This was such a lovely read, just like those romantic movies that keep you glued to your chair. Connor is the perfect book boyfriend; he may initially seem bold but he later turns out to be caring and loving. Quinn on the other hand, initially left me puzzled. She is so totally absorbed with her career that she doesn’t realize how lucky she is on finding such a great guy. Fortunately I soon changed my mind because she is going to prove how smart she is but I am really not going to spoil and ruin the fun. So I really recommend this book if you’re willing to sigh and daydream.
What a great start to a new series! Quinn is trying to work her way up at an interior design-business consulting firm. She lands her first solo project - a bar remodel. Sparks fly when she meets Connor, a former musician and the new owner of the bar. The attraction between the two is immediate, but Quinn fears for her reputation if she were to act on it. I loved Connor and I wanted to give him a hug as we learned more why he decided to leave the music world. I could also understand where Quinn was coming from given the office politics at her company. These two seemed like opposites and yet they were perfect together as a couple. I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve and while I wish Quinn’s solution to her work situation came a little earlier in the book, it was good how it all played out. I also loved the ending and how things are now open for Mason to have his own book. For those of you who have read some of this author’s rockstar romances, then you will recognize the bar as Walt’s Bar (Walt is Connor’s older brother) and love the cameos from Jessie and Gael (Cherry Lips). I received this book, Kiss and Tell, for free.
A new exciting series by Athena Wright, Kiss and Tell is such a fantastic read, I loved it. I instantly liked Conner and Quinn, they were complex characters and their Romance was equally sweet and sexy. Conner is an ex Rockstar who decides to help run his brothers bar and Quinn is the lucky interior designer hired to renovate the bar. Of course there is an immediate connection between them and a spark is ignited, but they try to fight the attraction and be professional as they are working together. I liked reading about them getting to know one another and you can see how they fall for eachother. They both have many layers, as people and what's on the surface, isn't always the truth of what is happening within. This was such a captivating story and a unique twist to a Rockstar Romance which I enjoyed very much. I cannot wait to see what the next book will be, judging by this first book it's going to be another must read series, Excellent. I highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed the setting up of the bar. Quinn was a hard-working talented young woman. Connor was a former guitarist for Indie music. Connor was rather one dimensional because his POV didn't factor much to the story and he looked dumb.... Playboy and slacker, until he falls in love and then decided to work hard with the woman he hired to come up with renovation plans. They do have chemistry. I do remember the secret bar from other books and love the idea. It will be a cool series.
4.5 swoonworthy stars! Such a great start to a new series! This is a sweet, steamy, light read. There is an instant attraction between Connor and Quinn right from the start. While working together Quinn fights to keep things professional but you can only fight your feelings for so long. Connor and his sweet hotness has him on my book boyfriend list. I can't wait for more from this series!
Kiss & Tell launches Athena Wright's newest series, still set in the world of her rocker romances. This time, however, it's centered around the dive bar mentioned as a musician's haven in prior books.
Former musician Connor agreed to be co-owner of his brother's dive bar. He's hot, charming, and easygoing - at least on the surface. There are hints of some secret pain in his eyes and he shuts down anyone who asks about why he left the music business. He wants to prove that he can do something other than music, but he's underestimated all the work that comes with running a business.
Quinn is a junior interior designer hired to help redesign the bar. She's determined to prove that she can handle a difficult job. Especially since one of her co-workers is blackmailing her by telling everyone that their one innocent date actually meant she was sleeping her way to the top. The best way to shut him up is to prove that she can do the work and get promotions without sleeping her way ANYWHERE.
Quinn and Connor meet at the bar and sparks instantly fly. However, Connor says he knows the owner and Quinn is determined not to do anything that would hint at impropriety with a client, so she leaves without intending to contact him again. Imagine both their shock at finding out that they will be working together. Connor knows he still wants Quinn; Quinn is terrified that her reputation will be destroyed if she gets involved with a client.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. There are a few cameos by some of the rockers in her prior series, which is always fun to see. The reasons for Connor's angst were actually really surprising and to me a legitimate reason for it - having a choice stolen away is somehow worse than never having one to begin with. Quinn's fears are definitely not unfounded but she and Connor are great together. Despite the attraction between them they do build a relationship based on mutual like, not just mutual lust.
If you enjoyed Athena's other series, be sure to check this one out as well. I'm anxious to see where she goes from here.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this title.
I've loved all of Athena's Rockstars and now it seems we are in for a new kind of of treat! A dive bar rehab??? What fun! Could it be we've been here before? Hmmm.
Quinn and Conner's initial, burning hot encounter was a very intriguing start to this new series, had me sucked in from the 1st chapter. Smoldering, sexy Connor, as a former rock musician, a guitar player grabbed my attention right away. There is more about him I want to explore, something raw from his past, some under lying sadness and pain? I'm officially hooked!
An undeniable attraction is brewing between go getter Quinn and laid back Connor, that's blatantly obvious to them both. Even so, Quinn is trying to stay in her own lane- driven, striving to make a name for herself, has pushed hard to succeed on her own merit in the world of interior design in the company she works for. A cocky, sexist adversary has been making her climb a huge challenge with his veiled blackmail threats...Quinn can't let her growing feelings for Connor get in the way because that is exactly what 'HE' would use against her, implying impropriety with a client, to make sure she was blacklisted from her budding career forever. BUT, can she ignore the possibility of what she and Connor could have together?
Boy oh boy, does that gorgeous Connor get under your skin with his intense, sexy ways, gentle heart and beautiful words and actions. Quinn is under his spell whether she wants to be or not..he is just...well, there are no words!
I loved watching Connor and Quinn become a team, wanting to know each other's minds and hearts. Caring about the others goals and dreams. She is one smart cookie and I'm rooting for her!
The bar and its rehabbing was a fun place to 'be' as the story unfolds. I have a feeling we will be hitting Sin and Tonic (what a cool name!) for a few drinks in the future with more opportunities for entertainment, celebrity sitings and perhaps love in the making??? I sure hope so, because I'd love to have a front row seat if that's going to happen!
This is Athena Wright doing what she does so well, I really loved this one.
An early copy was provided and happily received. This is my honest review of it.
So far I've read many novels by Athena Wright, and except for 'Accepted,' they were all rockstar romances. My curiosity was piqued when I saw this book wasn't about rock stars. Well, they do appear in the novel, but the protagonist isn't a performing artist himself. Anymore. So what did I think of this not-rock star-romance? The story is about Quinn who has worked hard to land a job as bar-designer. She's fighting hard to rise in her career and is elated to get her first solo job. The guy she needs to work with is quite a tough nut since other designers before Quinn have quit the job because of him. Quinn is shocked when she first meets Connor because the attraction between the two of them is palpable. But she can't start an affair with him, while he is overseeing her first solo assignment. Especially when a guy at work is making her life hard and will do anything to see her fail.
I enjoyed reading 'Kiss and Tell.' It's a perfect start to a new series, and it somehow felt more mature than previous novels. Being a not-so-assertive person myself, I honestly wondered how Quinn was going to resolve the situation, and I loved her solution. And the attraction between Quinn and Connor was real intense and exciting. Athena Wright always has the perfect ingredients to make the characters come alive.
The only character who was too flat was the bad guy since that was really all he was. There's no insight into what drives him to be such a prick to her co-worker. And the hot scene starting in the kitchen while Connor is making pasta was real familiar. I'm quite sure I've read a scene just like it in one of Athena's earlier works. But that's okay.
Overall I really enjoyed reading this book. It wasn't as predictable as some of Athena's other books are. I believed Quinn's motivations, and I'm glad I got to enjoy the ride together with her. It's a definite recommend, even if you're more into the rock star romances. There's enough music in this book.
This is a sweet story with a lot of real life timely issues that we are currently living in today. Connor is the former rock musician looking to venture off into new territory. Quinn is the young, smart, designer looking to make her mark in the industry she loves. An area that is highly male dominated. Unfortunately, both have secrets and flaws that threaten to sabotage what might be between them. The question is can they overcome their hurdles and come together to make both the bar and their blossoming relationship work? I don’t do spoilers it’s not fair to the author. Read the blurb. Better yet, read the book. It’s so worth it.
I truly don’t want to give anything away but what I will say is that the author took a very current issue ( actually this issue has been around forever but it’s been brought to light very recently) and handled it in an intelligent, smart, clever way. I so want to talk about it, but won’t. Another point the author made is how we jump to conclusions. Everyone has done it at one time or another. What we find out is many times we’re wrong about our assumptions. If we would talk to one another we could avoid so much heartache and problems. That’s another point that makes this story so real. It’s a book with a several layers.
We also get to meet up with some new and interesting characters and even revisit with some from past stories.
I think I’m going to really love this new series as much as the past series the author wrote. I read this book in one sitting. It’s a fast read but also I couldn’t put it down. So kudos to the author and the new series.
Would you risk everything for love? Connor and Quinn meet over a bar renovation. And despite their working relationship they cannot deny the chemistry between the two of them. The more Connor pushes to be with Quinn the more she pulls away because she is, so career driven, she is afraid of the repercussions. Once lines are crossed there is no going back, and Quinn is left with the question what is more important your career or your happiness?
This book was a great read, it reminds me of the romantic movies that give you all the feels. You carry a love/hate relationship with the characters because you just want to see them together already. Connor turns out to be the perfect book boyfriend, he seems very confident in the beginning and then he turns into this amazing caring and loving person. Quinn is the one you have crazy thoughts about she is, so career driven that she is almost willing to give up her happiness, and you just want to throw something at her.
I devoured this book in a matter of a day, I am a sucker for a good romance, there is not enough in the world. I round up and give this book 4.5 stars and highly recommended it if you want a great romantic love story. This is the first book in a series called Sin and Tonic.
I really liked this book! There was a great backstory, tons of chemistry, and a great grasp on the meaning of things and why they are what they they are!
Quinn is a consultant at an agency and she is thrilled she just received her first solo assignment in revamping a bar. She wants to prove that she can do this on her own for some very unsavory but legit reasons. This is super important to her as well as her reputation.
Conner's brother bought a bar and wants to have it renovated to fit his plans, but Conner is very freaking particular about how things are going to go down that he has had multiple consultants quit, until Quinn. He is an ex-rocker who is looking to find his place as well.
These two have immediate chemistry, but Quinn is extremely worried about anything actually happening between the two of them because he is a client. It is so hard to stay away though. What a conundrum!
Check out this book if you like fun, realistic, but tangible reads. I absolutely adored this book and loved it every step of the way.... and I think you will too!!
5 outta 5 stars!
I received this book in advanced but am voluntarily reviewing it!
Another massive hit for Athena Wright! Kiss and Tell is the first book in the Sin and Tonic series by Athena. Quinn works at a prestigious interior design firm and embarking on her first solo job with the firm. Quinn is tasked with designing a complicated bar remodel. Connor is a former rockstar and younger brother of the bar owner who is working closely with Quinn on the bar's remodel. The chemistry between Quinn and Conner is like a blazing inferno. Conner makes it clear to Quinn that he wants more than a working relationship with her, but Quinn's reputation is at stake if anyone finds out about them. Will Quinn give into her attraction to Connor? Can Connor be more than a fling? Will Quinn and Connor find their happily ever after? I loved Kiss and Tell by Athena Wright. Athena is a MUST read author for this reader. Kiss and Tell is a fantastic book with great characters that will keep the reader entertained from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend getting Kiss and Tell by Athena Wright. I received an ARC of this book, and I am leaving my honest review.
An intense yet light-hearted real feel romantic read between Quinn and Connor.
When Quinn gets her first big remodel job on her own. It's for new bar owner Conner, whose life once revolved around his band. Now onto new things, he's finding he is not the best at the business end. Quinn has one chance, with a sabotaging blackmailing co-worker, and higherups who will let her fall. She needs to reform the bad boy singer right away- not fall for him. Things have a way of not always working out as we plan. I enjoyed the ups and downs of their frustrating relationship. How messy and ordinary it seemed. While still carrying that spark of * wouldn't that be excellent* in the background. Quinn's issues in her workplace lead the way throughout the story, while Connor tries to pick up pieces of a complicated puzzle to learn more about her. A candid and heated walk through life, with a sprinkling of charm and heat- the first book in the Sin and Tonic Series- I am looking forward to reading the next!
Kiss and Tell, is the first book in a new series and it is full of manipulation, romance, hot dirty sex, twists and is standalone. This is going to be an awesome series and this book is the beginning and a great start. I really enjoyed reading Conner and Quinn's story and can't wait for the next one. Conner has retired from his band and the touring. He doesn't talk about it, as it hurts too much. His brother has decided to take on a renovation of a dive bar and has placed Conner in charge. He has a meeting with a design consultant tomorrow. Quinn has been working for this chance to prove herself to the bosses and to another. Her goal is to build her reputation and then start her own company. She has worked without pay and interned with this company and moved up to this chance. She refuses to let anyone get in the way of her dream. Quinn decides to check out the building inside and out. She goes to the club and sits at the bar, with a drink, then decides to check out what is down the hall. She's opening doors to see what's behind them and one door, the restroom, has an out of order sign on it. Her back is to it when she is startled when the door opens and a man comes out...
Awesome beginning to this new series. First we met the Rock stars, now we get a sneak peak at what happens to life after leaving the music industry. Connor gave up his Rock Star life to own and manage a new bar. His brother Walt who runs a back dive bar that famous musicians like to frequent, has given Connor full creative control to renovate and develop a new bar. This is where he meets Quinn, a feisty young interior designer who has a one track mind of advancing her career to one day work for herself.
The have instant chemistry, yet Quinn is determined to keep their relationship completely professional even at the cost of missing out on what could be something amazing. Connor is the perfect book boyfriend, but has one very hard road ahead to convince Quinn that he is worth the risk. I thought this was a great read and can't wait to delve more into this new world of characters. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.
I love how it’s filled with anxieties that we can all relate to.
I love how soft and sweet Conner is, in comparison to so many other male characters I read about. He might still be a little cocky but it seems like a very thin lair of who he truly is; a sweet guy who’s had his soul ripped out by betrayal and circumstance, a guy who just wants to find somewhere to belong and someone to love him..
I love Quinn equally as much, but for other reasons. I love how driven she is and how smart she is. This is a female character that knows to use her smarts to pull the rug from beneath the suckers, who try to take advantage of her; she knows to think ahead. Furthermore, I love the crossroads she finds herself at, because it too is so relatable.
So, what I’m trying to say really, is I LOVED IT!! Can I have more, PLEASE??
Can a book be lighthearted and serious at the same time? The 1st book in the Kiss and Tell series, Sin and Tonic, has everything. It's a fun easy read with a "hero" you love to love and a "bad" guy you love to hate. Misunderstandings, regrets, blackmail, renovations, old injuries, and past ghosts are just a few of the things Quinn and Connor, our characters, need to face. I also love the references and tie in to old places (hello grungy bar) and characters (more Walt please ) from past books. I spent half the book sympathizing with Quinn and her workplace issues and the other half screaming at her to get her priorities straight. Poor Connor, the things he has to deal with. Sorry to be vague, but I hate giving spoilers-read the story and you won't be sorry. I loved it and so will you! Sin and Tonic has an absolutely deliciously satisfying HEA-if you can survive the back and forth, hair pulling tension. A read an ARC and am giving my honest opinion of this awesome book.
Quinn has a lot to prove and is involved in a restoration that is about to change not only her career but her life as well. While checking out the project, she spills her drink on a tall, dark and delicious man. The flirting sparks but gets cut off. The career driven Quinn has to focus on the sticky and in poor shape bar.
The next day she has to meet the owner who can't even show up on time and the nerve to show up disheveled. To her surprise it's the mysterious flirt Connor.
As they collaborate together, it's getting harder and harder to deny the explosive chemistry, yet as they get closer their pasts may cause a roadblock.
Loved the story. It's like a sexy book version of "bar rescue" but here the bar may be how they met but the rescue is each other. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.
Quinn & Connor will renovate & redesign their way into your heart
Quinn wants to succeed at her job. She's young, and driven. And at the mercy of a lying, sleazy leech at work. She's given her first big independent project and this brings Connor into her orbit. Her ability to resist his deliciousness is tried. They are instantly drawn to each other. She helps guide him in his new path and find a purpose. He helps her find her footing between work and personal. I love the introduction to the Sin & Tonic world!! We get to visit Walt and Jessie and Gael and we get new people and a world to explore. I cannot wait for more!! Steamy, tender, sweet, fantabulous, with that dash of drama and those questions the players need to find the answers to explored and answered. Floved!!! I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I loved how they come from different backgrounds and how it fitted in so well with Walt. I loved that we got to see more into Walt a bit even if not much.
I loved how they relationship developed, I just couldn’t give a 5 star as I thought the solution she came up with could have been dealt with earlier as she put her name on items. It like she just remembered. There was also time where I thought she be going to work after calling in sick and we have no idea what happened she just met her mam.
I hope Mason gets a story that keep in the same universe and would love to keep hearing about the others and especially Quinn and Conner.
I received an advance copy of this book for an unbiased opinion.
4.5 stars for this lovely romance. Quinn and Connor are such sweet characters, particularly Connor. It is great to read a story where our hero is grumpy to start with, but whose golden heart and vulnerabilities are displayed sympathetically without him loosing his man card 😊😊. Both characters have a deep core of kindness at their centres which compliments their individual vulnerabilities to make them even more appealing. Quinn's ambitions are well described as are her fears for her future. She and Connor make a great team, each having chinks in their respective armours, but both having an integrity which means they support each other, the don't exploit. A sweet, heart warming romance with lots of the 'ah' factor.
This book was a really good well paced, well written, read! I was hooked from the very start and still wanted more when I read the last word.
I got a feel for Quinn and Connor; she was totally believable and so real to me. Connor was just a sweetheart who has my heart already! I loved the build up to their feelings but I want more from these characters as well as all of his friends and relatives. I really felt Quinn’s struggle with regard to her job versus her love life and felt very strongly about one of her colleagues in general. So mad!
I have never read any of Athena Wright’s books before but I am looking forward to the rest of this series and I’m really hoping that we get a lot more of these two in particular.
While I found Quinn and Connor's story to be a sweet, romantic read with plenty of steam, it seemed a little light? for me. You could definitely tell something in Quinn's past was hurting him, but I didn't FEEL it as much as in this author's other series. Quinn left the music industry. I liked the cameo from Cherry Lips to kind of tie it with that series, but it was kind of lost. It felt like there should have been more to it - including the ending. Yes, both parties had a journey and obstacles to overcome, but I guess I was expecting more? Still....an entertaining read (more like 3.5*- as I read it in one sitting! ;) I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review
3-1/2 -4 Stars. Book one in the Sin and Tonic series. Can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone with HEA. Being told in only the female MC POV had it feeling like too much of the book is in her head. Quinn was very standoffish for most of the book, and her backstory and job situation took up the majority of the story. I prefer books where there is more romance. It didn't seem like Quinn and Connor spent much time together other than a few work meetings. I didn't feel their chemistry, if anything I felt bad for the way Quinn treated Connor. I loved Athena Wright's Cherry Lips series and look forward to reading more from this series even though this wasn't my favorite.
Pull up a stool, have a drink, and watch the sparks fly. Athena's newest series kicks off with Quinn and Connor. Quinn is a strong, driven, young woman who faces misogynistic issues at work that plague many women today. When Connor enters Quinn's world through work for a bar renovation, he becomes the catalyst for change that sends Quinn on a path to find her happy. Told from Quinn's POV, Athena does a fantastic job at taking us on Connor's journey also. A touching, sexy, story with some laugh out loud moments. Pick up this book, and be sure to keep an eye out for some old friends.
Beautifully written story. Quinn is skittish from being burned in the past. When she opened up I enjoyed her character very much. She's an extremely hard headed, driven workaholic. Connor is a laid back former musician with a wild side. He is the perfect match for Quinn. Lighthearted with a strong work ethic when he puts his mind to something. So much heartbreak, cloudy pasts, twists and turns and the heat is dripping from the pages. I loved this book. Absolutely 5 stars. The end had me literally jumping for joy with tears and all!
LOVED THIS STORY! Sweet, soulful guy and sweet, hard as nails girl. Connor and Quinn’s story isn’t like a lot of previously published love stories. They didn’t meet in childhood, they didn’t date or know each other in high school, nor did they get setup on a date by well meaning friends. This is a unique story that will have you rooting for them to have an HEA while you are sighing because of how sweet their story is. I definitely recommend this book....especially if you like some steam to go with your reading! I received this book in exchange for this honest review
Great read! Connor is having to start a new career, injury has left him without the ability to play music like he had so he starting over in a new venture with the help of his brother, what he didn't expect was the new designer. Quinn wants to be taken seriously, her career depends on her first solo job, which means Connor is definitely off limits no matter how hot he is. You get heat, sexual tension, flirting and wonderful characters (some cameos too!). Fun read about two people finding where they need to be.
Quinn next assignment is to design a bar owned by a former musician Connor. She needs to make it perfect to proof her worth at the job where a co worker is giving her a bad time. She also knows she has to stay away from Connor they can't get attached. But the chemistry between the two of them is strong and Connor promise to keep it a seacret. Can she make it work or will there be more problems ? A great book that make me smile. So sweet and romantic but also very emotional and exiting. I loved it
