Born British and raised in South Africa, Sarah Hegger suffers from an incurable case of wanderlust. Her match? A hot Canadian engineer, whose marriage proposal she accepted six short weeks after they first met. Together they’ve made homes in seven different cities across three different continents (and back again once or twice). If only it made her multilingual, but the best she can manage is idiosyncratic English, fluent Afrikaans, conversant Russian, pigeon Portuguese, even worse Zulu and enough French to get herself into trouble.
Mimicking her globe trotting adventures, Sarah’s career path began as a gainfully employed actress, drifted into public relations, settled a moment in advertising, and eventually took root in the fertile soil of her first love, writing. She also moonlights as a wife and mother.
She currently lives in Draper, Utah, with her teenage daughters, two Golden Retrievers and aforementioned husband. Part footloose buccaneer, part quixotic observer of life, Sarah’s restless heart is most content when reading or writing books.
What I liked: 1) I liked how the h approached the H even when she was thinking she may reconnect with her ex. The ex never showed her any loyalty and got his ex pregnant while he only had a fight with the h, then chose to marry her because it was the right thing. The h also decided she didn’t owe him anything in lieu with celibacy or dating life.
2) the h came to her own conclusion that the ex isn’t worth it, not because she loved the H, but because she valued herself. She figured out without the H that the ex never did or will put her before others, yet very easily put her sister before her. Clearly she isn’t it for him. It’s time to let go.
3) despite the heavy OW drama we got, the H was more than sure he was done with his ex before anything happened between him and the h or even before he came home. He wasn’t unclear, he wasn’t on break, he broke up with her no matter what the reason. The h wasn’t a filler or rebound. It may have had an expiry date when they started, however unlike his relationship with the ex, he never thought “we both know the score”, he was rather flexible and adaptable to the changes in his relationship with the h. His frustration was that the h didn’t let him prove his devotion, not anything else.
What i didn’t like: mostly 50% of the book and contents. But what I REALLY disliked was hero’s hesitation over being stern with his ex. Which would have solved THAT particular issue within one chapter, and there wouldn’t be the unnecessary OW drama to begin with. And it WAS unnecessary because it added zero value to any development or character growth. This didn’t have ANY influence on the outcome of the story whatsoever. What did serve the purpose was one paragraph of hero spelling things out to the ex, which they could’ve done the moment she showed up.

This was the first book that I have read from Sarah Hegger and I really enjoyed it. It was an emotional story that will have you on a roller coaster of emotions. Both Kelly and Gabe have issues from their past that are going to hit them full force in the present and before they can get their future HEA, they are going to have to take care of them. The characters and story line was wonderful. You will feel each emotion as the characters are feeling them and you will be rooting for them to get their happy.

Book 3, Walk on by, by Sarah Hegger, is out and Gabe is delicious and Kelly is coffee shop owning heroine. I keep saying each couple is my favorite and I am going to say it again! Who doesn't love a woman who owns her own coffee shop and a man who loves animals? Even if his favorites are Great Whites. Get out there and get your copy today or start the series. If you want more of Sarah Hegger try her Ghost Falls series or her Willow Park series. Sarah's character just leaps off the page and wrap themselves around your heart. Warning her books will cause spontaneous laughter and crying in equal measure.
Ever sInce high school, Kelly Ashford has been pining after her the one that got away. She is determined to rekindle their relationship but an obstacle has arrived in the form of Gabe Crow. Gabe has come back home in Twin Elks, but says he’s not Going to stay. Now she is torn between the two men.
This is a small town romantic comedy set in Twin Elks. The characters are extremely well crafted with engaging personalities complete with strengths and weakness. They draw you into the story and make you want to see how it ends. The narrative switches between Kelly and Gabe’s point of view, allowing the reader to gather their background information, past emotional experiences, motivations and actions. The author takes us on an emotional rollercoaster as the two main characters grapple with their internal struggles and external obstacles. The storyline runs smoothly complete with romance, love triangle, humour, touching moments and real life struggles. I liked the complexity of the story with all the drama and surprises that life throws at you. I also like how the story dealt with some less slavery situations and how the townspeople had each other’s backs. If you enjoy excellently written contemporary, small town romances with great characters you will like this book. I suggest you start with book one in the series but it can also be read as a stand-alone.

A completely satisfying ending. And I don't mean the love story either. There may be trigger warnings needed. I would love to find a place like this to move to. As a note, I did find that in the beginning, when Gabe was at the bar, that everyone was surprised he was home. Wasn't most of the town at his brother Ben's wedding, when all the brothers were there?
I couldn’t love this story more. While it deals with delicate subjects, Sarah Hegger does a wonderful job maneuvering through the weeds of it. Thankfully it isn’t all wrapped up in a pretty bow either. Nitty gritty makes this story so great.
Loved this 3rd book from Sarah’s series, there’s everything you need from this story from drama to intrigue I couldn’t put it down she has a way of bringing you right into twin elks with her descriptive writing and you feel like your there with everyone can’t wait to get steered with the next one 💕
This book will probably trigger anyone who's been in an abusive relationship, the MC's sister is dealing with it. While the book is heartbreaking it's also hilarious, uplifting and makes you say "Heck yeah! Take that!"
A true small town romance, Walk On By features a full cast of characters that distract from the central couple. While this book is a standalone, if you haven’t read the other books in the series, you’ll likely have trouble keeping up with everyone. The story follows Gabe, a veterinarian who returns to his hometown while in between jobs. He runs into Kelly when he arrives back in town. They went to high school together, so when they strike up a conversation and end up having a one night stand, it seems natural for them to continue being friendly. Gabe is only in town for a short time and Kelly is hoping to get her high school sweetheart back, so anything more between them seems out of the question.
There were too many things about this story that rubbed me the wrong way for me to get invested in the couple. Kelly and Gabe sleep together and she is literally trying to get her ex back the next day - she even enlists Gabe’s help in doing so. There was just too much drama about other love interests, and that paired with the various other subplots took away from our couple’s relationship. This is in no way a short book, and there were plenty of times when I found myself bored by all of the extra characters and scenes. It’s not a bad book, but I certainly didn’t love it either. Fans of the series as a whole are likely to enjoy the book, but as a standalone novel it leaves something to be desired.

Whatever makes you happy - what we think we want is not always what we need...
This plot took me by surprise. I was sure the story will go into completely different direction. I have to say I just deep dive into the story not fully reading the blurb. It was very emotional journey, full of struggle from both hero and heroine side. Sometimes we are so fixed on what ifs that we do not give another chance to anyone or anything that just suddenly pops into our lives. Meddling parents and family in need, ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends, small town gossip and praying chain... Overwhelming grief and guilt. All that mixed up and what I read was one of the most interesting stories I have a pleasure read lately. It was so good to have a glimpse into the life of other two couples I had a chance to meet in the previous two parts of the series. It won't impact your reading experience if you start with this one but reading previous two parts will for sure give the more insight into the situation both main characters are presented in this book. I recommend this book if what you are looking for is heart-warming romance with a bumpy road to the happily ever after. There's not too much angst or drama, there are some heartbreaking moments and might be that some tears were shed but it was great reading experience for me.
Never know what will happen when you run into an old friend
I am in love with Gabe and ready to take on Kelly to have him!!! Well at least in my mind I am after reading Walk On By, the third book in the Passing Through series by Sarah Hegger.
Kelly is the local coffee shop owner who is so fantastic you just want to have her as your best girlfriend. She is single and ready to get herself a piece of Vince, her high school guy, or so it looked like in the previous book. Gabe is super sexy, smart and really fun. He has come home to Twin Elks from where he lives in Australia for his brother's wedding and a short visit, or so he believes. Little does he realize that the old thing called fate has other plans for him. Kelly and Gabe rekindle their friendship and it leads to things neither ever anticipated or were looking for. Sometimes you just need to roll with it in order to see where you end up, which is hopefully in the arms of the one you were meant to be with.
Sarah Hegger has once again woven an great story-line with wonderful characters and made a fantastic book that you can't put down. I would recommend the Passing Through series to anyone who loves comedic romances with a great big scoop of heart.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I've really gotten attached to the Passing Through Series, and Sarah Hegger's fantastic writing style which is very original & highly addictive. So, I'm not going to give a ton away, because the beauty of this author is discovering her stories when going in blind to be honest. Basically, Kelly believes the timing is right for her & her High School "love" or the one that got away if you will. Then there's Gabe, who believes that he's just coming home for a short visit, as he has some demons, and yet, since he just broke up with his girlfriend in Australia where he's been living the past 3 years, you know, coming home is probably what the doctor ordered. He & Kelly hook up one night, and now things are complicated because you already know it blew both of their minds. And when more secondaries show up in both of their lives to reek havoc, things only get more complicated with drama! There are twists that had me dropping f-bombs while the emotional chaos try to take over. So what ends up happening in this delightful small town story?! I really encourage everyone to one click to find out because it's completely worth it! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
This the 3rd book in the series has to be the best so far and the other 2 were really good. I didn't see this couple getting together at all!
Meet Kelly who's high school love is now divorced and has set her sights on re-kindling the flame with Vinnie.
But sometimes things don't work at exactly as you plan when tall good looking Gabe Crow returns home from Australia where he has lived for the past 3 years having broken up with his girlfriend. Gabe left Twin Elks feeling responsible for his fathers death and even when he comes home is convinced that it will only be for a short time.
Kelly and Gabe have know each other all their lives and after a one night stand the two start to get closer - however, when Kelly's younger sister returns home with her baby after being hit by her husband trouble isn't far away. Add in Gabes ex girlfriend from Australia who shows up things get even more complicated.
Will Kelly finally release that she can have a happy ending - will Gabe decided that small town living is for him or will Belinda Gabes Ex convening him to return to Australia with her?
Gabe is back home for the first time in years and is already counting down the days until he can leave again. While drowning his sorrows at the bar he runs into Kelly and let's just say they have an unforgettable night. The only problem is that Kelly finally has a chance with her highschool sweetheart and Gabe will not be sticking around. They decide on friendship but underneath it all is a sexual chemistry that can not be denied. Apart from this relationship sputtering to start there is also a whole lot going on in this book. At times it was almost to much to digest. Between sisters and abusive husbands, ex lovers reaking havoc, and severe indecisiveness this book had a lot to keep track of. The main characters were great though and when they gave into their chemistry it was absolutely amazing. I just wish it was a little less cluttered with background stuff.

Gabe found a passion for animal rescue as a child. As a young veterinarian, he fell in love with shark rescue and research. He had a relationship with a charming Australian whom he told he was not interested in marrying. Since her dad ran the project, his return for the wedding of his brother Ben to Poppy turned into an extended stay while he contemplated next steps.
Funny thing about Twin Elks - it seems to grow on people.
Kelly found herself in love with Poppy as a best friend. Now that Vince was single again, she thought they might start something- but so far? Nothing!
Maybe some shaking up is just what Gabe, Kelly and some unexpected additional friends and family need!
Touching romance and finding yourself read!

I enjoyed this book. This is a emotional story about the often big differences between what your mind and your heart will tell you that you want. I liked Kelly and Gabe. I thought that these two were very relatable but in different ways. Kelly's long clung to ideal of "The One That Got Away" came across as genuine and I think it will strike a chord with readers. It is something I feel we are all guilty of, whether we will admit it or not. Be it someone we actually know or that perfect fantasy someone we dream of being with. As for Gabe, the emotional baggage he carries effects everything in his life. Add drama, emotional turmoil and tension to unplanned attraction and undeniable desire and you have a very moving read. This is my forthright, freely posted review.
No matter where you roam, there’s nothing like being with family and friends. A place where you know you can rely on to always welcome you with open arms. Such is the small town where Gabe grew up and has returned, licking his wounds. Kelly has lived in this wonderful small town and rekindles her friendship with Gabe. But oh there’s a love triangle and other drama mixed in. Gabe and Kelly cannot seem to see the forest for all the trees. Plus it takes quite a while for these two to finally get on the same path.

Walk On By Sarah Hegger is book Three in the Passing Through Series. This is the story of Gabe Crowe and Kelly Ashford. I have read the previous books and the previous characters do appear in this book but you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Gabe just broke up with his girlfriend and has returned home for what he thinks is just a short visit. Kelly had a crush on someone else since she was younger and now he is free but for some reason she is drawn to Gabe. They have a quick hot encounter that ends up leading to them to get to know each other better but of course past and present issue come forward causing issues. Enjoy their story.
This is the third book in the Passing Through Series. This amazing Series is set in a small town named Twin Elks. Kelly and Gabe's story has it all: emotional, sexy, twisted, with a little suspense. Indie, Kelly's sister, is a strong and beautiful character. All the characters are great, and I loved to see again the characters from the other books. The Epilogue is intriguing! I love each book in this series, and now I'm looking forward to the next book in the Series, Luke's story. I highly recommend this Series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
This is book 3 in the series and so far my favorite ... this can be read as standalones but you get the whole community feel by reading them all. I was not expecting for Gabe to fall for Kelly or for her to actually still try to date Vince. This book has it all there's drama, love, and laughing. But yea I definitely did not see Gabe's ex showing up or for Vince and his kids to act like they liked India more. I was really surprised by how twisted India's ex was and how far he went in the end. This book was fun to read and the characters are so likable.
This is a well written book with strong characters in Kelly and Gabe. The author does a great job building the story after their one night stand. She brings an interesting story with her being interested in one man but still has Kelly and Gabe gravitating back to each other no matter how much they fight it. There's tons of emotions and fun times and a great cast of supporting characters. I enjoyed reading their story.

WHOA. WHOA. WHOA. Sarah blew my mind with this one! The rest of the series I was so freaking sure that Kelly’s guy was going to be Vince; and then BAM!! Gabe’s sexy ass walks into The Elk and shakes up her world! I absolutely loved the two of them together. Their chemistry was so strong, and their genuine friendship made the whole story just perfect! They were there to get each other’s stubborn heads straight, and supported each other when it got tough. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Twin Elks!!

Kelly broke her dry spell in Twin Elks with Gabe Crowe. Vince is now divorced, but she keeps hooking up with Gabe. They both date other people.
Gabe and his girlfriend are on the outs. She wanted to get married, he didn’t. But he’s just passing through his home town, waiting for the call to study great whites in Australia.
Will both Kelly and Gabe change their minds on what they thought they wanted?
Trouble with India and Piers.

The Passing Through series has quickly become a fun and entertaining series. They are fun to read, entertaining and enjoyable and have some laugh out loud moments. Walk on By is no exception and even though it's part of a series, can be read as a stand alone book. Characters from the previous books do appear in Walk on By. Since I don't want to give any spoilers I'll leave this as my description of the book. Highly recommend!

Kelly and Gabe had a one night stand and that is where it should end because Kelly is hoping for a second chance with her high school sweetheart who recently got divorced. And Gabe is just back home for a while looking for a new job. They tried keeping their attraction at bay but it kept getting in the way which makes for some funny situations, especially with Gabe's mom rooting for them to become more. I enjoyed the book immensely, it is very well written with good character development.

Gabe has returned to his home town as he's in between jobs and runs into Kelly his old high school sweetheart one night in a bar and they spend one hot night together and she hopes they can have more but things keep getting in the way. There are several things going on in this book that draws the story out a little too long but I enjoyed reading.

Ahhhh Gabe and Kelly!!! Sigh!! These two! Ok Kelly is one of my favs! She is spunky, funny, and take no bull from no one. If you have read the past books you know all about Kelly! She is AMAZING!!! Gabe is a sexy, smart, and super funny guy. World traveler and all that jazz. There is so major drama in this book. It just sucks you in and spits you back out. I am in total book hangover right now! Go read...now!!! Soooo good!! Sarah you did it again love!
I really enjoyed the third Passing Through story set in Twin Elks. Kelly believes that now is the right time for her to catch "the one who got away" back in high school. But is that really what she wants or just a fantasy? There are some complicated times ahead for Kelly, Vince, Gabe, and the rest in this great story.

Kelly pins after her high school sweetheart and Gabe is just passing through town. They didn't count on each other and the fact that they can't seem to be apart or keep their hands off each other. I liked the portrayal of Kelly and Gabe, they are likable characters, and so relatable.
