The Pilot and the Puck-Up (Copper Valley Thrusters Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 8,097 ratings

He’s the biggest, baddest, most spider-fearing player on the ice…

Zeus Berger is an over-muscled, egotistical, sportsing goofball with a bigger mouth than shoe size—which is saying something—and I cannot get him out of my head.

He should be easy to forget. He’s all talk and no follow-through. But after an incredibly awkward one-night-stand gone wrong, I can’t shake him, and I don’t know if I want to.

I need to get my brain back on business, and fast. It’s hard enough being one of the toughest pilots in the flight adventure industry without the distraction of his body, his humor, and the teddy bear heart I’m starting to suspect he hides under all that bluster.

But when I realize he’s besties with the billionaire I’m trying to woo into investing in my business, I realize it can’t hurt to play nice.

Can it?

The Pilot and the Puck-Up is a standalone romantic comedy featuring an athlete whose ego won’t fit inside a hockey arena, the coolest woman to ever fly a plane, rubber chockey (don't ask), and no cheating or cliffhangers

Today, she has more than 30 knee-slapping Pippa Grant titles and nine published under the name Jamie Farrell.

🛩 The Pilot and the Puck-Up 🏒 by @pippa.grant Book 1 of the Copper Valley Thrusters series ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 😅😂🤣 🌶🌶🌶 This is probably the funniest book I've ever read! I dont know if the internal dialogue or the banter is better but I loved it all. It's funny and sweet and spicy and fun!! Zeus Berger is a giant man among mortals who only feels like he fits in on the ice because everywhere else he's not normal. Fireball is exactly what her name leads you to believe. A badash pilot who served in the military and specializes in taking care of her sister and scary away normal men. For that reason she's never actually been with one. A hooker troll and a pilot walk into a charity golf event - you'll have to read it for the punch line!

There is a non-stop debate on Pippa Grant's FB page about which Berger brother we like best - and I've chosen Ares in the past because he's just adorable (for a 6½' 350 lb hockey player).

But on my 3rd read-through of the Pilot and the Puck-up, I might be in love with Zeus.

Joey 'Fireball' Diamonte is a tough as b*lls pilot. She doesn't need anyone, she doesn't show (or acknowledge) feelings, and she doesn't ever expect to find love, nor to fall in love.

Enter Zeusette - you just have to read the first chapter to get it - and he gives as good as he gets. But there's something about Joey that gets under his skin. And he's a big believer in trying again (and again, and again) to get things right.

You've just got to love the way these two get each other. He's so sensitive about how he's perceived publicly, but he puts up a front because that's what everyone expects from a big brute. But Joey? She knows what's real because she's got some sensitive but buried feelings too.

I love the internal dialog in the book, I love how they know exactly what the other one is thinking - and not just between Zeus & Joey, but between Zeus and the entirely too under-rated Ares as well.

Fun book, and don't miss the bonus epilogues!

Sweet Scale: 3/5 (that's all Zeus but Joey's loveable in her own way)

Overview: Zeus Berger and his twin Ares are heading to a charity event, only Zeus has been challenged to dress like a girl, and more money would be donated to any of his charities. Zeus never gives in to a challenge. But when Prince Manning places another bet that Zeus couldn’t score a date while dressed up as a girl with Joey Diamond. Joey was not your normal girl. Joey was well known for her career in the military as well as her own private space flight (0 gravity), she has bigger balls than the Berger twins. The two keep upping each other and find love along the way.

I’m a little late to the Copper Valley party and have been reading books a bit out of order, but that has not ruined my enjoyment of this story at all. The Pilot and the Puck-Up was sooo much fun! I really loved getting into the head of Zeus Berger and Joey Diamonte. This entire book was so utterly wholesome, sassy, sweet and funny!

Zeus is a gentle giant of a man who is used to being adored for what he brings to the Hockey World than who he is as a person. People expect loud and over the top, but they don’t really SEE him as a person. Joey is a strong incredible woman who bows to no man. She has fought to be a successful pilot and businesswoman and is used to men being intimidated by her. She’s not surprised she doesn’t have much of a love life because she knows she’s one tough cookie, but it gets a little lonely. What Zeus and Joey never foresee is to meet and be both
attracted to one another and annoyed all at the same time. These two are so darn adorable with the way they fall in love and I think their story definitely illustrates how finding your person can be unexpected and scary, but always worth the risk.

I really loved the way the characters talk to the reader at times. Their internal dialogue had me rolling. I laughed at all of Zeus’s fantastic callbacks, replies and zingers. Joey was sassy and absolutely the peanut butter to his jelly. If you want a feel good book with a swoony MC and a spirited FMC that results in an awww my heart is so full HEA, then read this book!! Pippa Grant has a way of making your heart ridiculously happy. I’m really looking forward to reading more from this series.

The only reason this review is a 3star is because of the language. There are F-bombs dropped in almost every sentence. It was difficult to finish the book because of it. Good story, funny and loving characters ut I couldn't deal with the language. Which stinks because I loved the previous Cooper Valley stories and was looking forward to this series but I'm having to say goodbye to CV.

Omg!! I swooned and laughed for most of this book. You won’t be able to put this story down nor will you want to! The Pilot and the Pick-Up is filled with everything we love about romance; great storyline, hot and steamy chemistry between the heroine and hero and secondary characters that make you want to learn more about them and read their stories. So if you want to read a book and that has friendship, love, family, hockey, flying and loyalty???? This book has it all!!! Love Zeus and Joey Fireball!! This book hits the back of the hockey net. Happy reading!!

Great book ( even if you don't care about hockey). :-)

Pippa Grant has a sense of humour like no other. You just have to read this book to find out. Twin brothers and hockey players are huge men. Zeus one of the twins, is used to being treated differently because of his height and his behaviour that he tailored to suit his size. Joey (Josephine) trained herself to be tough in almost all aspects of life so she could take care of her sister and run her aircraft business (she is a pilot) in a man’s world. A must read - your will roll or fall over laughing with Pippa’s word play and you will learn the tender side of love and romance that is genuine but very different.

So sorry for my late review but right after I began reading my ARC I struggled with an awful cold.
I was like my brain cells were totally frozen, I spend one week in foggy haze.
So while I laughed out loud with the opening scene, I was unable to appreciate what came after.
So I stopped reading it until yesterday, not wanting to give a lukewarm review because of my dumb mind!
I’m glad I did it, because I really enjoyed this book.
I had to reread the few chapters I didn’t fully enjoyed at first, but what a crazy silly hilarious story.
Of course I will never meet a Zeus or a Joey in my life but how I liked them.
Joey is the mother of all the B°d°SS, she is incredible!
Nearly nothing scares her, except letting go and opening her heart.
And Zeus, he is so much more than muscles on muscles, but like too big/strong persons, few sees what lays behind his facade.
He made me swooning, who wouldn’t want a man who would never give up even if faith seems against him, and how sweet he was, taking the whole package Joey/Miss Spitfire is without rejecting any part.
We have two incredible talented and strong people with depth scars, Joey who fears to be left behind and Zeus who wants to be seen and appreciate otherwise for his physical appearance.
The plot goes fast with insane moments every after silly ones but the H and h are hardheads and nothing, even if everything seems against them, will stand on their way.
They were made for each other, and accept who they are without trying to change anything.
To sum up, an hilarious read with crazy characters.
I received an ARC and also preordered this book on amazon.fr , here is my true and honest review.

Not the first book I've read by this author and I was very pleased with each one.this one was just as good if not better. I had a smile on my face all the time and my fits of laughter were often met with a confused stare from my husband who has been questioning my sanity for years. Totally worth it !
