Vow of Devotion

One look.

Just like that.

That’s all it takes for me to know I wanted Ava for more than one night. She takes a single look at me and only sees a player.

The young, single mom doesn’t give her trust easily. Convincing her I want more than a one night stand is the best thing I’ve ever done until it all crashes down around me.

As I’m framed for crimes I didn’t commit, I fight to prove my innocence and battle to convince Ava and her daughter to stay.

When the stakes rise, will I be able to prove my vow of devotion?

Emma loves to write, just don't ask her to write about herself. If she isn't writing, you can find her lost in a book or trying to get her doggo to take a selfie with her. He usually refuses. At the end of the day, you can find Emma at the closest Mexican restaurant eating queso and sipping on a margarita. She lives in Texas with her husband and dog.

vow of devotion emma renshaw

Vow of Devotion is book four in the Vow series by Emma Renshaw. This is my very first book by Emma and I’m just in love. This book grabbed me right from the start and never let go!

Ava Kincaid is twenty four years old and has finished her masters degree in elementary education, all the while raising her six year old daughter, Lilly by herself. After all the years of struggling, she has secured her first teaching position as a third grade teacher. She’s nervous and excited to finally become a paid teacher. The job was in Austin, Texas so she and Lilly have just moved from San Antonio and are getting settled into their new apartment. Ava is trying to give Lilly a few fun days before the start of school and that is where she first meets Hudson, while at the park with Lilly. She can’t take her eyes off of him, same as every other woman in the area. She knows his type, a player. She’s a mother and that is her first and only priority. There is no room in her life or Lilly’s for a play boy. No matter how easy on the eyes he is.

Hudson Wells grew up with four brothers. His father founded Wells Builders and one by one his brothers went into the business with their dad. It’s been about a year since Hudson officially bought into the family business. He’s about to head up his first huge project, building a new neighborhood in a beautiful setting. Hudson was babysitting his cousin’s kids at the park the first time he laid eyes on Ava. He knew right away she was different. And he was also instantly in love with her adorable little girl. But it was evident that Ava was a lot more reluctant to get to know him than he was with her. She was all he could think about. He had to somehow convince her to give them a chance. If he had to be her friend for awhile until he could convince her of something more, that is what he would do.

home building site

“I don’t know what it is about Ava or why I’m so completely drawn to her. All I know is I want to peel back her layers, know every inch of her body, and simply be with her.”

Hudson falls hard for Ava and Lilly and I loved how quickly he accepted that this was it for him. It took Ava a little longer to decide that Hudson was worth the risk. Hudson had so much going on right now. Not only was he falling hard for Ava, he was starting out building his dream neighborhood. Things aren’t starting out very well on the build site, though.

“You’re trouble, Hudson. You’re going to be so bad for me.”
“No, I’ll give you everything good. I’ll do bad things to you.”

I loved this book. What a way to be introduced to Emma’s writing! Hudson was so good with little Lilly. They took right to each other which made Ava fall for him even harder. He has so much on his shoulders with the new build, with a new relationship, and the trouble at the site. This was such a sweet story with that little build up of suspense that I loved. Hudson’s family is completely fantastic. I loved his mom! She’s a little tiny woman who somehow was able to raise five rambunctious sons. This book was fun, sexy, sweet, and even a bit suspenseful. I enjoyed it so much and look forward to seeing what Emma is doing next.

“We’re building something together. Something I didn’t see coming, but now I’m determined to devote my life to.”

I enjoyed this one. It was basically a no angst easy peasy read. No OW or OM drama. Hero was charming and likable. Pretty much a player in the past, but there isn't too much emphasis placed on that. Once he sees the heroine, he was 100% in. The heroine was a single mom of an almost six-year-old girl. I wasn't particularly fond of the fact she hadn't had sex since the one night stand that knocked her up. The year is 2019 and women can go to school and be single Moms and still have relationships and sex...sigh. Apart from that little niggle, I liked the heroine.

description

This was a pretty slow burn romance when it came to sex. With no sex scenes until 65% into the book. These were a great cast of secondary characters. A lot of them from previous books and Lily (Ava's daughter) was adorable. There was also a thread of mystery woven throughout the story. It was pretty obvious who was behind everything from the start, but that didn't bother me too much. Last, it was all wrapped up in a super sweet ending.

This book got me so hooked that I stayed up WAY past my bed time, so much so that my iPad fell on my face while reading. Emma Renshaw is just dangerous that way, drawing me into each and every scene so flawlessly that I have no choice but to keep reading.

I'm a sucker for single parent romances and Emma more than delivers with Vow Of Devotion. Hudson and Ava had me swooning all over the place and add in adorable Lilly and I'm was a goner for this book. Devotion is the perfect mix of sweet, sexy, and suspenseful. A combination that will have you begging for more words from Emma and as quickly as possible.

OMG do I love Hudson and Ava in this story! They are an amazing couple together. It takes a while for them to get together but once they do they have an amazing chemistry that neither one can deny.

Hudson knows their is no one else for him but Ava. He looks at her and his heart skips a beat and his mind is immediately dreaming of a life filled with Ava and her daughter Lilly. But Hudson will have a long way to go because he is accused of doing these crimes that he did not commit so he will have to fight like hell to keep Ava and get his named clear.

Ava is a single mother who is a no none sense woman who is not in the mood to be with a player. But the more she gets to know Hudson the more she can see that he is a good guy caught up in a mess and she gives him a chance.

I kindly received an arc for an honest review

This is my first book in this series, (unfortunately I’m missing out here, BIG time!), but all these books are stand alone’s, so they can be read out of order.

This book is about Hudson, the player, who gets everything he wants. Never has to work hard for, women fall to his feet’s.
Until he meets Ava. And her daughter Lilly. He has to work to gain her friendship, but he’s devoted to make that happen!
Ava didn’t have it easy in her life, and doesn’t trust easily. But when she does, she does with all her heart.
Sweet story, with an ugly surprise in, but they work on shutting this down. This could be easily a deal breaker for a couple, so you‘ll need to see if Ava stands behind her Hudson.
Great story line, with a lot of love, trust, some gut wrenching moments. My heart was hurting for Hudson in between. What a sweet guy.

I can totally recommend this series!!!

“I want all of you. The good, bad, messy, crazy, fun. All of it. Give me every piece of you.”

Emma Renshaw has once again brilliantly created another amazing story, adding a beautiful couple to the addictive Vow Series. I couldn’t put it down, of course I love the world she created and even though I can’t pick a favorite, Vow of Devotion has everything I love in a book!!!! It doesn’t matter what genre you like, you’ll love it. The feels are everywhere, starting with the cover <3

Hudson and Ava felt real, I loved their dialogue, their friendship. I adored Lily and her relationship with Hudson.
VOD It’s a hot romance but so sweet at the same time.

“You have all of me, bluebonnet. You’ve had me from the beginning. Don’t you get that? I’m here. I’m fucking here and I’m not leaving.”

This book rocked my socks off!

Can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Voy of Devotion is coming soon!

Okay, this is not my first read by this author but I did read Book #3 and fell in love with it and the author. So now Emma Renshaw happens to be one of my favorite authors. I was super exited and happy to have gotten a ARC of this book! Let's just say, it was worth "asking for a friend around" to make sure I got it. What attracts me to Emma Renshaw's book is HER WRITING. There is something there tht just when I read it, I feel calm, comfortable and it's smooth sailing. Even if emotions come into play they are raw and smooth.

This book did not disappoint. Hudson is a player through-and-through IN THE PAST, so it's hard for him to be taken anything but. Ava is a single-mom who is trying to do the right and best for her kid. This story has EVERYTHING i love. Some drama, passion, little suspense, single-mom and sexy previous player turned into a man that know's what he wants now...or so it seems. When the events that occur change pretty much everything that was happening for them, I believe in Hudson and Ava (and her little daughter) that they will work through it...but that's not how life goes sometimes.

I will say this that I have a new BOOKBOYFRIEND because HUDSON is a mega alpha with a heart of gold. I did want to maybeee kill him towards the beginning but he redeemed himself very fast for me! LOVED , loved Hudson!

I am rating this a high 5 and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I will go as far and say this belong on my MUST READ list!

Hudson Wells is co-owner of his families construction company, and has big dreams for his first project. No where in those plans is a relationship or the dreaded L word. A chance meeting at a park leaves him feeling like he had been struck by lightning! Ava has just moved to the area, is a elementary school teacher with a six year old named Lilly. She has finally started on the road to her dream job she has been struggling toward for years. Right now the most important thing to her is Lilly adjusting to the move.
When this drop dead gorgeous guy sits next to her on her bench, she see’s him as a player. He proves to be a great friend, and soon she an Lilly can’t imagine life without him.

A beautiful contemporary love story, the characters are wonderful and Lilly is the star. I’ve loved every book in the Vow Series. Each is a stand alone read but with interconnecting characters. The epilogue is a glimpse into heaven.
I really enjoy reading this series and hope there are more to come.

With all that swagger that is Hudson Wells, underneath it all beats the heart of a man who believes in hard work and devotion to his family. Then along comes Ava and her little girl Lily, who is fearless and will try any adventurous. this little family is trying to navigate their way through everyday life as they find their way on a bumpy road to finding their happily ever after.

Hudson is out to prove his family that he isn’t a flake and has something to contribute to the family business and the competition with his brothers who are also part of the business. But there are circumstances that are trying to thwart it.

And Ava, the one woman who said no to Hudson. No woman has ever done that to him before. It he is willing to risk everything to have her.

We also see familiar faces from the past Vow books who stand behind Hudson through everything.

This book delivers everything I expected. It made me laugh, cry and cheer for Ava and Hudson.

I highly recommend.

I’ve been in love with Emma Renshaw’s writing from the very first book of hers I read. But Vow of Devotion? Holy. Crap. I fell so much harder for this book than any of the others. Vow of Devotion is her best book yet! There were so many moments that just completely stole my heart I couldn’t even keep track of them all.
Between Hudson’s ability to quickly become of of my all time favorite book boyfriends ever, Ava’s strength that is matched by her endlessly kind heart and Lilly’s downright irresistible adorableness my heart was ready to burst with happiness on every single page. If you’re looking for a lot of swoon with some wonderfully sweet and love a big family and tight knit friends grab this one!

Once again, Emma has outdone herself. She had me postponing my Valentine's Day plans so I could continue to get lost in Hudson and Ava. I really enjoyed how she let Hudson be his own person. Don't get me wrong, I love how big of a role the other characters play in the other books, but this time she let Hudson have the spotlight. There was just enough Liam, Roman and James thrown in there to keep me swooning, but I was completely head over heels for Hudson.
I couldn't get enough of this book. When it was over, I immediately re-read Roman and Harper's book for the millionth time. There's just something about Emma's men that make me want to live in her mind just so I can be accompanied by them.
I'm (im)patiently awaiting the next masterpiece. Until then, I think it's time to revisit James and Tate.

I have been anxiously awaiting Hudson’s story ever since I started the first book in this series, and Emma definitely did not disappoint! Hudson has been the life of the party and notorious for not taking things seriously, but underneath his fun exterior, he actually cares deeply and is devoted to his work and his family. Ava has relocated to Austin with her daughter Lily, hoping to get some good luck after a rough time in life so far. When Hudson lays eyes on Ava, it’s a done deal for him and he is intrigued and determined to be together. With Ava’s past, she is extremely hesitant to even speak with Hudson, but over time he wears her down. When Hudson’s life is turned upside down with accusations, the question is if Ava will stay or not. I LOVED this story! The combination of romance and suspense had me reading this story all at once – I couldn’t put it down! I went through a whole range of emotions and was left wanting more (in a good way!). I really enjoy Emma’s writing style and the flow of her stories and can’t wait until the next installment (and last) in this series!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Vow of Devotion is by far my favorite from Emma. From the first page I was hooked and couldn't get enough. I love this series and the characters I've grown to love. I'm going to be so sad when the Vow series is finished.

Hudson had me swooning from the moment he spotted Ava's daughter Lilly. Emma hit it out of the park with this perfect single parent romance. It's the mix of suspense, sweet, and sexy. The perfect combination to keep you hooked.

The Vow series has quickly become a favorite and when this bad boy landed on our kindle, well, to say we were a little excited is an understatement. Hudson and Ava burned up the pages. The chemistry between these two was undeniable.

And Hudson...well, he wrapped us around his little finger so fast that we kinda want him to be real. He's so good to Ava and Lilly, and it was fun to watch him fall in love.

Prepare yourself to just one more chapter your way through this one.

I completely devoured this book! I have been waiting for Hudson’s story and it did not disappoint. The writing was captivating and I absolutely love the relationship development between Hudson and Ava. Hudson is a lovable goof who is out prove he can both do his job properly at his families construction company and that he is ready to settle down and have a relationship. This book had me laughing and so in love with the characters. It is written beautifully and I already cannot wait for more books from Emma Renshaw. The weasel entered the picture and I didn’t like him right away, knowing he was definitely there to cause trouble. I will say I thought the trouble he would cause would be slightly different but it was way worse what he did. (When you read it you will know who I am referring to). I HIGHLY recommend the whole series if you haven’t started it yet and this book! I seriously have so much of this book highlighted from all the amazing quotes!

I received this ARC in exchange of an honest and unbiased review.

Firstly can I say wow!!! Hudsons story didn't disappoint at all.

I've been looking forward to him meeting someone to change him. Ava is everything I want for Hudson, she made him work to gain her trust and be part of her and her daughters life. Lily Ava's daughter is the sweetest little girl ever and her relationship with Hudson will melt your heart completely.

I've read all installments in this series in order however they are all standalones so you don't need to read them in order although I would recommend that.

Can't wait for the next story in this series.

Hudson and Ava are such a warm, romantic couple who had a spark from the very beginning. You just knew they were meant to be. Emma Renshaw has pulled another great book out to add to her Vow series. All books in this series have been fantastic and most of all dramatic and this one was nothing less. I like the development of the book and how the characters seem to align so innocently in the beginning but their relationship charges into passion and belonging. The ending epilogue is a special surprise too that you have to hasn't out for. Fantastic book!
This was an ARC copy which I'm very happy to give my honest review for.

4.5 stars! I totally devoured this book, single mum books are one of my favourites tropes and this one didn’t disappoint! This is the second one in this series that I have read so far. I really liked this one. Ava moves to Austin with her daughter. She then meets Hudson. They both are very attracted to each other. However, she wants to take this slow but we know how these books go. Thankfully after the drama with Hudson gets solved they get their happy ending.

Oh Hudson, my heart. Throughout this entire story my emotions were all over the place in the best way. Eva is such a strong, resilient mom and an even more beautiful woman. Her and Hudson's chemistry is off the charts and mind-boggling, it shouldn't work but it does. Lilly has got to be the best character in the whole book. I love her connection with Hudson just as much as I love Hudson and Ava's connection. Definitely an fantastic read worth reading. And got me more excited for the next book and hopeful for some of the other side characters which I really hope get a story.

Definitely the sweetest book out of the series - I absolutely loved Hudson, Ava and precious little Lily who stole all of our hearts.

Hudson, among his friends, isn't known to be the guy who settles down. After giving all of them a hard time for falling in love - he just didn't think it was ever going to be him. That is until he meets Ava and her daughter Lily. Hudson doesn't know what it is, but he is beyond smitten with the single mom and her cute as a button daughter. He never thought he would be in this position, especially with a single mom, but he has the overwhelming desire to prove to Ava that they could move beyond more than friends.

Ava's only concern is her daughter. And if she has to put love on the back burner for that, then she will. But when the handsome and quite intrusive Hudson bulldozes into their lives, she doesn't know if it's time to open her heart or run the opposite way.

Lily absolutely stole the show in this book. Her relationship with Hudson and how he opens up to Ava and Lily both just melted my heart. As always there's a little mystery and suspense in this book with Hudson and his work, but the heart of the story is what happens when you open yourself up to love and truly let it guide you. I loved this book and as always highly recommend this series!

Bluebonnet & Blueberry love 💙

Vow of Devotion is definitely that... a Vow of Devotion!!! See for yourself how the hero ‘vows’ to do this. Hudson was as sweet as they come!!!

This did not have the angst the previous books had - BUT the easy stroll this took was just as enjoyable!!! I loved the change of tone this book took but don’t worry, there’s plenty of craziness going on to satisfy your reader soul!!! Hudson is amazing... for him, Ava & her daughter is worthy of such Vow - enjoyed the chemistry between the main characters. Absolutely enjoyed Hudson and heroine’s daughter dynamic of ‘democracy’!! And respectful but fun all around...

Some old friends pop up and there’s more for you to laugh about (cue, Harper & Roman)!!! Plus, it was freaking funny having read how Hudson worked to get his first date approval... (cue Roman & Harper’s son)!!! I love the appearance of secondary characters (from previous books)... Emma does this well... gelling her characters together to give out that awesome family/friend’s dynamic that you would want in your life...

A novel full of fun, laughter, great chemistry and definitely devotion!!! I don’t want to spoil this for anyone so just one-click Hudson & Ava’s story... That ending was a swoon-worthy act!! Thank you for the arc ER... Patiently waiting for Kiernan’s story!!

This is the forth book in this series but they can be read as standalone books. I haven’t read any of the others books yet and wasn’t confused. This book was a great read. I loved the characters so much. Hudson is the youngest of his siblings. They still think of him as a goofy kid a lot of the time. He has just bought into his family’s construction business and is ready to start his first project. Ava is a young single mother. She has just moved to town to start her first year of teaching. Hudson sees her at the park with her daughter and knows he has to talk to her that there is something different about her. Ava can tell right away that Hudson is trouble. Trouble because of how good he looks and how he makes her feel. This book takes you on an adventure. Both Hudson and Ava must do things out of their comfort zone. He isn’t used to being turned down by a woman and she isn’t used to having anyone be there for her. Will she take a risk on Hudson? Things start to go missing on Hudson’s work site and then something even worse happens. Someone is out to get Hudson. Ava must decide if she is going to stand by her man or if she needs to protect herself and her daughter more. I can’t say enough about how great this book was. It takes you on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride for a bit. I felt for Hudson and Ava. They are going so good and then things out of their control happen. I did have a feeling who was behind it and why though. I look forward to reading the other books in this series as well as other books by Emma in the future. Great job Emma.

I’ve been waiting to see behind the playboy persona that Hudson shows the world, and I’m happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed! He and Ava had a fabulous story, and even a REALLY big, ugly bump in the road didn’t keep them from their HEA.

Hudson is a hardworking man, determined to prove to his family that his vision for a development is a winner. His brothers are less than supportive (and oh, how I wanted to slap one of them; I won’t spoil it by saying which one), his father seems to be doubting him, and his mother just wants him to settle down. All of this starts piling on and causing more stress for Hudson, but he finds a reprieve from all of his issues in a single mom who isn’t willing to give in to his charm. Little does she know, that charm and his fascination with her are bone-deep, and he’s not a man to give up when he finally gets a taste of what the good life could be, if she’d only give them a chance.

Ava, a single mother to a daredevil daughter, is trying to keep her heart from being broken, since she’s used to making do on her own. The problem is that Hudson isn’t going away quietly. Instead, he’s burrowing in deeper every day and is working to prove to Ava that she and her daughter are safe and loved with him. She decides to take the risk of being all-in with Hudson, and when things get rough, she proves that she’s just as devoted to Hudson as he is to her and her daughter.

While everything works out in the end (as it should, since this author won’t steer you wrong), Hudson and Ava manage to keep readers on their toes and wondering just what might come their way next. I can’t wait to see what comes next from the mind of Emma!

Emma Renshaw writes another amazing book. Vow series is one of my favorite and I love every single book. I couldn't wait to read Hudson's story.

In Vow of Devotion we see another side of Hudson and it was amazing. Every playboy has a romantic side. No one every saw the day that Hudson would want to settle. He meets Ava at a park and when she turns him down he knows that he has to work extra hard to get her attention. He is willing to take all of Ava including her lovable sweet Lilly.

Ava is a sweet loving single mom that moves to Austin to take on a teaching job. Lilly, her daughter, is so adorable and I love how supportive she is. They both have a bond like no other.
Ava has had a rough past and anyone in her shoes would be scared to start a relationship. Her walls are high but Hudson sure brings them down.

Once you start reading this book you won't want to stop. I love how well written it is. The book has great romance with a little mystery you do not want to miss.

Emma does a great job in giving us readers the importance of family, friendship and most important love.

All books in the Vow series are standalone.

Oh my stars. I am not sure where to start with this one. As always, Emma Renshaw delivers a story that packs a punch and hits you with the feels. It also has the epic twists that get tossed in there. This one probably hit me harder than the others in the series because of the single mom aspect. I was there. I know how it feels to be scared to let someone into your life let alone your childs. But the sassy little attitude of Lilly melts Hudson’s heart even more as he pursues Ava. He felt that connection from the first look, and I LOVED THAT! Seeing a strong man such as Hudson crumble was a stunning story. I giggled and I swooned as he went after Ava. Ava is such a strong character but not without her flaws. She is struggling to move forward in a new city and a hot alpha man such as Hudson tries to bulldoze her over but she makes him work for it.
As a whole, I absolutely adored every moment in this story. The highs and lows. The passion and the sizzle. The added suspense that throws Hudson and Ava for a loop. How strong she is with Hudson while he navigates being framed for something he didn’t commit to the outcome of that situation had me on my toes. Emma Renshaw is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with and you do not want to miss out what she has in store for us next! Pick up this one and all the past books because they are pure magic!

Ava, a single mom, and her darling daughter Lilly have recently moved for Ava’s first teaching job. New city, no friends they are starting over. Ava doesn’t have contact with her mother, her only family. A day in the park turns into a chance meeting with Hudson and 4 of his nieces and nephews. Ava doesn’t trust easy and Hudson has never been interested in more than a fling. Will this instant attraction turn into love?

This was my first Emma Renshaw book and I am so looking forward to going back and reading the rest of the series. I am sure the character background is better if you have read all the previous books but it can be read as a standalone. We get the perfect mix of romance and mystery with Vow #4. Emma Renshaw created characters that are very relatable. Looking forward to more by this author.

Okay I'm going to be honest. As you know I rarely read series in their adequate order and this series was no exception. First I read this book and I was a little mad. Honestly, i didn't understand how Hudson's friends would fully trust him even we he has been arrested for murder. It's not that I wanted them to end their friendship but to at least think before going anywhere with him. After reading every book in the series I finally saw the type of relationship they all had. They were not friends, they were more like brother who would do anything for each other. After understanding that I felt better about this book.

I so wanted to read Hudson’s book. Loved it so much.
Ava is a teacher and a single Mom trying to make ends meet in a new town.
Hudson is the fun loving Playboy. But he is also a hardworking man who wants to prove himself to his family. His brothers didn’t believe in him and is less than supportive of him.
Hudson and Ava meets in a park and at first she doesn’t give in and they become friends but Hudson wants more..
One of my favorite trope is single mom and loved the relationship between Hudson and Lilly.
The storyline in very good with a little suspense.
Loved the epilogue.

Swoon worthy hero

Emma Renshaw has knocked it out of the park! Just the right amount of suspense, funny times and sexy times!! You have a single mom, sassy 6 year old and sexy construction worker! Perfect combo! This story will have you cheering for characters, screaming at them and laughing!! Best book of 2019
