Hammered (Happy Cat Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 3,548 ratings

I didn’t mean to kidnap the groom.
It was an accident.
Mostly...

At least I didn't take much time to plan it. It was more of a spur of the moment kidnapping. Does that count?

One minute, the town’s bad boy is standing at the altar about to marry the world’s most evil kindergarten teacher. The next, he’s passed out in my Vespa sidecar with his bride hot on our tail.

But I didn't have a choice! I couldn't stand by and watch Jace O’Dell be blackmailed into a loveless marriage. And besides, what’s a little kidnapping between friends?

Okay, so maybe we’re not just friends...

And maybe I can’t quit thinking about that night at his bar when he closed up early and had me on the rocks.

And maybe this crazy stunt is going to blow up in both of our faces.

If it does, I’m blaming the moonshine.

Even though the only thing I’m hammered on when it comes to Jace is love—straight up, no chaser.

Another funny and enjoyable read by Pippa Grant and Lili Valente. Their books are always good for laugh and this one was no exceptions with all the usual hijinx of the small town, Happy Cat. I liked Olivia and Jace and hated Ginger from the hose book so it was great to read what happened with them all.
Well written with entertaining storyline and endearing characters.

Hammered by Pippa Grant & Lili Valente is the second book in their fabulous new co-written Happy Cat series. Told in dual POV between Olivia Moonbeam, the town's resident aura-reader and crystal toting bundle of positivity, and Jace O'Dell, the town bad boy with a bad reputation, no matter how undeserved. Oh, and of course, Princess von Spooksalot and George Cooney. Mustn't forget the amazing supporting cast :-)

Jace has always been the bad boy, the daredevil, the one O'Dell boy guaranteed to get up to no good AND get caught for it. One spectacular night with Olivia has him wondering why he has wasted so much of his life in a toxic relationship with Ginger. Things are finally looking right in his world until he gets a call from Ginger stating she is pregnant with his child. Of course he is going to do the right thing and that, unfortunately, means saying goodbye to all the potential happiness a future with Olivia would mean.

Olivia's magical night with Jace not only opened her eyes to the fact he is her kindred - umm - spirit, but also to a new furever friend when they stumble across an abandoned hedgehog she names Princess von Spooksalot. When Jace calls with the news about ginger she is devastated but also glad she has her prickly friend to keep her busy. Now, if she could only figure why she can't stop sneezing...

Hilarious, angsty, super sexy, and filled with laugh out loud moments this book was awesome. It painted an even more vivid picture of the town of Happy Cat, Georgia, beyond the sex toy factory and introduced us to even more characters to laugh at, laugh with, and swoon over. Enjoy!

This book is funny, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!

Pippa and Lili are an excellent writing team, as book two in this series demonstrates. Jace O'Dell is the town screw up, but he wants to prove all the naysayers wrong. Olivia Moonbeam is the one woman who looks past all the gossip to see the real him, and Jace finds himself falling for her after a steamy encounter behind his bar.

But when his on-off girlfriend, Ginger, tells him she's pregnant, Jace is determined to do the right thing by his child, regardless of how he feels for their mother. So he reluctantly breaks it off with Olivia and agrees to marry Ginger. The only way he can get through the ceremony is drunk, so he doesn't so much as murmur a protest when Olivia turns up on her Vespa and whisks him away. What will the townsfolk say? Will Jace go through with doing the right thing, or will he follow his heart? Will Ginger let her man go so easily?

This book is funny, sweet, and easy to read. This is the kind of book that will take your mind off everything and just allow you to enjoy a good story.

Hammered is the second book in the Happy Cat series (still a hilarious name for a town) and it follows Jace and Olivia. But most importantly George Cooney, Princess von Spooksalot and Sir Pendleton Macavoy, Investigator at Large. That’s right, George has got some new friends in the form of a hedgehog and a taxidermied squirrel. If you’ve read the previous book you’ll know that George is a riot and saves the day. And he’s back at it again. We don’t see as much of him because Princess and Sir Pendleton take centre stage. Both of whom are Olivia’s pets on her journey to finding love with Jace whilst dodging a crazy girlfriend, hedgehog nappers, a creepy cop and the general zaniness of the Happy Cat residents.
So I mean you could pretend you’re reading Hammered for Jace and Olivia who are actually the main characters. But let’s be real, you’re reading it for George Cooney, the real hero.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book

Hammered is book 2 in the Happy Cat series and Grant & Valente takes you on a very crazy journey. Jace and Olivia are not a match which anyone saw coming but once they got together there was no denying their chemistry.

When Jace’s ex comes back into his life she stirs things up that don’t start to add up and Olivia is going to find out what that is. Olivia starts finding pieces of the puzzle, but is she able to stop the groom before he makes a mistake? When the crazy comes out to play you are left with a broken-down clown school, a racoon, kittens and a very cute hedgehog.

Hammered is told in dual POV and took me on a ride for sure; just when you think the Happy Cat couldn’t get any more bizarre; Grant & Valente prove you wrong.

I enjoyed reading this book and I feel that I now have a greater understanding of Racoons and how their minds work!

Right from the start you can feel their chemistry, the crackle of the fire between them ... you can feel that they are right for each other.
But why should it be easy?
Jace want to do the right thing and is trying to hold is attraction, his feelings to Olivia at bay - and let his love go. I adore him and I understand why he is doing it ... Ginger is playing not fair.
Olivia is such a cute person. I'd like to be a friend of her. She loves animals, the nature itself. You get to know Princess, a cute abandoned hedgehog, Chewpaca and you also meet George Cooney again.
I really wanna live in Happy Cat among all these lovely-crazy people.
If you don't want funny faces from other people, because you are snort-laughing a lot, you should better not read it in public.
But throughout the book you feel their love, hope, their desperation. You feel everything and you will love the book.

I highly recommend this book ♥️

Jace has had a long drawn out on again off again relationship with Ginger. He's a business owner in Happy Cat, but also has a history of arrests for minor incidents, mostly because Deputy Chester has had it in for him since Jace gave him a swirly - IN HIGH SCHOOL.

Olivia believes in auras and crystals and all things metaphysical. She also believes that there is something there between her and Jace, and he feels the same thing. But Chester & Ginger have a plan of their own, and it doesn't include Olivia and Jace getting a HEA.

Spoiler alert - they do ;)

As usual from these authors, there is a lot of amusement in the story along with real love and passion.

What do you do when your two favourite authors write a series of books together??? Well, you one-click them so fast you don't have time to blink!!!!

I knew in Hosed that I wanted Jace and Olivia to have a story because I was soooooooooo sure that they were meant to be, not him and that Ginger floozy he was sort of with... AND I WAS RIGHT!!!!!!! This book has romance, laughs, crazy animals, and a little bit of a mystery (just a little more scary than Hosed had, with a greater payoff in my opinion) and it was everything I could have dreamed of for a return to the small town of Happy Cat, GA.

Come fall in love with Jace and Oliva - and Chewpaca the overly friendly alpaca!!!! - while they try to get their chakras and auras in line with each other and solve the mystery of why Ginger is so terrible. Ok, ok, I'm kidding about that part but you do get to see Ginger get what she deserves - and Jace and Olivia get the happy ending THEY deserve! And George Cooney - because he made Hosed and YES he appears here too!!!! It can be read as a standalone, but you'll be curious about some of the things they mention, as well as all the mentions of Ryan and Cassie (the O'Dell brothers are featured here, so you have to figure they're there too!!!!) and some of the things that happened in their book but you don't need to read Hosed to love Hammered. Or maybe I'm biased? But you will want to read Hosed if you haven't because everyone needs a little trash panda in their lives named George Cooney!

I will say, if you've read either of these ladies before you know that they write stories that make you laugh and make the pages sizzle in places. Hammered is no different and I spit out my coffee a few times laughing on the train, much to my copassengers chagrin!

I have been dying to read this book since I read Hosed and the second book in the Happy Cat series was worth the wait. It follows Jace and Olivia’s story, if you are looking for a laugh out loud, light and thoroughly entertaining read then I cannot recommend this book enough.

Jace O’Dell was and is still known as Happy Cat’s resident bad boy, making silly choices as a teen has followed him through the past few years even though he is now a successful business owner with his own bar. He has been trapped in a destructive relationship for years with Ginger, on again and off again he has decided that this time it’s for good especially with Olivia Moonbeam sat across from him in the bar, she radiates sunshine where ever she goes and could not be any more opposite to his toxic ex. He has always been attracted to Olivia and that night he makes his move, after a magical night together he finally has all that he wants but it wasn’t meant to last. Ginger announces that she is pregnant and he watches his chance of happiness with the girl of his dreams drift away, determined to do the right thing and be the best father he can will he make the ultimate sacrifice and marry Ginger and will the towns sheriff finally stop his vendetta?

Olivia Moonbeam moved to Happy Cat with her best friend Savannah to help her start her sex toy business, she is quirky and bright and always makes everyone around her smile. She has always been attracted to Jace O’Dell but knew he was off limits that is until one night they both confess their feelings and spend a perfect night together, not only does she finally have her shot with Jace but she has found a friend in princess the hedgehog and her watchful stuffed squirrel but her happiness is short lived when Jace ends things with Ginger being pregnant she knows that she needs to move on but when things start to not make sense she knows she has to try and save Jace, plus what’s a kidnapping on his wedding day between friends?

This is such a fantastically light and funny read I could not help but smile all the way through and such entertainment from the four legged fur babies in this book I am so looking forward to the next one. Highly recommended book, story and series.

I seriously can't get enough of these books! Hilarious cast of characters, so sweet and swoony plus the most hilarious storyline ever. Mixed in with enough drama to keep it hilariously interesting and we got another winner.
I was slightly worried about reading Olivias book because of how new-age crystals and chakras she is... which has always seemed so ridiculous to me, but it really just made her character all the better.
Jace was an awesome character and I adore they're HEA.
