There’s always that one girl who has all these dreams, yet she can’t reach them because she’s constantly tripping over her own two feet.
That’s me. I’m that girl. The unorganized, chaotic, hot mess.
I’m the struggling artist who refuses to give up my love for pizza just because society constantly shoves thin, perfectly toned bodies in my face saying that’s what women are supposed to look like.
Oh, and I’m filthy rich. On paper anyway. I can’t touch my trust fund just yet, so to get those nasty debt-collectors off my back I rent out the snazzy mansion my parents left me.
Of course it has to be Tate Montgomery who moves in—the super sexy celebrity with three million, five hundred and twenty-six followers on Instagram. And of course I have to be the paint-covered walking disaster who falls for said famous tenant.
The problem? Tate and I, we’re not compatible…at all. He’s arrogant. I’m stubborn. It’s a train wreck waiting to happen.
Hot Mess was entertaining and charming. I 100% absolutely adored this book. It was a like a breath of fresh air. I feel so light and energized after reading this. It was the perfect start to my morning.
Wren Keller is a quirky pizza loving, wine drinking, fuzzy sock wearing artist. Her parent have passed away and left her with all their wealth but that is quickly diminishing and she can’t access her trust fund for another two years so she has to come up with a way to earn money, fast. It is difficult to find work as an artist or sell any of her pieces so she resorts to renting out her parents mansion that is now hers. She moves into the pool house when a certain sexy, drool worthy, bad boy model named Tate Montgomery moves in. Living on the same property as Tate is hard. He is constantly walking around without a shirt on and leaving his abs and delectable V on full display. He is always infuriating her. She doesn’t know whether to jump him or throttle him. Tate find Wren intriguing and totally crazy but he can’t get enough of her. He has never felt like this before.
What I loved about this book was that there was no unnecessary drama. There was no angst and it’s perfect for readers who just want a quick and fun read. Wren was an incredibly easy heroine to love. She loved pizza and could eat hourly and not worry what people thought of her. Although she was struck by Tate’s insanely good looks and used to salivate at his body, she didn’t lose herself around him. She stayed true to herself.
I can’t wait for the rest of the books in this series. I know all of them will be superb.
Oh how I loved reading this! Such a cute light hearted read by an amazing author! It was full of hilarious and swoony moments that had me smiling and laughing most of the way through! If your looking for a good mood picker upper this is for you. And even if your not it's still for you. Lol! Amazing read!
Hot Mess by R. Linda is book 1 in the Messy Love Series. This is Wren Keller and Tate Montgomery's story. And what a great read it is!! This is full of heart, heat and humor. A real gem- a lightweight comedy that is full of feels, romance and hilarity. Tate and Wren really make this story shine. I do wish it didn't have that HFN feel because it leaves everything up in the air but that does allude there will be more books with Wren and Tate , it seems. Other than my one minor issue with the story, this is a sweet and beautiful story with fantastic main characters and a great story.
I really enjoyed R Linda’s scandalous series so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Hot Mess.
After reading so many dark books recently Hot Mess was exactly what I needed! Full of hilarious moments, this book was a light hearted read which had me cheesy smiling at my kindle!
I related so much with Wren, as I am a hot mess express most days. I loved that this book wasn’t full of drama but in no way did that take away anything from the story.
I totally recommend this book if you need to smile!
Hot Mess was everything I laughed out loud many times, I craved pizza and wanted to vagina punch Rachel Wren and Tate are awesome and I totally want a Wren in my life Hot Mess is an easy fun read I can’t wait for more in the messy series...and pizza
The title font is a bold, fun mess that fits the book name and synopsis. The layered photoshopped model composition is okay in thumbnail preview but loses its togetherness once full size. Regardless, the bright colors on the cover were enough to initially catch my eye and the synopsis caught my attention. This sounded like it would be an entertaining book!
Wren’s parents left her everything when they passed away two years ago but the immediate assets have dwindled to nothing and her trust fund was unobtainable for another two years. Applying for jobs was not panning out so, in desperation, she resorted to renting out the mansion while she continued to live in the “pool house” out back. After a poor decision and bad press, Tate was ordered by his agent to find somewhere out of the spotlight to lay low for a while. He ended up on Wren’s doorstep with his soul-sucking, mean leach of a fake fiancée. Together, they rented the mansion. Tate never expected Wren’s quirky and unapologetic nature. Rachel was in a constantly livid, vile mood around Wren. It was a living situation that was bound to explode sooner or later. The more Wren and Tate got to know one another, the more cruel and destructive Rachel became… never mind the fact that Tate and Rachel’s relationship was FAKE; a PR stunt to excel both their careers. Ditching the witch was the best thing Tate could have done. Eventually, he did and it allowed him more time to openly explore this thing that was developing between himself and Wren. Their story was cute, funny, and sweet. There was plenty of chemistry, even when they did not know what to do with it. The plot was strong & the execution was wonderful. The story flowed smoothly and it was a true joy to read. Most of their friends were enjoyable. Predictability was on par with the plot. Satisfying HFN ending. My only (minor) criticism is that a few times, Tate is described as hanging with his “mates” as opposed to buddies, pals, or friends (setting: posh California gated community) and they took a “lift” to their hotel room. It was those minor terminology slips that took me out of the setting and reminded me that the author did not primarily use US English. This was the first piece I’ve read by this author and I truly enjoyed her storytelling and character-building abilities. . Ok. First things First. I have waited over a month to use those pizza pictures. I saw them and thought HOT MESS NEEDS THESE PIZZAS! 🍕 Now why would I need Pizza’s? Wren, lovely, laughable, corky, smart, adorable Wren is obsessed with Pizza. I mean, a bit unhealthily obsessed if I do say so myself. Not an obsession that I would disagree with. A good unhealthy obsession. 🍕 Wren is a hoot. She is chaos’s sister. Not the earth ending in fire chaos, more like food everywhere, not ever knowing what is going to happen next chaos. Tate....... Tate is a bit of cocky SOB that does NOT know what has hit him. He is used to fake. Fake attitudes, fake smiles, fake.....uh ya know.... boobies. Wren is everything but fake. 🍕 This book was a delightful read. I had to cover my mouth at one point to stop from laughing too loud to wake the baby. Man-Scaping....... That is all I am going to say. 🍕 Wren needs Tate. Well..... She needs Tate’s Money. Being the poor rich girl was going to mess up her two times a week standing order of Pizza. 🍕 Tate needs Wren....... her spacious secluded mansion, more like it. He needs a break from the public eye before his career is ruined. 🍕 But maybe, just maybe they need each other more than they thought. Maybe the cocky playboy might just need a little chaos. 🍕 Enjoy this hilarious adorable book! I did! 🍕
This was a fun, easy read. Wren is an artist whose parents died unexpectedly and she can’t part with the house or their belongings, even though she is struggling to keep the bills paid. She finally decides to rent out the mansion while she lives in the pool house. Tate is a famous model who needs a place to lay low and let some bad publicity blow over.
Tate and Wren have incredible chemistry. Even their bickering is entertaining. Wren’s friend Eva is funny, too. I love Wren’s free spirit and ability to stand up for herself. Her joy in the simple things is very refreshing.
This is a low drama, angst-free fun book. It’s perfect for summer reading.
I absolutely loved everything about this book. I loved the characters and their personalities. I loved the banter between the characters and their relationships.i loved the setting of this story and how well it fit with the characters. Wren is literally goals. I loved how her relationship with Tate changed throughout the book. Such a fun and flirty plus witty story. Definitely get you some pizza beforehand because as much as Wren eats the deliciousness it had me craving pizza to hear about it. I will definitely read this author again and recommend this book to all readers who love a good book!!!
This was a great rom com! I love a good belly laugh whilst I read and this one delivered!! R. Linda is a fantastically talented author and love how she likes to keep her characters grounded and very ‘normal’ and relatable.
I loved the interaction between Tate and Wren and how hilariously accident prone she is, usually due to his actions. I especially liked that he was the one who realised his feelings first and took steps to ensure Wren would be his. His thoughtfulness and pure alpha hotness was super sexy! The waxing scene was a particular favourite of mine!!
Wren was a woman we can all see ourselves in. She was apologetically real and I fell in love with her instantly. Trent was so well written and knowing who he was based on helped with the shirtless sweatpants scenes. R. Linda has always written really amazing book boyfriends and this one is no different. I felt connected to Wren as someone who loves Pizza and is almost too broke to afford it. I opened the book and didn't put it down until I was done. Great book by a great author! Can't wait too see what comes next in the Hot Mess series!

🍕🍕🍕 Do not stand between a Wren and her pizza!! 🍕🍕🍕
This Romantic Comedy from R. Linda is laugh out loud funny, and I can only be impressed with her imagination as she wrote some of the bizarre situations that Wren got herself into.
She is a pizza loving clumsy and brilliant artist who is completely comfortable in her own skin. I absolutely adored her, especially her penchant for pizza, and one would be silly to get in the way of her segmented prizes, or lose an arm in the process! Hell, the woman even had a standing order for Pizza twice a week, paid one month in advance! I also loved her taste in best friends, because while Eva was her biggest cheerleader, she would also be the one to lead Wren into a pot-load of trouble. Everyone needs a friend like her.
Tate Montgomery is a male model on the rise with a plan to make it to the top, and he had a showmance with a spoilt skinny chick from Hollywood royalty. His name was getting out there while connected with hers, and he was keeping her in the current news. She was becoming a liability, and when it came time to end it, I was a little surprised that the girlfriend didn’t kick up more of a stink TBH and kept waiting for some blowback from her.
Although an absolute d!ckhead at the beginning, because the girlfriend bought out the absolute worst in him, Tate was actually a great guy, and I really enjoyed Ms Linda’s story development between him and Wren. It was everything that rom coms are made of, and made for a quick and fun read. I recommend not only her writing but her newsletters as well. She is truly as funny as a fight. 4.5 Stars.
What a hilarious and fun romance read by R. Linda! The heroine Wren was absolutely wonderful with her pizza obsession and artistic quirkiness! The hero Tate was dreamy, sexy and sweet! This book had me laughing and squirming with delight.
I was quite pleased to see some detailed steamy scenes from this author since it’s not her usual writing style. It added to the heat this read needed!
Hot Mess was a little on the short side and left me wanting so much more at the end! It felt like it ended rather abruptly. I couldn’t get enough of Wren and Tate and their awkward encounters!
This story had me laughing out loud. I could totally relate to the pizza-loving Wren. She really is a hot mess. Her parents left her with loads of money, but she can't touch it just yet, so to make ends meet, she decides to rent out her home to the one and only, Tate Montgomery. Tate is the it guy. His popularity is on the rise thanks to his GF (yup, she's the it girl). But looks can be deceiving. Wren and Tate form an awkward kind of friendship, which of course, develops into something more.
There are heaps of funny moments throughout, and a few cringeworthy moments thrown into the mix. There's also a lot of sweet, awww moments to melt your heart.
I was laughing out loud from the very first page with this author that I have had sitting on my Kindle for some time but have not read until now. This is her new release that is a wonderful light-hearted read about Wren, a young lady trying to make it in her messy life. This is an extremely entertaining read that will give you that feel good feeling without all the drama some books will give you to fill up the pages. Girl meets Boy – Boy upsets Girl – Boy wants Girl – Girl wants Boy – Boy wins Girl. But this may sound straight forward but NO this is a humorous read with a heroine that you will completely relate to. Wren is quirky, fun, confident, real, vulnerable, independent, clumsy and messy. Tate is an arrogant, sexy, Hot, gorgeous, kind, flirty, famous and wrongly judge as a bad boy.
Wren is a struggling artist who needs to find a job for the next two years until her trust fund is available for her to obtain, then she can start to build her dream of owning an Art Gallery? He is left with no income after her parents are killed, she has a lot of wealth left from her parents in assists, but she is unable to part with any items of her parents for sentimental reasons. Wren is having a love affair, but not with what you would think.
"I needed to rent out their house. It was the only way to ensure my love affair with pizza would survive."
"I grabbed my pizza and eyed it sadly, I'd die without pizza. I mean, if push came to shove, I could survive without water, gas and power."
Tate Montgomery is a male model on the rise, but living a life of desperation with his pretend girlfriend Rachelle. He has a bit of a bad boy to imagine that he needs to fix. He has been told to lay low and retreat to somewhere secluded for a while, he needs to find a place to live for a while. His girlfriend is a famous “It Girl” that has both been a valued asset to his career as well as a bad influence.
A super sexy celebrity is renting her house!!!!
Wren soon learns he his a bit of **@@ head and his girlfriend is very mean. But she needs the money for her Love.
Tate soon finds himself too concerned about his landlady than he should be, she was different than the girls in his world.
"Wren Keller was...something else entirely. She was, in a word, unique, and I had concerns about living in her house."
"She came into my life a whirlwind of color and eccentricity and unknowingly showed me a different side of myself. A better side. She made me better."
Can these two live in the same space?
Will they find what they both need the most in life?
Can Wren get her dreams?
Or will Tate’s Bad Boy image keep them apart?
I was given an Arc copy of this book to which I am leaving my honest and voluntary review of this book I would highly recommend to any romance reader.
4.5 ⭐ [I received a digital arc for an honest review]
Hot Mess is my first R. Linda romantic comedy and it was hilarious! It's an easy fun read that will have you laughing out loud.
"I needed to rent out their house. It was the only way to ensure my love affair with pizza would survive."
Wren is a hot mess. She's a struggling artist who needs to survive the next two years until her inheritance kicks in. Until then, she's drowning in bills and refuses to give up her late parents possessions. To make ends meet she rents out her parents main house in order to make ends meet. Her tenant ends up being only the hottest model ever who is completely drool worthy. He unfortunately comes with a bad attitude, a horrendous fiance, and he may be more trouble than its worth.
"I grabbed my pizza and eyed it sadly, I'd die without pizza. I mean, if push came to shove, I could survive without water, gas and power."
R. Linda has created a character that I would totally be friends with. Wren is quirky, confident and not ashamed of her love of pizza. No joke it takes number one priority in her life. She's curvy and proud of her body but I love how like most women even she has moments of insecurities. Then we have gorgeous Tate who puts up with a horrible human being just to further his career. He is arrogant and rude but somehow even from the beginning we are able to see glimpses of the fun guy underneath all that. When he's not being a dick he is flirty and kind. By the end of the book I was swooning over the charming, supportive man he had become.
"I'd never get enough of her. The way her body fit mine. The little noises she made. The way she kissed. Her taste. Her smile."
Hot mess is such an entertaining and well written romantic comedy. The bickering between Wren and Tate will have you chuckling. Then there's the slow build up of sexual tension between them that will leave you anticipating the moment they finally kiss, and that moment perfectly fit them.
"Me? You kissed me. Took advantage of my weakened state and molested my mouth with your tongue."
Hot Mess was fabulous and I will be keeping an eye out for all future R. Linda releases!
"What do I matter?" "You matter, Wren. Believe me."
OMG!!!! Everyone must read this book. I loved it from beginning to the very end.
Wren Keller has been struggling to sell her artwork to afford her life since her parents passed away 2 years ago. Not being able to touch her trust fund for at least 2 years, Wren has decided to lease her house out to make ends meet. Having not found someone worthy enough to lease her house, she opens the door to come face to face with bad boy Tate Montgomery.
“I liked pizza and beer too much to care my hip bones didn’t poke holes in my pants.”
Tate Montgomery was advised by his agent to lay low after getting into an altercation with a photographer. Attempting to find a house hidden where the paparazzi wont’ be attempting to break in every second of the day he wanders upon Wren’s house. Starting the house tour, his girlfriend Rachel Eastman takes it upon herself to lay out on the pool lounger. They sign the lease and move in.
While Wren may be relieved that her twice weekly pizza deliveries will continue on, she can’t believe who has moved in. Hoping to get back on track with her doll heads artwork, she is determined to find a job anywhere. Thankfully she has a best friend who also steals her pizza, rude, but keeps her on her toes, Eva! However, if Wren doesn’t find a job soon it may not matter that Tate is giving her money every month.
Will Wren find a job so she can keep her parents' house and her pizza deliveries following in? Will Tate be able to keep his feelings from Wren reined in, while being unhappily engaged to Rachel? Will Rachel keep her craziness at bay or let the cat out of the bag of the sham her and Tate’s relationship has been?
“If you’re so organize, why is there a purple bra hanging from the exposed beam?” I pointed up to the ceiling. Wren rolled her eyes. “Fine, I’m only organized when it comes to my pizza delivery. I’m very diligent about my pizza.” I’d leave the pizza for another time, but the bra intrigued me. “Doesn’t explain the bra.” She huffed out a sigh and rubbed her fingers across her forehead to ease the headache I imagined I was giving her. “I was trying to make a slingshot with it but shot my bra across the room instead.” “And the thong?” Which was hanging on the rafter behind the bra. “I was trying to shoot the bra down.”
I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. If you loved Micalea Smeltzer’s Desperately Seeking Roommate, you will love this. I loved all the characters in this book. Wren is my new favorite heroine for 2019. I love that her favorite pizza place is “Lover” in her phone. I giggled, because mine is Five Star and its “Pizza my heart”. While reading this book I loved the scene written where Wren and Eva put a kiddie pool in the big pool and fell asleep while watching a movie. I have always wanted to do that. I want a BFF like Eva. She had Wren’s back and pushed her out of her comfort zone when Wren needed it happen to her.
There were too many good points in this book, that is too hard to point or talk about just one. If you like funny, strong heroines who don’t necessarily need to be saved....unless on an airplane, then this book is for you. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book. I truly hope you like it as much as I did.
If you’re looking for a fun, quirky romance, then you need to pick up Hot Mess by R. Linda today!
Wren is down on her luck, and needs to make some money, so what does she do? She ends up renting out her house to the one and only Tate Montgomery. Things should be easy, she will get the money she needs to get the debt collectors off her back, she can continue her love affair with pizza, and Tate can get some of the privacy he needs. The problem is, these two seem to always be up in one another’s business and keep finding each other in interesting and hilarious situations.
Things don’t start off great for Tate and Wren, but you could tell there was something there between them. I loved Wren’s “I refuse to become a stereotype, like it or leave it” attitude of hers. Sure sometimes the things that would be said hurt her, but she was who she was and she stuck to her guns about who she was and she wasn’t going to change, and I loved this about her. Tate on the other hand, he had appearances to keep, and even though some things that were said about Wren he knew hurt her, made me so angry because at first it seemed like he didn’t care, but he always made up for it and showed that he actually did.
What I totally loved was how Tate showed Wren he actually did care about her and the lengths he went to do it. I understood Wren being nervous and scared at first, but OMG let’s talk about swooning over here! Tate may have been a little over the top with making his move, but at the same time, Wren may have needed it with everything she’s been through in her life.
This book was sweet, funny, and really didn’t have that much drama. It was the perfect “pick me up” book, and one that will have you laughing, swooning, and a perfect book if you’re looking for a quick read. This was my first read from this author, and I will definitely be on the look out for more books by her. I definitely recommend Hot Mess, and can’t wait to see what is in store for the Messy Love Series!
"Tate Montgomery. The Tate Montgomery. Model. Bad boy. Hot as, well...a hot potato."
Wren Keller is in dire straits. She's essentially a poor little rich girl orphan. She has no access to liquid assets for another two years. In the meantime, she's desperately seeking employment whilst working on her art. In a last ditch attempt to raise money, she's made the difficult decision to put her family mansion up for rent. Imagine her shock when she finds the bad boy of the modelling world on her doorstep. Imagine her disappointment when she finds him to be arrogant and infuriating.
"Wren Keller was...something else entirely. She was, in a word, unique, and I had concerns about living in her house."
Tate Montgomery is trying to clean up his reputation and catapult his career to another level. He needs seclusion from the paparazzi and people in general. However, he's finding this difficult to accomplish between his landlord's visitors and his party-loving, self-absorbed, out-of-control girlfriend. His landlord, Wren, is proving to be another kind of distraction altogether. She's so different from the women he's used to meeting or dealing with, and he can't help being drawn to her. However, he risks his very career by giving in to his desire for her.
"She came into my life a whirlwind of color and eccentricity and unknowingly showed me a different side of myself. A better side. She made me better."
Wren and Tate were fab! Wren was a fantastic female lead. I loved the situations she got herself into. Hot mess, indeed!! LOL. I loved that she didn't really give a damn what other people thought of her and she was happy in her skin. Yet, underneath it all, she had some really vulnerable soft spots. Tate was freakin' gorgeous and he did what he needed to do to get ahead. However, he absolutely melted my heart when he stepped up for Wren and did what he had to do to make her life better.
I absolutely loved this story, that’s one thing i love about R. Linda she can write such different books and execute them so dam well.
This thing i loved about this book was that The main character Wren was a girl that we can all relate to, clumsy, not super skinny, not perfect but most of the time loved who she was and never apologised for it and in a way she got the happy ending we all dream about, wether you think of a hot Chris Hemsworth or a hot book boyfriend, a hot sports star you know it will never happen but you can dream about it.
In Wrens case she gets the hot model to move into her house to rent off her and there story goes from there, i really liked Tate even when he was douche but come on if i guy looks like Nick Batemen of course he will have an ego. I loved how he saw Wren from the start and just took her and her pizza living ways in his stride.
I laughed out loud so many times and my mum even asked what i was reading because i one point i couldn’t stop laughing. This was silly, romantic and such a great story.
Loved it so much R. Linda has done it again her writing is so easy to read but gets you right into the story from the start. I read this book in one sitting it was fun flirty and dreamy.
If you a fan of a rom com then you have to pick up this books it’s amazing.
••*** There's a will or a possibility of a few or a lot of spoilers****•••
I thought hmmm; the Description ehhh... not sure if it's going to be good or not! But dang it was actually good. I laugh a lot while reading this book. Wren was hilarious, especially when it came to her pizza. But what I realize is that often that a lot of authors have written books about women who are big bone & that they have either been disrespected for being more significant or relationships has failed. When in reality that's not the case... because for one woman who is medium size or skinny has it hard too when it comes to people judging there size and loving them for who they are... I just want a book with at least with a skinny or medium size female with these problems and also over 5'5...
Other than that I actually liked this book because for one Tate was good for Wren and Wren was good for Tate... I was glad when he got rid of Rachel horrible self.... she was so annoying and hated on Wren for no particular reason; when Wren didn't give a flying rats ass about Rachel... I was surprised that Wren didn't say anything about the party Rachel had in her back yard & then telling everyone to leave. When Wren got in her ass for calling her a whale... I don't understand how someone can hate someone due to their size, either small or big.... for one Wren had a real body whereas Rachel was plastic... I glad Tate wanted real over fake... quirky over wack.. weird or boogie...
Btw: I wonder what book two will be about... hopefully, her friend Eva 😌👌
This was such a fun, refreshing, light hearted read!
Wren is rich (on paper) but finds herself in need of money. She tries to hunt down a job but with no experience no one will hire her! so she decides to rent out her family’s home. This is where Tate Montgomery comes along. A super sexy celebrity! He needs a place to lay low for a bit and stay out of the public eye. So it's the perfect solution, for Tate to become Wrens new tenant. Now watch this hot mess unfold....
I was literally smiling and laughing throughout this whole book! Wren is someone who I would love to be my friend, she just seems like such a crazy nutter! and her love for PIZZA, yes girl!!! (My type of person) Wren and Tate are both such loveable characters and I couldn't get enough of them both. They just worked so well together! I need more of them both! What happens next?
Wren was definitely as you say an unorganized, chaotic, hot mess
As much as I LOVE the Scandalous Series, I think I can say this is my favorite work of Renee!! If I ever need a good laugh, then I will definitely be coming back to read this again!
*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*
Love, Love, Love!!!!! This is a fabulous read from R. Linda who I have been a fan of since her first book in the Scandalous Series- Bailey and the Bad Boy! I must say that this one has definitely topped out as my favorite book by her!
I have a HUGE girl-crush on Wren. Like for real, you know how people have book boyfriends? She is my new book girlfriend, I freaking love her. Tate is pretty awesome as well and I love how open but a little arrogant he is but Wren is awesome.
Wren is in a bit of a bind. She is rich, well she used to be and she will be again in a few years but that is not helping her out now. After the tragedy of her parents passing, she is not allowed access to her trust fund until she is 25. If she does not want to sell her parents house and the things that meant the most to them (other than herself) she needs to find a solution and fast. She decides to rent out the house and the guy that decides to lease it is none other than Tate, the super hot model she cyber stalks.
You HAVE to read this book and see how this all plays out with the sexy hot model living in this hot mess' house.
I received this book for free and am voluntarily reviewing it, but I give it 5 outta 5 stars completely!!
This was the first book I've read of R. Linda's but I'd definitely be looking to read more in the future!
Hot Mess is a funny laugh-out-loud romantic comedy centering around Tate, a model in need of a hideout, and Wren, an artist that can't afford to keep the lifestyle her parents left for her. She decides to rent out the mansion while still living in the pool house.
I loved Wren. She seemed very real while reading, loves pizza, and has the most awesome ideas on how to make art. (bra slingshot?)
Tate, while trying to keep up the pretense of being a celebrity, was still fairly down to earth throughout the book. We see both sides to the professional modeling career. Although he annoyed Wren at first, he was very sweet on her.
There wasn't a whole lot of drama - mostly within the beginning while he still has a fake fiancee/girlfriend for publicity. Once they decided to date, it was smooth sailing til the end.
I did think the book ended abruptly, I would have liked another epilogue, or something farther into the future. (Maybe just want more of Tate and Wren in general.) Their romance was sweet and sexy at the same time - great easy read.
• I received an ARC but am leaving an honest and voluntary review •
R. Linda had me hooked with the title. Hot Mess is something that I am on a daily basis so I knew this was a must read for me.
Her characters are real. They screw up, they aren't perfect and that is why I am so drawn to her words. I like real. I like feeling that connection with the characters and my love for Wren was instant. I even wrote her a letter once I had finished reading.
Dear Wren, I feel you speak to me on a spiritual level. Your love of wine and pizza resonates somewhere deep within me. Your quirky and awkward is my brand of crazy. I loved reading about you and Tate - the hilarious and the sad, the highs and the lows. Your lack of filter is something I also lack in my life. For this reason you have been promoted straight to the top of my favourite book characters list. ——•———•——•———•—— This book was awesome. It was a quick easy read with a healthy dose of humour. It left me warmhearted and happy.
Hot Mess is a light, humorous read. As the story progressed, a strong connection developed between the characters, which added depth to the story.
I was quick to fall in love with Wren. Her quirky and fun personality drew me in. It took some time to warm to Tate. Yes, he had the looks and the body, but his attitude could use some adjustment. Once he sorted out his priorities, he became the perfect romantic hero.
I enjoyed reading Hot Mess, however, I felt the pace was slightly off and there were a few plot holes. Elements of the story were developed but didn't really carry through at the end of the story and the ending felt rushed to me. Side characters and their sub stories felt somewhat unresolved, but perhaps these stories will continue in future books. In saying this, I really enjoyed these characters and the story kept me interested.
Hot Mess is a fun read and I will seek out more books by this author.

I thought that Hot Mess was a fun and entertaining read and one that I really enjoyed reading. I’ve not read anything by this author previously so this books was great introduction to a new author. I liked the light heartedness to it; the book was really refreshing to read. The main character Wren was wonderful to read about, she was really relatable and I thought that the author write about her in a way that made her feel so realistic. I just loved Tate as well, his character was definitely entertaining and I could tell from the moment they met there would be sparks flying! I don’t often dislike characters but Rachel was so awful – but she made Wren even more appealing to Tate and that I loved!! Hot Mess is a fantastic rom com story that I really do recommend! It was a great read and I will definitely be looking forward to reading more form this author again in the future!
