Dani and Emmett, Dani's brothers best friend fall in love at 13, and the world only exists for the two of them. After a heartbreaking devastation that shatters their world, Dani leaves without a backward glance. She returns years later, back to her brothers arms... and finds herself faced with her brothers best friend all over again.

This is a heart wrenching story that made me ugly cry on many occasions throughout. The utter devastation written on the pages just shattered me and I had so many feels. I absolutely loved the song references, most of them I knew and sang along to, and the poems I also had heard before and I reccomend reading them for a real feel of the situation. It was beautiful. And emotional.

I Never Planned on You. Where do I start? This book made me feel ALL the emotions. Stefanie Jenkins took me on a rollercoaster. From the beginning I fell in love with Dani and her childhood sweetheart, and then my heart was ripped out. I felt everything along with these characters. Watching Dani evolve and come out of the other side, and meet the swoony Kyler... I was rooting for them SO hard!
Be prepared for this book, it will give you ALL the feels! And some very steamy scenes along the way!
A 5 STAR read with a HEA. I'm dying to read the next book now!

A lovely story that had me crying several times throughout, both sad tears and sad tears. There was a little bit of tense swapping going on but with experience I have no doubt this author will deliver amazing books.

Hooked me from the very first chapter and I devoured this book. Dani and Kyler’s story is an emotional one that is beautifully written and you really get a sense of what the characters are feeling – going through it with them. Due to this expect to start crying, I wasn't that far into this book before I had tears in my eyes. Stefaine’s debut is a masterpiece, I look forward to following her career and future works. Bring on her next creation.

So this book started out so sweet, it’s Danielle’s 13th birthday and she’s asked out by her brothers best friend Emmett.
The pair begin dating and 4 years later are still together day planning their happy forever after.
But then the unthinkable happens and breaks Dani’s heart. This is when you really start to become invested in Dani as a character because you absolutely do not want experience what she’s going through. The pain is so raw and so real and yes I did actually cry whilst reading this! Because everyday some point has experienced grief. And this just makes the book so much more emotionally raw for the reader.
And the thing is Dani is such a lovely character that you really want her to overcome her grief. So when she meets Kyler as a reader you really start to want this to happen for her.
And a Kyler is what book boyfriends are made of! He’s so dreamy and hot and swoon worthy.
If your looking for a deep book then this is it! You’ll cry, but you’ll love the characters and really want them to get their HEA.

The storyline had potential but the writing just wasn’t my thing. It definitely reminded me of my wattpad days which I do not want to relive 😟

Also the use of “baby” can be sweet in a book but sis… not every damn spoken line 🥲 like Jesus Christ baby babe baby baby baby babe baby baby babe.

    It’s a ✨no✨ from me, I wouldn’t recommend.

It has been a while since I ugly cried so hard and full on sobbed that I had to stop crying before I could keep reading just to start all over again.

This book started off strong and had me falling in love with the characters. I loved this family and the friendships. The love they have for each other was so sweet.

I was heartbroken right along with them. The emotions were so real and devastating.

Danielle had every ounce of my heart. I loved her so much and her character growth. I can’t imagine what she went through.

Kyler was the perfect man, he was patient, kind and so understanding. He truly cared for her and everyone else, I love how he went about supporting them.

I loved the chemistry between them and their friendship.

😓Wtf did I just experience, Wrecked Emotionally
I cried , I cried some more and then when I thought there was nothing left I curled up in the foetal position and cried some more. The hurt that Danielle felt when she lost “ Emmett” the boy she had loved since she was 13 years old, they had plans and dreams and were going to live and grow old together. Life was as it was meant to be, until tragedy strikes and Emmett is taken from this world and allDanielles Dreams are gone.
The pain that Danielle experiences jumps out of the pages into you and you feel and experience her pain as if it has happened to you
The hurt is real and raw , very rarely has a book made me feel this way and I was a bloody mess. I started to relive my own pain of losing a loved one , not a partner like our leading lady but a loved one where the hurt was intense.
The journey we are taken on with Danielle and how she is thrown into a world without Emmett,
Years pass and so much happens ( you need to read as I’m nit going to spoil it for you) and without realising it Live knocks on Danielle’s door again ( sort of 🤣) in the form of her brothers best friend. Can she do this again after losing Emmett also her brothers best friend.
We are taken in the moving forward with her , the guilt felt by doing so the strange feelings that she begins to feel and likes.
Then realising that by not allowing herself this chance of living again and being loved that she is disrespecting the memory of Emmett, he had his chance of a forever and always taken from him for them and she was wasting the chance she was given even though it was not with Emmett
I learnt and realised so much being able to experience and learn and grow with Danielle in her stages of recovering from grief and allowing herself to be able to experience falling in love and being loved again when she meets Kyler.
Kyler a truely remarkable young man who sees and wants to help heal the young woman he meets and falls in love with.
The permission scene “ spoiler alert” between Kyler and Emmett had me reaching for the tissues again
Copious amounts of coffee was drunk by myself to get through this book
Thank you Stefanie you broke my heart but you
also taught me that moving on is a normal part of life but it is also a journey that for each individual may be a different passage of time. Grief and loss is not a path we want to take but it is inevitable unfortunately.
I now know I can take the chance and like Danielle survive so I can go on and read similar stories where I will cry bucket loads of tears go through copious amounts of tissues and have my kids ask me “ what the hell is wring mum” 🤣😂
A good bloody book was my reply.
That it was. Thank you Stefanie.
Apologies for punctuation mistakes it’s 4am in the morning and I woke up realising I hadn’t finished this review.

What do you do when you lose the love of your life at the age of eighteen? How do you go on?
Danielle and Emmet had their whole life ahead of them . They were young, madly in love and had their happily ever after planned out.
Sadly life had other plans. When Emmet is suddenly taken away from her Dani has to learn to live without her other half and find the strength to do so.
This is a story about tragic loss, learning to live with a new normal and finding yourself along the way. She needs to deal with the survivors guilt she feels and realize that she does deserve love and her own happily ever after.
Get the with a nd tissues ready. The author rips your heart apart but puts it back together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartache with a twist of sweetness
Reviewed in Australia on 31 December 2019
Heartache, a million times over. I cried through half of this book it totally wreaked me. It was a sad, beautiful love story about loss, forgiveness and second chances. I thought I would never forgive the authot for the tears she made me cry but boy did she get back in my good graces with Kyler. He was just amazing. He was charming, sweet, goofy and just plan adorable.
Dani broke my heart so many times I truly felt for her I just wanted to hug her for all eternity.
This story brought all the feels and more it was a magical, sweet story that had you ball your eyes out but than smile at the sweetness and charms that was Kyler.
This story will stick with me for a long time because it did everything a love story should do and the author and her words are just magical.
