I was looking for an Alexa Riley book when I noticed this.
I should mention that I use Alexa’s books like posh restaurants use sorbet. If I’ve read a long series, a darker book or just a book I think I will struggle to move on from I reach for Alexa. You always know what you’re getting. They’re short, sweet and smutty. The perfect palate cleanser if you will.
The cover caught my eye (because it’s fabulous) so I decided to try this instead.
It’s safe to say I was disappointed. Now I need an Alexa book to move on from this.
It features two supposedly intelligent people madly in love. How they get manoeuvred like they do is unbelievable. And yes I know it’s not a book to be taken seriously but still?
Anyway with the exception of a brief introduction this is one long sex scene. Now don’t get me wrong I like a sex scene as much as anyone else. But there’s such a thing as balance.
I feel cheated.

This was a pretty decent quick, sexy read. This is the story of Brooks and Leanna who were separated by her fathers lies. Once he reclaims his wife there is a lot of sex, a lot. A little too much. I would have liked a little more story. I also wish Leanna wouldn’t have caved to her lust when he reappeared at the restaurant. I wanted her to be a little stronger and demand answers first before succumbing to his charms. She did think he cheated on her, a little more fight would have been nice. Otherwise a good story that is completely safe. Both were celibate during their separation.

Just Aweful
Who are these people who have praised this book? Not only did it lack any type of true plot, what little there was of a story line was so juvenile and underdeveloped it was almost comical. Sure, the author has pages of erotica but even that was repetitive and just plain boring. How on earth is this book on the Amazon charts? Maybe being free to Kindle Unlimited could explain it. Still, I feel cheated for the 15 minutes it took to read this book.

Second read by this author and again, following my notes from the first book I read, the phrase "big cock" or "big fat cock" was repeated countless times. So much it was absolutely ridiculous. Maybe she can find another catch phrase? She was also a fan of using "pretty little pussy" a lot. *insert many many eye rolls*

I am a vast Madison Faye reader, and I don't remember a story of hers I have not enjoyed. But this one, I did not find appealing at all.
We find a couple that has been away from each other for three years due to Leanna's father telling both of them different lies to keep them apart. When Brooks comes to take his wife back things heat up fast.
The reason I gave this story 3 1/2 stars is there isn't any conflict. This story just is. Leanna takes Brooks back and takes his word for it. After three years. I don't know it was to easy.

Soooo I liked this but I definitely didn’t love it. It felt a little disjointed to me. But as with all Madison Faye books this is still worth a read. It’s safe, short and steamy.
Brooks O’Neill has spent a three years separated from his wife the first two he was working on her father’s oil rig trying to prove himself worthy of the woman he loved beyond comprehension. The two years apart he and his wife Leanna emailed, texted and video called and all of sudden he was greeted with radio silence and received divorce papers. Heartbroken and unable to contact the only person he has ever loved he quits and goes off to make his mark on the world in the hope of winning back the woman of his dreams. It’s a year later after they have been officially apart for a year when he learns that everything he’s believed was a lie, he and Leanna are still married and he’s back to claim his wife. She’s his always was and always will be and her father will not stop him this time.
Leanna never needed Brooks to be anything other than the man he already was, they had everything they could ever need a home and each other but she supported him when he said he needed to work on the oil rig and was prepared to wait the three years. Speaking to him every day and knowing the love they shared was alive until the day that he ghosted her, unable to contact him via phone or email here father turns up with photographs of him with another woman and the email she received telling her he loved someone else devastated her beyond belief. Trying to move on with her life she can never go long without thinking of him and then he is there in front of her a different man than she remembers, looking a million dollars in a designer suit and whisking her away in a private helicopter, but he is still hers in all the ways that count and when she finds out that her father lied there is only one thing that matters making up for lost time. This time nothing will come between them and their love.
It’s not a bad story but I would have liked it to be a little more story to it and an epilogue further in to their lives.

So Im going to say something that idk if I've ever said before....is it possible there is just to much sex? I mean I enjoyed the hell out of this book. But it was 98% descriptive dirty talking sex. I don't really know if thats a real "but".
So they are in love. But bitty of them got messages Fein the other that it was over while he was away working. So a year has passed. And he finds out the truth from an ex employee of the company who admits there was a lie or many involved to trick them into seperating. He is pissed and goes to get his woman back...which is so stinking hot btw.
Shirt quick read with lots of sex and a very happy ending.

Don't make me roll my eyes this much
I keep coming back to this author's short little stories because I like to read this kind of thing in between other, longer books, but I just can't do it anymore. It's not just the unrealistic non stop sex and dialogue that sounds like it was written by a frat boy. But come on, he not only finds her old wedding ring by using geological surveys and divers checking the currents and scours pawn shops till he finds it, he does it all in the two days since he found out that she didn't really divorce him, while he tracked her down and had their old house cleaned. I just can't suspend belief this much any more. Not to mention the non stop screaming and moaning.

Madison Faye brings us a short, quick scorching read, though implausible. It’s light on plot and contains lots of over-the-top sex scenes. Out 10 chapters I think 8 was pure sex and dialogue. It’s been a while since I’ve read a book from this author, but I know her style. Let’s just say this story is like literary sorbet. It will cleanse your palate from your last book hangover and make you ready for the next meaty romance.

Taking Back His Bride was just what I needed to remind me why I enjoy Madison Faye. Sometimes it's difficult to develop tension in a relationship that's already been established (such as a marriage), but she did a wonderful job with Brooks and Leanna's story. He was so fiercely possessive and they both were so intensely in love with each other and I love how that came through even though the book was predominantly sexy bits. I think that's what's been missing for me in recent books by the author - I know I'm going to get copious amounts of steam, but I do enjoy at least a little emotion with it and she served it perfectly here. 3.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

I have read many of Madison Faye's books and have enjoyed each one of them, but I really, really loved Taking Back His Bride. I loved that this story didn't drag on forever before the hero and heroine found their way back to each other. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves quick, fast-paced, and hot second chance romance stories featuring a dirty-talking gorgeous alpha male and the woman he loves.

This is an opposites attract read. Brooks is a blue-collar guy and Leanna a rich girl. They are married and happy until someone breaks them apart. Now Brooks will do whatever it takes to get his wife back. Fast-paced with plenty of drama and steamy. I really liked it.

Leanna and Brook's book is so hot... I loved it the story is about Brooks coming back for his wife after both were told a bunch of lies. Its well written an easy read and will leave you swooning.
