I couldn't wait to read the second book in the Chick Flick Club series, and I loved every single page.
Zoey and Cam are I guess frenemies. They are super competitive against one another, but underlying it all they are hugely attracted to each other. I loved reading what they did trying to one up the other in their "feud ". At times it was quite funny, and then at other times I was angry on behalf of Zoey for how she was being sabotaged.
Lila has written a great story, with outstanding minor characters that made me devour this book in one sitting.
Can't wait for Eve's story next!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.

3.5 stars. A sweet and sexy take on one of my all time favourite movies! I enjoyed the rivalry between Cam and Zoey, especially the chapters where they were trying to sabotage the other!! Overall, this was a sweet, low angst and drama free story that left me with warm fuzzies!

So we find ourselves meeting Zoey and Cam. Both chefs, both highly competitive. Now add a contest, a splash of rivalry and little pinch of sabotage and you have a recipe for disaster. Things are only further complicated when the two of them develop chemistry. Maybe it's all that pent up stress or perhaps it's the butter in the food. But either these two are going to be as delicious as syrupy waffles or as bad an overcooked bacon burger.

    So let the war begin...
*"He wants to take this nuclear? I'll show him nuclear."*

From enemies to friends to maybe something a little more. Can Zoey and Cam put aside their rivalry to give themselves a chance? But with the opportunity to kick their career into a higher gear, will winning cost them everything? The story can be predictable in places but it is a fun romantic comedy to pass the afternoon away. Kind of cheesy but there are some funny innuendos and cheeky friends to meet while reading this story. It was an enjoyable read to make you giggle and smile.

I love Lila Monroe’s romantic comedies, and I’m really enjoying the Chick Flick Club series. Clever titles playing on cult-classic romantic comedy films, these books follow a trio of best friends as they find love in the often disastrous, occasionally delicious San Francisco dating scene. These books are not simply the author’s spin on each story's similarly titled movie, either. They’re all originally and creatively plotted, enemies-to-lovers romances.

Both food truck chefs specializing in brunch, Cam and Zoey's relationship started out with more antagonism than attraction, though there definitely was that, too. In the cutthroat San Francisco food truck scene, there was an understanding among the different food truck owners not to horn in on each other's spots. Only Cam, new to the scene, didn’t get the memo, but even worse was once Zoey educated him about their agreement, he simply didn’t care about their rules. He was in this business to build his name and chase his dream, but in trampling over the understanding amongst his peers, he was poaching more than eggs on his truck when he regularly pulled up next to Zoey to fight for the same customers. Thus began a back-and-forth, war of the roses style turf battle of pranks, not punches.

Monroe throws an interesting twist into their relationship that kind of changes everything, and I absolutely loved it. It didn’t matter if these two were taunting each other or tearing each other’s clothes off, their chemistry sizzled like the bacon in their respective frying pans. They bridged the gap from enemies to friends to lovers naturally and were well on their way to building something real and lasting when a huge food competition that they both want to win draws near, and they learn that they're both finalists in the same category. But it's not the fact that they’re competing against each other that threatens to derail everything that is building between them.

Monroe served up an amusing, entertaining romance here with a fun, flirty and fresh plot. Laugh-out-loud funny and fanning myself sexy, You’ve Got Male by Lila Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!

There's a lot to like in Lila Monroe's You've Got Mail. It's based on a great movie story that's been made at least 3 times successfully. And it's got food. Lots of food. I like food. My cholesterol levels prove it. So it was a no-brainer to read the book and I wasn't disappointed.

Instead of dueling music store employees (the first 2 movies) or dueling book store owners (the most recent movie) we get dueling food truck owners in San Francisco. Both are talented chefs who can sling it with the best. Until they find themselves competing for the best locations in town. Then they'll do anything they can to succeed, including fall in love.

Lila Monroe uses the original movie stories well. But she doesn't completely follow the movie scripts, which is great. Her adaptation is fun, sweet and sexy, unlike the movies. The setting is great and as I said before, you can't go wrong with food in your story. I only wish she'd added some of Zoey and Cam's recipes to the book. I could use a good brunch.

Definitely add this one to your brunch menu. You won't be disappointed.

    Rating: 4 stars

A fun quick read but too predictable. The story doesn't hide its a compilation of bits and pieces with minor variations of the favorite romantic comedy movies we have all probably watched. Nothing to dislike...just nothing to get too excited about either.

5.0 out of 5 stars I laughed and laughed - so much fun

Another hysterical book by Lila Monroe! You’ve Got Male is the second book in the Chick Flick Club series (but can most definitely be read as a standalone), all loosely based on beloved chick flicks. The book follows Zoey, who owns a breakfast-based food truck and Cam, AKA the Breakfast Bandit, who owns a new food truck that starts encroaching on Zoey’s “territory.” They become rivals who are constantly trying one-up each other, sometimes sabotaging the other, in an effort to win the breakfast battle.

The book is so much fun. I found myself laughing constantly, and I could not put it down. My only complaint is that it was over too soon - I would’ve loved more time with them as a couple, but the rivalry is really the focus of the book and I had absolutely no complaints with that. Despite the feuding, both characters are extremely likeable and it’s obvious that they’d really rather be making love than war. Can’t wait for the next book in the series!
