There’s only one thing harder than sharing office space with Finn Anderson: keeping my mind off him.

Weeks ago, he kissed me senseless and walked away. But my best friend’s cousin is back – and worse? He’s one of the only people I know in Edinburgh.

With his seductive Scottish accent and alluring blue eyes, one look from Finn sets my heart racing. Exchanging playful quips at office happy hours and smoldering glances through conference room doors proves that our chemistry is undeniable. Our connection, irrefutable.

But I can’t fall for Finn. Even though I’m halfway there.

He doesn’t do commitment or relationships.

Last month, I thought we were done. Over.

Turns out we’re just getting started.

R A T I N G: 3 stars to One Last Chance ★ ★ ★

I want to protect Daisy from the dreadful outcome that would ensue if we hooked up. I also want to stake some type of claim on her like a Highlander from yesteryear.

The air between us shifts, an undercurrent becoming a riptide. I’m drawn to her confidence, impressed by her poise. Daisy Kane knows exactly what she wants.

One Last Chance is a multicultural age-gap workplace romance set in Scotland that speaks to new adult adventure, a commitment to living undaunted, adjustment to settling into pastures new and playing at hopeless distance and senseless attraction with a love-phobic Scotsman. Gina Azzi writes a great roll-up-her-sleeves, kick-starting kind of heroine, very down to earth in that unexceptional place where starting her career means leaving a hometown life. Launching into the professional work-sphere across an ocean and flirting with the idea of a stubborn Scotsman broaches something tastier than Scotland’s national dish.

I’m new to Gina Azzi romance but that doesn’t humour a lot about me because I’m practically inexperienced next to most romance readers (much as I’m diehard for this genre), and that’s to say I’d be fresh-eared and deer-eyed to most romancing wordsmiths if you threw a name at me. Go ahead, I probably won’t know. What I loved most about this story is Daisy’s no-fear, ‘go get ‘em’ spirit. It’s scary, it’s fresh, it’s exciting, it’s tummy-stuttering anxious to not only declare a bittersweet goodbye to your home but to pick life back up on foreign land. Azzi made me care about Daisy’s new life and I had my own resolve to her flourish In this welcoming city setting. The Sunday market scene was an especial favourite.

When I’m obliged to hold onto the coattails of someone else’s adventure, you better assume I’ll sit thrilled and straddle the journey with a half-moon on my face and some hope in my heart. Decidedly upbeat Daisy definitely gave me something to get excited about. I was giddy over her delight in wanting to discover a new city but I also appreciated the realness of representing her homesickness; calibrating to this move, enjoying the new social experiences and professional excitement but still grieving the difference, still missing her brothers back home in Savannah, Georgia. In any case, I Ioved her no regrets, it’s time to be brave and live boldly maxim. Azzi characterises her heroine’s personal progress really well; she’s believable, aspiring and genuinely appealing.

With desperately jaded Finn, he’s someone who professes every reason not to repeat an aforementioned kiss shared with Daisy just Christmas passed. That’s why this book doubles as a second chance romance. It’s the quintessential battle of the head and the wounded heart for Finn. He’s tried investing in forever but it was a tragedy that hurt him enough to lock down his heart and never choose love. Nobody is exceptional and neither is his fear of diving into someone’s heart while offering up his own, but it still slays hope for any future open to loving someone, anyone. Some things though? They’re a long time in wait, even for no-commitment Finley…but his character (in my opinion) suffers for it. He blew hot and cold too much for my liking, and Daisy still pined for him the entire way through.

It’s when Daisy is employed in Finn’s family’s business; when they’re not divided by countries, ocean and land, she’s all he can think about. The desirability between them shows no signs of wilting to a fine dust even when they’re tables away in the same workspace. Wasting his life by hiding behind a wound, reasoning his bachelor lifestyle away with excuses and defending their relaxed, uncommitted friends-with-benefits fling by blowing up boundaries that speak to age gap, perspective, history and workplace complications is Finn’s pathological fallback. Finn Anderson might not yet know it, but he’s destined for what he vetoes with unswerving confidence.

With any romance, you’ll find that a reader wants to enjoy the selling the point: the romance. Finn and Daisy’s chemistry is decent; the heat is there, the tension, the flirtatiousness, the angst and the dialogue is always natural and never strained. That’s why I was admittedly crestfallen by the lack of sexy scenes. That, and the romance lacked substance and forward movement because of Finn.I’ve read enough romance that when two protagonist’s have a genuine, subtextual/on-page desire, I want to see the spark manifest and the burn to blow me away. It’s like a runner at speed made to shelve his run from the full mile; without a place to unload all that brimming, burning adrenaline. I naturally felt unsatisfied because I expected more fire from them. Romance enthusiasts, be prepared for a romance sans smut.

Every romance has the right to take its own path and it’s every author’s right to pilot their own story. I love that Daisy’s purpose for living in Scotland is bound to her goals and not because Finn’s life is there. I love that she commits to the idea that any chance to be with Finn would be a luxury, knowing she’s here to have a life for herself, but I’m not sure how much of this holds true when I felt that she was covertly always in wait for Finn. And Finn? He was too much of a bachelor to appreciate, his behaviour disproportionate and unnecessarily overblown when all he had for rationale was a heartbreak sitting in his past.

Too many books in this genre represent main characters who live utterly reliant on each other; lives are sacrificed in this ‘I live only for you’ roulette. I was truly glad that the author didn’t follow in those footsteps with Daisy and Finn, but I also believe that living fearlessly doesn’t always mean saying yes. I was proud every time Daisy put herself out there, but I wanted her to speak up, to not let Finn walk away without having her say and holding her own against him. To speak her full mind, angry, upset or otherwise. And I wanted FInn to fight for her, to not resist her/hide from her or bemoan his incapability to be more for her.

I have my doubts with the ‘keep it casual’ trope. A few reasons being: the relationship can come off as the shallow-with-no-meaning sort, too much angst betrays real feelings that are hidden and only come out come the finale or hearts naturally get hurt despite the hero and heroine lying to themselves the whole way through. In spite though, it can absolutely hit the heart in the feelers with a satisfying outcome. I do like a man who goes after what he wants but for me Finn took his sweet time in dropping his guard. He seemed resigned even after the big split up storm. I wanted to see him make strides with Daisy because he wanted to. He never says what he wants or means, even though he’s there for Daisy in the right moments. The problem I have with emotionally absent male love interests Is you don’t know how long they’ll maintain the emotional absence for, and the ball is usually in their corner because of their reluctance.

I love a story with a big cast; there’s something to be said for that sort of fallback support and level of energy. When I quickly became aware that lady Kane had not one, not two, oh yes but three older brothers with established relationships, I got my fingers moving and educated myself in what Azzi coins The Kane Brothers series. If you’re looking to see how Daisy’s older brothers got heir HEAs, you can imbue yourself in their series of standalones.

As it was, my first sweep with Gina Azzi began with the first book in the Finding Love In Scotland spin-off series. There’s the Christmas kiss that’s alluded to (I don’t know if this happened in a previous book) and we’re acquainted with the fact that Daisy and Finn have history but I don’t know to what level/extent they share history. For readers who have habit of unknowingly diving off into spin-offs, I would appreciate a bit more backstory; to summarise history with supporting characters and to explain Finn and Daisy’s background. I’m just a reader who loves those details to dine on.

One Last Chance is not a book of big surprises and electric showdowns, but of real challenges and relatable growth. A nice blend of individual development, career-focus and friends/family comfort bolsters Daisy’s NA coming-of-age. The writing has a neat and natural tenor that ties into a well-written story. A sharp, collected businessman meets a bright-side-up sweetheart; the deep doubts rattle and hearts shake from the possibility. If young love was enough to benchmark every relationship to follow, this best friend’s cousin’s romance foreshadows a second coming for one last chance.

C O N T E N T_W A R N I N G: Mention a past death by cancer. Drinking, no explicit/graphic sex scenes. Sexual assault and some swearing.

E X T R A - T H O U G H T S:

1) Sadly, the hero wasn't particularly it for me in this romance 😕

2) I’d definitely recommend this one for readers who appreciate fade-to-black, alluded to or vaguely expressed bedroom scenes with no graphic content. I might have pouted with disappointment without some sexy content, but that being said, the sensuality was written well. I just really felt the vacancy.

3) In the break up scene I didn’t like that Finn manipulated the fight by morphing his projections into blame that he piled onto Daisy. He needs to get over himself. He felt betrayed by her hopes for the relationship when he had those same hopes. I really wished Daisy had taken the chance to drop some truth bombs on him for the sake of perspective. It’s clear that he’s the self-sabotaging type but we really miss out on the best parts of a potential get-together when one protagonist pushes too hard at the boundaries of commitment. I preferred the first half to the second because I was just sort of waiting for Finn to make a move but when they finally have a real feelings talk at the almost-end of the book, it’s mostly a case of Daisy readily accepting without making Finn work for it. The make-up scene was also kind of underwhelming and things were wrapped up quickly between them. I needed a lot more.

4) At one point Finn mentions that a conversation with his ex unloaded half a decade of emotional expression. I’m not sure that’s really realistic, and i think he should have had some sort of therapeutic intervention if his history with one woman had affected him so deeply.

5) There are a few continuity errors - At the start, we’re told Jax is Daisy’s older brothers but then it later says Denver is. In another scene Daisy puts on a robe, enters bed and is then in a state of undress (without said robe) - there was a similar thing with Finn where he’s wearing jeans after a work day when he’s usually decked out in his usual work suits. There might have been a few character names swapped out for each other too.

I loved Finn and Daisy! They totally clicked even though Finn fought it almost every step of the way. It totally made the HEA even better. 😁

FINALLY! Daisy & Finn’s story. I’ve missed these guys so much <3

Daisy is the baby sister to all of those amazing Kane boys. We got to know her a good bit in their books, but I never saw this ambitious, go getter coming. If I’m being honest, I wouldn’t have ever given her those traits. But she’s that and more and I adored her!

Finlay aka Finn aka hot as sin Scotsman is perfect for Daisy. He just doesn’t know it yet. Although he quickly learns when she moves across the world to fill a position in his family’s company. He can’t stop thinking about her, even though he wants to. He thinks because of his crappy history with one failed relationship means he can’t do it again. Uh, news flash! Yeah ya can. We’ve all be dumped on at some point. Move on, love.

Any who...I loved their connection. The fun, flirtatious duo will keep you smiling! BONUS! We get to see Den & Sierra get hitched <3

Oh my me! I was so waiting, not so patiently for Daisy's story! And it was soooo worth the wait!

One Last Chance is Daisy Kane and Finlay Anderson's story.  We have seen both characters interwoven in the other Kane Brothers novels.

First off, I have never been to Scotland, but it's on my bucket list. Gina's descriptive words are magic and bring you right in the heart of Stockbridge and Edinburgh. I could picture myself right there with Daisy as she explored her new home.

And now the best part, Daisy! I absolutely loved her bravery and fresh start mantra! To move across the pond, away from her family and friends to start a whole new life for herself.  Sure she had her best friend's family there with her to have a support system, but she was standing on her own two feet.

Finn is a smooth talker (I can just imagine that Scottish brogue....swoon). He has had a disastrous try at a relationship and it has scarred him.  He is stubborn and fights his feelings for Daisy.

But wowza, the chemistry between Finn and Daisy is hotter than Hades! You can feel the heat coming off the pages and I like the fact that they were friends and colleagues first. When they finally decided to take the "one day at a time" approach to relationship you could tell both Daisy and Finn were trying to figure out what was really going on with them.  The dual POV's were essential to this.  I loved to see how both Daisy and Finn's minds were trying to wrap around what was going on.

Every book that Gina writes is even better than the last and One Last Chance is just proof of the epic writing talent that is Gina Azzi! I cannot wait for Aaron's book next!

Gina Azzi does it again! Not only do we get to see how Daisy and Finn’s Love story plays out, but we get to see how the rest of the Kane family is doing. Not only did Gina give you a story about Love in the work place and second chances. You also get to know a little about the next story coming up! Aaron! After what he goes through in this story. I’m rooting for him to have better luck at Love the next time around!

I've loved every book Gina Azzi has ever put out, so I went into this book, the first in a new series (or rather, the first of the spinoff from the Kane Brothers series), with great enthusiasm. Ms. Azzi is so good at writing characters that feel like real people, with the same flaws, hangups, and phobias that we all do.

Case in point - Finn is a successful exec in his family's advertising agency. He's got looks, money, and seems content limiting his relationships with women to casual sex. To quote him, he doesn't "do relationships". Enter Daisy Kane, a girl seven years younger than he, with whom he has history. When she moves from Georgia, USA to take a job as a first-year in his family's company, all the doubts he's ever had about his life choices resurface, and he can only wonder if she could be the one to risk it all for.

I have to be honest - I didn't like Finn for much of the book. I didn't like the way he acted overprotective toward Daisy despite having no claim on her, and nor did I care for some of the choices he made regarding their own relationship. Of course, in Azzi style, when we go a little deeper and discover WHY a person is the way they are, it strikes a chord. Needless to say, by the end I felt a lot more strongly about the character.

I eagerly await Book 2, when we switch our attention to Finn's brother Aaron (already a sympathetic character enduring his own personal trials). Well done, Ms. Azzi!

I have enjoyed reading the stories of Daisy’s brothers, and getting to know Daisy. I was really impressed that she took the job in Scotland, especially with her best friend staying in the United States and marrying Daisy’s brother. What a great motto for Daisy to have—be fearless. It had to be scary flying to Scotland, living by herself, and starting a new job. The good thing was that it is her best friend’s family company, and Finn works there. I can understand Daisy being confused by Finn acting like he wants her one minute and telling her they can’t have a relationship the next. It’s funny how people can have something bad happen in a relationship and go on to another, while others feel like they can never have another relationship. Of course Finn, was in the later category! I loved catching up with Daisy’s brothers. I can’t wait to read Aron’s story next. I encourage you to read the book. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this book.

It's strange because unlike the last series, the guy in this wasn't my favorite character. Probably because I've loved Daisy since she first appeared in her brothers' stories and I wanted her to have someone who could love her fully.
But I got over Finn's hang ups quickly because he was unexpectedly sweet and oh so swoon worthy. I knew he'd turn into the guy Daisy could count on, the one she deserved. If he didn't, her brothers would kick his ass.
This is a heart-melting story with so much chemistry it leaps right off the page. Loved every bit of it!

The story overall was Good, characters Played well, were developed. Same goes for plat that is the least expected place took a turn and BAM! There was a completely new road to take.
I liked the story but from Ms. Azzi's book, I expected a lot more emotion loaded story that will make me feel it all over the place.

Daisy and Finn are couple goals!

I loved watching them come together and grow. Gina Azzi has created an incredible story with characters who feel real. With real issues and hang ups, and emotion.

One Last Chance is a definite must read of 2019.

I have read (and mostly liked) Azzi’s Boston hockey series but this book doesn’t even seem like it’s written by the same person. Gah! I was mostly bored. I started skimming in an effort to finish.

Daisy is a nice, well loved 23 year old American in love with 30 year old Scot, Finn. While Finn is solicitous to Daisy settling in well when she comes to work in Scotland, he spends the whole book giving her mixed messages. While I typically like a series, I had little interest in getting to know the characters in this series.

I really liked one book in the previous series so I was excited to give this a try. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to that book. Daisy feels like a completely different character to me. There’s also no plot really, outside of Daisy pining after Finn. The reasons why Finn thinks their relationship won’t work wasn’t concrete enough and is the same basic excuse as every romance book, a little more depth would’ve been more interesting.

I was so looking forward to Fin and Daisy’s story. I loved the Scotland aspect, it had a bit more relationship angst than I was expecting. The first in the series is still my favorite. I look forward to more stories from this author, but this story just didn’t have the same emotion I felt in the others.

So much could be cut out

This is the first book I have read by this author. It’s clearly part of a series and I would suggest reading the other books first as much is alluded to re prior relationships of supporting characters.

This book moved SO slow with no real substance to it. Both main characters were bland. I skipped ahead at many points.

If you like *ON again/OFF again/ lot of angst* kind of relationships you might enjoy this more than I did.
Maybe I just came across this book with a different mind of what it was about. I was looking for some funny romance with laughter and steamy scenes, but that's not the vibe on this one.

I came late to the Kane party, as this is my first book of the series but now that I've gotten to know these characters, I assure you it won't be my last.

Daisy Kane is the baby sister to some serious awesome men (who I instantly fell in love with despite never having read their own books). After graduating college, she's off on an adventure, moving to Scotland (color me all kinds of jealous) to start a new position. It just so happens that position is with the PR firm her best friend's family owns...and the place the man of her dreams works. Despite having rejected her advances last Christmas, Daisy can't help the visceral reaction she has to all things Finn Anderson, so in her Year of No Fear, she's giving him one last chance to get it right.

Finn Anderson goes way back with the Kane kids. He's known Daisy since she and his cousin used to stir up trouble as college freshman and he's adored her about that long. Sure he thinks she's beautiful and amazing and sweet but Finn doesn't do relationships, so he let her down easy, or at least he tried. When she moves across the country to work at his family's company, they maintain their easy friendship but what'll he do when he realizes he wants more for the first time in forever.

I loved this book, both the Kane family and the Anderson family consisted of fantastic characters, who were easy to love. I really loved Daisy's Year of No Fear and her spunky approach to life and Finn was the perfect challenge for her. One Last Chance had tons of heart and great chemistry! I'll be picking up they brother's books next!

Ahhh Finn and Daisy!!!

So glad to finally read their story, and see how their love story all worked out. Plus I loved getting to return to Georgia and witness the wedding. Catching up with Sierra and Denver was just what I needed.

Now I've read My Christmas Wish, and I was really confused by Finn's refusal to start something with Daisy. For a good portion of One Last Chance I was also quite confused. Especially since the attraction was there. Yes Finn had issues from the past clouding his judgement, but at the same time he wasn't even willing to try!

Loved that Daisy found a good group of friends when she moved to Scotland. That sense of community was just what she needed, and she had someone other than Sierra's family.

So aside from my issues with Finn regarding his commitment phobia, I really struggled with that one first year employee. That man was a walking red flag, and my heart broke when that all went down. TW/CW:

One thing I know from reading One Last Chance, as well as all the Kane Brothers books, I am absolutely loving this family!

I thought One last Chance was a good story it would be the first one that I've read by Gina Azzi and I want to read more by her in the future . You could really feel the spark between Finn and Daisy from the beginning they shared just a strong connection but the hero had a lot of hesitance towards the heroine even though he felt the same emotions he was burned in the past so he fought the attraction . Looking forward to reading more by the author I hope to see more of the characters in the future and what thy up to know .
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book

It's a romantic story, intense on second chance love.

Finn and Daisy have known each other for a while, she is the best friend of Sierra, Finn's cousin. At Christmas they exchanged a passionate kiss but then he pulled back, he doesn't want serious stories and Daisy doesn't deserve to be the one-night adventure. She moves to Edinburgh to work in the company where Finn works and seeing her every day will be hard for him to keep his dark intentions.

I love Daisy's family, her brothers are very protective and very affectionate with her, they adore and help each other, even from a distance they remain very present for each other. She is a strong, determined, independent woman, she courageously faces her move from Georgia to Scotland and endures with great patience that Finn makes his feelings clear. Finn was sometimes a little irritating, too undecided, he didn't want to make her suffer but kept her constantly uncertain.

A really enjoyable reading very well written, flowing and engaging told from both points of view.

Perfect for readers who enjoy romance!

***Arc was given by author for an honest review***

Dasiy and Finn have an amazing easy chemistry. She already knows him seeing as her best friend is her cousin and they already kinda made out until he put the brakes on and turned her down. Now she's moving across the ocean to his neck of the woods to start a new career and she will be working for the same company. The two try their hardest to keep it professional but with this many sparks that just ain't happenin. Finn tries to fight it seeing as she's younger, and he's already had his heart shredded before, but he'll find that Daisy is different.

Daisy was my first Kane seeing as this was a spin off from the Kane Brothers series. It can be read as a standalone because I was not lost one bit I just kept thinking her brothers should have their own books and low and behold...they do! Now I get to go back and read those because I loved Daisy and Fin's story so I'm sure I will love her brothers just as much.

I love the Kane family! Can I be an honorary member!? This book introduces us to a lot of new characters since it’s based in Edinburgh but we still get quite a bit of Jax, Carter, Denver, and their significant others. I was really looking forward to reading about Daisy, the little sister of the Kane boys. And Finn....*swoon*...we got a little of Finn in Denver and Sierra’s book but we really get to learn what makes Finn tick in this book. And the chemistry between Daisy and Finn is HOT! It just jumps out of the page! Again another great read by Gina Azzi who has quickly become a one click author for me! I can’t wait to read more about Anderson brothers in Edinburgh....looking forward to Aaron’s book!

Talk about some sizzling chemistry!!! The chemistry between Daisy and Finn was so electric! There was no way of holding back even though Finn wanted to. How can you, when the pull between two people is so strong?! I liked them together, and I loved Finn! I’m pretty sure if I opened my door to Finn saying... “Hey there, love” I’d be swooning too, just from his accent alone!! I really did enjoy their story, and I liked the supporting characters as well. My heart was breaking for Aaron and Olivia. I’m looking forward to reading Aaron’s story next. I’m really hoping he finds his H.E.A!!

3.5 ⭐✨. Sweet

My first read from this author. Overall quality of writing was good. Well rounded characters and storyline all set in Scotland. Daisy is American, her best friend was from Scotland and marrying Daisy's brother. Through her best friend, she's come to know her cousins Finn and Aaron and moving to Scotland to work in their company. You can feel the love amongst the family, the sorrows experienced all with no cheating or cliffhanger. A sweet story that ends on a happy note. Enjoy 🤓

Finn thinks the one bad relationship he had, that he can’t try again. Then Daisy starts working at the family company, he continues to fight what he feels, because he knows it can’t work.
Daisy wanted a new start and moved overseas, only with her best friend’s family there. Finn and Daisy have a history, where Finn rejected her. Now there working together she keeps getting different vibes on what he wants. Finn has said he can’t try a relationship again but Daisy maybe enough to make him change his mind.

Girl has thing for her best friends Scottish cousin. Ends up getting a job at his family marketing company in Scotland. He likes her too, but is down on relationships because of a past relationship gone bad. Had potential, but I was kind of bored with it. I like a little more angst, and little more stuff to happen. Sex scenes were more of the fade to black kind which is ok, but I was in the mood for something a little more steamy. The book wasn't bad, but it wont go on any lists that I will remember.

I loved this book and was introduced to it through the ‘My Christmas Wish’ short story. I was gripped and wanted to know what was in store for Daisy and Finn. From reading other reviews, this is a romance that’s been forming for a while so now I’m keen to go back and read the Kane Brothers series.

They go through a lot but there is never any doubt that they are meant to be - sometimes you just have to ride out the journey to reach the perfect destination!

A true love story

I loved the characters in this story, and the storyline kept me engrossed until the end! It is a story that I couldn't put down, as the romance and love was inevitable between these two main characters. They were definitely meant to be together, despite their history of past failed romances. It proves that every person deserves a second chance to find true love, and it's waiting out there, if you can just open your heart to it.

I'm so disappointed in this book. It had so much potential, and I did love Daisy. However,  the grammatical and continuation errors really ruined this for me. I didn't really like Finn 😕

Another big thing is that the MC is supposed to be Scottish along with his family, but it all read as American English with a few "yers" thrown in. It's a 4/10, and it's all on Daisy being a great character. The rest are forgettable.
