description I honestly have little to say about this book because nothing much really happened. 🙈 They meet. 👫 They date. 🍴 They have sex. 🔥 They fall in love. 💑 They meet the parents. ☑ His Mom is a bitch for five minutes. 😠 The end. 🔚 Throw in an underdeveloped mystery plot with a baddie you could see from a mile away, and two cute pets, and you basically have the entire plot. 👀 I mean, it was OK. 👍 It was sweet, but my tastes have changed as of late and I need a little more "meat" in my stories. 🍗 This one was pretty much all fluff... 🍬

***3.5 STARS***

I am a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds especially after reading her Until Him/Her Series (highly recommend this series if you haven’t read it). So I was definitely looking forward to this new series How to Catch An Alpha.

Leah’s cat disappears into the empty house next door through an open window. Leah climbs through the window and is confronted with her new neighbor pointing a gun at her. Tyler just moved in and is surprised to see the half dressed woman standing in his home.

ARR is known for her insta-love novels especially from the heroes falling first and hard. This one is no exception, but in this case it seemed TOO fast. There was no conflict in their getting together. It just happened....and there was very little passion between the couple in my opinion, especially related to other books by ARR. I just did not enjoy this one as much as I hoped.

I still plan to read the rest of the series. I love ARR writing style and her alpha heroes.

I love this cover and Aurora Rose Reynold’s writing, so picking up this audiobook was a no-brainer for me. This was a fun and easy read that I listened to in a day.

Leah meets Tyler when he moves in next door. They have a spark right away and become fast friends. Friends turns into so much more very quickly as they fall hard and fast. I don’t mind insta-love and for some reason, in ARR books it just works for me so well. I loved the romance aspect of this story as well as the family dynamics.

I enjoy Aurora Rose Reynolds alpha heroes and strong heroines, but I am not always a fan of the obvious suspense element thrown in. Sometimes, I just want the romance and feel that it makes the story weaker adding that in. Or it could have just been my mood. Either way, I enjoyed this one, I just think it could have been better without that part.

If you’re looking for a fast paced, entertaining, sweet and steamy romance I recommend this one. I listened to the audio and it was great!

I did a re-read with the audiobook and the narrator was fantastic! I loved this just as much as I did the first time I read it.

This was filled with so much sugary goodness. It's low angst, funny with a protective alpha and a sweet heroine that you can't help but love. This is my favorite type of a light read. It's stress free but still delivers what I want in a book.

Tyler is a take charge alpha who knows what he wants and he wants Leah. Leah is a total sweetheart. She's the type of heroine that everyone just loves to be around. She has had some bad luck with past boyfriends and now she is taking her grandma's advice. No more chasing men. If they want her, they have to make a move and Tyler is the right man for the job.

We got so much couple time which I love to see in the books I read. There is also some really great side characters as well as some cute scenes with kids. I highly recommend this book, especially to readers who just want a fun, low angst read.

Great start to a new series!

I really enjoyed this sweet, heartfelt book that made me smile so big! Leah was so bright and cheerful, i couldn’t help but adore her (and her best friend Cassie). And Tyler…Sigh…He was delicious and simply perfect and just made for Leah. Their chemistry was undeniable and the steam was through the roof.

"You look amazing. You’re always beautiful and always have a way of stopping my breath and giving it back to me, but right now…" I shake my head. "Jesus, baby, you stop my heart from breathing."

Aurora Rose Reynolds is the queen of writing the perfect romance and alpha male goodness and this book certainly lived up to my expectations in that regard. The characters seem so real, the connections so true, and the families so welcoming. Just a great blend of all the things I love to read about. I enjoyed every second I spent with Leah and Tyler. There was not one moment in this story that I did not like. It was fast paced, sexy and hot and full of emotion. Can't wait for the second book in the series.

This was such a fun and sweet read and with all the angst I have been reading lately, this was just what the doctor ordered.

Tyler and Leah were extremely funny and cute together...and did I mention HOT, they were definitely HOT.
Tyler was everything one would look for in a book boyfriend... all delicious alpha goodness !!

Now I am gonna be honest here and say that I normally like a bit more angst in my story and a bit less sugary goodness, but in this case, it worked for me, especially because of all the angsty books I have been reading.

So if you are in the mood for something light, and sweet, cute and HOT.... you should really give this one a go. I am going with 3 - 3,5 stars ;)

I've read two Aurora Rose Reynolds books before this one and have yet to understand the hype of the author. This one looked like it was going to be a cute, fun romance, so I decided to give the author one final chance.

Everyone in Emerson's life wants her to settle down, but she hasn't found the right man yet. But when her cat breaks into her neighbor's house and she comes face to face with the hot new neighbor, Emerson is smitten. Tyler takes an immediate liking to Emerson and inserts himself into her life until Emerson can't ignore him anymore.

Ugh. I honestly just think Aurora Rose Reynolds is not my cup of tea. There were so many things about this book that had me rolling my eyes and on the verge of putting this book down from 30% onward. First was the dialogue. While I was reading this, the dialogue felt so stiff and there was no way I could imagine people actually talking like that. The characters would sit around and talk about nothing and I was bored most of the time of this book. I also wasn't a fan of Emerson at all and how clueless and immature she acted as a woman in her early 30s.

When it came to the romance, I was just not on board with this book. The pacing was weird and definitely insta-lovey. These guys were barely dating and telling each other I love you and meeting each other's families. There was a "mystery" thrown in at the end that was so obvious and random and I just wasn't a fan.

The only reason I even finished this book was because I received a copy for review. If I picked it up on my own, I would have put it down before the halfway point. I think I'm done with this author and her alpha males and insta love plot lines.

Catching Him is full of Aurora Rose Reynolds' usual sweetness and was a fun book to read. It was easy in that it didn't have a ton of drama or angst that overshadowed the romance between Leah and Tyler, and I really enjoyed that. There was some mystery thrown in with an unknown person coming after our main characters, but honestly I could have done without that. It didn't add anything to the story and I would have preferred the focus to have stayed on the romance. It wasn't a lot though and the story was still pretty light and the characters were likable throughout the entire book.

Overall, this was a fun and easy read with a ton of swoon worthy sweetness. I would certainly recommend reading it.

This book feels like home! I was in desperate need of a story that I could just chill with, assured I’d get all the alpha goodness I love as well a tiny touch of drama and all the swoony-ness I desire. I found it here.

description

The meeting between Tyler and Leah was hilarious, fun, cute and a bit sexy considering what Leah was not wearing. I love when a cute meet leads to a bit of embarrassment on the heroine’s part and that’s exactly what happens. But Tyler is that true alpha hero who knows what he wants when he sees it and he wants Leah. His courtship of her was too incredibly sweet, honest and real to be described. He wanted to work himself into her life and he set out to do exactly that.

”As much as I like just hanging with you, baby, you gotta know it’s killing me not to kiss you or touch you like I want to.”
Oh my God.
“I---“
“I wanted you to get to know me,” he says, cutting me off. “I wanted to be sure before I made a move.”

description

Obviously, I loved Tyler in all his protective, possessive alpha-ness. He checked every box I have for a perfect hero and some I didn’t know existed. Likewise, Leah was sweet, sincere, a bit leery going in that this guy was real but not to the point of it being an issue between them. She was fierce and independent but capable of compromising when needed and totally able to kick tail when required, much to Tyler’s dismay.

The chemistry between this couple sizzled and ignited to an all-consuming proportion the more time they spent together. As their relationship grew, the emotions of it grew as well and was a palpable thing that ignited across the pages. It was in all the little things that amounted to the total picture of a couple falling in love, embracing it, and dealing with what life threw at them in the process.

”You look amazing. You’re always beautiful and always have a way of stopping my breath and giving it back to me, but right now…” I shake my head. “Jesus, baby, you stop my heart from breathing.”

This is one of those books you’ll find yourself having read in one sitting and then despite the wonderful epilogue, disappointed that you’ve reached the end before you know it. There are some amazing secondary characters including Leah’s family that felt so much like my own I felt like I knew them personally.

Everything was going great. The H is the h’s new neighbor. It was cute first meet. And when her dinner burns while she goes off after her cat, the H takes her to eat out. I was excited for their dinner but all the scoop we get about the dinner is while the h is thinking about it the next day. No live details.

And then the next day she has a date with a guy who was her ex, which she don’t want to go but it was pre planned mostly by her mother so she has to go. We get the live details of that date.
How Funny.

Again that very same night the H invites himself at her house for beer. We get some talking between them and again its over and we are at next chapter.
What nonsense is this? I mean I don’t remember if the other books I read has the early meeting of the MCs fading to black. Maybe I didn’t care then but here I wanted the details. I wanted to hear about their interactions maybe till they say goodnight... Atleast there initial meetings.

So the book goes on with them spending time together. Then the H meeting h’s family and friend. Family is quite nosy and also happy that the h got a good guy. I skipped quite a bit of the family part. Because it was boring me. Finally the H and h starts dating.

I loved the h’s cat and H’s dog. Both of the pets were cute. Everything was going quite simple and sweet.

The h’s ex tries to create some drama.

This book is simple plain but sweet romance. No billionaires or millionaires here. The H is a foreman in a construction company and the h works at her granny’s salon.
The H is simple, sweet, funny, protective and possessive of the h. He is swoon. The h is likable too.

Everything was kinda sweet. So if you are in mood for some sweetness with zero to none angst then go for this book.

Leah Emerson is a beautiful 33 yr. old single woman that lives in the tourist town of Mount Pleasant in South Carolina. She works as a hair stylist at the salon she co-owns with her mom and grandma. The family business keeps her busy, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't like to find that special someone to share her life with. She's picky and won't settle for just any man. She wants Mr. Right. Then she unexpectedly meets a gorgeous, arrogant man that drives her crazy. Her free spirited cat keeps climbing into the window of the house next door that has been empty for months. Turns out she has a new neighbor named Tyler Duncan. She clashes right away with the alpha male hottie, and tries to avoid him, but soon he's all she can think about.

Tyler is new to town, and works in construction. He's there for work, and didn't plan on meeting a woman he would want so desperately. Never one to back down from a challenge, he goes after Leah with everything he has. Before long she can't resist him, and he makes her feel things she's never felt before with anyone else. He's slowly winning over her heart, but will she let herself fall in love?

-I really am starting to like him, even if he has the ability to annoy me like no one else I have ever met in my life.

-I've never been kissed like he's kissing me. I've never felt every single cell in my body light up and come alive from a kiss.

Spoilers ahead

The H former nurse now Hairdresser crawls into her former neighbor's home after her escapee cat only to come face to face with what is apparently her sexy new neighbor. She soon considers him a jerk and leaves only to realize that the dog on her front porch is none other than her sexy jerk neighbor. From cosy dinners to quirky pets these two go from friends to lovers. With family drama in the background and sudden acts of vandalism and arson the road to their hea gets bumpy!

Ok so quick points

Where was the POV of the H? This is a surprise coming from this author because there was very limited chapters from his POV especially in the beginning. Unfortunately this seriously impacted on my enjoyment

So many chapters devoted to day to day living leads to boredom. I mean do I seriously need to know that they got up showered went to work visited family and had dinner? I get that the relationship was building but really nothing much was happening

The H actually didn't turn into the usual ARR growly possessive Alpha until surprisingly later in the book. Since I read mostly for her version of an Alpha hero I honestly almost dnf

The suspense part of the plot was a bit OTT. She'd been on one damn date with the bad guy! One! The dated as teens but broke up seemingly amicably so why would he hire someone to commit all those criminal acts? Then for his Justice to be to move away because of the pressure on his dad's law form?!!!

The drama with the H's mother was unnecessary, I mean which mother wouldn't want to see her son advance professionally even if he had to move away to do it
*Sidenote- I didn't like knowing the H dated a lot

The h was tired of being the one chasing the guys or putting more effort into the relationship but I didn't feel that the H chased her per se. He was however nicely invested

The title made me think this'd be a room com(idk where I got THAT idea) I expected a quirky h and some fun banter man dammit

The epilogue saved things a bit for me

All in all an ok read but honestly if this were any other author my rating would definitely be lower

OM drama from a guy the h dated
She did run into her committment phobic ex
A secondary character was assaulted but the h, the badass, physically dealt with the idiot

*******
Some interesting secondary characters I'd be interested in reading about!

3.5 Super Sweet Stars

Leah’s a hardworking, animal loving single lady looking for love, minus the manipulations that normally come with it. Girlfriend is D-O-N-E with men playing games with her and she’s willing to bide her time until the right man comes along.

Tyler’s a hardworking, animal loving single guy ready to find a woman who won’t play games with his heart. As luck would have it, Tyler’s just bought the house next door to Leah’s. It also doesn’t hurt that both Tyler and Leah are gorgeous and light each other up like Christmas trees, even from the very first time Leah breaks into Tyler’s house and gets a gun pulled on her. It’s a long story.

Tyler knows within seconds Leah is the woman for him. Leah is attracted to Tyler but isn’t getting her hopes up. One guess as to how long that friendship remains platonic, folks.

Overall, I really enjoyed Catching Him. This is a sweet (almost to saccharine levels) story and while those normally aren’t my jam, I found myself loving Tyler and Leah together. I kept waiting for the other show to drop, where Tyler turns into a jackass and confesses to having a wife stashed away somewhere or something, but luckily that never happened.

Sugar helps make the world go ‘round, but after awhile I wanted something more. A little more angst, a little more drama, whatever. I lasted a surprisingly long time without the need for something besides Leah and Tyler’s perfect love, but eventually I found myself a little bored.

Catching Him is a cute little love story made just for those times you feel the need to take a hiatus from the drama normally found in romances. Tyler and Leah are a fabulous mix of sweet and hot and if they’re anything to go by, I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

Aurora Rose Reynolds is an auto one click insta read author. She writes the best romance. Every single one of her books has everything I need to make the book unputdownable. You have a feisty, intelligent heroine; an over the top, growling, protective alpha; no relationship angst or drama; and enough going on to keep the book interesting. I just love her writing so much.

So this book was everything I could have expected. Leah was an awesome leading lady. She was sweet and smart. She knew what she wanted and wasn’t prepared to settle for less than she deserved and from the first page I wanted to adopt her as my BFF. Leah and her crazy cat made me laugh. Mainly because I have a very similar arsehole cat that we all love to hate. And I loved her family and friends. Personally she could have been a little less forgiving of certain people but that’s my character flaw.

Tyler was everything you could want in an alpha hero. From his first interaction with Leah he was perfect. And when the jealous, possessive growling made an appearance I was pretty much ready to hand over my ovaries. I seriously love a man who puts his woman first and he went above and beyond to make sure everyone knew Leah was the center of his world and it just made me a swoony, melted mess.

And of course I loved Bruce. Throw in a well loved dog who is as protective and possessive of his loved ones as the hero and the book gets an automatic extra star. I can’t wait to see where this series is going to go.

This book was fast... fast meet, fast feelings, fast sex, fast love, fast, fast, FAST lol. One sugary sweet read! Made my teeth hurt. Tyler and Leah were fun together and the banter was refreshing. It was just a bit too much heart eyes for me.

Tyler was a hot alpha though. He wanted Leah and there was not going to be any other option. He didn't force himself on her, just forced the proximity. Was always around, calling her baby and other endearments. She just went with it. Kind of a little off putting.

I'm not sure if I really felt the love connection because they went from zero to one hundred in the blink of an eye. I actually enjoyed the little bit of angst and little twists in the book.

Overall, it was a sappy and giggle filled read.
I might read book 2 when I'm in the mood for a insta love book, but I will for sure have to be in the right mood for it.

I'm a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds and the stories she writes. While Catching Him was sealed up nicely for Leah and Tyler, I smiled and laughed throughout their story. Their meet cute was enough to keep me reading.

Leah has a sweet disposition but I also found her to be a very naive. The strong bonds she has with family and friends also made her extremely likeable. That being said she isn't afraid to use her voice when needed. Her grumpy cat is challenge but if it wasn't for this wayward feline, Tyler and Leah wouldn't be a couple.

Tyler is 100% Alpha male. He wasn't looking for anything but a change in where he lives until Leah falls into his life. He immediately takes on his role of protector and friend in one chapter. He was a little bossy at times but not overbearing. I'm a sucker for a take charge guy.

The storyline was rather simple and not a lot of drama. This is fine for me as I wasn't looking for anything more than that. There were a few obstacles that the couple faced but they were relatively small and were able to be handled quite easily.

Leah and Tyler are too stinking cute!

The story is super sweet, fun, and low on angst. If you’re looking for a quick fun read that’s hot and sweet, I highly recommend this book from one of my favorite authors.

What I Enjoyed Most:
The beginning was funny and cute. Super cute pets lead to a chance meeting between these two lovebirds. I particularly loved their pets. If only my fur baby was as obedient as Bruce. LOL

Every woman wants a man like Tyler! He’s hot, good in bed, and super duper sweet, but still macho enough to stand up for his love. I loveeeeeeee him.

Leah is a great character. A great girl. Someone I’d totally want to hang out with and shoot the breeze. She’s caring and easy going.

Their relationship is fun, flirty, and easy. As I stated before, this one is low angst. It’s a pretty straight forward romance. No major surprises, just a good time. Not sure if its just me, but this one seemed to be a bit sexier and I was here for it!
All in all, a great read!!

This was super cute. The two main characters actually talked to each other instead of assuming what the other is thinking - which is always a plus in my eyes. Adding the fact that they are super into each other and cutely so, a focus on family, and two really brilliant pets, this was really lovely. I wasn't as much into the B-plot of them being victims of arson and burglary but it didn't overshadow the main storyline.

Content warning: Arson, Burglary, Attempted Sexual Assault (but the guy gets punched in the face!), Cheating (in the past), one of the pets get abducted (but nothing happens to it)

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake Romance for granting my request for an ARC of this book. The review below is entirely my own opinion.

I loved this book! It’s one of my favorites that I’ve read this year bec it has all the elements that I love in a good romance book.

The heroine is spunky, sweet, knows what she wants, is hardworking and is close to her family. The hero is alpha yummy with a very confident attitude but is still quite the gentleman. Their pets are cute and endearing. The secondary characters aren’t distracting and there aren’t so many of them that you get lost with who’s who.

There’s some angst, very little actually, but I thought it was dealt with in a very straightforward way which I totally appreciated. Let’s just say that I didn’t have any urge to throw my Kindle at the wall during any point in my reading this story. LOL

In a nutshell, it’s a light, entertaining read with a whole lot of feels. Their romance developed nicely and smoothly. No insta-lust here, but it sure has heat.

If you’re a fan of ARR’s books, I think you’ll be totally happy with this couple and their love story.

3 FLUFFY STARS - I wanted something with more Bite

The hero in this – Tyler Duncan is a take charge alpha and the heroine Leah Emerson – sweet and kind. Tired of the type of mean she has found herself dating, she is now looking for a man who knows what he wants.

I really wish the author had provided dual POV from the get go, we don’t get Tyler’s POV until the 57% mark.

This little read is super low angst, and was an easy and light read, but honestly, I didn’t think it was anything special. Nice enough but that’s it. Overall, nothing truly happens in this book, the plot can be broken down as follows: the hero and heroine meet, each have a cute pet, they become friends, date, kiss, have sex, date some more, meet the parents, there’s some little/tepid familial conflict and then of course their HEA. Weaved lightly into this story is a mystery plot, but it wasn’t that tangible or robust.

I was practically gagging with how mushy this romance was and it made me feel gross at times, not gonna lie but I needed another fix of romance and this was a good appetizer. "Catching Him" was cute but a whole lot of nothing was going on until we hit the 80% where a mild conflict ensues (obviously not major) alongside the cringeworthy instant love they had going on. Not like I minded it much with this novel because I kind of expected it when going through the reviews but it would have made it a bit more interesting with this fluff of a romance if there was some sort of real relationship drama thrown into the mix. Nevertheless it was instant love feel good romance.

⭐️ [3/5] ⭐️

I don’t know what I was expecting but I’m kinda underwhelmed. Unfortunately, this just wasn’t for me. There’s nothing wrong with the story, the characters are great and the plot was decent. It was just pretty average for me. There wasn’t anything necessarily special that stood out and I didn’t feel super connected with the book which is why it took me so long to get though it.

I’m sure heaps of others would adore this but I’m not really a huge fan of things happening so fast and having it all condensed together. I felt like there was nothing really going for it, if that make sense? If you like really simple romances then you’ll love this.

This book was boring. I don’t think this author is for me. She is just too sappy sweet and traditional for my liking. There are no depth to her stories or her characters. The amount of times these two said I love you made me a little nauseous. He kissed her temple and forehead and nose so many times, and was so gawd dammed condescending I wanted to slap him. Can we have an alpha that doesn’t act like he’s the heroine’s damn father, mansplaining every little thing to her and she wide eyed replies ‘are you even real? 🤩’.
This woman was 33 flipping years old, with a career, owns her own house and business yet needs this guy to protect her? To tell her how to keep a relationship going? Talks to her like she’s a freaking moron? Yet she acts like a freaking moron around him. Like when they met he sucked all the brains out of her head and she becomes weak in the knees and feeble in the mind.
Just save me from these misogynistic stories. This guy wasn’t that special and this girl wasn’t one in a million. They were completely average characters but the author would have us believe that all other men and women of the world are callous, unfeeling, game playing, selfish assholes. Here’s a note, every woman and man who care about each other do things like let the dog out, or go see their in-laws who they hate. It’s just what happens. This story wasn’t romance, it was two average people who rushed into a relationship because of proximity and age.
Boring, sickeningly sweet, and disgustingly misogynistic.

As usual, I enjoyed this one. ARR is one of my go to romance authors. I always know that I’ll get an alpha romance and low angst. Two of my favorite things in a romance novel.

I did enjoy Leah and Tyler’s romance. It was sweet and really made me smile. I love that Tyler made sure that Leah got to know him before he made his move. Leah wanted someone that showed her that they were interested and wasn’t playing games. Well, that’s exactly what she got from Tyler. The lack of games and back and forth was really great.

Even though I did love them, I did feel like something was missing. I can’t put my finger on it, but it’s something. Maybe I was comparing it to the Until Her/Him series. I don’t know. Also, the conflict here was easily predictable. You can’t win them all though.

Even though I didn’t love it like her other books, I still enjoyed it! If you are a fan of low angst and ARR’s writing then I recommend it! I can’t wait for the rest of the series.

I received an ARC via NetGalley for an honest review.

Aurora Rose Reynolds has done it again! She continues to deliver feel good romances that leave you swooning and drooling over her sexy alpha men. My favorite series by her has been and will always be The Until series and Catching Him has the elements I love from The Until Series making it an ultimate home run in my opinion. A Must Read for her fans!

ARC received for review

At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like this. It seemed like Tyler didn't want to move out of the friend zone. In the end, it was a really sweet romance with a nasty ex and potential nasty mother-in-law. Great epilogue.

Now does her bestie get a HEA with the hot detective?

This is what happens when you have high expectations... you either soar with flying colours or fall flat.
Catching Him fell flat.
The amount of times I had to come back to finishing this book was a chore.
The story was the most mundane boring story...like yawn. Everything was so...hmm... predictable?

I can't believe I'm saying this but I wanted more drama, wait, scratch that, I wanted some drama. It went too smoothly.

This was just thoroughly sweet and cute romance. It was refreshing to see something meaningful, yet not ridden with angst and complications. It was straight-forward and simple but still managed to have those touching moments. I loved seeing Tyler convey and act on intention to pursue Leah – no games. It was a romance where everything went right and fell into place. Their love was pure and direct. This was not to say that they did not fight/disagree and did not have obstacles – but it was nice to see them resolve it quickly together without any messiness. They were just two people who found a connection and went after it, period. It showed that romances did not always have to be anymore complicated than that.

I loved Leah and how likable, funny, and kind she was. And I adored how Tyler loved her. They both were family-oriented and were affectionate with their pets. They were also such straight-shooters. I seriously respected that about them because they were both clear with their feelings, and knew how to communicate well. It was nice to see her and Tyler become neighbors then friends and lovers in a seamless transition. One important aspect of their relationship was that they continuously showed how much they valued the other person. It was sweet that they both could not believe the other person was real, that they finally found their person.

The strong family/friendship theme was much appreciated, and made the characters more real and well-rounded.
