Holding Out For Harper

Harper Brown is a snarky pain in Sebastian Hasting's ass.

Then pictures of their one hot kiss leak to the gossip mags, and Sebastian has a brilliant idea.

What better way to get the gold diggers off his back than to take himself off the market?

It’s the perfect solution.

Except as things with Harper heat up, it becomes harder for Sebastian to remind himself that she’s only playing his fiancé for the money.

He’s a man who always gets what he wants. But is Harper more than he bargained for?

Holding off for Harper is book 2 and it is amazing. Sebastian and Harper’s story is an amazing one. Sebastian has asked Harper for a fake marriage and unbeknownst to him she is using it to help recover the money that has been stole from her so they where both using the fake marriage to their advantage. But will things take a turn for the worse and something horrible happen will they fall in love with each other? I definitely recommend reading this book. Make sure to one click. This is book 2 but can be read as a stand-alone.

I absolutely devoured this book! Once I started reading I could not put it down! Read it in a few hours!

I am having trouble putting into words how much I loved this book!
I love when books pull me in and don't let go. This is what Gabrielle Ashton has done with this book. I was grabbed from the very first page until the very last page. I became invested in Harper and Sebastian.

I loved Harper and Sebastian's chemistry, their banter and teasing. I was grinning like a fool reading this.

I 100 percent recommend reading this. You will definitely not regret it! Gabrielle Ashton is definitely an author I will continue to read.

My favorite part of this book was Harper and Sebastian’s snarky banter and that their friends and family could see what they didn’t! Lots of laughs some tears and a bit of suspense perfectly placed through this one. I absolutely enjoyed Holding Out for Harper and can’t wait to see what Gabrielle Ashton creates next. Must read!!

Love love LOVED this book!!!
Sebastian was so hot 🔥🔥🔥 And the love between him and Harper was beautiful
It took a while for them to get there but when they did - boy, that was fun! There were also a few twists and turns I didn't expect, which kept me on my toes the whole book. I read it in one sitting.
A swoony, steamy, five star read

Gabrielle Ashton has done it again! Not only has she delivered another gorgeous cover (hi, I’m Ari and I’m a cover whore), but she’s also delivered another unputdownably fantastic story I couldn’t help but devour.

I loved, loved, LOVED Holding Out for Harper! This was Sebastian and Harper’s story who we previously met Holding Out for Paris. Sebastian Hastings is all the delicious hero things! He’s grumpy and yummy and not looking for love and did I mention yummy? Harper is his brother’s sexy af and infuriatingly sassy assistant. Unlike most women Harper isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with the sexy billionaire and tell him how it is. So after a picture of them accidentally locking lips is leaked to the tabloids Sebastian comes up with an idea to pay Harper to be his pretend fiancé. They hate each other right? So what could possibly go wrong? So much and when does go wrong it’s oh so right!

Gah, Gabrielle Ashton seriously turned it up a notch with HOFH! This story had two of my favorite tropes combined: fake relationship and enemies to lovers. I was in HEAVEN! Sebastian and Harper’s back and forth banter was the best! It was good to see Sebastian be put in his place and not know what to make of of strong and sexy Harper. She was a total sweetheart in my book! Hardworking, driven, and took no BS from Sebastian. I just loved the chemistry and delicious sexual tension between the two, but mostly I loved watching them slowly give into one another and their obvious feelings.

If you’re a fan of sexy, steamy, enemies-to-lovers/fake-relationship romances with great banter and writing to get lost in then you’ll be in heaven with Holding Out for Harper. READ THIS, but I’m totally claiming Sebastian as mine! 5 stars.

** I HAD BEEN GIVEN AN ADVANCE READERS COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW **

I am not sure if you can classify this as a enemies to lovers tale or a friends to lovers tale, but I am sure that you will love it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

The Chemistry between Sebastian and Harper can be felt sizzling from the pages are you read them.

I just finished reading this book and I floved it. Sebastian Hadtin g is an ass at first that’s like catnip to me. He’s a billionaire, so he’s cocky but man can that man be sweet. Harper she’s strong and seeet and their banter was adorable. This story was entertaining with a bit of adventure. I am patiently waiting for the sixth book so you bet I will be reading the rest of her books.

No holding back

This is an enemies to lovers book, which is my favorite trope. I loved this book. The angst was well written and the storyline had a twist that was just right to make this stand out as one of my top favs for this trope. The characters are fun and supporting one's as well. I laughed out loud at the verbal back and forth and enjoyed the steamy chemistry too. Looking forward to more

So, I think I like this one even better than the first book in the series. I totally love that Sebastian!

Harper has been working for Sebastian's brother for 3 years and is not happy when she has to fill in for Sebastian's executive assistant during her holiday. Sebastian and Harper always have this snarky relationship. When Harper finds her fiancé Chad has been stealing her money, she is quite upset. Due to circumstances the press reveals Sebastian has proposed to Harper and he is willing to pay Harper to keep up the pretense for reasons. Soon Harper moves in with Sebastian and their temporary engagement seems to get quite real. Their chemistry is real.

I must have read this book in a couple of hours. Don't care that Sebastian is sometimes arrogant and spends his money carelessly. I love this couple together and devoured the book.

On to the next!

I received a review copy of this book before release for an honest review.

This is book 2 in the series but I have only read this story. It easily stands alone. It stars Sebastien, a very rich man and his employee, Harper. Harper needs money because her ex stole some money from her and Seb thinks it will keep all the gold diggers away from him. So the two become engaged and even end up living together.

That's when they start to fall for the other but the ex is still after Harper and will Seb save her?

I kinda hated the first part of the story. I did not like reading about all the exes and how Seb treats them and Harper. These two hate each other but something happens as they become roomies, they start falling for the other. And that was my favorite part of this book. Seriously LOVED that Seb and Harper.

Unfortunately Seb is an idiot and the ex manages to get in the way and that's when he becomes a jerk again and I kinda hated him again. But then he turns things around and I fell for him again.

The writing was pretty good. At times I loved and hated Seb and that's pretty much how Harper felt as well. I felt she needed to be less forgiving of him but beyond that I enjoyed this story a lot.

Once I read the first book in this series I knew I would love the rest of them and of course I was right! Gabrielle knows how to make a story great!

Sebastian and Harper were the perfect couple! I love a fake relationship that turns into love! What was even better was the angst and sexual tension they had at work. Being his assistant for a few days and having to put up with Sebastian was Harpers kryptonite! I loved how much banter they had with each other and how well they match!

I loved how sweet this book was and the kidnapping was a OMG moment that I was so thankful wasn’t a cliffhanger.

Gabrielle, you honestly know how to write a great romance book! Can’t wait to dive into Holding Out For Hope 😍

Holding Out For Harper was every bit as gripping as the previous book in this series. I wanted to know More about Sebastian as soon as he was mentioned. I was anxiously anticipating his book and gosh, how I loved him.

Harper is the executive assistant to Josh, Sebastian’s brother, and is currently filling in for Sebastian’s assistant who is away. It is a job she didn’t want to do but had no choice in the matte. She has an intense dislike towards Sebastian and it has been going on for years. They simply do not get along. Although she finds him extremely attractive (and she secretly lust for him), his personality is severely lacking.

Harper is in a bind and surprisingly Sebastian comes to the rescue in more ways than one but it comes with a price. She has to be his fake fiancé for a stipulated time and return she will get paid handsomely. Harper thinks this plan is unbelievable at best because people know how much they dislike each other but after a kiss that gets released, people believe their bickering to be something else. Playing pretend does not come naturally to Harper but as time goes on, the line is blurring and the sexual tension between them is rampant which indicates that one of them is about to break.

I like Harper’s character. As I mentioned before that Harper was attracted to Sebastian and she was from the first time she met him, she didn’t pine over him. She had relationships over the years. This isn’t a story where the guy only gets to be with other women while the heroine remains celibate (I hate books like that). Although Sebastian may come across as a snob, manwhore and a douche, I liked him but I wanted more groveling from him.

Gabrielle Ashton has become a favorite author of mine. I’m so looking forward to her future releases and officially meeting the rest of the protagonists from the Holding Out Series.

I couldn’t wait to get to this book, Sebastian had me at the previous mention in Holding out for Paris with his swoony description and sense of love and duty for his sister Mizzie.
Who wouldn’t want this Batchelor Billionaire in their life.
He meets his match in Harper “ secretary /assistant” to his brother Josh who comes across to help him when Sebastian requires a temporary Secretary, hence Harper.
The relationship between these two from the get go is firery verbal and the sexual tension runs deep without each one “ admitting” it to themselves.
Spencer manages to manipulate Harper into a fake Fiancé scam with helps her out of the mess she finds herself into, when she realises the money he is offering will help. Sebastian does not know about her crisis. I love how Harper doesn’t fall at our heroes every beck & call and I lived how Spencer realises the fake engagement is changing.
I also love a POV from both sides and Gabrielle gives this. Once again characters and. Faint hint at a storyline is suggested which plants the seed of intrigue.
Set in the City on my bucket list NY thus ticked all my boxes, NY, boss/ secretary, fake engagement, angst office sex ( shame it wasn’t against the window with Manhattan sprawled our below) The romancing that only a Billionaire like Sebastian can provide and a little bit of drama thrown in. Also slight mention of storyline’s and characters to come, but one mentioned that made me swoon a little was the Hot Russian bodyguard ( here’s a hint Gabrielle I would read this lol)
4 🌟 Read I lived it keep them coming 🥰 B

Holding our for Harper is as addictive as its predecessor!

Meet again with Sebastian (Lizzy's brother) and read as he pretend to be engaged to his assistant/frenemy Harper to lure the women away. Yes, because that cocky billionaire/Mr. too sexy for his own shirt has a head as big as his...bank account of course :)
Against, her will, Harper will accept his generous offer, in the hope of erasing a stupid past mistake, which spoiler alert, involved an ex-boyfriend named Chad. *shudders*

As it turned out, their pretending will only last until the truth (of their feelings and something else...) will break out to the open, all 4th of July style.

With funny and witty bantering, romantic dates and sensual escapades this is a refreshing enemies to lovers story. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last page. A major plot twist towards the end of the story took me aback BUT ABOVE ALL, it made me think that I'd stepped into another story. Like...what the fresh hell is this? O.O

If you're curious about what made me go cray cray, just read the book already!!

In Ashton's second novel, we meet Harper, who works for Joshua. But right now, she's needed to work over with his brother Sebastian. The problem? Neither of them like each other and the level of snark skyrockets with her working so closely with him. Thankfully it's only until his assistant gets back from her vacation.

Only Sebastian gets the idea that he could pay Harper to pretend to be his fiance. It would keep the women and his family off his back, he's known for being a playboy. Harper doesn't want to do this, she still can't stand him, but unfortunately, something has happened and she really needs the money. What ensues is what happens when two people who have an obvious attraction continue to try and fight it.

So Sebastian wasn't my most favorite guy, he really was a bit of a jerk and said some inappropriate things at the most inopportune times. Other times he would be angry and lash out, he seemed a bit uppity with his expensive tastes. Harper was hardworking, funny, and level headed and she was exactly what he needed in his life to bring him back down to earth. The more he spent time with Harper, the easier he was to handle. I even grew to like him at the start of their fake relationship.

The chemistry between them was *scorching* hot, Ashton writes super sexy scenes. Her stories are well-written with wonderful characters who are full of personality. To be able to write a character that readers dislike, but then have him grow and evolve into someone likable is a gift. Enemies to lovers is a really fun trope and Ashton has done it well.

This is the second book in the Holding Out Series and my second read of Gabrielle’s.

Sebastian is your typical businessman/rich boss. Very handsome and cocky to boot. He knows he could have any woman he wanted and he has! All but the one who works for him. Well used too and is now his brothers assistant. He knew the moment he saw Harper that she was going to be a distraction for him. He also knew he couldn’t act on those feelings he had for her. But when he needed a way to keep gold diggers from his life, she might be what he needs after all.

Harper was a hard worker. She loved her job except for one person. Sebastian Hastings! He hated that man from the time she heard him having a conversation about her to his brother, who is her boss now. Every time he would talk or tease her she would throw it right back at him. But when a mistake comes down on her she has nowhere else to turn but to the man she hates. Can she work with him on this deal he has came up with?

I loved everything about this book. The relationship between Seb and Harper was amazing!!

3.5* I'm not rating this book because I don't want to round up or down.

This is an enemies to lovers trope. Wealthy Sebastian constantly butts heads with his brother's snarky executive assistant, but they're each hiding an attraction for the other. When Sebastian needs a fake fiancee and Harper needs money, Sebastian hires her to pose as his fiancee. Over the course of the charade they fall for each other, until a grave misunderstanding has tragic consequences. Can they have a happy ending?

I loved Holding Out For Paris and Lizzie and Spencer from that book. I was disappointed with this book. I didn't like the main characters. They were too nasty to each other and I didn't see them fall in love. Still, the story kept me reading. And the dark moment brought me to tears.

The story is written about the US in Australian English, which is unintentionally jarring at times.

The enemies to lovers and fake romance tropes really worked for Sebastian and Harper in the second book in the Holding Out series by Gabrielle Ashton.

There were many things I loved about this story.
*Snarky Harper
*Family (both the Hastings crew and Harper's grandma)
*The evolution to love
*Sexy time

While I thought Sebastian was a bit arrogant and over the top (maybe you can be when you are a billionaire), I did like the softer side that Ashton started showing us when Sebastian realized he was really falling for Harper. He was heartless at times, but thankfully that softer side won out!

I listened to the audiobook and while I didn't love the narration, I would give each narrator another try if the opportunity arose.

Note: I received a review copy of this title courtesy of the audiobook publisher, Tantor.

Harper Brown and Sebastian Hastings have had a contentious relationship since... forever. Sebastian even had Harper moved from his assistant to working with his brother Josh so that they wouldn't have to interact every day. But now there's been a series of events that have happened at the same time that mean that Harper and Sebastian have signed papers to pretend to be in a relationship for the next six months.
This is a romance so, of course, they also fall in love. And the whole relationship part of the story was quite cute. I just didn't like the OTT drama at the end; I don't mind that kind of drama in stories but build up to it.

So much sass

This tale is quite entertaining and I loved it. The old line that "there is a thin line between love and hate," applies here. They are both witty and sarcastic. She loves to hate him and he lives to push her buttons. It is very much a enemy to lovers story. It'll have you laughing and balking at the antics.
