“Sometimes all you need is a second chance.”

Cole Haywood is FIRE! Not only is he a Fireman, but this man could light up any woman’s world. I was mesmerized and I didn’t realize how much I missed finding new book boyfriends ;)

Love, Again was the perfect book to get me back into reading romance. I was in a rut with romance novels for a bit just finding them all the same, but Aubrey and Cole dug me out. I loved their personalities. Aubrey was the perfect combination of sweet and funny. My most favorite aspect of her though was how she never let her fame get to her head, she was so down to earth!

Cole had the total rugged and stubborn cowboy thing going on and I loved it. The secondary characters in Love, Again shined just as bright and I found myself bonding with majority of the characters which is always a good thing.

Heartwarming, emotional and fun, those are the words I would use to describe Love, Again and I’m wondering why I have not read a book by Dover before because she writes everything I need in a romance. I know I will be reading more from her from now on!

If you are a fan of second chance romances like I am then don’t hesitate to pick this one up because I guarantee you will love it! Plus it has cowboys and firefighter’s in it and I really don’t know what could be better than that! Defiantly give it a shot my romance lover’s! :)

Aubrey was a good balance of serious yet funny, with a sweet down to earth personality I liked. However, Cole was about the same. He was also serious and funny, but I did think his adrenaline rush proclivities was a cute aspect of his personality.

But their personalities were also why I struggled.

I didn’t necessarily need or want OTT drama, but something more then easy acceptance? Um, yeah! Maybe I’m weird, but these two reminded me of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich-solid and sweet, but bland. They reverted back to how they were before they split up with minimal...actually no real fuss. I kept expecting something to happen! If I were Cole, I would have needed a therapist for anger issues over being dumped the way he was!

I liked the book...and I didn’t like the book. I liked Aubrey and Cole, but found them to be...meh. They did and said all the right things, but it came across like a habit, not true feelings. I just wasn’t invested enough for their HEA. Frankly, Aubrey’s bestie Emilia, and Cole’s brother Bennett captured my attention because they stood out more with their passionate personalities and budding romance in a way the main characters lacked.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Aubrey gave up everything to pursue her dream job. That was 10 years ago and she has never looked back. She is a bit of a celebrity now, having her pick of jobs and living a life she never thought possible. When she receives startling news from her doctor it causes her to do a bit of soul searching.

Aubrey really only has one regret, walking away from the man she loved. It was the hardest thing she has ever done but necessary. To be honest, she still loves Cole but she never wanted him to make a choice that would just bring unhappiness and discontent. She really hope he has that now though.

There is nothing like a bit of bad news to make you realise your own mortality. Aubrey puts together a bit of a bucket of things and places she wants to see/do and boards a plane. Wanderlust is now the only thing dictating her diary and she is enjoying every moment of it.

A stop in Oklahoma was not really on her list but something is pulling her back to her old hometown. She is assaulted with so many memories as soon as sees her old family home. Wonderful memories though. Not much has changed since she left but she loves being back in Dusty Valley.

The only thing Aubrey is cautious about is seeing Cole again, she knows it’s unavoidable. She really hopes he is happy but it will also be hard to see him that way with another woman. Turns out he is pretty happy but single. Well he was happy until he lays eyes on Aubrey. It has taken him so long to get over the girl that left him heart broken and to be honest, he has never really gotten over her.

There may be anger & hurt at first but that is projecting out of Cole from the depth of love he still has for Aubrey. He can’t believe she is standing in front of him. Everything he felt back then comes flooding back, overwhelming both of them. It’s like no time has passed by at all.

As these two begin to reconnect it is startlingly obvious how much they truly do love each other. Aubrey knows that this man is her future and no one else has ever come close to what she has with Cole. However, their lives could not be more different now. She has a life in Hollywood and he is a small town guy through and through. His loves his family and they all live in Dusty Valley. There is now way she can make him choose. You know what they say though? You can take a girl out of the country but you can take the country out of the girl…

This was a fun weekend read for me. Very little angst/drama but plenty of sweetness!

I was a little nervous about reading this one, as it was a new author to me in a trope that I don’t usually like. But, I had absolutely no reason to be nervous at all. This book was seriously the sweetest. It gave me all the feelings.

The book starts us out by introducing us to Aubrey as a female director in Hollywood at the top of her game. I already knew I was going to love her character from the beginning. She’s strong, smart, independent and a truly likable character. She receives some medical results that causes her to put her life in perspective. She decides to set off on a bucket list trip to do all the things she’s ever wanted to do. One thing that keeps coming up is her regret over leaving her first love, Cole. Thus begins the second chance romance trope, which admittedly I’m not usually a huge fan of, but this couple and this situation worked out phenomenally with this trope. I loved these two characters as individuals and especially as a couple. The supporting characters all had great character development. I adored Bennett and Emilia! My favorite part of the book was all the traveling and checking off items on the bucket list. I've got to check a few of those things off on my bucket list!

If you didn’t already guess, I highly recommend this second chance romance!

I am not sure what it was about this title, but I was never really able to feel invested in it.

Aubrey and Cole were together 10 years ago and, after an upsetting mistake that lets her think she has weeks to live (this is in the blurb) she decides that it is time to make amends, to right some wrongs of her past, and to go back and get the man she loves.

But, for me, the pacing of this was off. The beginning was quick, which was fine. But, even though this was an insta-love, it seemed like both of them were willing to ignore the hurt, and the reasons that they split, and move into an instant relationship.

I wanted more. I wanted to see them work it out, and to see them resolve their anger at one another...but it essentially just fell away at first sight, and, well, that made the rest of the story difficult for me to engage with.

While I did finish the book, I wanted more depth and thought the focus on the bucket list pulled away from the central story.

Imagine the doctor telling you that you have a very terrible disease and probably won't make it and then having them tell you that there was a mistake! I can't imagine how scary and helpless you feel. After something like that, you can't just go back to life as normal. So our main character, Aubrey doesn't!

Aubrey grew up in a small town, but is now living her dream as a successful director in Hollywood. That was always her dream and she's living the life now that she has it. Once she hears she may be dying only to find out that she isn't, it opens her eyes! There are things in life she would love to see and the man she left behind ten years ago won't leave her mind.

I loved Aubrey. She's so down to earth. Even though she's famous and has more money than she knows what to do with, she's still Aubrey. The only thing she regrets is leaving the love of her life so many years ago. I loved reading about her visiting places she always wanted to see though. After hearing she didn't have much life left to live, she definitely wasn't going to take that for granted again.

Of course, while visting everything, she can't get Cole off her mind. It really is time for her to go back to Oklahoma and face what she left behind. Cole is really your boy next door. He is a firefighter, helps on his father's farm and is on his way to becoming chief.

Cole is another character I loved. He loves his small town and he's a family man. While many men would just blame the other for leaving, Cole regrets not going after Aubrey. There's never been anyone since she left. It's always been her.

Even though I'm a big fan of second chance romances, it almost went a bit too easy in this story. Aubrey comes home and it's just accepted. Cole is mad for a day like it seems and then all is well again. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have a romance not run by drama, but I would've liked to have seen more of a fight. I know Aubrey had her reasons, but she up and left him and it's like she came back and everything is fine.

That being said, I did like seeing Aubrey and Cole reconnect. I loved them spending time together. They had a lot of fun together and visited places that sounded like a lot of fun. They're a cute couple and it's clear that they're meant to be together.

On top of a sweet romance, there are other amazing characters. I loved Emilia and Bennett (I really hope they're going to get a book, haha). I am a sucker for small towns and Dusty Valley sounds like a place I would love to live!

This is a second chance love story and oh my did it have me hooked right from the beginning! Aubrey is a Hollywood director, and a very successful one at that, and this story starts off with her looking for her keys while suffering from a hangover. She doesn't often imbibe but the night before she had celebrated with her friend but now she needs to get out the door to a meeting for a new movie. Just as she is about to leave the house she gets a call that changes everything. Her doctor gives her the news she may not have long to live. She was frozen in shock until her friend Emilia and her doctor come over to let her know there was a mistake and the blood tests were not hers and she is fine. Okay, this is a wake up call that changes everything. Bags are packed, a bucket list is made and she is off on an adventure to places she has always wanted to go and to see things she has only read about. Along the way she is plagued by the realization she needs to go home. Ten years ago she broke her engagement a month before the wedding and didn't look back and has never been back. Sure, she has looked back plenty but never contacted anyone. It turns out she rolls into town and her childhood home looks better than it did when she was growing up and showing up at the diner was as blast from the past and open arms are waiting for her. Later that night she runs into the only man she has ever loved and the one she left. She is met with anger, as expected, but after he calms down he seeks her out the next day. Oh, you have to read this one. This not only the story of forgiveness but it is a reaffirmation that it is never too late to go back. I highly recommend this one!

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Aubrey Reynolds is living her dream, she is an award winning Hollywood director but when she gets bad news from her doctor, her world gets turned upside down. When she learns the results were wrong, she still decides to do some things she has always wanted to do, like go to a zoo in Washington, eat the chocolate chip cookies at the Minnesota State Fair, eat Pickle soup in St. Louis, and the one thing she can't stop thinking about is going back home to make thing right with the only man she every love.
Cole Haywood was her best friend, boyfriend and the man she was about to marry before she left him to follow her dreams. While Cole has lived in the same small town his whole life, worked on the family farm and worked at the local fire station since he was able. He can't believe that she is back after all these years. Can he forgive her and they move on?
Will they be able to make a relationship together work or is the pain too deep? If they can't repair the damage, can they remain friends? Can they travel together and be able to forgive each other?
Will there be a chance for them to finally have a future?
I love a second chance romance and this one is great. L.P. Dover had a way of bringing these to people back together with their friends and families that made the story even better to me. If you haven't read this author before, this one is a good start.

Love, Again was a cute second chance love story between Aubrey and Cole. L.P. Dover writes a simple and sweet story about true love being given another round at happiness. I honestly thought the story could have been stretched out a little more and that there should have been a bit more resistance on Cole's behalf to take back Aubrey. I thought a lot of things were rushed and would have liked the story to go at a slower pace. Things were just too perfect for Aubrey and Cole in their second chance at love and for me personally i like when the main characters have to fight for the one they love, i like when there is a question of will they or wont they? I want things to be rocky before we have our HEA.

There were some great scenes in here, I loved when Cole joins Aubrey on her Bucket list trips and the Epilogue was truly adorable. I really like L.P. Dover as a writer, some of my favorite stories by her are "Going for the Hole" and "It Must've been the Mistletoe". I would have wished that Love, Again would have had the same essence as these two previous books did, I will still be looking forward to see what else L.P. Dover has in store for us.

It's a sweet story.
Not too much angst, after the initial outburst when they first reconnect then things are sorted.
During separation both have dated though nothing serious and not a lot.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.

This was a second chance love story. Years ago Aubrey and Cole were in love, they had been high school sweet hearts and they thought they would marry, the whole town thought it. Aubrey loses her parents and decides to make a life change leaving behind her home town and the love of her life. Thinking she is dying for about a couple of hours due to some misinformation she decides that she wants to change her life again and sets out to make out a bucket list and fulfill it and on there she wants to see and apologize to Cole. Cole was not very happy to see her, again for about a couple of hours than they pick up where they left off since both of them were single and had never gotten over each other..It was a syrupy sweet romance.

Aubrey is living the life she’s always dreamed of. She left her small town in Oklahoma to become a movie director in none other than Hollywood. And now Aubrey has it made—or so she thinks. After a near-death experience, Aubrey quickly reevaluates her life. If she were to die tomorrow, she’d leave this life full of regret, especially in regard to the one that got away—Cole Haywood. So Aubrey makes a bucket list of all the things she wants to do in her lifetime, all the places she hasn’t been to because she’s been tied down to her life-consuming job. And along the way, Aubrey wants to make a new friends in each place she visits. But her bucket list wouldn’t be complete if she revisited her hometown and confronted her biggest regret—leaving Cole behind.

Cole still lives in his hometown, working as a firefighter and helping the family business. When his fiancé Aubrey left him a month before their wedding over 10 years ago to chase her big-city dreams, Cole was heartbroken. He thought he had moved on from Audrey, but when she randomly shows back up in town, he realizes his heart is still hung up on her. She’s full of apologies and regrets, but Cole isn’t sure he’s capable of forgiving Aubrey for abandoning him all those years ago.

But the more time Cole and Aubrey spend together, the more the past decade fades into the background and the love they once shared comes back in an instant. They want to make it work this time, but Aubrey has her life back in Hollywood and Cole is settled in Oklahoma. Cole and Aubrey are at a crossroads and if they don’t approach carefully, they could make the same mistake twice...

Love, Again by L.P. Dover is a second chance romance between childhood sweethearts, Cole and Aubrey, with a bucket list element. This was the first book by L.P. Dover I’ve read and overall I’m underwhelmed. The premise of the story is cute—Aubrey thinks she’s going to die, discovers she isn’t, and wins back the fiancé she left ten years prior. Unfortunately, the book was lacking, despite the promising plot line. It was predictable, but not in the way I enjoy. I wish the characters were built up more in the beginning and their previous romance was more flushed out. I feel this story would’ve benefited well from a dual timeline or flashbacks to when they were together the first time. Also, Aubrey didn’t seem mature enough to be a highly-esteemed movie director for the last decade. She was introduced as such in the beginning, but nothing in the story represented her career accurately. Overall, a quick, cute story, but it didn’t wow me. 3/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, Loveswept and L.P. Dover for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

3.5*s rounded up to 4*

I really enjoy L.P. Dover's stories, and always choose to read them, because the storylines are good - and this is no different. However, I do have to admit that sometimes the amount of telling rather than revealing can annoy me. There is a lot of scene setting, which I often feel could have been revealed within the story. As I say, overall I enjoy the stories, but sometimes have to get over the world building phase knowing it will be worth it once things get going. I say this in case you start and feel as I do. My advice is to continue, and you should not be disappointed.

I enjoyed the fact that the successful director who left town was the female lead, and that the male lead had stayed at home to help out at his family's ranch. She was therefore wealthier, more likely to continue to be so and in a usual storyline these facts would have most definitely been reversed.

Aubrey's brush with the possibility of death was the perfect way to give her the chance of setting her affairs in order, in the broadest sense, and sets her on a journey. This starts as one of exploring long desired locations, but soon changes to affairs of the heart, sending her back to her home town. As she and Cole remember their past, they finally get to talk about what happened, and why ... and more importantly what might happen next.

After the dramatic start (the lesson being never, ever get a diagnosis over the phone!) the story wends its way through a sweet childhood and sorts out what really are one's priorities in life. I might point out that this is true for Cole as well as Aubrey!

The only other book I’ve read from this author was a novella that was part of a Christmas anthology. Based on that book and this one I can say L.P. Dover creates very likable characters.

In this second chance romance Aubrey, famous Hollywood director, gets a wake up call in the midst of her successful career that leaves her wondering about her choices and the important things in life. So she puts her career on hold for a while while she creates and works on her bucket list. But during her travels she knows she needs to deal with her biggest regret back in her hometown. The man who’s heart she broke to pursue her dream career in Hollywood.

Cole doesn’t know what to think when his high school sweetheart walks back into his life after so many years apart. But they’re able to put the past behind them and acknowledge that they’re both better for having the time apart to grow into themselves.

My only issue with the book is the lack of conflict in the entire second half of the book. I don’t need unnecessary angst and I appreciate the lack of crazy ex’s and other things like that. But I wish there was just a little something that showed their relationship as one they’re going to fight for. Or maybe just show us readers how their arguments will be dealt with in the future.

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like seeing how the couple will be handling stress and drama together is just as important of a relationship milestone as the intimacy. Plus it would have made the last half of the book more memorable in the long run.

Love, Again by LP Dover is a beautifully written 2nd chance at love romance. 10 years before, Aubrey and Cole were high school sweethearts , totally in love - ready to make their love forever when something life changing happens which changes the course of both of their lives and their love. Fast forward 10 years and we see Aubrey is a famous Hollywood director. She has has a " lightbulb" moment due to near- death experience and writes a bucket list. On that list is going back home to Oklahoma and seeing her ex-boyfriend, Cole. She wants to let go of the past and also confront her ghosts... well Cole didn't like having her come back. He was devastated by her sudden reappearance after 10 years radio silence. Her apologies and reasons dont move him to forgiveness. Yet there is still sparks of passion between the former lovers. As they spend time together, the love that was once there springs forth and is like a river that runs between them. Those invalid promises in the past are what cause strife between the lovers now-- the trying but not able to forget. It's realizing love matters over pride. Will Cole and Aubrey be able to do this or is their love doomed for a 2nd time ?
I loved the emotions , actions, and feels that occurred in this story. The main characters really touched a spot in my heart which was deftly done by the author. I enjoyed reading Ms. Dover's newest. The plot was on point, the emotions get you going and the characters are ones you will remember.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much!

Let me just start off by saying how much I loved this story. The book starts off with Aubrey receiving alarming news, quickly discovered to be a false alarm, yet it still causes her to realize that she wants more out of her life. Sure, she has the dream career she’s always wanted, but is she actually happy with her life?

She sets off on a bucket list adventure and along the way she finds herself back in her hometown, looking to make amends with the one person she knows she never should have let go, her first love, Cole.

Right off the bat you can feel the guilt and regret Aubrey feels about leaving Cole to fulfill her dreams in Hollywood. And you can feel the tension and chemistry between the two characters.

This is a story about second chances, and how the things that you thought were lost, are really right there waiting to be found again.

I loved every part of Aubrey and Cole’s story. I especially loved that they got their happy ever after. I really loved the ending and I cried tears of joy reading it. Thank you for writing this wonderful book!!

**FULL REVIEW**

Aubrey's second chance almost never happened...

Though he lived in her heart, Cole wasn't a part of her glamorous life in California. She left him ten years prior to pursue her dreams and while her profession gave her everything she thought she wanted, life was still a bit empty without the love of her life to share it with.

Queue the SWOON!!

Some misinformation and clarity in thinking about how life should be...Aubrey changes her trajectory and begins a journey of self-discovery, travel, and hopefully a second chance at love.

Problem is, will Cole accept her apology and try again?

Guess you'll have to read and find out!

I thought this story was perfect for the romantic heart...one that believes that love conquers all. In so many ways, it does. I loved how Aubrey found her purpose, pursued her dreams, and found herself.

Dover delivers a heartfelt, sweet, and completely swoon-worthy story in Love, Again.
Who says you can't go home again, anyway?

Love, Again by L.P. Dover is a second chance romance with all the feels. Aubrey Reynolds walked away from the man she loved to pursue her dreams. It was a chance she had to take but has always been her biggest regret. But when she is handed some unexpected news, she decides to take some time off and enjoy life. Somehow, she finds her way back home and to the man that still owns her heart.

Cole Haywood knew he had to let Aubrey go, but that did not mean he was not heartbroken when she left. He loved her deeply. Now she is back and stirring up his feelings. But it is not one-sided. I loved Cole so much. He was strong, determined and had a heart of gold. Aubrey was smart, driven and caring. Could they find a way back to each other after all this time? Love, Again by L.P. Dover was a charming second chance romance. I loved Cole and Aubrey and their journey so much.

Aubrey Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s hottest directors. When she gets a health-scare she decides to make a bucket list and one of those things is to try to find her old boyfriend, Cole Haywood, that she left behind ten years ago. Can these two find love again or has too much time and pain made that impossible? This is a story not only of second chances but also of self discovery. Beautifully written second chance romance. Both characters are well written and very easy to liked along with the secondary characters. Cole also happens to be a hot firefighter so bonus!! “Always follow your dreams, but don’t leave the ones you love behind. You might come to find it’s too late if you do.” Told in dual POV

I'd like to thank Netgalley and Loveswept for gifting me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that I am pretty biased about this author. She's been one of my favorite's and I was so excited to be able to get this ARC.

This is a great second chance romance with very little drama. Aubrey and Cole grew up together and fell in love. They were engaged and ready to start their lives together when Aubrey walked away to pursue her dream of being a movie director. Years later with a health scare Aubrey started to reflect on her life and what was important to her. Upon completing her bucket list it brought her back to her home town. It was inevitable that Aubrey and Cole would find their way together again.

I love second chance romances and how love can be found again.

I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I love second chance romances, sometimes they can be very messy or other times easy going. Either way the pain and heart break is still the same. But in Aubrey case if she hadn't of left to persue her dream she would of loved with regrets, and Cole and her might of got married back when they young. But they could of ended up resenting each other and got divorce down the road. This very hard for me to say but I believe they got it right. Doesn't make there choices any easier but life is short. We all. Learn that some the easy way and others the hard way. I also absolutely loved Emila and Bennett there story would be an amazing book as well.

"Love, Again" by L. P. Dover

My Rationalization:

This was indeed a beautiful read that will keep your attention as you are turning the pages to see what was coming next for Aubrey Reynolds especially after her misdiagnosis health scare. I loved the idea that Aubrey decided to stop and smell the roses by taking off time from work to pursue her bucket list which included returning to her hometown, in Dusty Valley, Oklahoma, where she had left ten years ago. Will she find the forgiveness Aubrey so desperately seeks? Well, since this is a story of a romantic second chance be ready for a good read that featured not only Aubrey and Cole but also his brother, Bennett and Aubrey's best friend, Emilia who were all amazing good people and added so much to this story. The read gave off a good view of seeing Aubrey's desire to finally mend her past with Cole and in the end seeing them both work at it making it finally coming together so very well for them. This author did a wonderful job of presenting this well-written story to the reader. Yes, this was a nice read and with the help their friends and family the story comes together so well for a HEA.

Thank you to NetGalley, Loveswept and L.P. Dover for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, pain, secrets, and heartbreak.

This is Aubrey and Cole’s story. Aubrey left her town and the man she loved to pursue her dreams. But now years later after receiving a false positive on a test she is heading home. She wants to see the man she left behind. Will he still want to see her? Cole was pissed when Aubrey left him. He loved her and he was heartbroken when she chose her dreams over him. He really never expected to see her again but what happens when she comes looking for him? Will he keep his heart locked up tight as they spend time together? Or will he play for keeps in hopes she chooses him this time?

I loved these characters and the side characters. I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I recommend this book.

I'm used to reading hot and heavy second chance romance. And don't get me wrong this one is all that but it has the sweet factor that had me loving the MC's so much.

Cole and Aubrey spent 10years apart but that helped them to grow and discover that the only place that brings them happiness is in each others arms. This story was full of funny banter, a little bit of a heartbreak and a whole lot of love that will make you believe that second chances really do exist.

Life is all about second chances....that’s how Aubrey sees her life now. When she is given startling news, she starts to reevaluate her life and the one person she misses the most....

Enter Cole.....first love.....then life went haywire for Aubrey and now years later she wants that second chance.

Ms. Dover captured my attention from the start....I loved Cole and Aubrey was quirky and fun! I mean, her bucket list!!!!
