Jensen Grayson has truly loved one woman. Even after a short-lived marriage, the ghost of the girl he once knew has plagued his adulthood. Now, a single father, Jensen’s world revolves around his son, Max, and his landscape business. Until one day, he’s contracted for a job at the house he’s always avoided.
Rockland Falls was the only place that felt like home. Pulled from the life she knew at eighteen, Kathryn Elliott was forced to leave it all behind, including the boy she loved. Now, she’s returning home to pick up the pieces of her chaotic life and find her happiness once more.
Will Jensen and Kathryn be able to look past the years’ worth of hurt to forge a future? When exposed secrets wreak havoc on their new life, can they move past the lies if they revolve around their own families?
Avid reader, writer, mother, and wife! I love to read contemporary romance. Add in a little "spice" or hot guys in uniform pants, and I'm a happy woman. There's just something about diving into a book and engrossing in the magic of your hero and heroine getting their happily ever after.
This was a snooze fest. Hero is weak (lets his ex wife run all over him) heroine is an emotional weak mess. Don’t know which one I despise more. Probably the heroine. I hate a weak female lead.
The couple separated when they were 18 because people in relationships don’t know how to communicate apparently. Of course the hero decides to date and marry a woman that was a bitch to the heroine. This happens often and when it does a book is already doomed to a one star for me, especially if the hero knew that the woman was awful to the “love of his life”. Why even go there? Out of all the women.
Hero has a kid with woman and they get divorced. After 12 years heroine finally returns after her father’s death and to process her own divorce.
Love and Landscape by Lacey Black is book Three in the Rockland Falls Series. This is the story of Kathryn Elliott and Jensen Grayson. I have read the previous books, which added to my enjoyment of this one, but I did feel you could make it a standalone book if you wish to do so. Jensen has broken up with his son's mother who is a good person. So he is trying to keep his Landscaping business going along with helping to keep his son Max happy and healthy. Kathryn is the girl that got away but is now back in Jensen world. Jensen is being contracted to work on Kathryn family estate which puts him in close working order with her. This has both of them bring up old feelings for each other which neither can resist for long. Enjoyed their story.
Let me start by saying I wish I could give this book more than five stars. I love that this was a second-chance at love story for high school sweethearts that were torn apart in the middle of the night when Kate's family moved to New York with out a word to anyone, but, what I loved more is that each of the relationships felt real to me. I know moving on isn't easy and there is usually a lot of bitterness and bickering but you always hope that the child isn't used as a weapon between the parents and Ashley had tried to get Jensen back but she knew when she was defeated and thankfully didn't get to nasty about it.
Kathryn "Kate" and Jensen have that once in a lifetime kind of love that you really never get over, they both tried to move on but neither was successful at it. Kate's father recently passed away and left her their family home in Rockland Falls and she couldn't get back there fast enough. The chemistry between Jensen and Kate could be felt immediately but what had me really pulling for them was the way Kate was with "Just Max." Max is Jensen's four year old son and let me tell you this little boy stole every scene he was in, he was just that adorable. Kate was amazing with him and for me, as a step-mom myself, was very important to see because there has to be a real connection between the two individuals that are your main focus in life because if there isn't, well lets just say things probably wont work out to well.
Kate suffers from Panic Attacks and if you have ever had you know they are not fun, but you know what is fun Aunt Emma and Uncle Orvil that come to visit and stay with Kate for a few days. I swear I cannot get enough of these two!
This series will be coming to an end soon and I will be sad when that happens but first we have to see what happens with Samuel...will Freedom finally get him to admit his feelings for her? Or will someone new pop onto the scene and steal his heart? I can't wait to see what happens.
I recommend this book to EVERYONE that enjoys Contemporary Romance, I would suggest reading the series in order since it follows a family and each of the siblings are in every book, although, the book highlights just one couple and can be read as a standalone if that is what you wish to do.
Love and Landscape is the third book in Lacey Black’s Rockland Falls series, a spin-off of her Summer Sisters series, but you don’t have to read that series to enjoy this one. This book is a second-chance romance between first loves, Jensen Grayson, owner of a successful landscape business, and Kathryn Elliott, the girl who broke his heart with no explanation. This couple had a history going back to high school that was cut short by Kathryn’s unexplained, middle-of-the-night departure with her family. Returning to Rockland Falls 12 years later, Kathryn just wants a fresh start in the only place that’s ever felt like home.
The chemistry between Jensen and Kathryn is still there, but old wounds and hurts need to be dealt with before this couple can move forward. Not only do they also have to deal with Jensen’s nightmare of an ex, but the truth of what happened all those years ago still has to be dealt with as well. A love like theirs never really goes away, though, and Lacey masterfully takes readers along for the ride as Jensen and Kate navigate that journey back to it. Heart-tugging, emotional, sweet and romantic, this is a must-read for any second-chance romance fan.
Love and Landscape was an entertaining and sexy addition to this fantastic series, and I finished it already thinking about the next book. I need more of this town, more of this family, and I will never get enough of Lacey Black’s small town romances. Black fills her amusing, engaging stories with endearing characters and sexy-sweet romances, and I reach for her books when I want to get lost in the lives, and loves, of a big family in a small town. Five smooches from me for Love and Landscape by Lacey Black! ~Danielle Palumbo
This was the first book I’ve read by Lacey and I will definitely be reading the rest of the books in this series. I totally fell head over heels for this sassy and fun family. And let me tell you right now that “Just Max” will absolutely steal your heart.
Jensen is trying to navigate his life, after a divorce and trying to juggle his 4-year-old son with his landscaping business. He’s worked hard to get his business up and running, and he’s really proud of his accomplishments but he spending time with his son is his number one priority. The only thing is he’s got a huge job coming up that is bringing up some ghosts of the past plus his ex-wife has this notion that the two of them can get back together.
So when Jensen gets to the new project and finds the girl who broke his heart over a decade ago, his life just got a lot more complicated.
Kate was so ready to come home. After leaving abruptly over a decade ago, with no warning, she’s finally back and ready to start the life she’s always wanted. She didn’t expect to see Jensen so soon after getting to the home her father left her in his will. Or to find out that he was the landscaper for her rejuvenation of the property. As the two start to reconnect, mysteries of what happened all those years ago start to come to light.
I totally fell in love with Jensen and Kate. First love is just sigh… And like I said Jensen’s son Max steals your heart. I love the relationship between Kate and Max. It just leaves a big smile on your face.
Such a great read! And I can’t wait to read more books from Lacey.
I quite enjoyed reading this book. It took some time for me to really get into it but once I did I was hooked.
For Kate and Jensen to find each other again after all those years and to fall back into love just made me heart so happy. With Jensen being a single father committed to work and his son and Kate starting over from a divorce and the loss of a parent, these two definitely needed each other. Fate and time brought them back together and they didn’t waste any time picking up where they left off.
Oh my God what a book! This pulled at my heart strings in the best possible way!
I don't know how Lacy Black does it one minute I am reaching for my tissues as I silently cry with the emotion that surrounds Kathryn and Jensens love story then next I can't catch my breath as this beautiful story unfolds.
I didn't think anything could beat Megan and Nick's story 'My Kinda Forever' (Book 6 in the Summer Sisters series - this is the spin of from that series) but I think this book just might!
Let me introduce you to Jensen 30 year Landscape Gardener newly divorced with a 4 year son called Max or as Kathryn calls him ' Just Max'. Jensen is juggling keeping his ex wife happy with running a successful landscape business. When he is given the opportunity to do the work on the biggest house in Rockland Falls steeped in history - history of Jensen and the only girl he ever loved Kathryn. Kathryn who one night disappeared with her family leaving the house and never returning - no phone call no email nothing!
Now someone is moving is into the house that has been abandoned for 12 years and Jensen gets to relieve his past by putting the gardens and the pool to its former glory not easy when memories are al around him.
Kathryn is finally coming home after the death of her beloved father she finally is able to get away from NY divorce her cheating husband Charles Dunnington III whom her mother thought was the perfect husband for someone like Kathryn not a blue collar worker like Jensens family was all those years ago! As soon as Kathryn and Jensen meet the chemistry is still there but hurt and misunderstandings from all those years ago need addressing and when the truth is revealed more heartbreak is to following! Add in the mix an ex wife who has disliked Kathryn since school days these two are not in for an easy time!
This spin of series would not be complete without a cameo from my two fav people Uncle Olvie and Aunt Emma (again you can see more of these two in the Summer Sister's series) these two crack me up with their sexual capers, I was doubled over with laughter during their visit to Rockland Falls - with sentences like 'he seems like the type of man who likes to pound the paternal pistol'!
This is a beautiful written book that pulled out my heart strings in the best possible way! In the words of Jensen - You can't love without hurt, and most cases, you can't have just without love!
Love & Landscape is the third book in the Rockland Falls series from Lacey Black and it's a WINNER!!! I loved every single thing about Jensen and Kathryn's second shot at love! It's CHOCK FULL of allllll the feels that I've come to expect from Ms. Black (and a visit from those hilariously inappropriate grandparents from the Summer Sisters series, Emma and Orval, that brought the tears of laughter...AND some "I can't believe Emma just said that!" moments) I simply can't get enough of this series and I can't WAIT for the next installment!
Like I said, this is Jensen and Kathryn's second-chance love story and it did NOT disappoint! The shocking discovery of just WHY things went sideways the first time around, had me cursing up a storm and shaking my fist at a few of these characters....uhhhhhmmmm, I can't be the ONLY one that does that, right?! RIGHT???!!! Anyway, I fell head-over-heels in love with Jensen and Max, his adorable son from his ill-fated first marriage, and Kathryn. who is strong and feisty (except when it comes to her Mother, who is one of those characters that you love to hate!) The chemistry and sexual tension between Jensen and Kate is off-the-charts HAWT!!! Put it all together and you have a heart-and-soul satisfying love story that is UN-PUT-DOWN-ABLE!!!
The ONLY thing that I didn't like about this book? It ended FAAAAARRRR too soon! I wanted MORE!!! But I say that with every Lacey Black novel because they are so good, you don't want them to end! This one is no exception and it's a MUST READ as far as I'm concerned!
Love and Landscape is the 3rd book in the Rockland Falls series by author Lacey Black. This book is a 2nd chance romance between first loves, Jensen Grayson whose an owner of a successful landscape business and Kathryn Elliott- the girl who ended up breaking Jensen's heart literally with no explanation when she left him and the town behind with no word. Theirs was a history that was from high school that was never resolved and they haven't seen each other since things blew up back then. Fast forward 12 years and Kathryn is back in town. Her father has passed away and he left her the home she grew up in...but the home needs fixing up , especially on the outside. Who does she run into when she hires landscaping but her ex boyfriend and true love , Jensen. The story is about miscommunication, true love, 2nd chances, secrets, lies, angst, heartache, fate , forgiveness, healing, chemistry, feels, romance, and steamy heat. This will have you rooting for the main characters ... oh and there are some great secondary characters- Jensen 's little boy. Just a fantastic 2nd chance at romance read!!
Lacey Black's Rockland Fall's series is so freaking good! It has a nice tough of sweet and innocent, but with a dash of dirty in it! Basically, there is something for everyone with this book!
Kathryn and Jensen grew up together and fell in love, at least, until one night where Kathryn was wisked away by her mother and never to see Jensen again. FF YEARS later and Jensen is a successful landscaper and he gets a job to work on a new property, one that is now owned by a blast from the past. What happens when two people are meant to be together, but fate is fickle when determining when? Read the book to see- because there is SOOOO much more in this book and you do not want to miss it!
All in all, I highly recommend this book to everyone. You do not need to read the other books in the series, but it will make it more enjoyable by knowing more about the supporting characters- but it is NOT a necessity. Great job Lacey, I cannot WAIT for Samuel's story!
PS: Thank you to Lacey and Give Me Books PR for allowing me an advanced copy of the book to read and review honestly! <3
When Jensen gets the new job at the home that holds all the memories and pain of his youth, he knows he must push through and get the job done. In walks the owner of that home and the only woman he ever loved. When their past collides with their present will it destroy their future? Oh wow! What can I say about this book first off... loved "just Max" Max totally captivated me. Kate and Jensen are just so perfect for each other. They are each other's strength when they need to be. This story had so many turns in it that I loved every word. The story was so touching and I just fell in love with all these characters all over again, well, except for Ashley. Highly recommend this book and series. Definitely a must read.
I love my trips back to Rockland Falls. Like seriously. The place, the people, and my favorite family! And Jensen, Kathryn, and Max’s story is no different. I was hooked from the beginning and just needed to know what happened! Not to mention appearances by our other favorite characters, two in particular. But I just, I love so much being able to visit with one of my favorite families while also getting new stories! Love it!!!
[1.75 star] overall okay. but i thought the hero's ex-wife is gonna raise hell after finding out the hero got back with the heroine. ex-wife was more peaceful than i thought.

I listened and read. O.M.G.!! This series gets better and better with each couple. I swear I have no clue who my favorite is!!!! But Lord Almighty, I do love me some Jensen and Kate!! This story pulled at my heart strings. I mean a couple so in love and with dreams of a future together when everything is just ripped away. Neither knew why and when we find out why….Ya’ll I will so mad…Like steaming mad!!! The couple spend 12 years apart, each with different stories as to why they are no longer talking. When Kate comes back to town, she is prepared to see the boy, now a man, who stole her heart and never gave it back. However finding out she still owns his heart….DREAMY SIGHS ALLLLLL DAY LONG!!! Jensen and Kate might have tried to move on with other people, but they never were happy without the other half of their heart. When Kate shows back up and is willing to open her heart back up to him AND his son, Just Max, he is lost in his feelings for her again. The story is so complete with a mix of Auntie Emma, Uncle Orville, and the rest of the Greyson siblings…hey whats up with that look between Harper and Latham at the Fall Festival??? HRMMMMM But I am crazy excited for Samuel’s book. Lord almight he is going to be a good read. I can’t wait for him and his lady love. The old stick in the mud is going to be a hot mess with that little fire cracker!!
This book was perfection. It was funny (with Aunt Emma, she's really something), I laugh so many times. It was emotional, and captivating as well and I loved it.
Kat and Jensen have had a story together in the past when they were in high school, but something happened and she left all of the sudden. Twelve years later she's coming back to her hometown Rockland Falls in her old house. The same house Jensen have to work on as a Landscaper.
Jensen is a single dad now, divorced who live for his son, but when his eyes lead on Kat, all his old life with her resurfaces and he's questionning as well on her return.
Kat and Jensen are so pasionnate and amazing together, I love the magnetic tension they're shared, it's so powerful. On the other hand, I've hated Ashley, Jensen's ex-wife, she was so getting on my nerves, I hate her attitude toward Jensen.
Max is just the best little four year old boy ever. I love how he’s toward Kat and how he always want her to name him « Just Max » this so cute. He’s such a sweet boy.
This book was amazing I had such a great time hearing it, I can't wait to listen to the last book.
Love and Landscape is the 3rd book in the Rockland Falls series and can be read as a standalone. However, you will want to read all the books in this series, because its just that darn good and the characters appear in all the books.
If you are a fan of second chances, single dad books, or small-town romances then Love and Landscape is right up your alley!
Jensen Grayson and Kathryn Elliott were torn apart years ago with Kathryn’s sudden abrupt departure from Rockland Falls. Now years later Jensen is hired to do a landscape job at the house that is filled with memories, only to find out that “his” Kathryn has returned!
You will laugh, cry, want to slap a few characters around, and cheer from your couch! Will these two find their way back to each other, or will the ghosts from their past keep them apart?
I thought for sure we would’ve had more conflict with Ashley since she was a pain in Jensen’s butt and a rival for Kate. Was a little disappointed with that point of the story line.
Jensen and Kathryn dated 12 years prior. Kathryn was ripped from her home and moved to New York without getting to say goodbye to Jensen. Now 12 years later after her father's death she is moving back home to live in her childhood home. Jensen had dreams that were shattered when Kate up and left without so much as responding to his love letters he sent her. After 12 years not much as changed other than the fact he has a son and is divorced. Jensen owns his own landscaping company and gets hired to do all the landscaping at the home of the girl he once loved. Little does he know that Kate is back. When they run into each other it's like no time has passed. Through trial and error they find their way and realize the love they shared 12 years ago is still there. Will Jensen and Kate be able to look past their past and move forward? Will Jensens ex-wife be able to keep her nose out of their business? Read Love and Landscape to find out.
I’m now 3 books into this series and I hope it never ends! Love & Landscapes is the story of Kathryn and Jensen. Old high school sweethearts who must figure out their rocky past before they can move forward. Jensen and Kathryn quickly find that the chemistry they had is still there, but what they must figure out now is how to work through their past and deal with Jensens ex wife, which all made for some rocky situations. •••••••••••••••••••••• Again, characters from previous books crossed over into this new love story. But the relationship between Jensen and Kate is unique. To see them work through their past and go from friends, to enemies, to lovers was in-unputdownable! & the reason why their relationship ended will shock you. But it all made for a sweet and happy ending. I can’t recommend this series enough, it’s an absolute joy! •••••••••••••••••••••
A second chance romance that will give you all the feels. There is a lot of hurt between Kathryn and Jensen. High school sweethearts until Kathryn disappeared in the middle of the night without a word.
Twelve years later and she is back in Rockland Falls but now Jensen is a single father to a little boy.
Kathryn didn’t expect that Jensen would be her landscape designer after all this time but the chemistry is still very much alive despite all the hurt. The two have a lot of stuff to navigate including Jensen’s ex wife who is very much a problem.
Fortunately things work out for the high school sweethearts and 12 years later they get their HEA!
**I was generously provided with a copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review**
This is the first book I read by Lacey Black- what an absolute delight ! Such a beautiful story, so well written ! Jensen’s and Kate’s story is just an absolute treat ! Two people that were forced apart just to find their way to each other years later , when their lives have changed, but not the way they felt for each other. It’s a story of rediscovery, new beginnings, love, lust, family and meaningful way love makes us better !
I read like I breathe , for many many years now - it’s been a long time since a book has drawn me in so much!
Not only a second chance, but a single parent too..everything I love all rolled into one. Jensen and Kathryn have a past, one that left a bitter taste in Jensen's mouth as Kathryn left without a word. Now Kathryn is back and the attraction is still there..but Jensen has an ex and a son,and Kathryn has to explain what happened years ago.. Can these two finally have a happily ever after?! This story was very emotional but also sweet and tender.
Love a good second chance story and i loved this one. Jensen & Katie never got a happy ending the first time and Jensen had questions. The twists and turns in this story were so good and i was so happy that Ashley wasn't shown to be a villain as i struggle with that at times as she was Max's mum. Max was just adorable and i loved him in the previous books but loved him even more in this one. Love this family.
Third book in the series and I enjoyed it so much. This is Jensens story of lost and found love. Kate was a fantastic character and I loved that she just took it all in her stride. A story of lost and 're found love with plenty of HEA and a little bit of Emma and Orville thrown in five stars
Phenomenal in every way. Jensen and Kate's love is timeless, beautiful, and special. The way Kate took to Max was endearing. I really loved this story. It's my favorite. We got a lot more of Aunt Emma and Uncle Orval too. They really are a hoot. On to the last book of this series.
At times this book was fairly predictable. Max was truly the star. Jensen and Kathryn had a nice time getting reunited. Kathryn had a lot of insecurities that were a bit tiresome. Interesting twist with the parents.
What a great story. So happy they found each other again. True love conquers all. Kate and Jensen make a fantastic couple and the love she shows for Just Max and all of her made up names is awesome and brought some great fun in to reading the story. Great read.
I loved this second chance love story by Lacey! Jensen and Kathryn were a delight to read and add in a cute little boy and you get a great read. It was well written and just so enjoyable! I am loving this series and I am excited for Samuel and Free’s story.
God I love these books. I long the aunt and uncle! I hope we someday get to know their story and how they met! Can’t wait to see what happens with Sammy!
