The Break-Up Bet Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 1,524 ratings

Never make a bet with a man who plays to win...

Especially not a man like handsome, arrogant Connor Pratt.

AKA the huge PITA who’s currently crashing in my spare room.

AKA my brother’s best friend since they were about six.

AKA the one guy who still makes me feel like an awkward tongue-tied loser.

But when Connor moved in, I got a glimpse of another side of him. Because, like me, Connor’s going through a nasty break-up. And, like me, he’s just doing whatever he can to get through it.

Unfortunately, his method involves drinking alarming amounts of whiskey and watching a lot of, um …
movies … that make every inch of my skin flush.

I’m just trying to be helpful when I tell him that he should try my method: copious amounts of baked goods, sappy romantic comedies, and late nights spent whining with girlfriends.

But I should have known Connor would take that as a challenge.

Now, he says he’ll try my way of dealing with a break-up … but only if I agree to try his. Six month's rent to the person whose method works best.

We call it the break-up bet. And I’m going to win. Except right now, it feels like there’s a whole lot more at stake than just rent money…

Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction book blog.
So after reading the blurb and then feasting on the deliciousness that is the cover, I knew I had to read this book.
And boy, I wasn't disappointed at all. Hilariously funny at times - mainly due to Lucy. She is such a gorgeous woman. She is so quirky at times, I felt myself crushing on her throughout the story. I liked that she is just a genuine person. She didn't try to be something she wasn't or decided to change herself to please others. Especially her douche ex Lou. I think she dodged a bullet there.
Then there is Connor. If I was crushing on Lucy, then I must of fell a little in love with him. He was my favourite character in the story. Sure he may be nice to look at, but it was how he treated Lucy and what a great person he is stood out the most to me.
Hopefully there will be a book for Tess coming soon.

I am freely leaving a review on the Rule Breaker. I was a fantastic book, from beginning to end. Made me smile or laugh so much. Some folks thought I was going mad. Great to read about child hood crutch ,turning into a full on romance. Lots of twists and turns in the story. You have just got to keep reading.

It seems like I’ve been waiting forever for Lucy's story, so I was thrilled to read an early copy of this book! I adored Lucy when I met her previously because, let’s face it, any gal who can make a living writing a baking blog certainly has something going for her. Plus, chocolate. Need I say more? Lucy's roommate has found love and moved out, and Lucy is looking for a new roommate. Also, her boyfriend of three years recently broke up with her, so she's had some major changes in her life. Her brother's best friend, Connor, has experienced similar heartbreak and has had enough of his life in Silicon Valley, so he's moving back East and needs a place to stay.

Lucy has known Connor since she was fifteen, and we won’t mention the crush she had on him back then, so living with her brother's best friend should be no big deal, right? And it's not. Until it is. It all starts with their break-up bet, where Lucy will teach him how women get over break ups, and Connor will teach Lucy how to put her ex behind her the way guys do. Let's just say Connor's way of getting over a break up leads to some interesting hands-on, together time for Lucy and Connor.

Carmine is an author I’ve been reading since she first started publishing, and every new book is better than the last. With endearing characters and lots of light-hearted, sexy fun, Carmine also infuses this book with plenty of poignant tenderness to tug the heart strings throughout the lighter scenes. I adored Connor, who seems too laid back to ever take anything seriously but has a deeper, honorable side with a hint of vulnerability. He and Lucy are just perfect together, and their story is everything I love in a romantic comedy and more than I expected. Don’t miss this fun, steamy and heart-felt read!

4.0 out of 5 stars A fun rom com

I enjoyed this story. It was funny and sweet but the sexy scenes were so so hot. Lucy is living on her own and needs a roommate to share the living expenses. Connor is her brothers BFF since school and needs a place to stay. Both have recently been dumped and come up with a plan or bet to see who can get over their exes and move on while using the others advice. A fun rom com. I will definitely read more of this series.

This is not a good book. I hate how the author fails to let go of the stereotypical sappy book storyline. It feels as if they downloaded any boring romance novel and simply swapped out the names. What bothers me the most is that the proragonist is so flat stupid and consists of exavtly two things - baking and daddy issues
Harping on about this one aspect for however many pages this crap has is just offending for any person with more than two braincells to rub together.

Connor and Lucy are both great characters. She’s funny and sarcastic. He’s sweet and sexy.

They show that break-ups aren’t always a bad thing. They can lead to something better.

Nice ending as they combine her love of food blogging with his tech expertise. Fun read!
