Elaine
I love my job, I love my house, and I love my cat. What else do I need out of life? Hmmm...maybe the hot new IT guy from work. Those dimples...And don’t get me started on his forearms.

But he’s way too young. Plus, office romance is never a good idea. Besides, my relationship track record is pitiful and the last thing I need is to get my heart broken again. So Simon Walker can take his charm, his Star Wars sheets, and his genius IQ and sweet talk some sweet young thing.

Simon
Elaine Madigan is easily the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met. Hilarious. Sexy. Smart. And unfortunately, she’s also convinced herself that I’m way too young for, so she’s friend-zoned me.

Somehow I need to show her how grown up I really am. I need her to see that I’m ready to settle down--with her. It’s no easy task, but that doesn’t scare me. After all, I’m a techie, and cracking codes is what I do. No matter what it takes, I’ll hack the code to her heart.

The IT Guy by Andi Burns is a dual POV standalone work romance with a younger hero, office hijinks, lots of laughs, and plenty of steam.

5 STAR WARS CROWNS

Charming and delightful, The IT Guy brings us the best of the romcom world.

Andi Burns has created an enigma with Simon. As a reader I tend to lean more towards the dark and broody hero, but there is something utterly addictive about Simon and his Star Wars, tech loving ways. Maybe it is the way he loves a Elaine or maybe it is just how completely adorable he is, but I couldn’t resist him.

Elaine is a tougher nut to crack. She has baggage, not a lot but enough from people who are meant to support to cause some major hang ups for her and Simon. While I didn’t always love Elaine’s choice, I loved her authenticity, and how Andi showcased her evolution.

The IT Guy’s plot line is fast paced and filled with perfect chemistry. It has the banter and the intellectual and physical connection I crave in a story, and the writing that is entertaining and enchanting. And that ending! While it could have a been a bit longer, I loved the attention the author paid to the details and how she wove the most important parts of their character into the resolution.

Andi Burns knocked her debut novel out of the park. Her writing is fresh, her humor is witty and smart, and her characters are delightful. Definitely a must read for the romcom world.

This book was a perfect mixture of fun, flirty, and sexy. I love age gap stories, and this older woman/younger man love story had me sold at the blurb.

Simon is a young (25), nerdy, and super fun character. Here's crushing hard on his older coworker, Elaine (34). When he finally takes the dive and asks her out, it's equal parts hilarious and sexy. Their banter is perfectly written, their flirting is grin-inducing, and their chemistry is to-die-for.

They're both nervous for different reasons. He's smitten and gun-shy, and she's been burned by a previous marriage and thinks he's too young for her. Her reluctance comes into play a lot, and it's largely due to over-bearing mother. However, best friends and siblings bring so much goodness to the story.

I can't believe this was a first book for this author. I can't wait for what else she has to bring.

I love discovering new authors and I have to say, if this is the quality of writing we get from Ms Burns as a brand new author, then she surely has a great career ahead of her and we as readers are in for a treat.

This author’s clever humor and smooth writing style grabbed me from the beginning and I enjoyed both enormously. Wonderfully witty banter and double entendres had me in stitches. In fact I was laughing so hard at one point I got a scathing look from my husband and a judgy comment about the kind of book I was reading!

The IT Guy has a great balance of fun and angst but it’s not without it’s poignant moments too. I really felt for Elaine when feelings of self doubt crept in. I could empathise with Simon’s frustration but quite frankly given half the chance I would’ve shaken Elaine’s mother until her teeth rattled for making her so insecure in the first place. I loved Simon’s tenacity, his view of the world, not to mention his confidence and his dedication to making his Lainie happy. You’ve got to admire a guy who doesn’t let Star Wars bedding get in the way of a good seduction.

Sweet and considerate, he’s no doormat however, and I applauded his spirit and his sense of self esteem when things took a bit of a wrong turn. Despite their age gap, it was clear that Elaine and Simon were made for each other. Their personalities complemented one another perfectly and not once did I doubt that they should be together. I just hoped Elaine would see it as well, before it was too late. There’s also a wonderful cast of colorful, well developed, supporting characters and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they pester this author to write their stories too. Quite frankly, we all need a no nonsense best friend like Molly, providing both the voice of reason and a shoulder to cry on.

I can’t believe this is a debut novel. A gorgeous romance, charming and sexy, with lots of steam and humor, a little angst and a lovely epilogue, makes this a real winner for me. I can’t wait to see what Ms Burns has in store for us next.

description

I need something different, as far as my romances go these days, so after reading the blurb for this one, despite it being a new author to me, I knew I had to take a chance on it.
I’m glad I did.
It was the perfect mixture of romance, humor and steam factor in terms of scenes of intimacy.
The humor jumped out at me most, the ease at which these characters played so easily off each other even more so, because it felt real. It’s how I would want a romance of my own to be.
That’s not to say they didn’t face their own challenges and struggles, especially as it pertains to the age difference, which for our heroine, was something she focused heavily on, despite the attraction and feelings, but the way they were with each other had me so connected that I truly believed in them facing down and overcoming whatever came next.
This is one of those stories that was very feel good for me as a reader, and having it not be about a billionaire or an alpha male (which there is nothing wrong with, but sometimes one just needs a break), was a welcome change. I’m so thankful I have this author and this story a shot, but also that I was gifted an early release copy in order to do it.
This is definitely an author I want to read more from in the future and if you’re looking for a funny, romantic, yet steamy love story, this one might be the one for you.
My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this before the official release. It was a journey I’m thankful to have taken and can’t wait to do again in the future.

I really love discovering new authors and this being the author’s first book I'm definitely intrigued for more of her work!
The IT Guy was an entertaining older woman/younger man story and I really enjoyed the overall storyline! It was entertaining, filled to the brim of nerdy quotes, which I genuinely love to read about, great banter and sizzling chemistry!
I liked Elaine but she had little self worth and this was due to a past relationship and her awful mother. Enter Simon and his ability to see the woman in front of him as he sees her. Elaine struggles so much to see herself the way he does and the age difference as well puts her into a hell of a conundrum. I loved Simon, his words, his beautiful heart, his family and friends and he was very genuine and someone you would definitely want as a friend!
Can this be an everlasting friendship or is it doomed from the beginning?? Well you have to read it for yourself to find out!
Ms Burns has written an amazing first book and I'm excited to see what is in store from her next!

The IT Guy was just the right kind of sweet and funny—with layered depth—read. Elaine and Simon’s banter was clever while their chemistry was off the charts. At the same time though, Elaine’s self-doubt was heartbreaking and real. Simon, though younger, is THE MAN! He never once wavered from his feelings or adoration of her. It was his loyalty, and indeed more importantly Elaine’s own growth and acceptance, that eventually led her to fight for what she deserved. The secondary characters in this story were amazing (well, most of them…LOL!), and I am happy to see that more books in this world are coming! It’s hard to believe that this is Andi’s first novel! 5 stars for this delightful debut!

This is Andi Burn’s first novel and if this book is anything to go by we will be hearing a lot more from her. I love finding new authors and am I’m intrigued to see where we go next with this one.
This is older woman/younger man story but it’s so much more than just a romance, it’s quirky, it’s steamy, it’s funny and it’s full of witty banter that will have you laughing out loud.
Simon is a man happy with his life, he has a great outlook on life and that installs confidence but what I really loved about him was his determination to make Elaine aka Lainie happy. Lainie is the complete opposite, she struggles with her confidence which is really down to her awful mother putting her down but now it’s time to build her up and Simon is the perfect person for that job........
Friendship can lead to many things but will Simon and Lainie’s friendship lead to love and happiness or will it falter at the first hurdle......
I loved this read, I loved the characters, the plot, the chemistry and the banter and I’m excited to see where this very talented author takes us next.

4 Wonderboy Crowns

This was a wonderful debut Novel by Andi, I got swept away with the delightful quirkiness of the characters and the easy flow of the storyline. Andi has a delightful writing style that keeps you engrossed in the plot and entertained throughout. I loved the lightness to this story, but also with the character development regarding the underlying issues. I feel this is not just a romance but a story of self-discovery and acceptance of who you are.

“Too soon to offer pregnancy? I get that. We haven’t even ordered appetizers yet.”

I adored Simon, he is 100% okay with who he is and he doesn’t try to change to suit those around him. He owns the person that he has become and makes no apologies for it. He is the definition of Nerd with his ridiculously high IQ and love of all things Star Wars. Simon is overall just the sweetest most understanding guy and that is guaranteed to make you swoon. The way that he is with Elaine will seriously have you melting into a puddle. He doesn’t push her or force her hand in any way he’s supportive and does his damndest to make her see how wonderful she is. And he is so funny, his sense of humor and sarcasm is freaking fantastic. Their banter is one of my favorite things about this book. Gahhh this man is All. The. Things!!!!

“You are ridiculous.” “You say that to me a lot, I’ve decided to take it as a compliment. Now, let’s get back to more sex than you’ve had in the past three years combined.

I loved Elaine, did she do some stupid things, absolutely. But I think that’s what made her so much more real for me. What she goes through and her growth through this story is one that I think many can relate to. I felt for this woman down to my soul. Elaine has a lot of baggage that she has to work through, but honestly who doesn’t. And her baggage is one that you can see why it’s there, I mean with what she endures who wouldn’t. I loved how real Andi wrote Elaine, I felt like her and I could be friends with her wonderfully quirky personality and her overall sweet/caring side.

He sighs, and I know it kills him that he can’t fight this battle for me. It probably kills him that I have to fight this battle at all.

I absolutely loved this story’s overall message of truly loving and accepting who you are. It’s hard to love yourself when society’s message of perfection is the norm that we have to see daily. That expectation is not an achievable goal and as women I think it’s hard to see what they deem perfect and looking in the mirror and not measuring up. I respected the development of Elaine’s character and I felt her struggle down to my marrow. The only thing that I wanted more of was the ending, honestly it felt like it happened abruptly, I think there could have been a little more to it. But that just shows how much I like this story that I wanted more. This book was a great debut for Andi and I can’t wait to see where she goes from here.

The IT Guy is the first novel for Burns, I jumped on it soon as I read the blurb.

Elaine isn’t denying the IT guy is gorgeous, she has become friends even when she destroys laptops. Simon has had a crush since day 1, and finally he decides to ask her out; they have chemistry together but Elaine is not handling the age gap very well, will she realise before its too late that she has pushed the best thing in her life away?

I enjoyed reading this story, even though I want strangle Elaine for her insecurities I found both of the characters lovable. I might possibly have had the same reaction to the Star Wars sheets as Elaine though!

I look forward to reading more from this new to me author.

Great debut from a new author.

“I don’t want to sound creepy or come off like a weirdo, but Elaine’s it for me. She’s everything I could ever want.”

Simon Walker, the new head of IT, a self-professed geek in all things IT and Star Wars, as well as a recognised boy genius, has been fiercely attracted to his work colleague, Elaine Madigan, since the first moment he met her. She’s beautiful, funny, and they have a real connection. He just needs to work up the nerve to ask her out.

“Killer forearms, a nice ass, and kind words. I’m doomed.”

Elaine is a divorcee with an extremely overbearing mother, who never fails to constantly cut her down. In spite of her confidence, deep down she has more than her fair share of insecurities. She’s crushing hard on the hot IT guy but, in her mind, he’s off limits because she’s nearly ten years older than him and, besides, what does a brilliant, gorgeous guy like him want with an older woman like her? Well, he’s about to show her.

”You’ve been the star of my fantasies for an indecently long time. You’re f*cking exquisite.”

Oh my goodness! Simon Walker is one dirty talker! I found him totally sexy and adorable all at the same time. I loved his commitment and intensity and almost simple way at looking at life and love. He knew what he wanted and he went for it. I felt his hurt as Elaine struggled to deal with what she wanted against traditional stereotypes, as well as her own issues, before she could move forward with Simon. She really struggled with acceptance and, honestly, her mother really needed to be put in her place. I honestly don’t why she put up with her. I thoroughly enjoyed the chemistry between them and, OMG, he’s such a beast in the bedroom! Nothing hotter than a brainy sex good! Overall, I thought this was a great debut full of humour, sexiness and a little bit of angst. Looking forward to reading the next story from this author.

A great 4.5 ⭐️ read!! I enjoyed these characters a lot!! Simon was the sexy nerdy smart guy with a crush on a girl, excuse me woman. The chemistry is there & well written, but not over the top. It was perfect for this romance, for this fun, quirky story. It was fun to read a H that is the slightly quirky, but is also a sexy dirty talker. Elaine is smart, not like Simon, but a good fit to him. Her insecurities have her overthinking so many things, which is so much a female characteristic. This is definitely a story many women can feel a kinship to. The slight intriguing cliffy this author leaves us with will have you wondering if we get to see more of these 2 in the next book. The quick look into Ev’s book has me not so patiently waiting for his book & wondering so many, many things. Well done, well done!!

I highly recommend this book. Told in dual POV.

Hot, steamy and hilarious at times! The IT Guy by Andi Burns was a fun read that had great characters and a great story line. Simon is the young, sexy, brainy IT guy in Elaine's company. He has his eyes set on her, but she is struggling with the fact that he is so much younger. When the two are together the chemistry is undeniable, but Elaine still struggles with feeling as though she isn't good enough. Get ready to go on a roller coaster of emotions because you are going to experience them all throughout this story!

A proper feel good read.

Elaine has a massive crush on the much younger IT guy who comes to fix her computer. What she doesn't realise is that he also has a massive crush on her too. Neither have the courage to act on it for different reasons: Simon doesn't think he is good enough whilst Elaine feels that she is too old for him and that her body clock is ticking down, thanks to a mother who continuously puts her down.

Simon and Elaine as so cute together - words come out of their mouths and they keep on coming. Simon lives up to his geeky status with his Star Wars bed sheets! Simon adores and worships Elaine but Elaine can't get past her own insecurities which risk ruining the best thing in her life for a long time. It always felt like one step forward and two steps back.

This was a fun read, with plenty of laugh out loud moments throughout. I wanted to do permanent damage to Elaine's mum and shake Elaine when she had doubts. I really loved this book.

This is the debut novel of Andi Burns and features an age gap romance between Elaine and Simon, older woman falls in love with a younger man! I was very intrigued by the blurb so when I received this book, I couldn’t wait to dive in!

I thought overall the story was good, but for me, I felt the buildup was kind of slow and therefore, at times, I found myself skipping over paragraphs. I thoroughly enjoyed the character development, especially of Elaine who goes from naive and insecure to standing up for herself and what she wants. I thought Elaine and Simon complemented each other well and I truly enjoyed their witty banter.

This was a cute story, that is a stand-alone, and you do meet the characters of the next book. I will definitely be grabbing her future books as they release! If you enjoy age gap romances, then this is the book for you!

Cute story.

I was looking for an age gap story for a reading challenge, and I’m glad I chose this one. It’s not often that you find a book where the female is the older of the couple. Simon was nerdy and cute and Elaine grew into her own by the end of the book.

One thing that bothered me about this book was that the female lead is a copy editor yet there were many weird spacing errors with punctuation. That’s not the kind of irony I appreciate!

I think anyone who has worked in an office environment has wondered about situations like this. This was so well done, smart, funny and sexy!

Simon is everything that Elaine (Lainey) needs and deserves, even if she's having a hard time believing it - and she's definitely got her reasons, like WOW. Watching these two traverse an age gap / workplace romance is funny and full of big heart. Simon is dedicated and a force when he decides to go after her!

Such a fantastic debut!

The IT Guy is an impressive debut novel. Simon is all kinds of sexy nerd, determined to prove to Elaine that their age difference bears no meaning on how perfect they are for each other.

The IT Guy was pretty cute, won't lie. It had a lot of things I really liked: a female character that had real insecurities, a male character that wasn't a shitbag (yes, I know, a bit of a low standard but I am who I am), and a conflict resolution that wasn't immediate. And I've already said it but I'm saying it again: it was cute.

Elaine is a thirty-something copyeditor for (what I'm going to call a terrible) crustaceans magazine, and she's perfectly happy with the way her life is (minus her terrible mother). Simon is a twenty-something IT Manager of the magazine, and together they've got the hots for each other. But Elaine isn't sure about their age gap (nearly 10 years) and she's carrying a lot of baggage with a mother who wants to change her. Simon could care less about age (it's just a number, right?) but he can't overcome obstacles that he can't see.

Spoilers coming. Hide now.

I totally understood Elaine's hang up and honestly, I think I would have the same insecurities too if I were dating a younger guy, worrying about how I look, what other people think, etc. (that's a statement about the way the world has shamed women and shaped our views, cough cough). But I absolutely hated how she let her mother's negative comments influenced her and it took an entire book to stand up for herself, not to mention that the build up to the moment left it flat. (A lot of the characters were flat [best friend, brother, mother, as examples] which is what led me to three stars.) But I DID like that in the end, she seeks help for her issues, because mental health is not taboo and it's okay to see someone when you've got problems.

Simon I really enjoyed. He knows what he wants, he secure in himself even when Elaine's age issue is pressing, and he doesn't just roll over and take her back even though she's making changes. That's hard to do, as we all know, when you love someone. And for once in romance, it's not the girl taking the guy back, but the other way around.

All in all, a good cute read on Kindle Unlimited and I'd read it again for funsies.

I've always been a sucker for nerdy guys, and this book really hit that spot. It's fun, flirty, and absolutely swoon worthy. Andi Burns is a new author for me, but I'm so glad I discovered her. She created a wonderful world with amazing characters.

Simon, the IT guy at work, finally decided to ask his crush, Elaine, out on a date. Elaine has been attracted to Simon, but in her mind he's coming off limits. She's nearly 10 years older and divorced. When they're together the chemistry is undeniable. Will Elaine be able to overcome her insecurities, and let Simon love her?

Elaine had the best character development through this story. She had a lot of baggage and insecurities she needed to go through. She made many mistakes that I didn't always agree with. She let her fear rule her. By the end, she learned how to love herself, and accepted who she was.

A lot of nerds are portrayed as not having a back bone, but that was not Simon. He was no doormat. He knew exactly who he was, and didn't apologize for it. He had no filter either. He constantly kept saying things that had me laughing out loud. Not only is he smart, he was adorable, and, my god, does he know how to dirty talk.

I loved the stories over all theme of self acceptance. The journey of self discover can be a hard one, but with the right support system, like Simon, you can learn to love and accept yourself, like Elaine did. I can't wait to see what else Andi Burns comes out with.

The IT Guy is a charming and swoony, sweet debut novel from Andi Burns!

Crushing on the sexy copy editor at their shared workplace is definitely a bad idea but Simon just can't help himself. From their first (adorable) meeting, he's been unable to resist Elaine's allure. She might be almost ten years older than him but she couldn't be more his type!

Simon is the epitome of the hot nerd and boy, does this young thing have it going on! Sure he's ridiculously hot but he's also sweet and wicked smart and adores her. With her horrible mother in her head and an extra ten years on her driver's license, Elaine just can't get past her own hang-ups to accept all the love Simon so freely gives her.

This book was so sweet and swoony. I fell in love with Simon by the end of the first chapter. His nerdom was adorable and totally crush worthy. Elaine. Oh Elaine, I so related to her, letting the negative voices of her horrible mother and her dbag ex drown out the voices of those who love her. In the wise words of Pretty Woman, sometimes the bad stuff is easier to believe. The love these two share is everything a girl could ask her. Can't wait for the next book!

I LOOOOOOOOVE a good older/younger relationship!

I loved this book! I absolutely love an age gap romance! Even more, I love an older woman, younger man romance! You don’t get those all that often. But I’m a sucker for it. Ok so I loved Lainie. And Simon. Looooved Simon. Nerds are a weakness of mine. Lol. But they went so well together. Poor Elaine though. Struggling with the fact that she’s a single woman in her 30’s. Here’s the deal. I feel like any time you read a book about an older woman and younger man, you’ll find that the woman is obsessed with the fact that she’s so much older than the young man. But if the roles were reversed, the man would only give a small thought. I hate that. Unfortunately, I know that it’s a real thing in real life so I’m able to overlook it. Anyways, such a good book! Love that Everett’s book is next. Can’t wait to read about him and the mystery girl who I don’t think is really a mystery! I would recommend this and read it again and I would definitely read the next book!
