About the author

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn't stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she reads any book she can get her hands on and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.
She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.

- Reviewed in Australia on 23 January 2020Verified PurchaseI normally don’t read novellas as they’re usually too short to have any sort of depth or proper story to them, but I love Noelle Adam’s other books so I thought I’d give this one a try. I’m glad I did! While short it still had enough depth of emotion and storyline to keep me hooked (and lament when it was over!) Looking forward to the next book about Beck.
- Reviewed in Australia on 19 July 2019Verified PurchaseI love Noelle Adam’s books, I tend to one click them as I know I’ll get mature characters, a real story with just enough sweetness and steam.
‘Carpool’ is the first novel in the Milford College series by Noelle Adams and is all I had expected for this talented author. The main characters are Jennifer and Marcus. She grew up being the good girl who was always warned about the bad boy aka Marcus. He changed over the years, and is respectable and mature now... but she hasn’t let the obnoxious teenage past go. At least not in the beginning when she is forced to ask him if she can carpool since her own car needs to be fixed.
I really liked Jennifer right away, but she had a few quirks about her, she was very serious and buttoned up. Marcus, may seem like a typical bad boy, but he is so much more underneath. Once the sparks fly between these two, there is no going back.
‘He wants me. Jennifer Raleigh. Good girl all her life. Never taking any risks. Until now. He wants me, evidently exactly as I am.’
There is a bit of angst along the way, but there is so much passion and chemistry that make up for it. Great families and friends... Thanks Noelle...

- Reviewed in Australia on 20 July 2019Verified PurchaseAnother great story by Noelle Adams. Her characters are so easy to relate too. And these two were so perfect for each other that you wonder why it took them so long to work it out. So glad they did.
- Reviewed in Australia on 25 February 2020Verified PurchaseJust loved it. Going from not liking to happy ending.
- Reviewed in Australia on 16 September 2023Verified PurchaseThis is the second book by this author that I could not finish. There was nothing captivating about the characters or the plot, and the writing style was amateur. I stopped reading because life is too short to waste time on boring books.
I've learned from experience that a tagline on the cover announcing a NYT or USA Today Bestselling Author carries very little meaning if the book doesn't live up to the expectations of those titles.

- Reviewed in Australia on 22 January 2020Verified PurchaseNoelle Adams has written a cracker!
It is told mostly in dialogue, which is a real art to do well.
Marcus and Jennifer have lived in the same town all of their lives. But as a teen, Marcus was a rather obnoxious bad boy, while Jennifer has been studious and quiet - a good girl.
Jennifer struggles financially due to student loans, living expenses and the cost of nursing home care for her beloved grandmother, who brought her up. So when her car stops working and needs expensive repairs, she gets a local retired mechanic to fix it on the cheap and when he has time.
Her dilemma is that she works at the university that is a 45 minute drive away, and no one else drives there from her town...except the handsome and enigmatic Marcus.
When she plucks up the courage to ask him to carpool with her, he accepts.
She has always felt that Marcus was laughing at her, but as time goes by and they share the intimacy of the confined space in his truck, talk gets easier and something starts to bloom.
when sparks ignite and things turn physical between them, they both agree that it is casual. Marcus has never had anything but casual, anyway.
Tell that to their hearts!
Such a sweet and sexy love story with a heart-warming conclusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!
Verified PurchaseI am a big fan of any books that are written by Noelle Adams. I have to say every one of them is my favorite and holds a special place within me. There is something about this book that just holds so many truths especially in the world we are living in right now. I thought that Marcus and Jennifer were perfect for each other and I loved their story. I loved how they got to know each other and how honest they were with their feelings. The thing this book taught me that stays with me is that most people are looking for someone that really sees them for who they are inside and not just on the outside. I honestly think if we all did that maybe we would have better relationships with everyone that we have in our lives. This is a really great read. I would highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute and fun!
Verified PurchaseReread review:
What a great reread! I’d forgotten how much I loved watching this good girl fall for the bad boy. And who doesn’t love a good bad boy? But he’s so much more than what he appears on the surface. Watching their relationship evolve was wonderful and I’m so glad I took the time to reread this one!
This was so cute and fun with a low angst undercurrent to it. Who ever thought that carpooling could be so sexy?
When Jennifer’s car is in for repairs, she asks Marcus, the one person she’s always tried to avoid, if she can carpool with him to work. As the only two people in their small town that work 45 minutes away in Milford, she’s desperate for him to agree. Their relationship starts off awkward, sometimes frustrating, and definitely aggravating, but quickly changes to something deeper as they begin to open up to one another.
Jennifer was always the good girl, in her family and in her town. She’d not only been told about that bad boy Marcus, she’d seen some of it firsthand. I enjoyed watching her perception of him change even as her feelings for him began to morph into more.
”For some reason, this man can tempt me to do things I’d never consider before. My grandmother was right all along about how dangerous he is.”
We never really get a chance to get to know Marcus as this is written in the heroine’s point of view. However, there are lots of subtle hints that allow us to guess as to what he’s feeling. I loved the way he challenged Jennifer to reach for more out of life. In contrast, she helped him to see the need for family and community.
While the chemistry between them is a bit lacking in the beginning, as they move forward it begins to sizzle and build until my Kindle was on fire. You will be able to read this in one sitting if you desire, and I did. The characters are sweet and caring, both with their own quirks that helped them to shine. Secondary characters are minimal, with the exception of Jennifer’s best friend – I’m pretty sure her story will be up next. Definitely a fresh and original story by a master story teller!

4.0 out of 5 stars Clichéd but upfront about it and gets better in the second half
Verified PurchaseI wasn't going to give it 4 stars, but something clicked in the storytelling. Initially, it seemed to be a serviceable romantic drama with a predictable end.
The weird thing is that it is that and yet it managed to charm me as it went along. For a first person narrative, it gives quite a good amount of insights into the the clichéd playboy of the small town that people want girls to run from. The good girl of the book is clichéd and has plenty character details.
It's not going to be a life changing book and I don't think it wants to be.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfectly enjoyable book
Verified PurchaseThis is a charming and amusing romantic story. The characters are carefully and sympathetically drawn and the story is well written. I loved the subtle humour and the way that the writer gently leads us to get to know the characters without tedious lists of their characteristics. Noelle Adams is an accomplished author whose work is always worth reading. She excels at writing humourous stories that are both absorbing and entertaining. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute.
