Forgiving Love is Chris & Neely’s story. Neely is part of the Soul Sister’s squad, and I LOVED her so much! It was also an emotional ride from hell type of story, and that does tend to get the heart racing, not to mention, making it hard to breathe a time or two. It also helped that the twists were f-bomb worthy, sending me straight to my happy place of action, suspense, and chaos while keeping the pace fast! Yes, I’m that type of girl, I need the heart pounding that I was given, making my dislike of Chris an afterthought. He actually added in the angst, and I don’t thank him for that, as some men need to get their heads out of their behinds, and the Soul Sisters need to find them in my opinion. Yeah yeah, I know, I’m a tad crazy, but I love what I love. There was the dark horse Ross appearing, and I was all about him, praying that Neely would settle with him as she attempted to move on. Crap happens though, and I won’t reveal those details so just hit tihe one click button to find out! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Neely and Chris are friends who spend one steamy evening together with much different expectations as Neely thought it was a beginning while Chris thought one night was enough.
Neely’s attempt to leave her feelings for Chris in the past have personal and professional consequences and not only is her heart in danger but her life as well.
Watching the relationship unfold between Neely and Chris is full of emotion, suspense and twists. There is no doubt they belong together but getting out of their own way is the biggest challenge of all.
Book 2 in the series is just as good as book one. This is Neely and Chris's story and typically the have a bit of a bumpy road before they admit their terminations try to make a go of things. I loved Neely's character especially when she wouldn't do as she was told and drop her investigation, she was a woman after my own heart lol Thankfully book 3 is already out and I can download it right away.
I’m really enjoying this series. If I could just say though, please edit a bit better and for the love of god STOP USING THE WORD “WHILST”! It’s used continually through the book by most characters that would never use that word at all. Ok that’s my rant. 😘
Oh man! I thought the first book in this series was a roller coaster but wow! Neelie and Chris's book packed an even bigger punch. It's a fast paced, emotional ride for these two. This is a must read series!
Fabulous follow on from Fostering Love. Fun lust and twists Love Jonas more and Chris thankfully is the guy you want him to be in the end. Loved every minute of the book and starting Lotties story Loving the soul sisters novels.
Neels can't forget what happened at the B-B-Q a year ago. Christ was drunk that night and never mentioned it, but will these two find their way to each other.
Forgiving Love - Victoria Johns Genre: Romance, Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews Well, we’re back with the girls again ( and the lads.) This time the focus is on Neely and Chris. I have to say when we first meet Chris he’s a jerk to Neely, and I wondered what on earth she saw in him. New man on the block, Ross, is a far better character. Still, Chris has his reasons, though continues his jerk behaviour for a long time yet. Polly, who lives on the ranch next to his, is convinced he’s hers, and to be fair in between shagging other women he does keep coming back to her. It made me quite angry really, she’s not the nicest of people but does she really deserve the treatment she gets from him? And how on earth can Neely be in love with someone so shallow. Then she goes out with Ross and things heat up. I’m not really into the short skirt, no knickers dressing, nor the loving one person but using another to make them jealous, to the degree they almost have sex. I’m not a prude but there are lines I’d draw and these pass them by a long way... Anyway on with the story. Of course once Chris sees Neely with Ross it gives him a shake up – he’s one of those guys who are scared of the future it seems, scared of settling down, and so while he’s playing the field having fun he’s just assumed Neely will be there for him if he ever wants to get together with her. Well, that’s how it seems to me, so when he hears of Ross moving in on what he’s privately seen as “his” lady he sees red. Ross is new to the group, though knows Jonas from their service days. He seems like a really genuine guy but he’s also got another unseen motive. The secrets keep worming out – Neely is asked to do some confidential work on Chris’ ranch deeds, she’s a paralegal and this kind of thing is a little out of the norm, but her boss says they go with it so long as the firm isn’t compromised. A job’s a job after all. It puts Neely in a difficult position though – and then more secrets come out, bringing her into real danger. For a tiny rural town there’s some sophisticated illegal deals going down, and Neely can’t leave it alone when the authorities move in. She wants to do all she can to protect Chris from any fallout – she knows just how much the ranch means to him. He’s oblivious to begin, but when Neely runs into danger he finds out part, and then the sparks fly – he’s really unpleasant to her, and the tentative moves forward they’d made get pushed back – a long way back, which pleases Polly. She never takes no for an answer and there are some fun scenes between her and Neely. Overall its a sexy, hot read, a fun mystery with some added dangers but what stopped it being five star for me once again is the characters. I just can’t bring myself to really like them, their behaviours at times are really unpleasant, juvenile, and – well – tarty. I need to like my main leads, to be able to put myself in their position and I just can’t bring myself to imagine I’d behave like that. Still, as ever - that’s just me, and others have a different criteria for enjoying a story. Its a hot and spicy read, with some decent drama backing it. Stars: Four, sexy romantic adventure. Forgiving Love is book #2 in the Soul Sisters Series, I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC of the book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.
Victoria Johns writes classy books, the grammar is good (yes this is important to me!!) the writing flows, feels natural and is conversational. But what I love is that I forget that I’m reading a book and just allow myself to be pulled along with the story.
After reading the first book in this series Fostering Love I was looking forward to Neely’s story and I wasn’t disappointed!!
Forgiving Love is everything I was expecting from a sequel and a little bit more.
Neely is a cool girl, she knows she’s hot and she plays it up, to be honest I can’t really remember her and Chris flirting in the first book but they were definitely hot as hell in this one.
I kind of wanted to slap Chris at the start of the book, to be honest I would have described him as a whiny little girl. I had almost written him off and then BAM sexy, alpha Chris came out to play and HELL YES I swooned!!!
I like alpha Chris, it’s like a switch flipped in his head and he suddenly realised he needed to pull his head out of his ass and get his girl. God once he did get her the sex sizzled and smouldered and totally worked for me.
Again Victoria Johns added a tension and drama that added to the reading experience and elevated this from classic romance to edgy romantic suspense.
I have to say that at one point I was totally #TeamRoss and I honestly think I could have been convinced to be like Chris Who!!!
I missed the other Soul sisters in this book, we really only saw Dolly and although I still LOVE Jonas I missed the witty banter between the girls.
Overall this was a great continuation of a great series and I can’t wait to read the next book.
Victoria John's continues the saga of the the Soul Sisters with her latest novel, FORGIVING LOVE. Like the first book, FOSTERING LOVE, the setting in the fictional small town of Hawkestown, a ranching town with tons of secrets.
The story-line is a simple one, boy and girl hook up, unhook, then fight it out to reach their happy ending. Along the line you mix in ATF officers, paramilitary, organized crime, and cowboys and you've got an action-packed story full of fun and suspense.
The characters are well-developed. We've met Neely and Chris before in FOSTERING LOVE. Much has happened since that story ended and it's great to revisit Jonas and Dolly, the main characters from book one, who are supporting characters here.
It's a fun book, easy to read and a great escape if you are looking for some fun in your romance. While part of a series, the book is a complete stand-alone read.
