A new, sexy standalone from top 100 Amazon Bestseller, R.C. Stephens.
She was my best friend’s little sister—forbidden. Jolie Campbell was my solace in a dark life. Jolie was my first love, my first kiss. She was a soothing balm, loving me, keeping me from sinking in a ship of life that experienced daily storms. I promised her forever but I should’ve known better.
I made mistakes and ruined everything. Jolie is my favorite memory and my biggest regret. My need for her hasn’t faded even after all these years. She loved me for who I am. There was never a choice about moving on. I’ll always be alone. It’s what I deserve after leaving her the way I did.
Until fate hands me a second chance. A funeral brings me home to a place I swore I would never return. My memories and mistakes come crashing down on me before the plane even lands. I want to keep my distance from Jolie but my old feelings return like a tidal wave sucking me under while breathing life back into me. I tell myself to keep my distance from her. That no good could come of us, but she’s too hard to resist and I want my second chance with the only girl I ever loved. Too bad fate has other plans. . .
THE TRUTH ABOUT IS, is a second chance contemporary romance with a swoonworthy hero and a strong heroine . Enjoy Griffin and Jolie's road to an HEA.
The cover is done and so perfect. I'm seriously swooning. Like I can't stop looking at the guy. He is so dang hot!!!
Edits are almost done and my editor is over the moon with the story. Eeep!
I also have a release date of August 7th. Stay tuned!
Edits are all done and The Truth About Us is with the proofreader. My editor is completely in love with this story. I can't wait for you all to read it!!! The countdown begins
I was disappointed in the writing -- it felt stilted and at times a whole lot immature. There is an overload of angst -- some of which could have been left out altogether. Too much telling and not enough of the feels. I never really connected with either main character. The potential was there for something much better. There's a nice Epilogue that gives the book a big boost -- and everything wraps up into a satisfactory HEA.
A great story from R.C. Stephens that completely enthralled me from the very beginning.
During their younger years Griff and Jolie were in love but he was older than her and also her brothers best friend, causing them to keep their relationship a secret. When Griff leaves Jolie after they sleep together for the first time she's left heartbroken. Now ten years later a family emergency forces them back together will this be a second chance for them or is there just too much standing in their way?
A fab read that will tug at your heartstrings but comes highly recommended by me.
A romantic and dramatic read featuring two of my favourite tropes – second-chance and brother’s-best-friend – this book is a twisty rollercoaster ride as two teenage sweethearts navigate their way back to each other after years apart.
Jolie and Griffin met as teenagers when he befriended her big brother, Logan. Griff had a difficult home life and practically lived with Jolie’s family, and their feelings for each other grew from childhood friends to first, all-consuming love. They kept it a secret from her family while giving each other everything and planning for a future together, until one day, Griff just left, shattering both of their hearts in the process.
It’s ten years later, and Jolie and Griff have both been called home after a family tragedy. It’s the first time they’ve seen or communicated with each other since they parted and they know it’s going to be awkward as all hell. They’ve both lived full lives and have been through a lot, and they aren’t the same people they once were, but their feelings for each other are still very much there, and though Jolie tries to keep her distance, Griff is determined to get his second chance with the girl he has never been able to move on from.
“You’re mine. I’ll always come back to you.”
It’s an emotional journey for the two of them as they find their footing with each other again, slowly start to talk about their pasts and what they’ve been through, and finally address the big secret that tore them apart all those years ago. And though neither of them deny their feelings for each other, they have a lot of hurdles to overcome as they do all of that, and they know that any possibility of a future together is not going to be easy.
Their reconnection unfolds alongside Jolie’s family drama, which ties into the main storyline really well and adds some additional depth to the story. There are more secrets and reveals, and some pretty big twists (some expected, some unexpected) which keep things interesting, and I enjoyed watching it all unfold.
It did take me a little bit of time to become fully invested in the romance. We’re thrown right into it and initially it felt like the story was told to me rather than me experiencing it, and because of that I didn’t connect with the characters or their romance as much as I would have liked. It took me a while to feel their chemistry and really feel for them, but I eventually got there, and I thought their romance played out beautifully – with honesty, playfulness, passion, and a lot of heart.
There’s a gorgeous epilogue which gives us a great glimpse into the future and finishes everything off really nicely, and with a storyline hinted at for big brother, Logan, we will be revisiting this group of characters with a book for him in the near future.
Not as many feels as I would have liked, but still a good read. 3 stars.

Jolie: Griffin Campbell was the typical bad boy. My father warned me not to get too close. But he's handsome as hell with eyes the color of the ocean, and he's fiercely loyal and loves unconcditionally. I couldn't stay away when he was the only boy to ever claim my heart. I gave him all my first...and he left me behind. Ten years later, he has returned home offering answers as to why he left because he wants me bac - only I'm not the broken hearted teenager he once fell for. His pretty eyes and killer muscles aren't enough to mend the hurt that rages inside me. Griffin: Jolie Bryant was my best friend's little sister. She's sexy as hell, sweet as sin, and very forbidden - my favorite memeory and my biggest regret. I should stay away. I'm harboring secrets that will shatter her world. The thing about secrets is that they always find a way to come out. I just hope that when mine do, she won't turn away from me... I want my second chance with the only girl I've ever loved, but it seems that fate has other plans.
Second chance romances are one of my favorite kinds. and The Truth About Us is a really good one. This too is a story with a lot of twists and turns. This is the story that makes you think would you chose the same love you chose at twenty that you would chose at thirty? This story starts when Griff and JoJo are teenager and right smack do in the middle of a massive crush on each other with stolen kisses and moments together including JoJo giving Griff her virginity and the promise of a future together. However Giff suddenly vanishes from her life completely leaving her devestated and heartbroken. Now ten years later she has moved on even married and now is returning home becasue of her stepfather sudden death. She doens't go home often as the memeories are way to painful but now she has to put on her big girl panties and go. She never in her wildest dream though would think she would see the man who nearly broke her in the same airport as her. Griff though sees a second chance. One that he has been wanting for a while and he is not giving up until JoJo is his again. Can these to pick up right where they left off? Are they destined to be what they should have been to begin with? You have to read and find out. I love this book and the characters. It is a must read. Especially if you love second chance romances as much as I do.
I LOVED THIS BOOK! This was an amazing second chance romance/ Brother’s best friend romance and I’m so glad I got the chance to read it. Griffin was an absolute amazing character. I loved his heart and his push to get the love of his life back. Jolie or Jojo had such a beautiful soul, she cared so much for her family and even for Griffin. Jolie and Griffin had amazing chemistry and it was so great to see that they still had that spark many years later, especially without seeing each other. Watching them basically fall back in love together was so much fun to read. This story had so much emotion when it comes to family drama, relationships. I highly recommend this story to anyone who is looking for a great romance to read with a little emotion and a second chance at your first love!
*Thank you RC Stephens and Wildfire Marketing for this opportunity!*
I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I am rating this book 4.5 stars. Ok so absolutely loved these two story but I have admit Griff pissed my off with one of his last decisions. I personally think that if you truly love someone and you want to be with them forever you put them first above everything else. I know how Griff grew up but still I'm sticking to what I just said.
“You were always my favorite memory and my biggest regret.”
Jolie and Griff loved each other. Dating in secret, the two were friends, confidants and shared many things over the years. About to turn eighteen, Jolie gives herself to her boyfriend, in a passionate and special moment. And that was the last time she saw him. Griff disappeared from her life without saying goodbye. Ten years later, Jolie lives in New York, is a widow and is trying to find her way. When she receives a call from her mother informing her stepfather death, she finds herself torn between supporting her mother in a delicate situation and returning home from where she left without looking back or continuing to run away as she always did. The truth is that her old home holds many memories she prefers to forget. But among all the situations that had happened in her life, being face to face with Griff after so many years, on a chance meeting, was definitely not something she expected. Much less deal with the news that he is also coming home. Griff is nothing like the neglected boy of the past. If his childhood was miserable, lonely and traumatic, his adult version is successful. Being a big shot in Hollywood, he has fame, money and lives his life intensely. Years of therapy made him move on. But Jolie is still his only unfinished business. And the love of his life. Jolie never forget or forgive Griff. And her life with her late husband has too many secrets for her to deal with. Returning to where it all began and having to face the past, as well as new revelations, will make her wonder if she really has the strength to continue, or if abandoning everything and leaving is the best way out. With the whole family together under the same roof, the story begins to focus on that hitherto perfect family, but which over the years has grown apart, and whose dramas and problems go deeper than imagined. When the main couple seemed to be getting along, new revelations disrupted their lives again, with a secret from Jolie's sister further shaken this nonexistent relationship between sisters, and someone from Griff's past throwing unexpected news. Filled with drama and conflict, the book shies away from traditional novels by exploring the dynamics of this family, and showing how the unforgivable attitudes of the patriarch in the past changed the course of all involved. A real, deep narrative with emotionally charged characters whose title fits the work perfectly. The truth is the great character of the work, and everyone has to face it. As hard as it is.

Growing up Jolie was Griff’s best friend’s little sister so she was supposed to be off limits but the heart can’t help who it wants. These two fell in love between secret rendezvous and years spent getting to know each other. Even though they were teens, they had to keep their love hidden because Jolie’s brother and her judgmental and horrible Dad thought less of Griff. These two thought they’d be together forever but after one special night Griff was gone. He vanished from Jolie’s life without even saying goodbye and she was left heartbroken.
“He’s vanished from my life and I don’t understand why.”
Ten years later Jolie returns home and she’s definitely not the same girl Griffin left behind without an explanation. They say you never forget your first love and as much as he tried to move on, Griff can’t let go of Jolie. They are thrown together this time because of a family tragedy and Griff sees this as his chance to be with the only girl he has ever loved. He wants her back but she is still holding onto the pain of being abandoned ten years ago. Seeing each other brings up so many feeling she thought were buried and long forgotten. When Griff reveals the truth of why he left, will she be able to forgive him and give their love a second chance or are some things unforgivable?
“What happened to you Griffin Campbell? What made you run?”
I love a good second chance romance and this one had the whole I fell in love with my best friend’s sister too so I was definitely looking forward to reading it. It was a slow burn lead up for sure and it took me a while to get through some parts because honestly there was just a lot going on. I was having a little bit of a hard time connecting to the characters. There was a good amount of drama, angst and some twists I didn’t see coming thrown in there and it was a good read overall. I just think for me it would have been a better read had I had an easier time feeling the connection between Jolie and Griff. I do think a lot of people will love this book and I look forward to seeing more from this new to me author.
“It’s been a decade since I’ve seen her and still my heart beats for this woman. Why did I stay away so long?”
A second chance, new adult, little sister/brother-best friend love story. This is one love story with so many twists and turns showing that love isn't a straight line. Can you really say you'd make the same choices again at twenty that you'd make at thirty? People change regardless of whom they are with or maybe because of whom they are with. The Truth Of Us is an amazing book that delves into the choices we make, the family we have, and the family we surround ourselves with by choice.
R. C. Stephens opens the story with two teens, Griff and JoJo, in the midst of a mad, passionate crush teetering upon love. After a year and a half of dancing around each other with stolen kisses and touches JoJo gives Griff her heart and her virginity and then they promise each other a future together, right after Griff vanishes from her life completely ghosting her.
Ten years go by and JoJo has moved on, eventually marrying (although also losing her spouse too) when her mother calls to announce that her step-father has died and should return home. JoJo hasn't returned home in years, the memories have been too painful, but since Griff hasn't shown his face even once in a decade she doesn't give him another thought that is until she sees him at the same airport.
A lot of time has past and Griff has burned a lot of bridges with JoJo, but the moment he sees her across the airport every reason he had for staying away vanishes from his brain. He believes in destiny and wants another chance with her. He wants everything and he won't give up until she is in his arms again. He first needs to explain what happened ten years ago, but then convince her that there is a reason why they have this second chance.
JoJo has a lot of baggage and half of it is Griff's to carry, the rest is her dead spouses. She never planned to fall in love again, but the problem is she never fell out of love with Griff. Will things be different this time? There are so many roadblocks, so much standing between the two of them can they really pick up where they left off?
Griffin and Jolie have history, the kind that stings every time it wanders into their mind, or the other's name is mentioned in conversation. Growing up Jolie always had a thing for her brother's best friend Griffin, but being that he was older, and well off limits, she tried her best to keep her crush under-wraps. That is until her senior year of high school, by then the crush had festered into a full blown addiction, and she knew what they had was something worth holding onto, so she made her move... and the outcome was epic. That is until he walked away after without so much as a goodbye...
Ten years have passed, and she has only kept tabs on him through her brother and the occasional update from her mother, but when a death in the family brings them both home things are destined to get a little tense... and maybe even a little hot too!
The Truth About Us is an emotionally rich tale that'll have your emotions in shambles, and your feeling like it is in a vise. Nothing hurts quite the loss of real and true love, and Griffin and Jolie will prove that to you page after page, these two reeked havoc on my heart! Once they let go of the hurt and anger from the past, and started to fall for each other all over again my heart began to soar and my feelings began to reach a happier place. I loved watching the progression of their relationship, them start to work through the hurt, learn to forgive on another, and embrace all the sparks they had bouncing around between them... it was a beautiful thing to witness. If you are in the mood for a toe-curling and highly emotional literary escape look no further, because The Truth About Us has everything you crave... and more! Highly recommend!!

The Truth About Us by R.C. Stephens “brother’s best friend/second chance romance, 4 stars”
Jolie and Griffin have history. They used to be as close as could be. Then that closeness turned into a romance that they thought would last a life time. But life got in the way and they separated. Now years later they find themselves in each other’s presence for the first time in a long time. One thing is for sure, those pesky little feelings they used to have? They are still there and stronger than ever. The question is will life get in the way of their HEA again? Stephens kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end waiting to see if Jolie and Griffin would get the ending, they deserved. I love a good siblings best friend romance and add in the fact it was a second chance romance too and I was sold. Griffin and Jolie have experienced so much heartache and loss that honestly, they deserved nothing but the best. The secondary characters for the most part left something else to be desired. The Truth About Us only gets 4 stars from me because even though it was good I wasn’t head over heels in love with it. But I hope you take a chance on these two, they were good for passing time. Plot-4/5 Characters-4/5 Heat-4/5 Writing style-4/5 Overall-4/5
Jolie was shattered when the love of her life walked away without a backwards glance. Moving on was hard for her but eventually she meets Mason and starts a new life for herself. Ten years after her first love broke her heart, circumstances throw them back together. Jolie is now a widow and life hasn’t been kind to her. I really like Jolie. She’s been through a lot and she’s still dealing with the aftermath. Seeing Griff after so long isn’t easy for her and brings all that old heartache rushing back and it was hard not to sympathise with her.
Griff is determined not to let Jolie get away again. Having always loved her he sees them meeting again as his second chance and grabs on to it with both hands but Jolie isn’t ready to forgive and forget just yet. They have a lot to work through and with family drama and revelations causing a few bumps along the way, Griff and Jolie have a lot to overcome.
I loved that both main characters were flawed in their own way, that their pasts had left their marks and helped shape them into the people they’ve grown to be. I love a second chance romance and loved Jolie and Griffs story. I can’t wait to read more from R.C. Stephens.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review. Griffin was Jolie's brothers best friend growing up. Jolie and Griffin were friends until their feelings grew into something more. Griffin did not have the best home life and because of that he was at Jolie's house quite a bit. After a tragedy strikes both Jolie and Griffin return home, but will Jolie understand why Griffin had to leave and will Griffin even tell her why he left? This is a second chance romance book with a lot of drama. I felt the author did a lot of telling about their relationship instead of showing until later on in the book. Jolie has gone through a lot in the 10 years since they parted and both Jolie and Griffin are broken. There were a few parts I was surprised happened, but most of it felt predictable. I did like that this was dual P.O.V. so we saw both sides to the story. I also enjoyed the epilogue and it hints the next story will be Jolie's brother. This is an angsty second chance romance book.
Griffin and Jolie are each others everything until it all went to crap. Griffin struggled growing up, and found a second home with his best friends family, included in that family is his best friends sister, Jolie. These two loved each other so deeply, until it wasn't anymore. Fast forward years later, not seeing each other all those years, they both figure that they still have this connection.
Life has happened while they were apart, their second chance at love is here, knocking hard at the door. The twists and turns, oh gosh, no way, I could not put this book down at all! This book had all the heartbreak, swooning, steam, ache and a million extra points for the cover! Wowzers! Definitely recommend this best friends sister/brothers best friend book! I really enjoyed it!
Jolie is the little sister of Griffin’s best friend and they are sweethearts, albeit secretly, until he disappears one day. Now 10 years later they are both back in town for a family tragedy, and the attraction between them is still as intense are it always was. Will Griffin be able to convince Jolie to take a 2nd chance on them? This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster journey throughout which had me on tenterhooks. This story is filled with drama, secrets, twists and heartbreak which all leads to a gritty and powerful story. I look forward to reading more from this gifted author whose work I highly recommend for all.
Griffin is Jolie's older brother's best friend. When they were young, their relationship somehow grew from friendship into something more. Then Griffin just up and left with no goodbye to Jolie. Now, ten years later, they are seeing each other for the first time. Both have been through a lot and both are carrying a lot of baggage. Their struggle isn't their attraction to each other, it's everything else the world throws at them. This book constantly pulled at my heart strings. You know the saying, "When it rains it pours"? This is Jolie's situation. What I loved about her was her strength and how she chooses to react. This book does have a HAE for the two characters but the bow it's wrapped in is a little frayed by the time the story is over. I highly suggest this book to anyone looking for a steamy read with a little grit and rawness to it.
Jolie & Griffin’s love story will bring you on quite the journey.
Having known each other nearly their entire lives, he being her big brother’s best friend he was constantly around. Their love developed over time and when they were ready they had a secret relationship. Jolie’s father wasn’t the nicest man to Griff, and eventually Griff broke Jolie’s heart.
Fast forward 10 years. There’s been much more heartache and break, but when these two are reunited it doesn’t take long to fall back into step. Only, the drama isn’t ever far from them it seems...
If it’s not one thing, it’s another trying to keep these two apart but they’ll both keep fighting for their HEA.
*LOVE SECOND CHANCE ROMANCES! This is a good one too!
Jolie and Griff have a history that will pull at your heart from the get-go. A heartbreaker of a story with chemistry and a ton of feelings. I really enjoyed this second chance romance by RC Stephens. It sucked me and and kept me on edge until the very end.
What a lot of heart-wrenching twists and turns there are in this book, the revelations and consequences are so emotional.
Griff and Jolie have been to hell and back from a young age. I felt a lot of sadness/grief for them both. This is their second chance at love with each other but ten years apart doesn't make it easy. There are so many factors trying to keep these two apart, secrets being one factor. I was certainly rooting for them!
I loved the conclusion to their story and I can't wait for the next book in the series which I believe is Logan's story; Jolie's brother so I'm sure there is more angst to come. If you like a second chance romance with a bit of angst and a few twists and turns in your read then this is definitely one for you!
Yeah, no. I'm not going to be arsed reading a book from a writer who can't do proper research. TWICE this writer referred to the Eric Clapton song 'Tears In Heaven' as 'Stairway To Heaven!' Jfc, is the writer in primary school? Or have they just been living under a fucking rock? Because you'd have to be really out of touch to not know that 'Stairway' is by LED ZEPPLIN - who are bloody legendary - and they made that song one of the most iconic in the history of modern music. Lazy writers piss me off.
Also, the word for starving is 'famished' OR 'ravenous.' It is NOT 'ravished.'
A bucket is also a 'pail.' NOT a 'pale.'
The editing is terrible. Really. If this book was even edited, the person who did it needs to find another job.
Also, this book sucks. Weak characters, stupid, recycled plot. Aye, the H loved the h so much he HAD to leave her - for 10 YEARS. Without a word. Never tried to see her in a frickin decade. He also proved how head over heels in love he was by shagging other women!
I know, right? So romantic!!
What. A. Bell. End.
And the h is so pathetic and useless all she can think is how hot he is and how much she wants to bang him.
Sod this overwrought, amateurish attempt at a book.

After reading this blurb I knew I needed to get my hands on this book. Second chance romances are my favorite. R.C. Stephens is a new to me author and I can’t wait to read more work from this author.
Jolie and Griffin grew up together and had a special friendship. He was best friends with Jolie’s older brother and off limits. As they got older they couldn’t fight their feelings any more and had a secret relationship. Jolie thought things were good between them until one day he was just gone.
Now ten years later and he is back and she wants nothing to do with him. He has his reasons for leaving and wants to make things right. When they are forced to be around each other they have no choice but to talk. Will they be able to make things work again?
I really enjoyed this book and will be reading more work from this author.
I’ve always been a big believer in the idea that we may not get to pick and chose our blood relatives, but we do get to choose the family we truly want. Whether that is through friendship, or through the kindness and acceptance of another family taking you in as their own.
R.C Stephens opens up the story by introducing us to teenaged Jolie and Griffin, two adolescents caught up in small crushes and the idea of first love. Griffin promises Jolie the moon and back but after circumstances beyond his control happen which force him away from Jolie, 10 years pass before they are able to reunite.
Unfortunately during these ten years, Jolie had gone through hell and back both with her second relationship/first marriage and with double the heartbreak after Griffin had left without even a goodbye after taking her virginity. Plagued with self-esteem issues as a teenager after Griffin, Jolie grows up to be a secluded woman, preferring to live life safe over taking any risk. Griffin on the other hand, a man who’d experienced such a horrible childhood with an alcoholic father made something of himself as a big shot in Hollywood.
When a chance reunión happens, Griffin knows that this time around, he won’t give up on being with Jolie even if that means telling her the truth about why he left all those years ago and just what her father had to do with the whole mess.
Though these two characters reunite hoping for a happily ever after this time around, Griff and Jolie have to our their love to the test when their past comes knocking.
This was a friends to lovers, best-friend’s sister and second chance romance all in one which I read it in one sitting because I just couldn’t keep my eyes open.

Jolie Bryant & Griffin Campbell fell in love when they were teenagers, but it was complicated. He was her brother's best friend, & her father didn't want her around him. Still, they were able to steal moments together, and Griff was her first in everything, and after she gave him herself, she didn't hear from him again. Many years later, Jolie's heart is completely shattered from Griff, who she never got over, & her husband who died, so she's not at all interested in dating or relationships. She hadn't been home in years when she got a call from her mother, and suddenly, she was on her way home to help said mother. What Jolie didn't count on was Griff coming home either, in fact, they ended up on the same flight. Griff has really made something of himself in Hollywood, and wants to talk to Jolie, who he didn't count on seeing, but she's having none of him, and frankly, I couldn't blame her at all. He kept trying to get her to talk to him, and finally she did, and she found out why he left her like that all those years ago. I completely understood his reasoning, but I still had issues with why he stayed away so long. Griff probably wouldn't have ever talked to her if they weren't in the same place at the same time, so yeah, he was still on my list. They start to repair what was broken, and as things were getting better, BAM! HUGE twists that had me dropping f-bombs while Jolie was the collateral damage when they hit. Now, I'm totally enraged at everyone, which led to the end, so how did it all pan out?! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you one click this emotional story to find out!
💔💔💔Beautiful and romantic story of a love that isn’t easy 💔💔💔
This book could almost be a coming of age, or the re-awakening of two souls, with the impetus provided by yet another family tragedy. It also brings together two of my favourite facets in a romance: Second chances and dual POV, accompanied with a side of brother’s best friend. I couldn’t put it down and was invested in our two main characters from the start.
Throughout her early years, Jolie had the perfect and sheltered life, until she experienced love and ultimate betrayal at a young age. She kept her secret close to her heart, locked away from her family, eventually moving on with her life. Griff had loved her and inexplicably disappeared, ghosting her on social media.
Griff had lived the best life that he could, and after reading why he left, my heart broke for both of them. 10 years were stolen from them. 10 years!
To all intents, the Bryant family looked perfect, but beneath, everyone kept their own secrets, and they were actually, in truth, all broken. As secrets started to spill, my heart broke not only for Jolie and Griff, but for a young secondary character whose life was put into a tailspin of wrong decisions that ended up devastating her life. They all suffered years of heartbreak bought on by the selfish actions and choices of a parental figure which ultimately coloured the way they viewed life. Some changed and grew in spite of things, while others withered under the pressure.
RC Stephens pulled all emotions together in a perfect storm of love, hypocrisy, betrayal and lies. This is why her books are always a guaranteed great read for me and I will highly recommend her to all and sundry!!. 5 Stars
This is the first book I’ve read by R.C. Stephens and I can definitely say that it will not be my last. This was a fantastic second chance/brothers best friend romance.
Griffin is ultra swoon worthy. He is loving, caring, sweet and will do anything for a second chance with the love of his life. He hasn’t always had the best life and when he was forced to leave the one person he loved more than anything it changed him. Jolie is a amazing. She is a fighter, a survivor and has so much love for her entire family, despite being dealt some bad cards in her life. When Griffin and Jolie are back together will the sparks fly and will these former lovers get the second chance they deserve?
The chemistry between Griffin and Jolie is fantastic, even after years apart. Once they run into each other again you can feel that instant spark, instant attraction and love that never really went away for the both of them. I loved their relationship and how hard Griffin fought for a second chance.
This story was EMOTIONAL! The was so much family drama, but the way Jolie and Griffin handled it had my heart bursting at the seams. I LOVED it and it is what made these two so amazing.
I’d highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an emotional second chance romance!
4 Stars Review by Lisa Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog
R.C Stephens has a way with words and the layout of a story unfolding. The Truth About Us gives us just that. From the start we are swept up in the love affair and then, BAM!,.off to the races. Holy smokes I was hooked till the end especially with everything that just kept coming till the end.
The story is told in dual point of view, which is my favorite. It includes second chances, brothers best friend, family drama and so much more.
This story even has those moments that breaks your heart. You can feel the heartbreak jumping off the pages just as much as the hot chemistry does.
Jolie and Griffin's story starts when they are young. But life has other plans for them. Not so easy plans either. After years of trying to survive, they come face to face and things start rolling and unraveling fast. From that point on, it's a roller coaster that you don't want to miss.
The Truth About Us is the perfect title for this story. It is so well written and has all the feels.
It is a standalone but leaves you wanting more.

A second chance at love, and two people who are lost but might find themselves once they face their past. I love Jolie and Griffin’s story because they have to fight for what they love. They haven’t had things easy and they grow stronger by themselves but also with one another.
Jolie and Griffin were childhood sweethearts but Griffin left without even saying goodbye. Now they are back together and will have to either face the past or run again.
Jolie doesn’t want to give Griffin a chance to hurt her again. But she can’t deny that she still feels some kind of attraction to him. She just doesn’t know if she is willing to give him a second chance. Her life has not been easy since he left and giving him another chance means putting her heart on the line again.
Griffin knows that this is his chance to make things right with Jolie. But she keeps distancing herself from him and won’t stay in the same room as him without someone else present. He won’t give up though, he knows that they deserve their second chance he just needs to prove it to her.
Will they be able to take a chance on one another again? Or will the past and the present be too much to overcome?

The Truth About Us is a standalone forbidden romance written by author R.C. Stephens. This book tells the story of Jolie Bryant and Griffin Campbell, and it’s full of drama, angst, and heartbreak. Griffin is best friends with Jolie’s older brother, and they do their best to hide their relationship. She finally convinces him that she’s ready, and they have a special day together. But then he disappears, and she never hears anything from him.
Now, fast forward ten years and Jolie has some serious baggage. When she gets a call from her mom, she quickly packs to head back home. But who does she run into? Griffin and he is determined to explain. Although she has no interest in listening to his excuses.
The Truth About Us had a great storyline, and I quickly became engrossed in it. There were several twists that I didn’t expect, and I was continually trying to guess what would happen next. It’s a definite add to your TBR list.
