Different as Night and Day (Father/Son Duet Book 2) Kindle Edition

Different as Night and Day
I laid my husband to rest....
Scott was my world and my future. His love for me transcended the dimensions of time and space—having made provisions for me in the event of his death. He was after all in a war zone and the odds were high he may not come home. But now I can’t help but think about the new man in my life – my husband’s father.
Maguire creates a desire deep inside of me I never knew existed. This is more than lust. I keep on asking myself the same question. Have I fallen in love with him because he's so much like my late husband or because he's his own man? Only time will tell.
After all, you can't choose love, it chooses you.

I had resisted reading this story because I didn't think I would be able to get my head around the taboos (there's a few) of the story enough to enjoy, even though this is one of the reasons I really enjoy leigh lennon writing. Oh my god I was wrong... The way its written with each character trying to resist the pull and chemistry towards one and other was excellent as they themselves tried to overcome and negotiate their own negative emotions involved in the taboos of others and I have to admit I full on cried at one event in the story... Full sobbing cries thank god I was alone at the time. Thank you for once again for opening my already open eyes further to the concept that love is love no matter what form.

I enjoyed this story, definitely a taboo book but it was well written and I enjoyed the story line, I liked the sassy come backs and dirty jokes Holland always they made me laugh out loud. These books are also a tear jerker.

Great conclusion. A little frustrating in places but very enjoyable. I think the subject was well handled and it felt like a lovely love story to me

Oh wow. The deut complete and I loved this second book. An emotional rollercoaster but what a ride. Amazing and just loved reading this. No spoilers on this second book, but we see so much more with Holland & Maguire xx

I was disappointed the first book had no ending but it was sweet so read this one to find out the rest of the story. Honestly the back and forth between the main characters is painful to read at times. And there is entirely too much going on between character deaths fire kidnapping the indecision of the characters and the token rivals... I didn't think the book would ever end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maguire and Holland
Reviewed in the United States on 13 August 2019
I absolutely loved, loved this book. I didn't quite know what to expect but this surpassed everything. Leigh Lennon has woven an intricate story of forbidden love. It was such an emotional rollercoaster of feels. Holland had me cheering for her and then wanting to yell at her for everything she was doing and saying!! I had not yelked at my kindle so much at one person in a long time. I could totally see where she was coming from... The best scenes with Maguire and Holland and their bickering and reminiscing of Scott were the best. Hollands not cursing words made me laugh everytime!! And then the scenes with Elise giving Holland advice or a heart to heart just broke me... Absolutely beautiful..
Then when everything went down I was bawling through everything. Through it all Maguire never wavered for the one thing he wanted Holland, and it just made him that more amazing!!
And I want friends like Teagan and Jace, who without question were there for their friend.
Then finally twards the end I couldn't believe what was happening. My heart nearly stopped.. And the epilogue was perfect!! Loved it and it made my heart happy.

I must warn you… you’re going to need to read this with tissues close by. There will be tears. But there will also be love, there will be frustration, there will be some steam, and there will be some shock – but most of all there will be answers! Finally, you will be able to read what happens and what the future holds for these very much-loved characters Holland and Maguire. I loved reading this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Angsty & Emotional
Reviewed in the United States on 8 August 2019
This is book two in the Father/Son Duet. You need to read book one Like Father, Like Son before you begin reading this book. This book picks up where the cliffhanger of book one left off. This is a very angsty, emotional and slow-burning story. As someone that really enjoys the forbidden romance trope I was extremely eager to read this series and I enjoyed book one. As for book two, I thought that it was basically a good read. I felt that the story idea was interesting and complex. It is filled with a lot of tension, drama, angst and emotional turmoil. I wish I could have liked and enjoyed it as much as I desperately wanted to. However, this book had me hissy fit frustrated, torn between my heart aching for Maguire and the desire to tell him to "Smarten up and move on", hating Holland with a passion and in the end so emotionally worn out by it all that I was simply almost too tired to care how it all ended. I thought Maguire was a good hearted guy but a pushover. I felt for him and wanted him to be happy. He deserved someone that would love him and be completely comitted to him. I just didn't get that from Holland. What started out as her realistic and heart aching quandary, morphed into what I felt was game playing, manipulation and plain and simple shrewishness. Turns out Maguire has a type and he obviously never learned his lesson from his first go round with it. Holland's actions, thoughts and feelings, in my opinion, reached nerve grating, OTT levels and left me severely in doubt that this couple could ever maintain a successful long term relationship and that is why this ended up being only an OK read for me about a couple I could not believe in.

This is the second book in the Father/Don duet and you really need to read the first book to understand the dynamics of this family and the complete situation or you will be lost. Holland and Maguire wow they are wonderful together and everything I believe Scott wanted his father to have. Did he envision Scottland being in the mix? No, but then again maybe if you are like me and believe in help from the beyond .... This book had me from the start and I am so happy I was able to read both books as one long book. Tissues and lots of coffee in my case. Wonderful read.
