left his career in the Navy and is now he is ready for the next stage of his life and that is by becoming a politician and ensuring that the rights changes are made to make everyone’s lives better.

Georgie put her plans for the future on hold to be there for the grandmother she loved until she passed away. She is determined to live a much different life than the family she has distanced herself from and that starts with returning to law school.

When Georgie arrives at the house where she will be staying while attending school, she is surprised to find her new roommate is Mac, a man she met two years ago and has never forgotten. There is no denying the chemistry and connection between them but will Mac need to choose between the career he has always wanted and Georgie?

The author has managed to weave a story filled with the perfect combination of emotion, heat, humor and twists that will draw you in and keep you captivated until the very end.

Although this book is a complete standalone, I am glad I read Guarded Dreams first, just because it introduced me to this group of characters! I’ll admit to being hesitant going in, due to the mention of politics in the blurb. Politics today have become so toxic, I’m wary of any ideology creeping into books and becoming preachy. Thankfully, my concerns were totally unfounded in this case! The writing is masterful with so many emotions and twists that brought real tears, by the way, but also plenty of love, passion, and laughter! The heart of this book is about family in all the ways you can create it, and the interactions between all the various characters draw you in and make you want to be part of their group too! There is one character in particular, whose name I won’t write here, that wasn’t mentioned in the list of upcoming books, but I’m hoping and praying this person will get a story some day! Please read this book! You’ll love Mac and Georgie and all their friends!!❤️📚

This is an ARC review. All opinions are solely mine.

WOW!! I’m not sure where to start. I really liked this book. It is actually book 2 of the Anchor series. I had not read book 1 (will be doing that soon) but it did not hinder the plot.

A book with a playlist will catch my eye every time. This playlist was relevant to the plot.

Georgie and Mac have chemistry from the start and it’s a slow burn in this longer book. Georgie could have come across as whiny but instead is strong. Mac is military precision. There were many twists that I didn’t see coming. I felt like maybe there were pieces that were edited out (4th amendment research) that would have been expanded on but it was not crucial to the story. I especially enjoyed his family dynamic as well as his bromances. I think the play on names was brilliant. This is something that many people struggle to reconcile.

I cannot wait to read more from LJ Evans.

I did not notice any formatting or typographical errors.

5 Breathtaking Star

Mac is a gorgeous military man with a heart set to change the world. He loves his family, his country, and his friends with a passion. He is ready to take on a career he chose when he was just 8 years old.

Georgie's life has shown her that everyone leaves you eventually especially family. She's not going to let that stop her from achieving her goals.

A summer vacation with mutual friends set Mac and Georgie's story in motion. A story that seems to be destined  to end before it even begins.

LJ Evans delivers a powerful story of love that will have you laughing, cheering, crying and at some parts--fanning yourself from the heat. Do not miss this 5 star read! It's bound to be one of your fave reads of 2019.

Georgie and Mac are secretly attracted to each other, but neither one is willing to admit it. Mac has been working his whole life toward one goal – politics, so he’s been very careful with his past about who he’s seen with, posting pictures and messages sent. Georgie has learned to deal with the pain and shame of her past. None of the pain or shame is hers, however when it’s family it’s your pain too. Can Mac and Georgie overcome their distance? Will their pasts keep them from a future?

The Anchor series by Ms. Evans is amazing and emotional. I cried during Forged by Sacrifice!!! I can’t wait for the other books in this series!!!

Forged by Sacrifice is a fantastic story! This well written story has a conflict about the struggles of sacrificing one thing for another. I didn’t want to put this book down! This is the second book in the series, the first one being Guarded Dreams, where we first got a little dip into Mac and Georgie.

A military man, determined to bury himself into politics, with the ambition to change the world.
A woman with Russian history, trying to move on from her family’s shameful past, with her sights set on becoming a lawyer.

I loved how author LJ Evans so wonderfully wrote this story. I felt the heartbreak and desires. The flow of the storyline is perfect and the characters are people you can relate to and fall in love with! I cannot wait until the next book is released! I fully recommend this with 5 stars!!!

Love and Sacrifice

by CathyHannah

I love this story of Mac Mac-Maculey Whitaker and Georgie Allestra. Mac was getting out of the navy and going to DC to work with his granddad and sister in the office of Senator Matherton. How does Georgie to be exact her name is Georgia fit into all this. Georgia is Ava's friend and going to be maid of honor in her wedding to her fiance Eli, who is one of Mac's best friends from the Navy. Mac, Truck or Travis, Eli and Nash and Darren were all Navy Seals together. Mac was the person who mapped out what black ops they should and couldn't do. Mac and Ava happen to meet at Eli and Ava's house on their way to DC. They did not know that Daniella, Mac's sister had rented their loft room out to Georgie and so we know what happens. Sparks fly at Ava and Eli's house where they both had gone as guests on their way to DC. Mac took her out on his boat and when he finally kissed her, firecrackers people go off as far they concerned. In fact, Mac said it was the most perfect kiss he ever had. Georgie goes on to DC before Mac because he chooses to takes his boat down to see his Navy buddies Nash and Darren and his wife Tristan who lived in Florida. He was going to visit them on his way to DC to start his new job. When he gets to DC he finds out that the new roommate that Daniella his sister was talking about happened to be his best friends finacee Ava's best friend Georgie. Georgie was in DC to go to Georgetown Law School. Mac had this wonderful family, mother and father and grandfather and grandmother and three sisters, he was the only boy. They loved each other dearly. Georgie had a mother who was Russian and was living in Russia and a stepsister and brother, Rasia and Malik. She had a grandmother who she stayed with after her mother and father divorced and her father went to prison for a Ponzi Scheme. Her mother was sent away after her father went to jail because she was caught with cocanie so they deported her and sent her back to Russia with instructions not to come back to the USA. All this was important to know because their is a lot they have to sacrifice for each for their family. Mac coming from a political family with his father still in the serice and granddad was the Senator's chief of Staff and Paige was one of staffers. She started off in DC as an intern. I have given you a lot of the background just suffice it to say that the story gets interesting when they find out they were living in the same home and they still were attracted to each other. They go through a lot and each one of them trying to convince the other that they could not be with the other. Her because of her family and him because of his family and what they stood for. They were wealthy and into politics. I loved this story and I loved how it ended sorta. I can't wait to read the extened epilogue and all the other stories of their friends in this series. Guarded Dreams is my next story. I guess I should have read that first but if I had not have found this on booksprout to read and review I probably would not know how good this set of series was by LJ Evans. I would recommend this book to you. This book had angst it had drama and it had romance..Very well told story.

Forged by Sacrifice is worth all the 5 stars and more. This is the second book in this series and as a follow up to book one, there is no disappointment. I freaking loved everything about this book, the characters, the story line and writing. I promise you will love this book. It's an inspiring tale that will bring you happiness!!!!

Overall this book brought all the feels one can feel while reading romance novels. Mac and Georige stole my heart with how easy their story flowed and how I instantly became connected to them. When Mac first met Georgie, he became so engrossed with her captivating smile and those eyes, she had him hooked. Georgie was also caught up in the Mac effect as he's know to have a smile that can get him any woman. This is what I saw in my head when these two meet ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

L.J. Evans writing in this book was exceptional. She not only wrote two amazing lead characters with Mac and Georgie, she added some of the best secondary characters, from all of Mac's family members and his friends. I especially loved, loved and I have to say it again, loved his sister, Dani. This girls, is sassy, bold, and honest. Which can sometimes come off harsh but she's the overall surprise in this story.
The build up and chemistry between Mac and Georgie at some points were so antagonizing. I was screaming oh my gosh, just do it damn it, do it, but it was worth all worth it. Once they finally had their first kiss, I was feeling butterflies right along with them. That's how good it was written.

Mac is book boyfriend worthy, this man is what every book boyfriend should consist of. He's charming, loving, respectful, funny, protective and everything he does is swoon worthy. Georgie, eekk she is loyal, honest, sweet, funny and has the best eyes (according to Mac, lol). She has the feels of the girl next door because she's so down to earth and caring.

This books captured the essence of what it means to grow and to accept the changes that life's journey throws at you along the way. It provides comfort for those who are struggling with understanding that sometimes you have to be willing to sacrifice the things you treasure the most, to accomplish what's your true destiny.

Georgie and Mac are a brilliant match.

What I love about this author, is her ability to take a hero and a heroine and strip them down and put them back together in a way, that makes you a better person.

You feel inspired by the characters and the choices that they make, in order to make them grow.

Georgie Astrella, has given up everything that has ever made her happy, just to help others fulfill their dreams.
She gave up law school, when her grandma died to finish out her lease, as a hairdresser.
Now she has sold the business and plans on going back to school to fulfill her dreams.
Her father is in jail for a ponzi scheme, and her mom is Russian and remarried a business man who is involved in arms dealing. Her half-brother is into drug dealing.

Macauculey (Mac) Whittaker, is a former Navy intelligent officer, who has been working towards getting into politics.
His granddad, father and sister, are all involved with it, and he desires to make the world a better place.

Mac and Georgie, have met a few times through mutual friends.
They are drawn to each other, but due to his political ambitions and her families past, not to mention their best friends, being together just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Mac, just can't let her families screw up, prevent them from happiness.
He tells Georgie, "I can't let you go without trying to do everything to make you mine."

Problem is, Georgie, will never put her happiness first.
When a mission goes bad, Mac, must figure out what went wrong.

As their paths drift apart for a short time, they grow in ways, that make them better paired for each other.

A brilliant story of Love hope and Happiness.

I look forward to the rest of this series.

Bravo to LJ Evans for delivering yet another amazing book full of emotion, tenderness and real characters! I’m currently suffering from a major book hangover after finishing Mac and Georgie’s beautiful story.

While this book is a complete standalone, it may help readers to read Guarded Dreams to get some background on Eli and Ava, as well as Truck and some of the other supporting characters in this book.

This is a story about building your own family, loving the family you have and finding your home in another person. I really loved how developed and “real” the characters were in this book. They battled the same fears that we all do when we’re faced with making big choices and big life changes. I also loved their insane chemistry and dialogue. These characters independently make big life decisions, but do so in a way that’s respectful to both their individual character as well as the person they love. They never take each other for granted, and it’s a HEA you’ll just love.

I’m already hooked to this series of standalone and have signed up “Want To Read” on all the books to follow. LJ, you have a fan for life!

Forged by Sacrifice: a contemporary, political romance that blends music into every piece of the narrative.Told in first person, dual pov, second novel in the Anchor series which are interconnected standalones. Character's are first seen in Guarded Dreams, and other characters pop into this novel as supporting character's.

A character driven, inspirational romance that is beautifully arranged with twists swirling through the pages. The writing style is exhilarating and captures your heart and soul. Melded with music, love, passion and laughter.

Character's are compelling with engaging characteristics. Supporting character's bring their own flare & draw you into their tribe.

I absolutely love the political aspect and how it came about as Mac Whittaker transitioning from a military career to a political one. I also loved how Georgie Astrella decided to put her cutting shears away and seek a career in justice and the law.

It appears fate has intervened and brought these two characters back together as true love happens once in a lifetime.

I absolutely adored the text messages between the characters and felt it added a fun way to interact.

Overall, this novel is eloquently scripted and integrated with a topple of sentiments.

Looking forward to reading the next novel in this cutting edge series.

steamy and emotional with a HEA

Mac and Georgie have an instant attraction and their chemistry is off the charts, but this slow-burn love story is so much more than heat. Mac has spent his entire life on a well-planned journey to politics, and is finally ready to pursue that path. Georgie has spent her life putting her own dreams on hold in order to take care of family issues, but now it's her turn to take care of herself. Neither planned on each other - but now that they're thrown together, can they alter their plans to make a relationship between then work?? you'll have to read it to find out!! Mac and Georgie's love story caused me tears - both of laughter and heartbreak, as well as kept me turning the pages to find out what came next for these two. I also loved their friends and family members - most of them, anyway!! This HEA is well deserved, and I'm so excited to read about the rest of the crew!!

LJ Evans had me craving this book for months with her teasers and snippets. She did not disappoint.
We are first introduced to Mac & Georgie in Book 1 of the Anchor Series: Guarded Dreams. Both characters are best friends with Eli & Ava, so naturally their paths cross.
The story of Macauley Whittaker & Georgia Astrella is one of sacrifice, hope, family, friendship and the main ingredient; LOVE.
Mac & Georgie go through a series of “What Ifs” in their relationship. Both having concerns about being together. They come from two different worlds that can damage their future if they pursue this.
Both have a fierce love for their family, friends and country. Most of all, they both will sacrifice for the people they love, including their love for each other. Love always prevail.
LJ is a story-teller! This story had you going through emotions. I felt like I was on a roller-coaster, siding with Mac then with Georgie, then screaming and crying with the characters. I have read all of Ms Evans books and I am never disappointed.

This is my first book by this clearly gifted writer, and it won’t be my last. It drew me in, devastated my heart and then knit it back together, and I’m pretty sure Evans has a new fan for life.

Mac and Georgie meet through mutual friends, Ava and Eli, and get to know each other more when they both visit the couple in Texas. There's no question that the attraction is mutual, but neither is looking for a relationship, especially the long term kind.

When Georgia gets to DC to begin law school, she discovers the brother her new roommate has told her about, and the third resident of the apartment where Georgie will be living, is none other than Mac. This might be fine under normal circumstances, but Georgie's sullied family dynamics aren’t a good mix with Mac's political aspirations, so any lingering attraction they previously walked away from might make the living situation challenging.

Admittedly, I’m not a big fan of political romance, but L.J. won me over with her lyrical style, poetic prose and deep, complex, relatable characters. And oh my heart, I adore Mac and Georgie! They’re both intelligent, strong and driven with hearts of gold.

This story is my favorite kind, one without manufactured angst but external conflict that elicits the reader's empathy, giving her no choice but to devour all the words to find out how these characters who have absconded with her heart will find their forever. Evans does this spectacularly, creating delicious tension and infusing the words with so much emotion it spills off the pages.

If you’re looking for a read that sweeps you away, look no further. It will take you on the very best of emotional rollercoasters and Mac and Georgie will own your heart in no time at all. Music lovers will appreciate the song references, but all readers will adore these authentic, loveable characters, so don’t wait to start reading this phenomenal, heartfelt story!

I love how Mac was willing to do whatever it took for his friends and family, for his country, and to win over Georgie! And how Georgie was able to overcome her family issues...they were both willing to sacrifice so much for those they loved and the beliefs they held! I am eternally grateful for my opportunity to read this advance copy and my rating and opinions are honest and left voluntarily.

I absolutely loved mac and Georgie's story. I was super fortunate to win an arc of forged by sacrifice.
I devoured it in less than a day. Trust me when I say that it is totally worth the wait. Unlike Lj, I can not make words sound elegant and beautiful. She mixes two of my favorite things: music and stories. The songs that describe the chapters and characters are perfect.

I loved this book. It is the second in the series but can be read as a stand alone.
LJ Evans has a way of writing characters that dig into my heart and stay there.
Georgie dreams of becoming a lawyer. Mac has wanted to run for political office since he was eight years old. Can they both follow their dreams if they are together?
What would you sacrifice for someone you love?
I totally recommend this book!

It’s rare for a sequel to not only be just as good as the first book but maybe even better. The characters had such depth to them. Mountains to overcome and choices to make. These two music infused have been some of the best books I’ve ever read and I’m over the moon learning that there will be four more!

Second read updates:
“I felt forever. Forever in one kiss.” Swoon!!
The colored contacts is such a fun part of Georgie’s personality.
These characters and the crazy challenge to even the idea of being together. Ah.
Life is messy and hard and filled with bumps and chasms and bruises. Reality seeps into the dream and you’re left with choices. Stay or go. Love? What happens when running seems to be the way to say “I love you.”

Ahhh, I love Mac! The way that he fell for Georgie was so endearing. A true romantic at heart, it was so difficult for him to deny what he felt. The fact that he knew Georgie was someone special, someone that would be impossible to walk away from if he started something, was so sweetly written and so realistic that I couldn't help but fall in love with him. I loved the way he was so career-minded; that's such an attractive trait for a man to have. I loved that he was so dedicated to a cause. He was also a true gentleman with a heart of gold, always with the right intention, always placing others before himself. I just loved him! L. J. Evans definitely knows how to write good, swoon-worthy, men!

Georgie was also a lovely human and so worthy of Mac's affections. Though she too, had dreams she didn't want derailed by him she couldn't deny her feelings either. The push and pull between these two was a delight to read.

Different backgrounds and different dreams couldn't keep them from crossing paths. The fact that they were continuously thrust into each other's lives proved that they were destined to be together.

This story is intelligent, thoughtful and well-written, romantic and oh so very sexy! The slow, smoldering burn of this story will have you hooked, as will the twists and turns. I highly recommend you read Guarded Dreams first, not because you need to, you can follow this story perfectly fine without it, but just because you should read all of L. J. Evans books! Love her work!

Forever in a kiss….those beautiful words define Mac and Georgie’s story. These two were drawn to each from the moment they laid eyes on each, but they both knew it would not be an easy road for them if they chose to act on their attraction.

Mac dreams of running for office so he has lived his life on the straight and narrow so no skeletons would ever appear when he was in the public eye. Georgie, on the other hand, was born into a family that had a closet full of skeletons and her family’s choices haunted her and influenced the choices she made. Can these two overcome these obstacles to be together?

Mac and Georgie’s story was a slow-burn romance with off the charts chemistry and the political intrigue of DC. This was the first book I’ve read by LJ Evans and it is the 2nd book in a series. I have not read the first book and I didn’t feel like I was missing anything, but it did make me want to read Eli and Ava’s story though.

LJ Evans wrote an emotional story about two people who know what they want, but what happens when what you thought you wanted doesn’t fill your soul? Can your dreams grow and change to include someone you didn’t expect but who feels like forever in that first kiss? I recommend reading this book to find out.

I was provided an ARC of this and any opinions are my own.

The title of this book perfectly describes this beautiful love story.

Georgie and Mac are such a great couple. I absolutely adored how both were so willing to make sacrifices for those around them- even if it came at a great detriment to themselves.

Georgie is finally getting ready to do something for herself when she runs into Mac, who is getting ready to do something he has been bred to do. The chemistry between these two was written in such a powerful way that I could feel it coming off the pages. Being the two selfless people they are, however, they believe it's not meant to be.

But the universe does not agree and I'm so glad it didn't! I was so eager to see how everything unfolded that I read this in almost a single sitting. It was so beautifully written by the fabulous LJ Evans that the emotions were palpable and I was so invested in their happiness. I devoured their love story and I absolutely wanted more. I also adore all of the secondary characters and am so excited to see some of their stories come to life (I'm looking at you, Truck, Dani, and Nash!)

This is one you truly won't want to miss!
