All's fair in love, war, and breakfast waffles...

Zoey Rafferty dreams of becoming the food truck queen of San Francisco. She's building an empire whipping up delicious brunch treats - until the (annoyingly handsome) Breakfast Bandit starts stealing all her customers with his devious tactics and smoldering charm.

Cam Newsom never backs down from a fight. As far as he's concerned, let the best chef win. And so what if Zoey looks sexy as hell when she's all riled up? He wants a woman he can connect with - not have whipped cream spray fights in the middle of the street. A woman like his mysterious online pen-pal, who shares his culinary ambition, and burns up his screen with her flirty quips.

Soon, their competition is heating up the kitchen - and the bedroom. But when the famous foodie TV show Truck Stop rolls into town looking for a new reality star, all bets are off, as Zoey and Cam compete for the prize. But will their rivalry blow both their chances?

And what happens when they find it's not just their food on the line - but their hearts, too?

Find out in this sexy new twist on 'You've Got Mail', from USA Today bestselling author, Lila Monroe!

Zoey is working her butt off in her recently opened food truck. She dreams of one day having her own show on Food TV. The only way to get there is to put herself out there and become known for her mouth watering food creations. Her following seems to be growing and she has really gained some headway in the tight knit food truck community.

When a new comer to the food truck business begins breaking the food truck courtesy code, inching in on her territory, Zoey finds herself in a war of sorts. This guy may think he has what it takes to outshine her but this is Zoey’s dream he is messing with and she will do what it takes to make it come true.

When Zoey comes face to face with her new nemesis, she is beyond shocked. How could this handsome, dimpled, dream worthy man be the one who is making so much trouble for her. She wants to hate him but her hormones are doing all the thinking for her. When the competition heats up who will handle the heat and who will leave the kitchen?

This was another fun read in the Chick Flick series from Lila. I love that all of the books I’ve read from this author are light, funny and guaranteed to lift my mood.

A little friendly competition is good for the soul. But what these two cook up is more than just a cordial rivalry.

You’ve Got Male is book two in the Chick Flick Club Series, but can be read as a standalone. Lila Monroe never fails to deliver a sweet and spicy romantic comedy that leaves readers thirsty for more!

Zoey and Cam were just simply adorable!! Their unique enemies-to-lovers relationship gives you exactly what you hope for from the premise, but also conveys the deep connection of friendships and the intense desires that drives ambition.

As rivals, Zoey and Cam couldn’t be any more different from each other. Competing against one another in an already cutthroat culinary world doesn’t help their chances of rekindling the spark they had when they first met. And as seemingly harmless little pranks turn into brutal sabotage, misunderstandings hinder their already rocky relationship – proving the saying “It’s not personal. It’s business.”

If you love a good story that will make you gasp, swoon, cry, and crack-up with endless laughter, then definitely read You’ve Got Male. The fiery banter, the delectable romance, and the mouthwatering sexual tension will undoubtedly make you melt.

It's always a pleasure to read a Lila Monroe book,her writing can cheer me up even in the gloomier of days.

Zoey and Cam are the hottest thing on the food truck scene,their relationship grows through thick and thin because the competition is fierce but their connection,love for food and chemistry are even fiercer.

You've Got Male is a fabulous addition to this new series.It was so easy and effortless and enterteining to read and I recommnd it to all the fans of Chick Flicks movies.

Zoey and Cam were such a cute couple. Starting with meeting at halloween and never learning each others names, when they then become mysteries to each other. I liked the story but, to be honest it was just kind of mid. I did like the ending and everything but I feel like they were competing against and pranking each others businesses for a huge part of the book and then suddenly they were getting together but there wasn't any real buildup, along with the ending just being so sudden. Anyways, it was a cute and simple read!

4.5 SMOOCHES!

I love Lila Monroe’s romantic comedies, and I’m really enjoying the Chick Flick Club series. Clever titles playing on cult-classic romantic comedy films, these books follow a trio of best friends as they find love in the often disastrous, occasionally delicious San Francisco dating scene. These books are not simply the author’s spin on each story's similarly titled movie, either. They’re all originally and creatively plotted, enemies-to-lovers romances.

Both food truck chefs specializing in brunch, Cam and Zoey's relationship started out with more antagonism than attraction, though there definitely was that, too. In the cutthroat San Francisco food truck scene, there was an understanding among the different food truck owners not to horn in on each other's spots. Only Cam, new to the scene, didn’t get the memo, but even worse was once Zoey educated him about their agreement, he simply didn’t care about their rules. He was in this business to build his name and chase his dream, but in trampling over the understanding amongst his peers, he was poaching more than eggs on his truck when he regularly pulled up next to Zoey to fight for the same customers. Thus began a back-and-forth, war of the roses style turf battle of pranks, not punches.

Monroe throws an interesting twist into their relationship that kind of changes everything, and I absolutely loved it. It didn’t matter if these two were taunting each other or tearing each other’s clothes off, their chemistry sizzled like the bacon in their respective frying pans. They bridged the gap from enemies to friends to lovers naturally and were well on their way to building something real and lasting when a huge food competition that they both want to win draws near, and they learn that they're both finalists in the same category. But it's not the fact that they’re competing against each other that threatens to derail everything that is building between them.

Monroe served up an amusing, entertaining romance here with a fun, flirty and fresh plot. Laugh-out-loud funny and fanning myself sexy, You’ve Got Male by Lila Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!

I didn't like this as much as How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days .

Zoey and Cam had decent chemistry while they were sniping at each other but they hooked up and then imploded too quick, IMO. Plus, they imploded a couple of times and it half felt like the author was trying to end the book but got told to keep writing. I also felt like the ending explosion/conflict was resolved too easily since Cam just suddenly has a different food truck. Like, bold gesture sure, but he never really told Zoey everything. He did apologize when she went out but it just felt like they went from Zoey's heart being shattered to in love again too fast (even for a romance).

While I did like that Zoey and Cam were trying the relationship, it also came on too late in the book. The book was ~60% of the way through before the first time they hooked up. So not only had they been mainly sniping at each other, even after they realized they were their respective online besties, they kind of settled into like a truce, but it was still friendly. Even if both of them admitted to thinking about jumping the other, it was only during their respective POV chapters and always internal. They'd usually go to decent lengths to make sure the other didn't realize jumping was a possibility. Then they jumped into overdrive and have been hooking up for a week and Zoey's heart gets broken again. And really, their whole relationship just happened too fast and too late.

Nikki annoyed the fuck out of me. Honestly, I was glad she wasn't on page that much, because whenever she was, I wanted to slap her. She gives feminists a bad name and the fact that her characters was even needed was pointless. It would have been one thing if she turned around and was like working with AJ (although surprise villain would not have been cool either) or like she was some kind of network person working with FoodFest or the Truck Stop tv show thing, so she was over the top on purpose. But Zoey could have had an assistant who didn't say things like "you wouldn't have told a man to smile" when her manager asked her to take orders.

And the prank idea was decent but the thing with the salt and sugar shakers is a giant. Massive. Epic. UTTER FUCK UP! I don't care what you think you're competing for, you do not, under any circumstances, mess with food like that. Especially when it's going into the hands of strangers and you have no idea who's got allergies or health problems. Full-stop. I don't give a flying fuck if you think someone is a snob or you've got some stick up your ass about not following unspoken rules. You. Don't. SCREW WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S FOOD! That should have been the thing that got AJ fired and definitely something Zoey should have blown up for. Not something that had Cam going "oh well, may the best chef win" and Zoey slumping in defeat and going to bake more pastries. The sprinkles during FoodFest can kind of be excused because sprinkles are edible but there is a small the sugar component in those, even if it's technically negligible in most circumstances (although I will admit that if AJ had tossed sprinkles on everything that first time, it would have been annoying but no health hazard/potential lawsuit).

Zoey Rafferty has poured her heart and soul into making her brunch themed food truck a success. She loves everything about her business and is enjoying having a constantly  thriving work day... until the competition parks his rival food truck a little too close for comfort.

Cameron Donnelly makes no apologies about going after what he wants, full speed ahead. When the uptight competition approaches him about "rules" and "schedules", he makes it very clear that he doesn't have time to worry about hurt feelings when it comes to business.

Two brunch spots, one war that is about to get ugly... and the two rivals who can't seem to stop thinking about each other...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You've Got Male was an entertaining and super cute story set in the world of a major food truck competition. With a culinary style war that is waged between people who love to hate each other, the food isn't the only thing that ends up being served hot.
Zoey is a classically trained chef who has turned her love for exquisite food into an accessible commodity. Content with the growth of her business, when her comfortable success is threatened by a loud and brash competitor, she figures reasoning with him will help him see the light... boy, is she wrong.
Cam has spent his time in the cooking trenches and he is ready to make something of himself, on his own terms. So when his business is the slightest bit threatened, he overreacts instead of taking Zoey's ideas into consideration. But, by the time his rivalry with Zoey is in full force, he starts to second guess his declaration to fight fire with fire.
Zoey was such an amazing woman. I admired her attempts to be an adult about her issues with Cam. She was always straightforward and refrained from playing too dirty.  Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Cam. He was such an unlikable character throughout the entire book, that I just couldn't bring myself to feel any kind of warmth for him whatsoever.
I really enjoyed this storyline and the writing in this story. Fun and sexy, if the male lead had been a lot less of a clueless jerk, I definitely would have loved this book.
A fun, witty, easy-to-read and utterly delightful rom-com
Whilst You've Got Male is part of a linked series, it can very easily be read as a stand alone. This is Zoey's story, she of the A-list actor brother and owner of The Little Red Wagon. She may wish her love life mirrored one of the cheesy rom-com films she loves watching with her two BFF's, but otherwise Zoey is pretty satisfied with her life. After all, even if it does mean keeping antisocial hours, she is making a decent living with her brunch wagon. Until she encounters Cam the Brunch Bandit, a man determined to poach her customers and drive her into the ground. All's fair in love and cooking, but just why does he have to be so freakingly gorgeously hot?
The book is written first person, mainly from Zoey's POV, but with enough 'CAM chapters' to get a feel of the man and not hate him. I have to say I loved both Zoey and Cam. They weren't perfect, but who in life is? Even though this is fiction, I still much prefer my H and h's to be realistic and relatable. Cam had a bit of a chip on his shoulder and definitely jumped to unfair conclusions about Zoey, but we also got to see a very different and lovable side to him.
Currently I have a huge pile of arc books I have been wading through. It's a mountain that feels like it is teetering and just about to bury me for good. So much so that, of late, I haven't enjoyed the actual process of reading. However this book I read in one evening, I can't even remember the last time I did that out of want rather than necessity. I even had allotted 2 days to do this in. Like a lot of the rom-com films this mentions, the book was just so comfortable and easy. Not to be confused with bland or boring, which this most definitely wasn't.
The plot was interesting, it had a few twists and turns and plenty laughs along the way. The pace held my attention and the characters were worth investing my time, energy and emotions in. It was actually fairly slow burn, which I didn't notice until I was more than half way through it! That's how much I enjoyed it, how engaged it had me, because I do love a bit (or lot) of smut in my romance reads.
I really do recommend this book, it's well written, it's entertaining, it's fun and it's wonderful.
You've Got Male is Lila Monroe's latest installment in her Chick Flick Club series. It is a fun, adorable and quick read.
This rom-com novella features Zoey and Cam. Both are food truck owners in San Francisco. Both are highly competitive and driven, but only one has the decorum needed to allow everyone a win. Escalating shenanigans between the two chefs provide plenty of laughs.
The story is a nod to the 1990's movie, You've Got Mail. Unbeknownst to Zoey and Cam, the person they've connected to in an online forum is none other than their arch rival. Their respective online personas, WaffleGirl and BetterWithButter, have a fun and supportive relationship juxtapose to their escalating animosity in person.
The heat in the kitchen and the love story hits the top of the charts when these two both get picked to participate in a high-stakes restaurant cook-off. The drama and angst kick in as they realize who their dreamy online pal is in real life.
Can you have love and career success in the same industry? Ms. Monroe provides the answer in her non-stop fun romantic comedy, You've Got Male.
Zoey's got big culinary dreams. So she's not about to allow some guy to take them away from her. No matter that Cam is hotter than a chef has a right to be. No matter that she's finding he just may not be the evil prankster she's been thinking he is. Can these two rival chefs make the flame between them burn more than in just the kitchen?
I liked You've Got Male but I gotta admit it isn't exactly my style of rom-com. For one, it's a bit chick lit-ish, and while amusing, chick lit is not my type of romance. I prefer edgier, heavier romance. For two, I didn't totally, or really at all, connect with Zoey and Cam. I liked them, thought they were fun, but they and their story were a bit fluffy for my tastes. Still, for what it is, You've Got Male is an entertaining read. It's cute, sexy, fun and light-hearted enough for those that don't dig deep, emotional stuff like I do.
I just love Ms. Monroe's stories!
They are sweet and fluffy.  They are laugh out loud funny and smexy as all get out! The perfect combination!
You've Got Male is the second book of the Chick Flick Club, this is Zoe's story! I was so looking forward to this after reading a tease in the first book of this series.
Zoe and Cameron are competing food truck owners.  And in a lovely twist of the fabulous movie You've Got Mail....(Which I absolutely love!!)
Zoey is my spirit animal! She could be living in the lap of luxury with her brother being a movie star, but she wants and works hard for her independence.  She wants to make a name for herself in the world of food trucks.
Cameron is Zoey's biggest rival and makes no bones about it.  He too is fighting to make a name for himself.
From miscommunication and mistaken identities to funny but strategic pranks, this story is everything! Like a brunch waffle cone of goodness that Zoey wants to become famous for!
The secondary characters are, as always, amazing and bring more to the story!  You cannot go wrong with a Lila Monroe story! They are refreshing and light, just what you need sometimes!
This is my 4th Lila Monroe ARC and I feel honored and awesome to be one of the chosen few.
I know I said that Zach and Gemma's story was my favorite, but I'm quite torn right now... because they have some serious competition with Cam and Zoey...
This is the second book from The Chick Flick Club, and it tells that story about how Zoey and Cam went from brutal enemies to lovers and then back to brutal enemies...
I enjoyed their story... the pacing of how the characters developed feelings for each other is organic.... it was gradual and there was the gleeful anticipation of will they or not...
There was a particular part in the story that broke my heart... I can certainly relate to the betrayal... wherein you think you know the person but turns out you don't...
It's got comedy and drama... and it's something that would cheer you up after a hard day.
5 Star Review of You’ve Got Male (Chick Flick Club #2) by Lila Monroe
This is book two in the latest series from Lila Monroe and is Zoey Rafferty and Cam Newsom’s story.
Lila Monroe had me from chapter one in this fun, quirky and oh so entertaining read about two competitive chefs who not only heat up the kitchen but also the bedroom.
Zoey has worked hard to achieve her dreams but when Cam threatens her livelihood she is determined to best him.
Their fiery attraction smoulders and the chemistry between them is off the charts.
I never fail to smile when I read a Lila Monroe book. This is an excellent example of Romantic Comedy at it’s finest and I recommend you one click ASAP, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
You've got male was a fun loving entertaining all you can eat story.
I love the characters and their rivalry if you will!
I laughed, I was just as heartbroken but I genuinely thought Zoey had such a great support network, they really knew how to cheer a girl up.
When a rival food truck is taking away her business Zoey sets out for revenge of sorts. The rivalry is rather funny until things go wrong. Has Cam done the wrong thing or will he redeem himself.
The banter was funny, the friendships and budding relationship were wonderful
A real light hearted, down to earth read you can really kind of relate to. Well I think so.
A definite must read!
You've Got Male is the second novel in Lila Monroe's Chick Flick Club and is anthor funny, romantic and highly enjoyable rom-com perfect for those who like their romance light, entertaining and endlessly sweet.
Zoey Rafferty has big plans for her food truck, The Little Red Wagon. Classicly trained, Zoey hopes to one day become the breakfast queen of San Francisco with her delicious twists on everyones favourite breakfast treats. And everything is going to plan until a new food truck arrives on the scene and begins to steal all her customers. The Breakfast Bandit is the devilishly handsome thorn in Zoey's side and is determined to give her a run for her money. Cam Newsom has poured blood, sweat and tears into his food truck and he'll be damned if he's going to back down without a fight. So what if riling Zoey up has become his new favourite hobby? Or seeing her angry seems to get his blood pumping? The last thing he needs is to get sidetracked by a woman like Zoey, especially when he finds himself competing against her to be featured on the famous foodie TV show Truck Stop. Better to stick to his mysterious online pen pal who manages to steam up his screen with her quips. Yet as Zoey and Cam find themselves competing against each other, will their rivalery destroy the heat that simmers between them? Or will they find that not only is the food cooking, but love too?
I have to say I really did enjoy You've Got Male. I felt it was a fantastic follow up to the first novel How to Choose a Guy in 10 Days and once more captured me with its effortless writing and entertaining storyline. You've Got Male was a very easy story to get lost in; it was light, funny and sweetly romantic. Lila Monroe wrote the perfect balance of comedy, sexual tension and chemistry without going too overboard on the sex scenes or physicality of the main characters relationship.
You've Got Male was told through the dual perspective of both Zoey and Cam with hilarious results as the two characters stumbled through their endearing and adorable romance. Zoey was a solid rom-com female lead while Cam was charming and smart. I thought they were both easy to follow and easy to read about.
The two of them were highly entertaining to witness throughout the story with their banter and chemistry sizzling up the pages as they fought, and ultimately gave in, to the connection between them. Even though they were technically rivals, the food connection between them was a sweet touch and I enjoyed seeing two people who had something in common connect.
Perfect for fans of Penny Reid, You've Got Male was a quick but effective story and leaves me ready to round out the series with Eve's story Frisky Business as soon as it comes out.
Lila Monroe brings together the San Fransisco food truck community and the reality television craze in her latest story, You’ve Got Male, book 2 in her Chick Flick Club series. And in true Lila Monroe romantic comedy fashion, Zoey Rafferty and Cam Newsome know exactly how to get underneath each other’s skin as business adversaries but also how to heat one another up with flirtatious exchanges, sultry looks, and even some too close for comfort encounters that make readers question whether Zoey and Cam can keep their professional and personal lives separate when the rivalry gets even hotter and their exchanges lead to some interesting discoveries.
Zoey and Cam’s antics prove just how competitive the food truck industry is and illustrate why neither of them can play things safe…can allow another food truck to outdo them…can be afraid to do whatever it takes to get ahead and for all of these reasons, these two will either wind up going for broke alone or perhaps work together in order to remain doing what they love and being successful doing it.
Boy do Zoey and Cam push each other’s buttons, and while Cam seems to be more educated on the finer points of sabotage and nefarious acts, Zoey’s passion for cooking and her desire to succeed makes her a quick study, and soon, she’s giving as good as she gets but she’s also realizing that her growing feelings for Cam aren’t just ones of detestation or annoyance.
The idea that all is fair in love and war is fitting for what Zoey and Cam do to each other in You’ve Got Male, and it’s clear that this enemies-to-lovers’ storyline utilizes the main characters’ banter, chemistry, and passion for food to make a connection that’s a lot deeper than either of them knows, which means that as their relationship changes and grows, decisions need to be made before they’re both out of a job and a potential love interest.
I can’t help but smile and reminisce about some of my favorite romantic comedies when I enter Lila Monroe’s Chick Flick Club series; the way she puts her own spin on well-known movies and brings the swoon, the laughter, and the steam that these films are known for into her comedically crafted world allows readers to lose themselves in Monroe’s stories just like they do in the movies.
Lila Monroe is a new author to me, but boy she sure has it going on. I received an ARC for this book in return for my honest opinion, but I did not want to start in the middle of a series, so I totally bought the first book in the series to read--- let's just say I am hooked and You've Got Male is a great installment in the series!
This book has it all, humor, enemies to lovers sexual tension, an awesome plot, just the right tension, and great BFF's as secondary characters! One thing that I love about romance novels is putting yourself into others' shoes and seeing how they would react in certain situations. As a reader, we can either relate to that or be like "uh, no, I would totally not react like that". Let's just say I totally relate to the "I definitely would react like that" with the situations in this book. I know I am being super vague, but I am not giving you spoilers, you just have to read this amazing book yourself to get it. I will give you a little background on the characters though:
Joey is a fan-freaking-tastic chef that dreams of breaking it big. She is starting with a food truck that serves amazing brunch food (which as an avid brunch lover- I am behind this 10000%). She is loyal, caring, and someone I totally would be friends with! Everything is going great..... until Cam shows up as a rival brunch food truck.
DUN DUN DUN!!!!
Cam is sexy and knows his way around a kitchen *SWOON*. He is fine playing nice with Joey until she starts saying that he is not abiding by the unspoken rules of 'don't try to steal my customers'. He gets a bit miffed then and then the games are on.
As I said above, this is a great story. Please read it and I am SO looking forward to the next installment in this series. You definitely have a new fan Lila Monroe!
PS: I have checked out a few other series of the author, and I definitely recommend The Billionaire Bachelors Series!
PSS: I received this book for free as an ARC in return for my honest feedback.
