Violet Marcus’s life is settled. She has it all: a place of her own, a business where her temper has its uses, and great people who work for her.
But something is missing. The problem is, her stubbornness refuses to admit how lonely she actually is.
She lost the one man she thought she could marry, a university love, but when their careers drive them in different directions they went their separate ways.
Now he’s back.
He’s also changed.
Unsure if she wants to hug him or throat punch him, she keeps her distance. Or tries to.

Travis Stewart moves to Ballarat for one reason—to have Violet back in his life. His love has never diminished. Not through the years, the distance, or even in the underworld he finds himself a part of.
He will always love her.
Now he just has to convince Violet that his heart is hers, and his soul isn’t as black as it seems.
His mission is simple: get Violet to understand they have a future together before getting kneed in the balls. Easy, especially as he refuses to be outplayed.

This was not great. She's the love of his life supposedly, yet her get another woman pregnant and marries her. Then to top it off he moves to her town and his current girlfriend follows. I'm calling b.s. on his internal love. Not mention there only date. He looks like a liar and a possible cheat. She looks like a doormat.

Another one for the pile, celibate heroine who only has her work/no one else can touch her like the hero and the hero dated/loved/married/had children with plenty of women who could touch him just fine all while proclaiming to love heroine, but dont worry per the sample he doesnt really get off on the woman he is currently dating, that should make everything better, huh? 🙄

I will never understand how female authors write this crap, and the fact dishonest ARC reviewers try to gloss over these types of things in their reviews all for a free book KNOWING readers dont like it and would want to know if those plot points are there.

FINALLY WE GET TRAVIS AND VIOLETS STORY!!.
This has been a loooooooooooooooong time coming.

GAHHH, where to begin.

Ok so their story is of course set back in time to the same timeline as Zara and Talons book.

Talk about a blast from the past ah.

Do you know what?. This is what I wanted/needed. Their story told by them. Being able to emotionally connect to them as characters. I now have a new fav Lila hero in Travis. He's an ass but a swoon worthy ass.

So this is second chance romance eat your freaking heart out. They are soul mates, there's no doubt about that shit. Uni sweethearts that just didn't have great timing. They parted ways but both of them knew clear as day that they were IT for eachother.

"Daddy, who's this lady?" She held up the frame as I got to her side. My heart jumped.
Violet.
Gently, I picked Izzy up, sat in her spot on my desk chair, and placed her on my lap. "Her name is violet."
"Why do you have her picture?"
I tucked her hair behind her ear and kissed her temple. "She was the one women I loved with my whole heart. Unfortunately, work got in the way and I lost the chance of my happy ever after."
She was quiet for a moment. "She's real pretty, daddy."
"I know, princess."

SIGHHHHHHH. So sweet it'll give you a damn toothache.

These two were ment to be. However, they had ALOT of shit to sort though before either of them could move forward.

Violet is a strong ass independent women who doesn't need a man to save her but still has that soft sweet under her amour that melts at the sight of Travis and his sweet baby girl Izzy.
Travis is your unconventional alpha hero. What's on the surface doesn't count because he has so much hidden depth, you'll be digging that sweet up for a life time and still never reach the bottom.
Remember never judge a book by its cover because despite knowing his work you still know nothing. Not even close.

They had this palpable, raw chemistry that burst through the pages from the moment they were put together. They didn't play nice in the beginning and both of them made mistakes but I've got to say as the story progressed, the character growth both separately as well as together is magical. They grew up and made sacrifices for the things and ones they loved and boy.. they loved hard. Their story was easy to fall in love with because it wasn't perfect. It was uniquely them.

I love all the characters. It's one hugely dysfunctional family that get up to all kinds of outrageous and equally hilarious shenanigans. You feel the connection between them all. Live for the bickering and banter. Laugh at the crazy. Hurt for the heartbreak and melt at the love.

Also Link. He stole a piece of my heart. I love me a meddling best friend that can't help but try and fix things in their own special way.

As always with Lila's stories, she never disappoints. It's everything and more I could have imagined and definitely the missing piece to the puzzle. I'm so glad she gave us their story. They deserved to have it heard and I loved reading it.

Swoon worthy romance. Hot alpha guy and crazy kickass heroine. Lovable side characters. A well thought out story that fits seamlessly into an already written world. So much goodness, what's not to love?.

This is Violet and Travis’ story. This story is interconnected from the Hawks’ MC series, and that is where we met these two characters. These two have been apart for years, and now Travis is back determined to get Violet. Can these two overcome the many issues, and can their love withstand this? This is a wonderful story which is a sweet second chance romance. I was captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I did not want the story to end. I recommend this talented author’s work for all.

Nothing says I've always loved you then sleeping others. I'd rather them say they were just friends then later see each other differently. He moved on and had a child. Then was with another woman when he moved knowing Violet was around. Didn't like it.

A quick second chance romance. Since this was a short story, it didn't go deep into Travis and Violet background the way I wanted it to. But the little story did show how much they love each other, not years apart could take away. They were a sweet and a little dirty. And I just love Travis's little girl, she was too sweet. I recommend this to anyone looking for a short second chance romance.

It's finally time for Vi and Travis' story! We met both of them in Talon and Zara's story, and even though they were peripheral characters, they both played a huge part in that story. We found out just enough about them, and their past, to whet my curiosity! And now I know!

Vi is a private investigator, and the sister of Talon. Years ago, they had a falling out, over his involvement in the Hawks MC, which wasn't exactly legit at the time. Because both are stubborn, the rift between them dragged on for years, leaving Vi pretty much on her own. She built her business, and formed her own sort of family with the guys she employed in her agency. She knew they had her back, but there was still something missing, something she had in the past, that left a hole in her life.

Travis is an enigma. Not much is said about him, or his past in Talon and Zara's story. But so much is revealed in Outplayed, that I had several "Aha!" moments, and things started to make more sense about Travis, and his actions. I can only say, he has strong feelings for Vi, and is determined to make a place for himself in her life!

This book can totally be read on its own, as it's a complete story. However, the events take place concurrently with those from Holding Out, giving you another viewpoint of those events. The story, to me, seems so much richer, and fuller if you have already immersed yourself in the world of the Hawks MC. So much is explained, and I'm so glad Vi and Travis found their HEA! (and I totally cried a tear for Richard during his scene!)

DNF
===

The woman I had been dating fell pregnant, and everything changed from then on.

Shit, I was even dating someone now, but I couldn’t stand the woman any longer.

She interested me enough to want more than just casual sex. Only time told me I’d made a mistake when she became money hungry.

She’d been the only girlfriend to meet Izzy, which I regretted, but it was by accident.

But I wasn’t thinking of him and how I knew he was living in Ballarat. I refused to know where he actually lived.

Only I knew, from searching, what his life was like nowadays, and I didn’t want any part of it, or him.

He wasn’t worth it. He would never give up his business, and I was pretty sure I couldn’t be with a man who was known as the biggest pimp in Victoria.

There was also the fact I had to get rid of Pam.

I always wanted to know more about VI and Travis. Even in the first book of this series, you could FEEL the chemistry oozing off of these 2 so I was hoping they would get their own story, and they did! Loved it from start to finish. Even though it coincided with the first book it still had a story of its own.

I wanted this story the moment, I meet Violet and Travis in Holding Out. Whitch seems it was millennia. And btw, you dont need to read Zara and Talon book (Holding Out), but reading some snippets from that book here, you will want to read it. I want to reread it.
At the beginning, I wasn't sure how to feel about Violet and Travis. There were a couple of things with both of them, that bothered me. I just couldn't make up my mind about those things. Does it bothers me that much, or I just need to let it go? I guess, at the end I moved on.
Their separation... This is one of the reasons, why I'm not a big fan with second chance romance. Most of the time, separations reason is just stupid. While, I'm good with Travis & Violet reason, I couldn't help but wonder, wasn't there another choice for them? Or it just wasn't theirs time?
In all, I liked them together. They fit. It did felt like long time coming. I almost felt 'Finally!' shouted. Lol.

I really wanted to enjoy this story. The cover grabbed me, and the blurb definitely had me hooked, so when it released, I grabbed it and dived right in. Sadly I was left a little disappointed in this book.

Outplayed is a second chance romance that focuses on Travis and Violet. Violet is a PI and works to keep people above the law and criminals off the street. Travis on the other hand works in the underbelly of the law, but that won’t stop him from trying to get Violet back now that he’s back in town. When the two of them cross paths, Violet doesn’t know what to do. She’s still attracted to him, but she knows who he is now, and doesn’t want anything to do with him because of it, but Travis won’t stop at anything to get her back.

The chemistry between Violet and Travis isn’t the problem in this book, the problem I had with this story, was their story seemed choppy and not very well defined. We would start to get in depth and things would go really well, and then boom, something changed and it would be glossed over and then another drama or something else would happen. This story seemed to only scratch the surface of their story and never really got in depth with anything real. Travis said he loved her, over and over again, and that she was the love of his life, but yet he would go and do stupid things to ruin his chance with her. Violet on the other hand would stick to her guns, then Travis would do something and she would forget everything that she wanted to stay away from him for.

If we would have gotten more in depth in this book, I think I would have enjoyed it more, but since everything seemed so quick and there wasn’t any real meat to this story, it was hard for me to connect with the characters and truly enjoy this story. I do know it is a spin off of another series, so maybe in those books we get more of Violet and Travis, but I didn’t know that going in, so that would have been helpful.

I have been waiting for this book ever since I started reading the whole Hawks MC series a few years ago. Violet and Travis. So much was hinted and yet nothing was said and everything left me waiting. When I finally got Outplayed on my Kindle I was STOKED and could not wait to start. I wanted to know EVERYTHING. I was a bit disappointed that the book was only novella length, but nevertheless I enjoyed reading the book.
The two main characters Travis and Violet were already known. We saw them on multiple occasions throughout the other books and I was happy to see that they were as lovable and real as they appeared before. Both of them seemed more mature than most other characters in the Hawks MC books which suited me just fine. They still provided hilarious dialogue and funny scenes as well as more thoughtful ones and I especially liked how strong Violet was. She wasn’t having Travis’ crap and called him out on it. To his defense: He knew when he made a mistake and really worked for her forgiveness. Throw in Travis daughter and the chaos was perfect. I enjoyed seeing both characters grow and reconnect, but I wished for more glimpses in the past. I would have liked to see them when they were at college and decided how to go on with their lives.
The writing style was good and fluent and let me read the book easily. I could connect with the characters and their feelings and actions were understandable. As all books in the Hawks MC series this one can be read as a standalone, but I guarantee you, you will want to read the other books when you start with this one.

•••Spoilers but not as many•••

That’s cute when Link said that Izzy wanted to do his hair I had to laugh at that part. Hopefully kind of sort of maybe Link would get a book too.... especially if he keeps popping up in this one...

But anyways; I really liked this book; and was glad that Talon sister Violet found herself love again with her ex-boyfriend Travis. At first, I was like who in the world is Travis when the author stated this book would be out this month. I had to go back to “Holding Out” with Talon and Zara... to figure out who Travis was 😂 I’m like ooooh he the guy that kidnapped Zara and was Violet old fling... but thank god he got rid of Pam... I didn’t even like her in Holding Out when she accused Zara of attacking her when Zara did no such thing! Plus; it’s hilarious how people kept popping up at Travis house unannounced like dang he needed better security because they surely do suck anyone can come into his house. At any time of the day... like dang!!! But at least in the end both Violet and Travis found each other, and more Violet accepted that she did still care for Travis, and her brother Talon accepted it though he doesn’t want Travis to hurt her which I understand.. & Izzy got a mother (step-mom) in the end...

P.S. I’m ready for the author to write the books about the children.... because I swear Maya and Texas might hook up... because when I was reading OutGamed, I was like hmm... it’s something there...

Oh yay, here we get to see Violet and Travis get their second chance. We saw the chemistry, and got a tiny bit of backstory to the pair, all the way back in the very first Hawks MC book: Holding Out. Well now we get to see what happened between the pair once they left Talon and Zara's book. Violet and Travis obviously still love each other, despite being apart for many years. Will all their issues be resolved enough for Violet to give them the second chance that Travis is so desperate for?

I wanted this book all the way back when we first met them. We knew there was a story there, we just wanted to see it, so thank you very much to the persistent fan that convinced Lila Rose to tell it. I really enjoyed this and it put me in the mood for a reread, lol. I give Outplayed 4.5 stars.

For anyone that has read this series, we know just a tiny bit of how the Violet and Marcus situation plays out. Lila Rose finally gives us a novella that gives us more of those juicy details of how the two went their separate ways, and just how Marcus gets Violet back after all those years. My only complaint was I wanted more, like a lot more of Marcus and Violet, but what we do get packs a quick punch. Drama, danger, and of course it wouldn't be Lila Rose without a super hot naughty bit! I give this 4.5 stars.

Outplayed is a standalone, but interconnected with the Hawks MC series. These characters were seen in the series, but you never knew their story and now you do. I have not read the full series and found that you can easily follow along without feeling left out. This is a quick read, but leaves you laughing and feeling like you just got Outplayed as well. Too funny!
Violet is the sister of Talon (MC president) and a PI. A successful one at that. Travis is part of the MC and his job is a shocker to all of us. Let's leave it at that. They share a past and he knew he messed up. Now he's back for Violet. She calls him out on his crap and he may just end up with some blue balls (not the way you think either).
I love how Violet was Outplayed and it may or may not have been by Travis. They shared a connection then and they continue to share this now even with all the time apart. While it was sad to endure the pain/loss they had with the events that unfolded it allowed them to grow as a person and for a little something to be brought into their lives (so full of sunshine!) Can Travis's job be a deciding factor on if they get a second chance at their HEA? I enjoyed that even though it was a short story, it felt like a full story for them (hope that makes sense). I will say that I am happy that Violet got some much needed closure on not only Travis, but from Talon as well. Long overdue if you ask me!

Violet & Travis

I really enjoy reading Lila Rose. Her whole series of books revolving around the Hawks MC feels like they are written about people I know and care about. All the characters and their stories have interwoven to form a special place in my heart. As such it’s nice to get a novella that fills in some gaps in the story.

Violet is Talon’s sister and a private detective. We learn that she has been estranged from her brother because of the dubious nature of the Hawks MC from before Talon took over as President. She wants to get back in touch now he’s clean but is stubborn and doesn’t want to be the one to reach out first.

Violet has been alone for the 10 years after her college sweetheart left to work in an another city and they lost touch. That sweetheart, Travis, has always held a special place in her heart and she knew she would never love anyone as much as she had him. Now Travis is back and he wants another chance, only this time he’s brought his daughter with him, along with illegal business dealings.

Violet has to decide if she can forgive him enough to take another chance on loving Travis. Travis will do anything in his power to make it happen.

In previous books we learn about Violet and Travis and it’s really nice to have all the back story explained. I like Violet’s character a lot and it’s nice to understand her a little better through this book.

First things first; I love the cover of this book!
Outplayed is Violet’s story. I feel like I have waited forever for her story and boy, it didn’t disappoint! This story is short, fast paced and an enjoyable second chance romance. This story is Violet and Travis’s story. We have met Violet in the hawks MC stories, especially the earlier ones. Violet is Talon’s sister. Travis is someone from Violet’s past. They were once in love and inseparable until they went their separate ways. Years later and Violet is a successful P.I. and Talon is a dangerous businessman and a pimp. When Travis moves back to town, he is determined to get the woman he loves back. In this story we get to see them share moments and give their love a second chance. That being said, not everything is smooth running but it is worth it eventually.
The chemistry between Violet and Travis is clear to see and I really liked them as a couple. They had their ups and downs but I loved their journey.
I love the bond Violet had with Izzy. I liked how quickly they got along.
One last thing; I loved seeing Talon and Violet super protective of one another even though they had just returned into each others life’s.
The storyline for this book is easy to follow and an enjoyable read. I cannot wait for more from Lila Rose.

So glad these two got a book my only complaint is that it wasn't longer! I'd have loved to have seen how they met but to be honest i can never get enough of this series so i expected i would want more!

Violet can be as volatile as her brother but i loved her! She does go off on one and she takes the space she needs but does eventually think about things and does the right thing. She was right to be wary of Travis. Without knowing the background anyone would be the same but i loved how once she knew she got it. She got the whys and i loved how she accepted it.

Travis was perfect for her because he would never give up. She needed someone who would let her have her space but also wouldn't let her get away with it for too long. I felt sorry for both of them at points for all the wasted time but then i guess we wouldn't have had adorable Izzy if they would have stayed together. I also loved how he was prepared to do anything to keep her. He made me swoon!

This was a great addition to the series. It filled some gaps and made me super happy. Being a novella there wasn't a big storyline and we'd seen some of it but i loved it just the same. This series is unbelievable and i highly recommend it to anyone. It's amazing and i never want it to end!

Finally, finally we get Travis and Violet’s story! Ah so good too, this novella wraps everything up, explains things well and leaves you feeling fantastic.

Travis is quite a complex character and although not one I immediately loved before it was because I didn’t know him but I was intrigued by him. Now I know him better, 😂 I can honestly say he is a man of integrity yet still one who stuffs up- sorry guys but that’s men for you! 😉

Violet is a character who has always been intriguing as well, so it’s no wonder they are a great match! She has a high moral code and stands by it no matter who you are, family, friends or strangers...something I admire her for as it’s not often people really stand strong for their convictions when push comes to shove. These two characters show growth and maturity but also a vulnerability that is enduring.

Many of the appropriate secondary characters that are in the series make appearance and they are always wonderful too. I do think Izzy steals the show a bit though, she is adorable!

Another great addition to this fabulous series by this talented author.

Although this can be read as a stand-alone, it follows alongside the events in Holding Out, the first book in the Hawks MC (Ballarat Charter) series. I went back and read that first and felt it gave me a better understanding of this novella (I also fell down the proverbial rabbit hole and devoured the entire series, and that of the Caroline Springs spin off series).

This book sits well within the Hawks MC family and gives extra colour to a lot of the characters in that series (as well as being a great story in its own right). Having the benefit of coming to the whole series at this point, I can see that the story of Violet and Travis may have been long overdue. If I’d read all of the books before coming to this, I would have been anxious for this piece of the puzzle to be unveiled.

Violet, the sister of Hawks MC president Talon, has the chance to confront the past when Travis reappears in her life after years apart. He’s no longer the man she remembers; but she’s no longer the girl he left behind either. Watching this second chance romance spark into life is a great read.

Outplayed by Lila Rose is the story of Travis Stewart and Violet Marcus.
Violet 'Vi' is the sister of Talon who was the main hero in the first book (Holding Out) in the 'Hawks Motorcycle Club Series', in addition to being the President of the club. I have read that first book and truly loved it but I do feel you can make this a standalone if you wish to do so. Vi is a private investigator with her own business and her newly building up a relationship with her brother but she feels that something is is missing she hasn't had but touched on it once with Travis. But they both decided to put their careers first which ended up keeping them apart. Travis has went on to other relationships and even has a daughter but no one had his heart like Violet. Travis has always been in love with Violet from the start, but situations and emotions have kept them apart. But Travis isn't let anything get in his way now...not even Violet.

I have wanted this book since the very beginning! Way back to Talon and Zara. I mean how can you not want to know more about Violet Marcus, the gun toting PI, and her first love aka the biggest pimp known as Travis Stewart?!

If you are familiar with Lila Rose's Hawks MC series then you know all about Violet and Travis but not how they ended up working through their differences and able to finally be together.

Well now we do!! This novella was everything we needed it to be in order for us to finally see how they reconnected and how Travis was finally able to bust through Violet's no nonsense demeanor. Not to mention what it was that lead Travis down the road to being a pimp.

If you are like me and love everything Lila Rose but also have been craving the story of Violet and Travis then you need this novella and you wont be disappointed!
