5-stars+ ~ Reviewed by Sharon Thérèse at KindleFriendsForever

I honestly didn’t think Warren would be able to surprise me even more than she'd already had in Overture, but with her wicked penmanship, she’s done it again and very well indeed. Ooh my, the surges of exuberance and angst in vividly described scenes had me sitting on the edge of my seat, and the cliffy... it’s excruciatingly frustrating. Waiting for Sonata, the last book in the North Security Series releasing this summer means my agony instantly became tenfold after turning the last page!

Samantha Brookes left me aghast at every turn. Gone are those days when she was a meek teenage prodigy. Watching her grow into a mature young woman whose voice is heard, who’s not afraid to defend and prove to herself and others, was a joy to read. And learning about how Liam had suffered in his youth provoked tears. A raw emotive romance in all aspects, having tissues at hand isn’t a bad idea.

“I don’t want to hurt for you. That isn’t how love should be”
“It’s the only way I know how.”

Liam. Well, he’s gained a special place in my heart regardless of his weaknesses. Underneath his tough exterior is a sensitive man totally hellbent on discovering the truth and protecting the only woman capable of bringing him to his knees. So why then does he still insist on shadowing Samantha when all she wants is her to be her own woman and on her terms? Believe you me, what evolved was so unexpectedly dangerous and nail-biting that I found myself rereading certain passages.

“All we know is how to survive, Samantha. And we will kill anything that threatens that.”

Liam and Samantha’s story will tug at your heartstrings; the musical references will enchant you in every possible way. Two completely different characters struggle with the past and the present. Will Liam put back on his boxing gloves on and fight for both of their lives, their delicate relationship? Well, we’re going to have to be patient to see what happens.

“She’s the weakest part of you, laid out on a platter for your enemies.”

Concerto overflows with everything I look for in a good book, and definitely a forbidden romance to be reckoned with. Warren’s delivered a well-written and well-thought-out plot that will keep you guessing, and make you turn the pages at lightning speed. The character development is spot on. You’ll love who you should and hate others with a vengeance. I, for one, couldn’t stand one certain interfering individual whose sharp tongue cut deeply. If there were ever a thriller that’s brought out feelings of helplessness, fear and anger in me this year, this is the one!

“Have you managed hundreds, thousands of shows? No, because you’re only a child. Not a very bright one…”

Of course, I mustn’t forget to mention the steaminess! What I really liked most of all though is love comes first, the intimate scenes are just a delectable plus. Hmm...Liam certainly spices things up with his filthy tongue. No pun intended, ladies! Bravo Warren!

“When he touches me, I feel my whole body sing. The notes fill the air even if he steals my breath.”

After finishing this book I had this intense feeling of happiness. This wasn't because I was glad I had finished reading but because I enjoyed it so much. It's been a long time since I had this feeing and that truly made me happy. A book like Concerto is exactly why I love reading.

Just like with the first book I loved that once again music played a big part in the story. This also made me realize I really enjoy books that are about or involve music in some way. There was so much more of everything more in Concerto than there was in the first book. More music, more action, more secrets and way more smoking hot sexual tension between Samantha and Liam.

I literally cannot stop swooning over Liam. He is the epitome of a sexy brooding hero. I love him so much. And I love him with Samantha. I'm also very happy that were lots of sensual moments between them. Way more than there were in the first book. I was not left feeling disappointed in that area. I also thought that this book had a darker feel to it. There wasn't neccesarily anything explicitly dark that happened but it was just a feeling I had and I, of course, loved that. The stakes were definitely raised.

Another thing I loved were all the new characters that were introduced in this book. I just want books about ALL OF THEM. They were all super interesting to get to know even as secondary character. I really hope that the author will at least write a book for Josh and Bethany. I want to know more about the both of them. We already met Josh in the previous book, he's one of Liam's brothers but he intrigues me so freaking much. He has a couple of chapters in his point of view and let's just say that I need more of that.

I'm aware that I say this about every new Skye Warren book that I read but this one might be my new favorite of hers. As much as I loved Overture, the first book in the trilogy, this amazing sequel really kicked it up a notch. I don't give out five stars easily to a lot of books but Concerto definitely deserved it.

Skye Warren literally did it to me AGAIN.

The more I step into the world that Samantha and Liam live in, the more emotional and distraught I become. But not in a bad way, no! Skye Warren has a talent in taking what could’ve been simple forbidden love and manipulating and crafting it into something TWISTY and EXHILARATING.

Overture was an amazing read that went above and beyond my expectations when coming in for the first time. Concerto has completely FLOORED me. The complexities and intricacies of each relationship, dynamic, plot point were thrilling to experience and uncover.

I fell in love with Liam and Samantha in book 1, but Concerto brought the depth and growth that both of these characters need to succeed in love and life. Concerto will leave you on the edge of your seat! I cannot wait for Sonata!!

Thank you for the arc!

My amazement has just reached the next level. I’m not joking. I got so caught up in Samantha and Liam’s story that I can’t think about anything else. I’m enchanted by Skye Warren’s words, like a fan of classical music is enchanted with the sounds of instruments and I can’t wait for the grand finale to give the author a standing ovation. Concerto is full of suspense, surprising twists and passion pours out of the pages of this incredible book. Sit down comfortably, because you will not be able to stop this amazing read even for a second!

Samantha follows her dream and sets off to prepare for the world tour. Unfortunately, to find herself she must leave Liam behind. Although her heart is bleeding the girl is trying to grow up from a sheltered girl into an independent woman. Liam keeps his distance, trying in the same time to keep Samantha safe. But when the danger emerges from around the corner, Liam will become a human wall to protect his beloved. The secrets come to light. The choices have to be made. Will they manage to find a middle ground that will allow Samantha to fulfill her dreams and stay safe at the same time?

Be still my heart... I can’t count how many times my pulse speeded up during this read. Skye Warren played my feelings like maestro! The bond that connects our heroes is so strong that I felt like crying as soon as there were any complications in their relationship. I fell in love with Liam even more and suffered when he struggled with memories and emotions. His devotion to Samantha is so strong that this man would give up his life for her. And Samantha... It was wonderful to watch this girl start to spread her wings. Finally she learned to stand her ground and she gained confidence to speak her mind. And can we talk about sexiness overload? Because Samantha and Liam's chemistry is explosive! I couldn’t get enough of their intimate moments and Liam's dirty mouth.

I’ll start to throw these books in everyone faces, because it's a sin not to read the North Security series. Concerto only confirmed that this is one of the top series of all time and I'm waiting for Sonata with bated breath. Definitely MUST READ!

"He was more than my guardian- he was the axis around which I spun."

Concerto was a sexy and suspenseful story that continues Liam and Samantha's passionate journey. This book was even more intense than the last one, filled to the brim with raw angst and explosive suspense.

"A violin is not a thing- not to someone who plays like me. It's moody and emotional and mysterious. That's what Liam is to me."

There was so much tension in this book and I loved every bit of it. The danger surrounding Samantha grows further as the mystery surrounding her father continues to unravel. Liam's protectiveness reaches new levels, and so do the depths of his feelings for Samantha. Their relationship is steamy and taboo and filled with incredible chemistry. There were some moments in the story that were heartbreaking, as Samantha and Liam struggled both with each other and with themselves. Their relationship is complex for many reasons, and Warren writes their emotional turmoil so well. The intimate scenes were on fire, getting more intense and emotionally-fueled with every encounter.

"She brings out the wild animal in me, the beast that doesn't care about laws or morality. She's mine and I want the world to know it."

The pace of this story was perfectly done and flowed well. The suspense and romance elements played well against each other, blending to form an engaging plot. There were some great new characters introduced that I enjoyed reading about. The writing was fantastic as always, and I loved the multiple POVs we were given. I am really hoping that Josh gets his own story because I would love to read that. The ending of this story was another heart-pounding one that has me eagerly awaiting the next book.

“There’s no denying the obsession I have for Samantha Brooks. No denying the pleasure and the pain that climbs my cock as I pump into her endless, forever.”

Omg finally the second book.. and let me tell you, I DEVOURED Concerto 🙀.. read it in one sitting.. no pee break even🙈.. and I freaking loved it. I need a Liam in my life 🤤..

This story picks up right where Overture left us, with Samantha leaving Liam to go on tour and the readers finding out Alister Brook’s is still alive. Finally on her own, after being Liam’s ward for six years, Samantha has to prepare for her concert with a group of strangers (besides her childhood friend). If that isn’t scary enough, she now has a new role in the upcoming concert that will definitely not keep her out of the lime light. With her life still being endangered, Liam now has to go to extreme lengths to protect her while still fighting his feelings for her. Concerto is filled with secrets and angsty drama. And will leaving you wanting more ....

Samantha and Liam are inevitable, they share an unbreakable bond. And being apart is torture for them.. Liam is the perfect book-boyfriend. He is protective and loyal to Samantha. And will do anything for her.. Liam doesn’t want to be the guy that took advantage of his ward.
The sex between them is undeniably steamy, I just love Liam’s dirty mouth. In this book, we see the love between them even more clearly. We see character development as well. Samantha is coming out of her shell while Liam is learning to be more accepting of his feelings.

Overall this book was a sensational follow-up to Overture!! This cliffy will make you scream though. I need Liam and Samantha to have their HEA.. Can’t wait to devour the next book!!

”You’d love that, wouldn’t you? That would be just the thing for you. The martyr. The savior. I don’t want you to hurt for me, Liam. Can’t you see that? I don’t want to hurt for you. That isn’t how love should be.”

My heart really can't take the torture anymore. I have been holding breath throughout Concerto by Skye Warren. My heart has stopped and started so many times that I can't count. Concerto was an almost religious experience for me. The music flowed from the pages to my body. The devastating passion and heartbreaking emotions were too intense and just perfection.

This story is so much more than an age gap forbidden romance between the violin genius and the special force security specialist. This is a minefield of bloodstained secrets. Each chapter had a shocking surprise. Skye Warren transported me right in the middle of the competitive, melodramatic and talented classical music world. She introduced some amazing secondary characters with intricate details and intriguing personality. She weaved the mystery of Samantha's past and her father along with the musical tour brilliantly. Liam and Samantha's relationship evolved and progressed until the last chapter where mayhem and chaos ensues.

I loved how Samantha grew as a woman. She became stronger, more mature, more assertive and more devoted to Liam. Liam got new layers and complexities too. The author exposed his troubled, tortured and guilt ridden soul. Their bond has become something epic and extraordinary in this story. There is nothing simple and straightforward in this love. And then Skye Warren added element of adventure, conspiracy and thrilling mystery.

In true Skye Warren way, this story sucked me in and left an unforgettable imprint on my heart. I was completely focused on the story. It didn't have a single dull moment. I have been taken through heaven and hell. A truly exhilarating , breathtaking and soulful romance.

Wow! This was an extraordinary second book in the North Security trilogy. From the very beginning the angst is like a music string being tightened as it’s being tuned. The angst ratcheting and the passion exploding. Concerto has all the elements of an extraordinary romantic suspense story. Simply gripping. A lot sinful!

Samantha is finally on her own. Preparing for her upcoming concert, she believes she will remain in the shadows. But with the ever present threat to her life and her new role in the concert, she will now be front and centre.

Although uncomfortable with this place, she would love to be front and centre to Liam North. Liam however is filled with demons and regret.

Will he ever see her as more than a way to punish himself for past mistakes?

Thinking this was the second book in a duet (my mistake) I was all set for the secrets to come out and for these two to find their way to each other once and for all. All I have to say is that I am so glad I was wrong and that this is not the end to their story. I need and want so much more from them and for them.

Liam is so sexy with his dominate ways, his charm and possessiveness. We get more insight into his psyche and how he truly feels. I can’t wait to dive even further into his character and past.

I found that Samantha’s character started to bloom in this instalment. Her character grew leaps and bounds both in strength and self confidence.

These two together is nothing short of a conflagration! So HOT! They are so different but fit each other so perfectly. His worldliness compared to her innocence. Not to mention the fact that it seems like he is emotionally stunted while she is emotionally mature.

I was not only compelled by Sam and Liam but the secondary characters as well. The complexities of both Josh and Harry. They both seem so tortured and I would absolutely ADORE getting stories for both of them.

Skye Warren is the pied piper and this series is her flute. Where she writes, I will blindly follow.

I received an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was so good – I mean, it was, I need to sleep and am so tired, but I stayed up until 4 am to finish it good. You know in a trilogy, the second book is sometimes that wonderful creamy centre, big on decadence, high on gooey goodness, but without a lot of substance to fill you up? Yeah, the is NOT the case here, because this book is better than the first, this book doesn’t even feel like it is in a trilogy, it is a complete, hair-raising, edge-of-your-seat-sitting, make-you-squirm-in-all-the-right-ways, AMAZING!!!

Samantha matures in this story. She has been sheltered, really her whole life, and has gladly stood back and let her life happen. She grows in this book, she learns her power, she finds her strength, and, by the end, she knows her way, and while so many things aren’t clear, her way is with Liam

Liam also finally comes to some realizations in this story. He is strong, he has endured, and he must look after Samantha, no matter what. She isn’t his weakness though; she is what gives him purpose. Stubborn and unseeing for so much of the story, when clarity finally occurs to him by the end, you can almost hear the strength with these two in sync click into place

This book is dark, yeah some of the content is, but it feels like it is dark. Not in a mist, in the shadows, with the little bit of light there is, reflecting and seeming more than it is. Samantha and Liam give off heat that burns when they are together, but they don’t give off any light. A few rays shine on them for a few moments, and then they are snuffed out, covered, blocked. This doesn’t deter them though, they feel each other, seek out each other, and cannot be denied the other. They are not a doomed coupling; they are the couple that will take anyone who stands against them. Now that they know that, watch out!

p.s. What is up with Josh??? and when can I get more #intrigued

Three things that go great together; music, love and sex!  Concerto is the second book in this trilogy, and it is unbelievable.  Overture is a must read to follow along in Concerto but… oh the story line is amazing.  With great characters and a lot of action this book is a real page turner and is impossible to put down!  Concerto is more than 5-stars worth of reading and I highly recommend it.
Samantha Brooks has left the North Securities compound to start a world tour that she has been hired to perform in.  Being a child violin prodigy, Samantha is now a woman and is learning life the hard way.  Having been sheltered for six years as the ward of Liam North, Samantha is now going to learn about big shows and contracts and people that might be out to kill her. Even with all the glamour and showmanship only thing that Samantha can think about is the man that she loves and left behind.  Liam will do anything to keep Samantha safe even if it means separating from his brothers that he runs the security team with.  When Samantha is put in danger once again Liam can no longer keep his distance and only watch her from afar.   Her safety is about to be the concerto that will be played in front of hall full of people, now if only they can make it out alive will the music be able to live on.

This is so much more than I could have imagined. Overture and Concerto are two masterpieces in a row.

I really found myself loving every word, every scene. Beautiful writing, haunting even, especially when exposing the keen poetry of music and violin performances, or the bittersweet tragedy of impossible love.

How can a writer manage to make an intimate scene both lustful and sacred?

I’ve been vibrating with sensual energy all throughout the pages. Atmospheric, this second part is intensely felt, almost electrified with tension and hidden threat and, oh yes, a forbidden bond between guardian and protégé.

This continuation to Overture boasts mysterious secrets, dazzling musical performances, torn hearts and delicious passion. Luxurious to read.

Liam and Samantha hover between separation and magnetic pull. I felt like a live wire between them. This extremely complex, ambiguous relationship beats with a tormented heart and darkly alluring sensuality. Sometimes, a chapter ended with a breathtaking resonance.

The theme of this novel, beyond anything else, is love denied when it is the true catalyst to healing and freedom. Liam is a tortured spirit, darkened by his inhumane roots about which we start to discover more, and Samantha is an orphan who still clings to a needy daughter’s hopes. The interactions between them are precious.

I also enjoyed myself so much with the appearance of Bea and Hugo and their domestic bliss, the savvy Candy and imposing Ivan, and the very meaningful town of Tanglewood.

I’m so satisfied with this story. The power of music touches me every time Samantha plays, and the details of the tour are sophisticated and mesmerizing. A dangerous game of cat and mouse is going on, which would make me fidget and read avidly, with wide-eyed curiosity. This couple is just as entrancing as the suspense plot. He’s like a dragon and a knight combined in one dark warrior. She’s blooming like the strongest flower. I loved how much she grows in this second book, and those shocking last pages full of heartbreak and sacrifice. Stunning.

I am panting for the next masterpiece.

The danger comes from somewhere no one expected. Betrayal threatens to destroy everything he’s built. His business. His family. His life.

When the curtain falls, only one of them will be left standing.

READ AN EXCERPT OF CONCERTO:

"You’re not my guardian anymore.”

“That’s not why. You shouldn’t be near me. You wouldn’t be near me if you knew what goes through my head, all the ways I want to defile you. I’d lock you up and keep you in the dark. I’d make you play for me until your fingers bled.”

This man. The rawness of his voice tells me he speaks the truth—as far as he knows it. But I’m not scared of him. I can’t be scared of him. He had ten thousand chances to hurt me.

I bend to his ear. “Prove it.”

A flash of lightning. Not in the sky. It’s a crackle in the air. I’m not expecting him to really do it, to prove anything to me. No, he will only demur. Only tell me I can’t handle him. That I shouldn’t be near him. The earth turns upside down. God, I should have known. He’s always been a man of action.

He flips us so that he’s over me, and I’m bent over the back of the armchair, clutching the broad padded panel, my ass turned up to him. His hips press against my ass. He speaks against my neck. “I kept myself in check because of your age. Because you were my responsibility. My ward. They were chains around my wrists. Manacles on my ankles. They kept you safe.”

I’m panting and uncertain—and I’ve never been more turned on in my life. I’m hot between my legs, already slippery for him. The animal part of me knows exactly what to do with this aggressive male: submit. Soft where he’s hard. Slick while he’s dying of thirst.

“Now those things are gone,” he says, his voice almost conversational as he lifts my dress. Cool air whispers over my skin. He can see my panties right now. I’m staring at the brown leather, and he can see the place my panties are damp. “What will keep you safe now?”

For maybe the first time in my life, I don’t want to be safe. I push my ass back, tempting him, begging him. “I don’t know,” I say, but they aren’t words. They’re a plea. I need him to do something, anything.

Crack. Pain spreads across my ass cheek.

Oh my God. He spanked me.

“That’s for making my cock hard.” He smooths away the sting with his palm. Two fingers slide my panties down. He touches the outer lips of my sex with a tortured groan. “That’s also for making my cock hard. Everything I do, it’s because you make my cock hard. How’s that for being in control? I’m a grown man being led around by this tight little pussy. No matter where I am or what I’m doing, there’s always part of me wanting inside you.”

I shudder as he works two fingers into my core. I’m so swollen it feels like a stretch, even this much. There’s an ache so acute it feels like a knife. “Liam. Please.”

He finds a place inside me, and my mouth drops open on a silent scream. Above us there are hundreds of people dancing and drinking. I’m coming apart under their feet. His thumb brushes my clit, and my body bucks against his hand—once, twice. He pulls out and pushes in again, fucking me with the column of his fingers the way he’d do with his cock. Friction makes me moan. I hump the leather chair, rocking my hips, shameless, desperate for some kind of relief.

“That’s right,” he mutters. “Make yourself feel good. This is all you have. All you’ll have if you chain yourself to me. Not a stage. Not a goddamn future.”

I want to argue with him, but the climax crashes over me like a tidal wave. I close my eyes against the salt sting and ride it out in a tumult of emotion and pleasure. It leaves my body wrung out and lax. I wash up on the shore of that chair. I’ve been shipwrecked here. Adrift.

Concerto is the second book in the North Security Trilogy. The story of child prodigy violinist Samantha and guardian Liam North picks up from their separation in book one ‘Overture’.

Although the pair have previously acknowledged their feelings, Liam has never been able to accept them being together. The age difference, their guardian/ward relationship and the secrets he’s been carrying keeps them apart.

For the first time, 18 year old Samantha is performing alone in the real world. Her life is in danger with the sins of her father coming back to haunt both Liam & Samantha. But keeping Samantha at arm’s length while protecting her in the background is proving far too difficult for both.
Can Liam resist the temptation?

“I’m starting to think you have a hero complex. You don’t want to be with me? Then don’t worry about my life.”

This series is lyrically beautiful if that makes sense....
Skye Warren did an excellent job of incorporating the poetic beauty of music into an otherwise drama filled story providing light to the dark.
This story ends in a cliffhanger as we await the ending to their story in ‘Sonata’.

It would be an absolute honor to have you as my guest on my blog too. Stop by anytime you want :)

“She brings out the wild animal in me, the beast that doesn’t care about laws or morality. She’s mine and I want the world to know it".

We wanted it, we practically craved it, and we got it. The highly anticipated second part of the North Security Series delivered some gasp moments, new drama, powerful comebacks and let’s not forget the passionate and hot as heck off the charts connection with the main characters. If you were thinking that this was going to be more tame than the first book, I regret to inform you that you’re going to be wrong!! Buckle up because there’s more than one target you’ll need to look out for.

With a cliffhanger that gave us all gray hairs and an anxiety problem, I think I speak for fans of this series when I say that waiting for part two was a HUGE problem. Thanks to my kickass patience skills and lack of fingernails, I made it to the end and I’m so glad that I got the chance to be a part of this journey still and witness what was about to happen. Picking up right where Overture ended, Samantha is now on tour living the dream. Performing and being able to do something that has been an extension of her livelihood is beyond anything that she could’ve ever imagined. But with all of her newfound freedom and adventure, there’s a huge part of her that is missing and no amount of time on the stage is going to fill that void of the one person that she’s missing.

Six years ago, Liam vowed to protect a young innocent girl and to make her all of her dreams come true. Never one to break a promise, he’s kept that vow despite everything and his new feelings for a young woman who’s loved him for years. Now with her safety in danger, Liam will stop at nothing to keep her safe even if it means pushing her away. But how far will these two go to keep each other safe?

From the minute I started this book, I was a bundle of nerves. I felt tense beyond comprehension and even though I knew something was going to happen, I didn’t know when and I was on high alert. Liam wanted to protect Samantha at any cost but by doing that, he was also putting himself in danger and for the readers, that was enough to cause heart palpitations!! With the mystery of who's really after Samantha and the never ending hypnotic pull of these two as they continue to blur the lines of forbidden passion, Concerto will definitely keep you on your toes.

3.5 stars!!

So like with book 1, Overture, this book goes nowhere in terms of the supposed or expect love story between Liam and Samantha.

There is angst. There is also hella smut — I was very happy about it before steam level was really off the charts!

But I still had that empty feeling that their story is just getting started.

It’s probably because they make one step forward and two back the whole time. Pretty annoying (at least to me as a reader) because they are freaking denying what they both what!!

At least we got somewhere in terms of emotions but like dudes, just get it together!!!

This book is definitely more intense than book 1, by like a million.

I definitely wanna know what happens to these two next so time to move onto book #3!!!

After that ending in Overture I have been on pins and needles waiting for the opportunity to read Concerto, the much anticipated follow up to book and let me just say it did not disappoint. Samantha and Liam and their connection had the powerful punch Skye Warren's book always pack as it left me gasping for air and wanting more in the same breath.

Violin prodigy, Samantha Brooks, has left the sanctity of Liam North's protection and is now on a world tour, spreading her wings. But when danger is even closer than she thinks, her love and protector, Liam North returns to be by her side. I enjoyed this story and the new characters and developing storyline in the second North security book. The mystery element was so engrossing and I was left needing more of Skye's amazing words. Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

★4 Stars! Concerto... A book that sings to my soul!
“She brings out the wild animal in me, the beast that doesn’t care about laws or morality. She’s mine, and I want the world to know it.”

Concerto is apart of a trilogy that continues to be a well-written, sensual, emotional, musical and hauntingly beautiful story filled with undeniable passion that sings to my soul!

Not the ending I was looking for... plus I think another book to come??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I try to stay away from series. I don’t always have the time to go back and read books that I’ve missed. However, I love the writing talents of this author and I really wanted to see what’s happened in this next installment.
A story of a May to December love that was quite scandalous and forbidden. A barely legal love affair to remember is what this series is all about.
With plenty of heated connections, Liam and Sam fight to find the balance in their lives and yet function. Protection of Sam is of utmost importance and even though he tries to stay away, sometimes he cannot.
With a few twists of suspense and mystery of the unknown, Warren gives us a story that is sexy, a bit wild and naughty, dripping with a deep and profound love. While I thought book one killed it, this one is a close second. It ends without a clear answer so once again we have to look for another installation. Ack!
Audiobook review. I think my chief complaint with this series is going to be the build up. It’s not necessarily a bad thing but the anticipation for seeing how Samantha and Liam figure themselves out is KILLING me.
I like seeing how Samantha is building her confidence and growing. Liam seems to be hot and cold yet more sure of his feelings despite that. There’s an added twist in this book that added a stronger suspenseful element and hiked up the action.
Teddy Hamilton did a wonderful job narrating. He is truly an MVP of this aspect of the romance world. Grace Grant did a better job with the male voice. She still slows down but it’s not affecting the flow as much this time around.
I am looking forward to the next installment.
⭐️ 4 "Music Wonderland" Stars ⭐️
After the way I fell in love with Overture, the delicious slow burn forbidden romance that marks the start of the North Security Series, I was highly anticipating the follow up book. Skye Warren, with her wonderful prose, brings passion and emotion into Concerto. She also raises the suspenseful vibe of a few degrees!
"The moment her lips touch mine I'm suffused with music, thousands of notes that she's played for me, a million heartbeats."
Samantha is not under the care of Liam anymore. She’s on her own on a concert tour. For the first time in six years, she’s free from his watchful eyes or at least for a while. Liam is still her fierce protector and having her away is difficult on him. He needs to be near the young woman and nobody can guard her as well as him. As much as he denied his feral attraction to her in the previous novel, now that the forbidden fruit has been tasted, it’s clear that his body and his head aren’t in sync. As much as he wants to resist his pupil, Samantha’s innocence and light is irresistible to him!
Their stolen moments are poignant, but also scorching hot! Samantha grows into a beautiful young woman knowing what she wants. She won’t be a puppet that can be manipulated and she shows it with assertiveness on several instances. It certainly clashes with Liam’s ever-present authority! That broken man isn’t often refused anything with his alphaness and commanding presence, but Samantha is his weakness.
Yes, Concerto was a pleasant read for me, however I preferred the first novel. It might be due to the fact Liam and Samantha’s relationship was all about anticipation in Overture and it made me so eager for more! Also, this present book had too many descriptive sequences about the concert in itself and I didn’t really care about that stuff. Otherwise, on the plot and characters aspects, this story was amazing!
"That's the irony of this concerto. The stage was both my freedom and my cage."
I can’t wait for Sonata to discover the future of these beloved characters and unveil the mystery about the threats planning over Samantha. I’m also intrigued about Josh and hope to get his own book or series! Concerto was a pleasing, exciting book that gave me a nice time!
“The moment her lips touch mine I’m suffused with music, thousands of notes that she’s played for me, a million heartbeats.”
I loved the second book in this series! ❤️
Concerto was full of mystery and secrets that needed to be discovered. I loved how Samantha changed from the first book to the second. In this particular book, she was bold and faced the danger and her fears. 👍 I have no idea what the next book will bring, but please don’t hurt anyone anymore. Because the last part of the book was pretty cruel if you ask me.
3,5 stelle
Ritroviamo Samantha Brooks alle prese con la sua carriera in giro per il mondo e lontano da Liam il quale non riesce a non preoccuparsi per lei…
L’ho trovato noioso rispetto al primo, troppi dettagli a mio parere sulla carriera e nella prima parte Liam si intravede poco e niente, solo verso 3/4 del libro si riprende.
Concerto follows violin prodigy Samantha Brooks right down the rabbit hole as she embarks on her first world tour. Finally aging out of Liam North's custody, the forbidden longing that's burned between her and her guardian evolves into something not quite as taboo as it once was but certainly just as complicated.
This second installment in this Skye Warren series is full of passion and steam, enthralling new characters, and unpredictable twists at every turn. Truly, Samantha Brooks is Alice, stepping through the looking glass straight into another world full of colorful personalities and twisted perceptions where everyone is either trying to take or give or pull or trick... I couldn't turn these pages fast enough. You never know everything... or everyone...  and nothing is at it seems.
These characters have so many secrets and in true Skye Warren form, our heroine is but a pawn on a chess board. But she's a tough cookie, our Samantha, learning how to stand on her own and it was fascinating to watch her navigate the chaos that is her new life. I just can't wait to see who wins the game.
The writing in Concerto is just LUSH. The storyline even more layered and twisted than Overture. And with the way this story just ended, Sonata can't come soon enough. I NEED MORE. I'm loving this storyline. I'm loving these characters. I'm loving Skye Warren's storytelling and I can't wait for what's to come.
Concerto is the second book in the North Securities trilogy and as wonderful as Overture was to read, Concerto is even better as we get to watch how both Liam and Samantha grow in their pull towards one another.
Being pushed from the only home she’s known for the past six years, Samantha is now on her own. Or, as “on her own” as Liam will let her go. Set to begin a tour starting in Tanglewood with Liam’s brother as her security detail, Sam starts to get her footing and grow from the child prodigy in to the woman she is destined to become. But much to Liam’s dislike, Samantha is not just one of many in a concert: she’s one of the stars. And with danger facing Samantha, Liam’s commitment to keeping his distance from her is a promise to himself that he can’t keep.
As we saw in Overture, Liam and Samantha’s relationship is one of opposites. He’s the darkness to her light. The dominance to her innocence. The silence to her music. They are simply beautiful together and this story is one that I devoured until its completion.
Although reading other books from this author is not necessary (other than Concerto), I still loved seeing old characters from other series as well as meeting new people who I hope get stories of their own. Skye Warren doesn’t just write actors into her tales; she gives literary birth to living, breathing characters that I feel genuine emotion towards. And there are so many here that I love, including Samantha’s music which became alive with a magic all its own.
Overture was truly breathtaking to read, and impossible to put down.
After reading Overture, I honestly didn’t know what to expect from this one—especially in terms of the storyline. But Skye Warren continues to astound me with her ability to have you hooked and sucked even deeper into a world she creates for the reader. I got lost in Wonderland. I fell into the rabbit hole and there’s no escaping for me until I get that last book. Until I learn all the other truths still hidden in the story and the fate of these two characters.
I still feel voiceless without the four hundred grams of wood in my arms. Liam North is the exception. When he touches me, I feel my whole body sing. The notes fill the air even if he steals my breath.
In Concerto, Liam and Samantha were absolutely sexier, more explosive and intense than ever. The whole book was like the crescendo in a symphonic masterpiece. There were jaw-dropping revelations, heartbreaking scenes, and shocking twists you won’t see coming. Every moment will keep you on the edge of your seat, anxious of what will come next. And by the end of it all, after getting a deeper glimpse of what these two have gone through, you’ll just want them to have that happily ever after they truly deserve.
I would still be a mindless killing machine if I’d never found her, drowning in bodies and blood. She made me breathe again.
I’m more than ready for that finale! I definitely can’t wait to read and have Sonata in my hands.
