J.A. Huss never wanted to be a writer and she still dreams of that elusive career as an astronaut. She originally went to school to become an equine veterinarian but soon figured out they keep horrible hours and decided to go to grad school instead. That Ph.D wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (and she really sucked at the whole scientist thing), so she dropped out and got a M.S. in forensic toxicology just to get the whole thing over with as soon as possible.

After graduation she got a job with the state of Colorado as their one and only hog farm inspector and spent her days wandering the Eastern Plains shooting the shit with farmers. After a few years of that, she got bored. And since she was a homeschool mom and actually does love science, she decided to write science textbooks and make online classes for other homeschool moms. She wrote more than two hundred of those workbooks and was the number one publisher at the online homeschool store many times, but eventually she covered every science topic she could think of and ran out of shit to say.

So in 2012 she decided to write fiction instead. That year she released her first three books and started a career that would make her a New York Times bestseller and land her on the USA Today Bestseller’s List eighteen times in the next three years. Her books have sold millions of copies all over the world, the audio version of her semi-autobiographical book, Eighteen, was nominated for a Voice Arts Award and an Audie award in 2016 and 2017 respectively, her audiobook Mr. Perfect was nominated for a Voice Arts Award in 2017, and her book, Taking Turns, was nominated for an Audie Award in 2018. Johnathan McClain is her first (and only) writing partner and even though they are worlds apart in just about every way imaginable, it works.

She lives on a ranch in Central Colorado with her family.

Well hello holy hotness..... these books may be quicker, sweeter reads but they still have everything that will grab your attention and pull you in to a world you won't want to leave! This book was freaking AH-MAZE-ING I couldn't put it down, in fact, I finished it within hours I was so intrigued with this Taboo storyline. Aria is the sweet teenage young woman that grabs the attention of one Ryker North.... older man with a desire for younger women. What happens when you crave the one person you shouldn't, the one person you should never touch? You touch and take because there is no other that makes you want, feel and crave that way! This book was sexy, sweet, hot as hell and absolutely PERFECT!

Well hello J.A. Huss!! I thought after Pretty Thing (which made me cry), that Sweet Thing would be.....well sweet. It WAS sweet....but in a totally different way than I expected. If you think you are getting a sweet romance, you have another think coming. Totally Taboo, totally hot, totally steamy and totally my kind of read. Ryker has a few years on Aria, but he likes the young ones...this situation has the ability to go completely sideways and it really does but as always, JA has the ability to draw you into whatever story she writes and these fun, wonderfully dirty stories are doing it for me in a HUGE way.

I was given this ARC as an honest read for an honest review. Let me say again, JA Huss never ever disappoints you!!! I loved Ryder and Aria's story.
Ryder is an older guy in his mid thirties. Aria is just turning eighteen and hasn't graduated from high school yet. Ryder meets Aria when she's filling in for her sister, April. Ryder has no idea how old she is only that he wants one night with her.
When Ryder sees Aria on her birthday things heat up and start changing fast. He can't under the attraction pull she has on him. He can't stay away. They finally decided to see where things go and they are going great in every sense. He's showing her new awakening, until one day her parents walk in just after they get done. Can we say things hit the fans and tempers rise. Can these two overcome age difference, family disapproval, and past history to find there futures?? Read now to find out!!!

Being a huge fan of J.A. Huss' work, I'm totally surprised I didn't like this book. Age-gap, taboo, kinky, sweet (gasps), what's not to love for me?
The storyline didn't bring the edge and the thrill I love, and expect, in a Huss book.
The characters bored me, Aria's innocence, the way she expresses herself and acts had nothing sexy, I definitely can't relate to such a flat personality. Ryker didn't pique my curiosity either. We don't know much about his personality, the main part being he is attracted to young girls, Which seemed downright creepy.
The attraction between them felt wrong, and not in a good way.
I seem to have missed the point of the book. On paper it had everything I could have enjoyed. I own the other books of the series, I need to give them a try, I'm curious....

Sweet Thing was a quick read with a fast paced plot. An insta sort of love with a older man (35) and a younger woman (just turned 18).
Aria is taking over her sister's condo while she is on spring break when she runs into the hot drummer, Ryker. Not only is he a former drummer using a co-op space to play his drums, but he is a successful business man that just so happens to be in business with Aria's father. Seriously, this seems doomed from the get go. But you never know.....
This story was just all right for me. It was told in dual POV from both Aria and Ryker.. I didn't really connect with either of the characters. Aria seemed like a dorky yet sexy, naive yet business-smart woman that didn't know what she wanted, until she did. Perhaps you can see what I'm getting at. Then Ryker is all about just getting in the pants of the "sexy girl next door". But he changes his tune pretty darn fast. And when he does change his mind, he's all in. I have to say, I may have enjoyed him a little more than her, but overall both characters were just ok. Perhaps it was because the story was so fast paced and to the point. It WAS a sexy read with plenty of those type of scenes, so if you're looking for that, you won't be disappointed.
I would give Sweet Thing a 3.5 stars simply because the writing is good and I got the idea of the story well enough, just wish the characters were fleshed out more. Guess with a fast read you don't really get that as much, but I saw the potential there.
This would be perfect for someone that is looking for a quick read that is sweet and HOT with a major dose of age gap romance.

I listened to this book on Audible!
This is a a funny, sweet and very sexy book. Older man younger woman. Such a fun 🎧, in the beginning of the storyline I cracked up at how awkwardly cute Aria was. Ryker, just his name is Hott 🔥 They met at her sisters apartment building. They were attracted to each other, but there were many factors working against them. I really enjoyed this book and the narrators were amazing.
But, Ryker is so special, he’s had it hard! Please read or listen to this book ❤️💗🔥

Oh this was a sweet read. I swooned just a little, then I hugged my teenager and let her know when she goes off to college and comes home with a whole ass grown man I would kill her. Lol.

This book was mid length, too the point, filled with sexy times. It just all worked together and I enjoyed reading it. Try it.

Hot damn. I love a good older man/barely legal girl book and This Is It. Aria is all sweet and innocent with a side of naughty and Ryker is all business during the day and sweaty tattooed bad boy at night. This fun dirty read has a tender side too. What more could you ask for!!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Holy hotness! This book was off the charts smoldering hot and deliciously sexy in every way. What possibly could a 35-year-old man have in common with a 17-year-old, just days away from being 18? When Ryker meets Aria, she tells him a little fib as to her age, but he’s had a taste and now he wants more, even though she’s 17 years younger than him. Aria is sweet, gorgeous, smart and desirable and she doesn’t even realize it and when Ryker makes up his mind, there’s no changing it. Their relationship is the epitome of taboo and I loved it. Ozzy, Ryker’s partner, is not so keen on him dating a “younger” girl, and when he finds out who she is, it could possibly be game over for them and their business. Ryker needs to do right by Aria and takes matters into his own hands and tries to win over her parents, and with all the obstacles, age difference and the fact that they love each other is not going to make this union easy. I was sucked in from the start and gobbled this book up in a day! I loved it and can’t wait to see if we maybe get Ozzy’s story somewhere down the road. Absolutely recommend this book, you won’t be sorry ladies!!

I am totally enjoying these dirty little treats from J.A. Huss with Sweet Thing the latest to titillate me in the very best way! We have one very sexy, tattooed businessman in the 35 year-old Ryker North and the innocent, freshly 18 year-old sweet thing that is Aria Amherst. There is an immediate heat between them right from the start and it's one wild ride going forward. Although Ryker starts off as a bit of a pompous arse with a penchant for young women, Aria's sweetness changes him quickly, wanting to leave his manwhore ways behind. The juxtaposition of her innocence to his worldly ways was intense and yet had a tenderness that was unexpected by both of them.

I loved that Ryker seemingly found his forever when he wasn't looking and treated Aria and her inexperience in a touching way that even surprised him. The added complexity that he was doing business with her father added a complication that clearly set the course for a presumed disaster. Therefore, I wasn't sure they could really make this work, thinking Ryker would just move on after taking what he wanted from Aria. But they have a real burgeoning love that is enhanced by extremely erotic trysts that had me very overheated and happily so.

J.A. Huss has the magic touch when it comes to exploring the taboo side to romance since she manages to make it palatable each and every time. I look forward to more of these arousing good reads, hopeful we hear more from Ozzy and April and gladly give Sweet Thing 4 big stars!

Naughty

Sweet Thing was not sugar and spice and everything nice. No. Uh uh. Nope. It was sugar and spicy and everything naughty.
I mean we’re talking about Ryker, a 35 yo businessman who meets 17 yo Aria (shy of 18 by 2 days but who’s counting, she’s young) and still in high school to boot.

Ryker has a penchant for young women and by young women I mean women in their early 20s, not teenage girls. At first he freaks when he finds out her age...for about a five minutes, lol, but then he pursues, I mean holy moly, he does not put on the breaks. And she goes along in a way that has him going all out. Their relationship was one that my heart going giddy up and the fan going full blast because I had a fever, I kid you not.

Oh, and the EOBS? (End of Book “Stuff”)Looks like I’m going to have to re-read JA Huss’ earlier book, Eighteen. Oh yeah!

I liked learning (from the author at the end) that she wrote this one before 18, though she recognized they are kind of on a continuum—but this one is the rich, happy version of that semi-autobiographical one. I don’t mind age difference tales, but I must admit the age difference was—well—a lot. Hard to suspend disbelief for a teen and a dude in his mid-thirties. 🤢 And the relationship between Aria and her dad needs to win a world-cup barf award. Daddy is waaaaaaaaaay too involved. The ring. The rides. He shouldn’t be surprised that she chose a thinly-veiled daddy/bf.

So: taboo? Yeah. But smoking hot.

This was quick and spicy read. I think this is my first J.A. Huss book and I listened to the audio. This is a large age gap, taboo, and forbidden romance. It was a little crazy how the hero likes to go for younger women. You could feel the age gap in this one.

This was pretty instalust to instalove, but I still had a fun time.

Oh, taboo book...If ya love them, this one is for you! What makes it taboo took me a bit to get past but, once I did I realized the story was well thought out, well played, and well written!

These two characters are a world apart in all things. It was fun watching how the author worked the relationship. It took a lot of learning, a lot of trust, and a lot of patience and understanding. If anything, Ryker took me totally by surprise! Even Aria surprised me with her capacity for learning and being a bit older in her thinking while young at the same time. She is what I was expecting with surprises to her personality that made her a bit more relatable to me.

This book was all the things I've come to expect from this author: sexy, complicated, a bit emotional, and just really well planned and executed.

Sweet Thing Indeed!!

I’m on a whirlwind of a new authors tour lately it seems as JA Huss is another new to me author and I LOVED this 2nd book I’ve read by her. This one was way better than the 1st in the series (the actual book that caught my attention but must read series in order!) and that is totally not the norm! Usually, the following books lose steam but Huss did NOT have that problem…at ALL! This book checked all the boxes: Older yummy naughty Alpha Male, young h just starting to spread her wings😼 and a story to back up the drama and the 🔥! Hands down one of the naughtiest books I’ve recently read and the narrators on the audible portion really helped this out too! I grabbed these 1st two books on audible since it said they were leaving on the 20th and I’ve had several JA Huss books on my audible wish list for almost 2yrs now so figured I’d better check out this author or else! So glad I did! These books get hotter and more drama/passion filled each time! The blurb of this book hit it spot on!
Our H, Ryker is a 35yr old business man in the Real Estate industry that unashamedly started dating way younger women when he turned 30 and owns it. He’s well off, has his head on straight and was only ever looking to have a good time, no relationships!!
Then we have the h, our sweet Aria who was a bit nerdy, moments away from turning 18 and graduating high school, ready to step out of her comfort zone and try new things. She was done being a wall flower and determined to make some lastly memories.
Well folks, this turned out to be an explosive combination! 🥵💦🌶 the things Ryker taught me Uh taught Aria I mean, we’re hot AF! Just yummy times a million! The story took a turn from the obvious to something else and I am here for it!
Overall, this was a great read! This was the one I really wanted to read out of the 2 leaving audible and it was so worth the wait that I’m purchasing it now so I can listen again whenever I want! Christian Fox has a seggy voice, oh my…he’s up there with Troy Duran, Sebastian York and Jacob Morgan, a few of my fav male narrators. He really brought Ryker to another level!! Then a new to me narrator Emma Wilder also brought it! She was slightly “breathier” than I liked at times but now I’m just nitpicking because I will happily read more that she narrates in a heartbeat. Another great read/listen. If you want some heat in your life with a blush in your cheeks? Go grab this!

J.A. Huss brings the heat with a very sexy, hot older man, sweet young girl forbidden romance that is sure to leave readers hot and bothered.

Ryker North is a 35 year old former drummer/real estate developer with a penchant for younger women. Aria Amherst is a high school senior who is getting to play grownup for a month and house-sit for her older sister. When these two meet for the first time, the attraction is instant and smoldering and forbidden and too hard to resist.

These two together come across as a very sweet couple. I kept forgetting that he is almost twice her age. Ryker has always been attracted to younger women, but Aria is by far the youngest he's encountered. Yet she is the one out of anyone he's been with that calls to his heart and soul. So it complicates things when he finds out that she happens to be the daughter of the man his business partner is brokering a deal with.

Julie is a master at writing about a topic that is usually taboo but she writes the story in such a way that has you rooting for the couple all the way through. I wanted to see these two break through the stigma people tend to have when a couple has an age gap like these two do. But Ryker handles the situation like a champ, even though he's the last person on earth who was looking to settle down with one person.

The "firsts" these two experience together are sweet and hot and endearing and had me wishing I could relive all my firsts with someone who was as patient and gentle as Ryker. Julie seamlessly navigates both Ryker and Aria down a path of self-discovery and learning experiences together that I felt made their bond even stronger. Throw in a few twists and turns along the way and we get one steamy, sexy read that is also heartwarming.

I'd love to see a couple of the side characters get stories of their own. I'm excited to see what Julie has in store for us next!

Can i just say I've always been a JA Huss fan, so it saddens me to give this such a lowly review. Always drawn to the older man-younger girl storyline, there's only one book that successfully did it for me and it's not Sweet Thing. I actually put this away and didn't want to continue, but decided (being a Huss book) i should be respectful, give it a second chance and see it all the way through. Truth is, I didn't like the MC, sha raked my every nerve. Yes, i know she's a little girl, but she's also been raised to be more mature than girls her own age. It annoys me when they say "i had sex, i think.. i don't know if I'm still a virgin..,". She begins as poised and classy, prim and proper. Then she has sex (once), more concerned about the fact he came on her breasts than the fact he didn't use a condom. The next day and she's throwing the f- bomb around like it's her name. Class all gone and maturity dissipated. What really got under my skin was when she goes to lunch with Ryker and that sweet and sensible girl we're given the impression of acts like a spoiled little twat. I wanted to jump into the pages and slap the stupid out if her. To bring this to a close, the hot sex was not enough for me to enjoy the storyline. If i want erotica there are so many other books to choose from.

Ryker and Aria... swoon... sweet and 🔥

Oh man how I love this “taboo” series...

Aria meets Ryker when she temporarily replaces her sister’s (April) place during a meeting where Ryker and his partner are trying to get a loan (that she ends up approving). Ryker thinks she’s older than she is (she’s 17 and two days shy of turning 18) so he asks her out to get a drink, she says no, then coffee, she says no, then he bites the bullet and asks to take her home and she says yes (aka code word for sex).

Once they get to “her” apartment (she’s watching her sister’s cat and living there until she gets back), their chemistry is almost combustible... which is when she admits she’s only 17 but will be turning 18 in two days. On her 18th birthday, their connection solidifies and they realize how strong their feelings are for each other. But the reality is that he’s 35, 17 years older, and she has a lot of living to do- plus, having her family’s approval is extremely important and that’s something that they’ll have to work through if they want to continue a relationship.

Oh how I devoured this book. I needed to see how it would end. I alway appreciate Julie’s EOBS because it gives us more insight as to why she writes what she does. I also appreciated how gentle/careful Ryker was with Aria. Loved it.

I get the appeal of ‘taboo’ romance but this was too borderline creepy for me to fully enjoy it. If they had been a little older (like if she was a freshman in college instead of still in high school) it would’ve been more enjoyable IMO. For me it wasn’t even the age gap on its own, but rather the fact that he’s a 35 year old business man and she’s literally *still in high school* He knowingly kissed her and wanted to sleep with her before she turned 18, and her youth and inexperience was a big part of her appeal to him, which feels a little pedophile-y. In the real world, that man was a predator grooming a victim, and once she ages out of his preferred range, he’d be moving on to the next. And I get that books aren’t the real world and there are creative liberties taken to get to the HEA but this was just... icky.

Taboo? Maybe

Sweet Thing is a quirky May-December romance....really early May and late, late December! Innocence, seduction, recriminations, first time experiences, flaunting societal conventions, and lusty taboos are all explored in this entertaining read.

Ryker North has a penchant for sweet young things. Aria Amherst is definitely sweet and barely legal. When Aria turns the tables on Ryker by blowing him off, she sets him back on his heels and has him scrambling. Thus begins a relationship that will most likely blow up in their faces but these two don't shy away from what might happen. Instead they embrace their feelings. It does end well but not without some rocky bumps along the way.

Whoa, had to fan myself after that one. The first half is HOT. The second half is as well, but like the first book, this story takes a right turn in the middle and changes the intensity level. It changes in a way I think makes the end game of the story work better but it is most certainly not the speed it started at. It is like you are on the bullet train across Japan and realize half the country has passed and you didn't notice so you hop off and try a car instead.

Though honestly I valued Ryker more for his change in pace even though what he was doing at the start was panty melting.

I never thought myself a prude, but this was too much for me. Thirty five year old man seducing a 18 year old teen on her birthday, made the main male character seems like a stalker and a creep. I had to stop reading. It was well written, but no - too much for me.

OMG...Ya Gotta Grab this one! Ryker is def my newest hottest BBF! Just how do you do this to me Julie?

It is no surprise, I Love J.A. Huss! She never disappoints me...but this book oh this book!
Its way different from her more usual style of dark sexy romance with the mysterious kick you in the gut with the whole what the hell just happened? Nope this one has that barely taboo touch and its so very HOT!!! RYKER, I couldn't get enough of, I need more so much more. I couldn't put it down from start to finish, its a fast flowing read as well! Its a stand alone and the second in the shorter books first Pretty Thing an now we have Sweet Thing, and we will have another book added in a couple of weeks.

Ryker is a Hot Bad Boy turned successful business man with his best friend from college, they are in the process of turning a new hot part of town into an even better hip place to Live, give it a face lift to bring more to the new edgy side of town. Kicker Ryker has to get an office in at Artsy place called the Co-Op were he will be his past bad boy self as the drummer he once was, he can pull this off right? He scratches his jaw and thinks I hate being told NO! They need this place to help them get an edge in, and to get to know the people in the business that is booming.

First to me Aria is a breath of fresh air from SO many young girly girls, I truly liked her but I didn't truly dig her name right off and I don't know if I was saying it exactly right but I said it how I imagined it rolling out of his HOT AS Hell mouth, Yeah you get it right? I think Ryker is Hot as HELL, Smokin, Yummy and Older, and So Smart!
Aria is a really smart and a good girl, she's a bit sheltered and totally nerdy. Its right before her 18th Birthday and she is going to house sit for her sister for a month during her Spring break. Her first night she has to sit in on a board meeting for her older sister at the Co-Op. Her pretty, hip and popular sister has her photography studio in. She agrees because she has two things she promised her sister she would be responsible an do while she house sits, this and take care of her cat and she has listened in on her dads board meetings at his office all the time so it should be easy for a 17 yr old right?

This book has so much heart, and it is a twister, its got a charm, character and all the feels, just like I love because I wanna feel the books I read, I wanna feel the raw emotions, the heartbeats banging in the chest, the hair pulling frustrations, and for sure that HOT SEX and this one is never tacky or over done its just right, well its got so much Sweetness to it that "Torture is a Sweet, Sweet Thing" or is it?
I do love the sweet souls of both of these characters. But Ryker, man oh man he is a Sweet Thing all in his own, and why I love that so much is Because he doesn't even realize it. So to me "HE is the Sweet Thing" sorry Julie Huss lol
If you like a great romance with just a tiny hint of taboo, some good hot sex, then this book is for you! Don't miss out on this fast read. One of my fav tropes (May/December Romance) + one of the best authors = epicness!

Aria (17 yrs) is so eager to grow up and be an adult, that when she gets the chance to cat sit for her sister and fill in for her, she jumps at it. Thinking she is ready, she dresses up and steps into her sister's shoes . . . and right into Ryker's hands.

Real Estate developer and drummer Ryker (35 yrs) with a darker past, has big plans and getting into the Co-Op space would help him out dramatically but one look at Aria and he is obsessed.

Especially when he finds out she is legal in 2 days.

Get ready for some sexiness with a bunch of twists, some very immature moments, sooo much swooning and of course, a HEA.
You know, everything you come to expect from Julie.

Naughty is right!

This is :Sweet Thing, book 2 of Naughty Things series written by JA Huss. Ariel is almost 18 and ready to live her life the way she chooses. It just so happens that who she wants is Ryker North, the hot AF new business partner of her Dad. Yep. That’s right. Ryker North likes the girls to be young but is Arie too far for even him? This book is hot and dirty and I enjoyed reading it!
