The core group of friends who found their happy endings are back, still loving hockey almost as much as their women. Now, four years later, the Eagles find themselves in the finals, with home ice advantage and on the cusp of winning the Stanley Cup once again.
It all started with a second chance, for Becca to just say yes to forever.
And is Kinley still living the dream after scoring the player?
What does life have in store for Madison and Richard, now that they decided playing for keeps is much more satisfying than friends with benefits.
When Mark vowed to Laura he would protect her heart, he meant it from the very beginning. He was all-in, forever, no matter what.
Reese and Austin’s chance meeting turned their worlds upside down in a single instant. Hot and heavy against the boards had their chemistry melting the ice.
Along with retirements, new positions, and additions to not only the team, but each of the families, come meet some new players who will lead us out of the First Intermission and into the second period.
Samantha Lind is a USA TODAY Bestselling contemporary romance author. Having spent the first 27 years of her life in Alaska, she now calls the mid-West home, where she lives with her husband and two sons. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading, watching hockey (Go Knights Go!), and listening to country music. You can connect with Samantha on her website, www.samanthalind.com.
The Indianapolis Eagles Series is one of my favorites and I always wondered what the future held for the fun couples. Samantha Lind has answered my question with her latest book “The First Intermission”, which takes place four years after the last installment. Time has passed, their lives are different but the love between the couples has grown stronger and their friendships are everlasting.
Becca and Scott are still very much in love and she needs to support him as he makes an important decision that will change their lives forever. Their son Michael is five, and is about to enter kindergarten. Of course he already plays hockey, loves to swim with his Dad and helps Becca around the house.
Kinley and Brian have a four year old daughter Hadley, who is the apple of her father’s eye. He is content with his girls but Kinley is still determined to do whatever she can to get pregnant. She feels discouraged but Brian is always there for her with a big hug and unconditional love.
It took a long time for Madison and Richard to get together and sometimes he regrets not telling her sooner how he felt. He is also making a big decision about his future and so is Madison, and they need to work as a team to prepare for a busy time in their lives.
Laura and Mark are such a romantic couple and he will always remember when she finally agreed to go on a date with him, because it was a dream come true. Her zest for life and beautiful smile make him always want to hold her close and keep her safe. Hockey brought them together but being a family is the best part of his life.
Reese and Austin definitely make beautiful music together and he knew when he met her that she was the one for him. Having two busy careers isn’t easy but they always make time to be together. Reese may need to rearrange her tour schedule and find room on her tour bus for a new addition.
We also meet the Goalie coach for the Eagles, Matt and his wife, Bridget. Their daughter Julia is a Physical Therapist who treats Beckett, the new goalie for the team. Sparks fly between the young couple and I can’t wait to see if dating the coach’s daughter is really a good idea. Their story “The Hardest Shot”, will be coming out this Fall.
I love books where we get to look back into the lives of characters we met and fell in love with in previous stories. Well in this book we get to reacquaint ourselves with several couples we met in the Eagles Hockey series. What’s fascinating it’s 4 years later and all these individuals have been living their lives and have extremely interesting developments. To me it’s like visiting with friends you haven’t seen in a few years but have continued to keep in touch with. Just because you haven’t seen them doesn’t mean you haven’t been thinking of them. You fall right back into them like you never left. One of my favorite aspects of this author’s work is that she writes very real not over the top situations. However, she keeps it so interesting. You want to know these people. She also brings all the feels into this story. You’ll laugh, tear up, heat up and wonder what is going to happen next. Don’t worry there’s some interesting situations yet to come because she’s dropped a few Easter egg in this story that begs the question, is there more to come? I think so. Another aspect I like is the title of the book. If this is the first intermission I’m hoping there will be a second and third! I really enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. I’m hoping that it won’t be long before we revisit with these friends again. I’d like to add that I’m anxiously waiting for the next book with the new additional players. Please don’t keep me waiting long.
I received a review copy of the book First Intermission before release for an honest review.
This was a very fun story for fan of this series. It is titled Book 6 in the series but its really 5.5 as it connects between book 5 and book 7 which will be out in the Fall of 2019. You must read books 1-5 or you will be so lost in this story. Even though I have read all the books at times I had to remind myself which story they came from. This story features all the characters 4 years after Reese and Austin's story ends and we catch up to all the couples with their trials, successes and where they are in relation to their family life and their jobs. It stars 7 couples, each from books 1-5 Becca and Scott Kinley and Brian Madison and Richard Laura and Mark Reese and Austin But it also adds some new characters Bridget and Matt, Matt is coach on the Eagles Hockey team and Bridget is his wife. They are an older couple who have been married since they were 20 and they have a daughter Julia who is 22 and a Physical therapist. Matt asks Julia to check over his new goalie, Beckett who is also 22 who has a minor injury and they are the 7th couple. Nothing much happens for B and J yet, but they are the featured couple in book 7. This was an awesome read. It reminded me why I love this series so much and I got to see how my favorite couples are doing. But it also got me very excited about book 7.
Oh how I loved this idea! A book solely dedicated to the past characters in the Indianapolis Eagles series!
I have loved every one of these characters and to see what the future holds for them is fantastic!
Ms. Lind has a talent to take the ordinary and make it extraordinary! When you read this you will see what I mean!
From kids and marriage, to love and friendship, you get it all in this!
Oh and let me not forget to tell you, you get heat, you get smexy times and come on, hot hockey players with their kiddos? Talk about ovaries exploding!
Ms. Lind has a talent of writing realism that makes the reader really become part of the story, I felt like I was right there with the whole crew. I want to be a part of this world for real!
As Ms. Lind has said repeatedly, you have to read the other books in this series to read this and trust me you will want to!
Well done Ms. Lind! I cannot wait to read more from this series!!
Title: The First Intermission Author: Samantha Lind Format: Ebook Genre: Romance-sports (hockey) Standalone: Not really Part of a Series: book 6 of the Indianapolis Eagles series POV: multiple Steam Level: quite toasty at times 5/5
The First Intermission takes place four years after Austin and Reese's book Against the Board. It's basically an extended epilogue for all the couples we've already met and fell in love with in the earlier books. The First Intermission allows us to catch up with the couples from from the first five boos and also sets up the next book - introducing new players as others retire and move on.
Reading a Samantha Lind's book is refreshing. Her writing style is unique and I love the lack of drama for the sake of drama. I look forward to reading more of this series with the new guys and seeing some of the old ones in their new roles.
I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
The First Intermission is book six in the Indianapolis Eagles series and while the series books can be read as a standalone (if this is what you chose to do), this book cannot and should be read after you read the series. It’s like we won the Stanley Cup this time! Haha. In this book we get to see all our favorite characters with a “Where are they now?” and “Where are they heading from a team aspect?” I loved how the author made it into one story with all characters. You will fall in love with them all over again and are excited with the many leads that are occurring in each family or should I say “BIG” growing families. It makes your heart happy and I hope that the First Intermission characters continue to live on in the second period. Let’s see if the Fall season will lead up a home ice advantage and score us another shot at the Cup!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, updates, and sweet love.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading them first: Just Say Yes (Indianapolis Eagles Series #1) Scoring the Player (Indianapolis Eagles #2) Playing for Keeps (Indianapolis Eagles) Protecting Her Heart (Indianapolis Eagles #4) Against the Boards (Indianapolis Eagles, #5)
This is a little about all the couples. You get updates on them all. What they have been up to since their stories and all the new developments. Some updates are funny others are sweet. You also get a chance to meet a few new people that will take us into the next series. Plenty of news to keep you turning the pages. Also the glimpses of the new players will have you wanting the new series right away.
I felt I could connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
The First Intermission features couples and characters from the first five books in Samantha Lind's Indianapolis eagle series.
As with her previous books this is told in first person POV, and in this case the narrator changes from chapter the chapter. This was a little confusing when the narrator became someone who did not appear at all in the series before or was not one of the couples in previous books.
I think I would have liked it better if each couple had a short story instead of alternating chapters back and forth amongst all of them and the new characters. It would have made for cohesive story telling. Additionally, there was some information that was repetitive because the narrator changed so often it was mentioned again and again.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
The First Intermission by Samantha Lind is a fantastic book! This is the 6th book in her popular Indianapolis Eagles series. I am enjoying reading this series so much! I am also learning about hockey and I am not a person that loves sports. Make sure that you read the first five books in the series before you read The First Intermission. The First Intermission by Samantha Lind, she gives us an update on all of the characters from the previous books. It was fantastic reading about what has been going in the lives of Matt and Bridget, Becca and Scott, Reese and Austin, Madison and Richard, Kinley and Brian. In The First Intermission, we are also introduced to Julia and Beckett. Make sure you grab a copy of The First Intermission by Samantha Lind! You won't be disappointed! I couldn't put my kindle down while reading the series! I can't wait to read the next book in the series!
"I turn toward the voice that has haunted my dreams since I first heard it all those weeks ago. The one I've dreamed of many nights. The one girl I can never touch because of who she is."
Wow! This book is packed with love, new changes, choices, new additions, heartbreak and struggle, and of course some steamy sheet time!!
In this book, we get updates on all of our beloved couples, even some from other books that have ties to our couples, and we get a glimpse of a new hockey hottie that you'll be eager to know more about - let me tell you, that's going to be one epic story!
Each of the books in this series focuses on one couple. They can be read a stand-alone books, but this one is different. You have to read the others before reading The First Intermission. If you haven't read books 1-5, you really should dive in right now!! You won't be sorry!! Then grab this one and find out where our loving couples are now, where they're heading, and what's on the horizons!!
Great addition to the series!! Now, bring me Beckett!!
I have been a fan of Samantha Lind’s Indianapolis Eagles series from the start, so I LOVED the idea of a catch-all book that shows the couple’s five years later. Who is having babies? Who is expanding their family? Who is retiring? This was a great look at these characters years down the road.
We also got to meet a few new couples, like the Eagles’ goalie coach and his wife, and their daughter, who is a physical therapist. Sparks fly between Julia and new Eagles player Beckett when she does her dad a favor and works the new guy into her schedule. They will be the couple features in SL’s new spin-off series. Is dating the coach’s daughter ever a good idea?
I received an advanced copy and voluntarily left a review.
Fans of the Indianapolis Eagles will absolutely love this book! While the rest of the series can be read as standalones, this should be read after books 1-5 are complete as it contains spoilers and will be best appreciated by fans who have already fallen in love with these characters.
I'm a greedy reader. It's part of why I love a great series so much. I want to know everything about the characters I fall in love with, and I love glimpses of their happily-ever-afters. This book did a great job of providing just that. We get to see what is happening with each of our favorite couples, and it gives a great transition for what is to come next for the team. This one book carries a ton of feels as we catch up with each couple!
This story takes place four years after Against the Boards and we get to reconnect with all the characters we know and love from the Indianapolis Eagles. These four years have brought a lot of changes but the relationships between the characters are stronger than ever whether it is the friendships with the other couples or the deep love that the couples share with each other.
Not only do we get an update on the existing characters, but we are also introduced to Julia, a physical therapist, and Beckett the new goalie for the team. There is no denying the chemistry between them but her father is his coach with their full story yet to come. Let the fun begin!
This is a heartwarming story about love and family with no shortage of heat and emotion.
If you've fallen in love with characters through this series then you are going so appreciate this book so much. This unique because this takes place four years after book five and gives us updates on all the couples. Some are retiring to start the next chapter in life, some are just starting families, and others are adding to their families. Plus we get a set up of the next couple getting their book. I gobbled this up real quick. I'm a reader that loves epilogues so for me this was a buffet of epilogues turned into a book. I love seeing how the characters are enjoying their HEAs. If you've read this series I highly recommend reading this one! Trust me you will be so happy that you do because I can honestly say my heart felt full and happy.

Who doesn’t love going back to reread their favorite couples? Now imagine doing that, but it’s all new that’s what you get with The First Intermission. This was such a joy filled read for me. Samatha Lind’s books are some of my go to favorites when I need feel good sweetness and having an entire book of that while visiting characters I’ve already loved for a while had me sitting here smiling nonstop. Old favorites aren’t all that are in this one, there’s new love you can feel building right along with all the changes that occur for everyone. I can’t wait to see what Samantha has coming for us next!
The First Intermission catches us up on all of our favorite couples from the Eagles series! Samantha Lind knows how to write fun, real life characters with the sweetest couples! It was so great going back into thier world and finding out what they have been up to. This book is set 4 years after Reese and Austin's book and told from several POV. My only complaint is that some characters got to say more than others and some couples were in the spot light more than others. This book also helped set up the next generation of Eagles! If you have not read this series do no read this book!! You definitely need to read all of the previous books!
This is Book #6 in the Indianapolis Eagles series. I have read the first 5 books in the series prior to this one. I love coming back to this series and reading about a new couple and the rest of the team. I love how we got to read about the players and their wives and finding out where they are now.
Can't wait to read about the next book about Beckett and Julia.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Recommend this book? Yes! Author? Yes! Read more from this author? Yes!
This series just keeps getting better and better ... Mrs. Lind has a gift and she does not disappoint. So we get to go back and see where all the olf players are in life and I gotta say it didn't disappoint. Its like having a big ole family reunion after years of quiet. As we are meeting Bridget and Matt who have been married forever and there daughter who is a physical therapist. You can see the sparks fly between Bridget and Matt but there book is actually book 7. You get too see so much it doesn't disappoint.
This is it. The end of my series binge in anticipation of book 7 coming in just a couple weeks!
This was fan-tas-tic!!
I loved everything about this book. It’s an extended epilogue of sorts to our couples and it was just great fun! Even the couples I was not previously wow’d with added outstanding pleasure to this read! If you’re a fan of this series, this book is a must!!
It goes without saying that if you haven’t read any of this series, your enjoyment of this book is probable not going to hit the mark. *shrug*
I love it when we get to see how our favorite characters in the future. We get all our Indianapolis Eagles again, seeing how theyve grown and manage to handle it all. Becca and Scott and their five year old son and the big decisions they have to make. Kinley and Brian still being adorable aling with their daughter but trying for a boy. This book just keeps going. I love this so much so mant grwat characters comi g together to let ys see how thier lives are now.
This is the 6th book in this awesome series, and is a catch up of all of the couples in the previous novels. This progression is 4 years later and the couples love has all grown stronger; there are babies, everlasting friendships, heartbreak and retirements. This is a beautifully written tale which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot recommend this gifted authors’ work highly enough for all sports romance stories! Bravo Samantha!!
What an awesome book! I loved getting a "where they are now" look into the characters' lives from the previous Eagles books. It's amazing to see where they are all at now. And BABIES every where. Samantha Lind does a great job of intermingling all the stories and even starts the build up for one to come!
EEP! Officially my favorite book in this series! You HAVE to read the rest of the series before reading this one or it won't make much sense. I LOVED that we were able to see how all of our favorite couples from the first five books were doing! Just perfect for me! Also, I am so excited for our newest Eagles couple - I CANNOT WAIT!!
It was so much fun to catch up with the whole gang (a few new ones too) and see how they are doing. This is an amazing series with the most amazing characters!! I loved every single book in this series and read each book from start to finish in one setting. I hope this series never ends. If you haven't read any of these books, what are you waiting for??
Such a great read! This book we get to bring a wonderful series to a close, but this author sure knows how to keep us wanting more. I loved reading more about each of the characters, the close family they have become & all the amazing well written characters this fantastic series introduced us to. The glimpse into the future was not what I was expecting! I didn’t want this all to come to an end. I highly recommend this book & series. Told in multiple POV.
A nice follow up story to multiple books in this series. A good chance to check in with your favorite couples and see how people are doing. There was also an intriguing intro to a new possible couple. This did feel more like an extended epilogue than a story, but either way, this is a great addition to the series.
I just loved catching up with everyone and see how their lives have progressed. Lots of babies and loving couples. Loved how Samantha incorporated the tiniest of children to show their fathers connection to each of them. Plus, now we have a potential new couple to get know. Another great story from Samantha Lind and I can't wait for our next story!!
