About the author

Gabrielle Ashton is a contemporary romance author, and self-confessed book addict. She loves to read anything from contemporary, to paranormal, to historical: you publish it, Gabrielle will read it!
When she’s not writing about her favourite romance tropes in gorgeously exotic locations, Gabrielle studies law and also works as a television producer. On any given day she wakes up at three in the morning for work, fits in a few classes at university then comes home and writes.
Gabrielle grew up in Australia, has lived in Paris, and now resides in Sydney with her boyfriend, two dogs and cat. Although, said boyfriend is making a strong case for a pet bird.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2019Holding Out for Paris is the first book I’ve read by Gabrielle Ashton, and it will not be my last. I enjoyed this story of Lizzie and Spencer, it's a cute friend to lovers story. Spencer is called by Lizzie’s brother to have him visit her after she’s in a breakup to check on her and make sure she’s alright. The only problem is she’s not the little sister Spencer remembered. Lizzie spends time with him and finds there’s more to Paris when you're looking at it through someone else’s eyes. Spencer finds her smart and sexy and may find more than he’s looking for. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next book called Holding Out for Harper.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 14, 2019Holding Out for Paris was such a fun read! This book is a contemporary romance, as well as a best friend’s little sister/brother’s best friend romance. The blurb caught my attention, the first couple of chapters hooked me, and I could not put this book down!
Spencer was what I expect in a hero: strong, successful, and handsome. However, what I truly admired about him the most was his loyalty and his down to earth attitude. Did I mention he is good at big, romantic gestures? He was practically perfect in every way.
Elizabeth is creative and filled with big dreams. She wants to live in Paris and become a successful writer like so many of the great writers she loves. I definitely related to her love of books! She is a bit naive and oblivious to reality at times though, probably because she has led a fairly sheltered life. Nevertheless, despite her faults, I genuinely liked her.
The plot was interesting and unique. At one point I really thought I knew what was going to happen next. I was wrong, and I enjoyed being surprised by the outcome.
This is my first book by Gabrielle Ashton. It is book one in the Holding Our For series and is a standalone. I look forward to seeing what the author publishes next.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2019Holding out for Paris is a great read. Spencer and Lizzie have a wonderful story. Spencer is checking on Lizzie after her brother Spencer’s best friend calls and asked him to check on her for him. Lizzie is suffering from a broken heart and needs a rebound guy. Will Spencer be that rebound guy or since she is his best friends sister will he not mess with her? I definitely recommend this book it is a great story and you will not be disappointed. Make sure you one click.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2019It's hard to believe that this is a debut novel! I really enjoyed it from start to finish!
Lizzie - is off trying to write the next great novel! We start with her heart being shattered by a cad of a man. She calls her brothers, and is a hot mess - crying and drinking cheap french wine in the middle of the day. Her brother Josh - calls in a favor from his best mate - Spencer who is in England opening a new gym and off he goes to find Lizzie.
The sparks of her youth ignite! Spencer fights the bro code and Lizzie for awhile and then he gives into his feelings and desires. Everyone needs a little bit of Spencer in their life!
Ms. Ashton's writing is wonderful, she takes you into the sites and sounds of Paris! The plot lines are tight and keep you involved and reading! If this is a debut novel - I cannot wait to see what happens as she becomes a seasoned writer! Well done!

I’m sad that I did not enjoy this debut more. This author definitely has potential. I am more excited for the second book and hope that I will enjoy it. I found that secondary characters stole the show for me. I also found the main character, Elizabeth, lacking in backbone and having her own thoughts. I wish the author provided more translation for the French phrases she used in her book. Spencer was okay as well, but he wasn’t everything I wanted, although I did enjoy him more than Elizabeth.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2019OH. MY. GOD. This book. I can't even begin to describe it. Lizzie and Spencer were explosive and hot and sweet and everything else you could possibly want in a romance novel rolled into one. I devoured this book in only a few hours and I seriously can't say enough good things about it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2020The forbidden brother's best friend story, but written very well. Even though she come across as very naive, I liked Elizabeth's character and her unrealistic expectations. Enter Spencer, her brother's best friend who was asked by her brother to check on Elizabeth because he knows something is wrong with her. Yes, you guessed it, they fall in love. However, there are a couple wrinkles that try to tear them apart, and it looks like that might happen permanently. We learn, though, that Elizabeth is not all romantic fantasy.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2020Spencer and Elizabeth are THE perfect couple! They had both been attracted to each other earlier in their lives but for one reason or another were not able to act on it. But now . . . . The time has come!

5.0 out of 5 stars HOU LA LA!
HANDS DOWN AMAZING!! Loved this book so much and the cover 😍😍
This story is about a sister who falls in love with her older brothers best friend. I love these types of books they just make me so happy.
After discovering her older French boyfriend is married with kids Lizzie buys some cheap wine and goes home to cry. After speaking with her brothers they decided to ask Spencer to go and check on her since he was only in London finishing up with her Gym opening. Spencer being her brothers best friend.
Lizzie thinks Spencer has come to see her to scope out places to open up a new gym but really her brothers asked him to come and check on her.
Lizzie had a crush on Spencer when she was younger and the feelings never really went away. Spencer has noticed that Lizzie isn't the little girl she once was.
Lizzie and her best friend go out clubbing to find Lizzie a rebound. Spencer being the guy that he is shows up and whisks Lizzie away before she makes a mistake that she will regret. Then they finally kiss and Spencer runs away.
Spencer and Lizzie eventually get together and how cute it was.
Lizzie ex eventually comes around and tells her he still loves her and misses her and that he divorced his wife for her. Lizzie doesn't want to throw away 6 months worth of love and start to question everything with Spencer.
At this point Spencer is clearly in love with Lizzie. It broke my heart when he made her that beautiful dinner and got her flowers and she "forgot about dinner"
My favourite part of this whole book would have to be how Spencer proposed to Lizzie. Spencer knows how Lizzie loves to look in books to see if there are any written notes. Well this is how he proposes, with a cute little note asking her to marry him. Obviously she says yes.
This book has romance, sadness, the Eiffel tower, croissants & baguettes and a HEA.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soooooo good
I loved this book! So many emotions.
I could not imagine being in love with someone to find out they are married and have kids.
I love Elizabeth so much, and her bestie Sophia is FANTASTIC. They have great dialogue and a fantastic friendship.
The heat between Elizabeth and Spencer is EVERYTHING. There is so much leading up to that first kiss that you are like "KISS ALREADY!"
But it's timed out perfectly.
I laughed I cried I want more! lol
but seriously if you love a good brothers best friend romance this book is for you.
