Go read this book they said.
Even though you KNOW it doesn't have a happy ending and you'll have your entire heart and soul crying out in agony by the time you finish, you'll still enjoy it, they said.
A bunch of masochists all around, I tell you.

But this is by far the best book in the entire ruthless universe. Holy shit. I just can't even right now. Michelle and Andrey are now my top favorite couple (with Tongue and Daphne coming in a very close second) and I don't know how to go on without them.

Now go read this book so you will feel all my pain!

What a beautiful and heartbreaking story! From previous stories in the Ruthless world, we already know that Mercy is Daphne’s long lost father, and he had no idea she existed until recently. This story is very different from the others KL Savage have written. The majority of the story is set in 1994, when Mercy is on leave from the Navy for 10 weeks and falls in love with his childhood best friend.
This story is so well done, and it left me in tears. I’m looking forward to seeing Mercy and his daughter reconnecting in future books! I’m assuming it will happen in Tongue’s next book?

K.L. Savage will be the demise of me. This one is a tear jerker and my eyes are so tender and red.

I love how the story is written to draw your emotional connection to these people (characters is too wrong of a word). I have a new respect and appreciation for self-sacrifice and the power of a love that definitely earned its wings. I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

I fell in love with KL Savage's books long ago, but this just sealed the deal.
MERCY is a master stroke, one I couldn't put down the second I dove into it.
If you were concerned for this spin off, don't be. Your heart strings will be tugged, you'll feel ALL the emotions, and by the end, like I always find with a book by Savage, you'll need the next one in the series.
Five epic stars.

I love the whole Ruthless universe. I have read all the stories and the spin offs. These authors write some phenominal heroes. Ugggg. I wanted to love this book....I did. This is Mercy or Andrey's story. I just could not get behind all the feels the authors were pouring into it.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

Maybe it is because we know the story. We know from previous books that Daphne's mother was killed by her "father". We later find out that Mercy is actually her biological father. We have already seen what happens when this book opens. So even though the scenes were in Mercy's POV, they just didn't grab me. And maybe what I really wanted was for Mercy to heal.

Most of the book is flashback to the time when Mercy knew Michelle--Daphne's mom. I found myself skipping sections. The writing isn't bad--guys! I just could not get invested in Mercy's past. I think his story would have been served well to just be a few chapters as part of a bigger story. The redemption here will be if Mercy gets another book. Can he mend bridges with his daughter? Can he run this new MC? Can his heart be open for love again? THAT is what I want to know about Mercy.

Go ahead, read it since it is part of the series and the first book in this new Ruthless Underworld MC. Maybe you will have a different reaction from mine. Not my favorite of the bunch by far. It won't stop me from reading more!

I think this book made me realize something as a reader. I am always worried that the next book is going to be the same as the previous one. Seriously, how many ideas can an author have before they repeat? I then start to lose myself in the story, and I am like, well, this is different. That's exactly what happened with this book. I thought it was going to be one way, and it was completely the opposite. I liked it, but it's heartbreaking because if you've read Tongue's book, you know how this story is going to play out. Get the tissues ready. Ugly cry warning ahead!

Mercy has been floating around the Ruthless Kings world for awhile now. He first makes his appearance in Skirt by helping Dawn. In Thrasher, he's a business owner that lets Delilah work for a night. Finally, in Tongue's Target, we get a little of his backstory. He's Daphne's daddy.

Told through a flashback for much of the book, we finally get to watch Mercy's and Michelle's love story. They're hot and heavy from the first moment they realize that something has changed in their friendship. However, each challenge thrown at them is going to test their strength and resilience. Ultimately, they just don't have enough time with each other. It's a bittersweet end, leaving Mercy without the love of his life and with a daughter who doesn't know him. He also has to make sure his tongue doesn't disappear.

I love the Ruthless books, however this one just did not work for me. That isn't to say it wasn't well written, I just didn't connect with it. I enjoyed the beginning and the end but found myself skimming through the many chapters of flash back. I would have enjoyed a brief recount and then more on the life Mercy was trying to build. We knew he was Daphne's father, we read that in our adventures with Tongue and whilst it was good to have knowledge of how Daphne came to be and the tragedy surrounding her life, I don't think we needed the full verse.
As I've said this is not a bad book, many have loved it, it just didn't click for me.

Oh how I loved this book!! It was deep...it was sad, depressing. I know I'm not selling you on reading this one. I can only tell you that you need to read this. This is 98% of the past but it explains so much. I wish there was a restart button on life to let you go back in time and change one decision you made and have the life you always wanted. The worst thing about this story is everything was lost because of "looks can be deceiving"

Dark MC Romance ✔️
Long Lost Daughter✔️

This wasn’t as dark as I thought it would be, well I mean I read Pam Godwin and she’s my queen of Dark Romance so anything that isn’t her is soft (oops)👀👀

Mercy, aka Andrey finds out he has a daughter with his best friend/love of his life. However he finds out she is “happily” married and has moved on a couple years after he gets back from a dangerous life in the Navy Seal.

Michelle death was just UUGGHHH, AHHHH. like WHYYY. It’s my first time reading K.L Savage and I was hooked, and not because Eric Trhan was on the cover (mostly because he was on the cover) BUUTTTT I actually fell pretty hard for her writing and her spice, AND THE LOOVVEE 😭🥺😍

Michelle naming there daughter after his Mother, OH MY GAWWDDD, the 10 weeks they had together, OH MY GAWWDDD

The flashbacks after flashback when they have always loved each other, the darkness Michelle as had to overcome.

Mercy was a BIG surprise for me and am going to struggle on how amazing this book is. This book made me cry so much cause you know the ending !!😟

Okay I really recommend you read Tongue's Target first before this one and Tongue. So you get more of a understanding of his daughter Daphne. Who currently at the moment has no memory of anyone from the Ruthless Kings family she found. Like me you will pray that she will reach out to Mercy to talk to him about her mother Michelle. Who was amazing women which makes my heart bleed more....

This books is soooo hard not to spoil. Basically have a box of tissues and this story is so much more it's a lost love and hoping you child will return to you on their own. Waiting to he whole again...

☆MUST READ & FAV☆
This will be my all time favorite story cause it was a refreshing read & heartbreaking surprise. I can not wait for the audiobook !!

Omg!! This book had me completely broken. Daphne’s story continues in this new installment, but it mostly circled around Mercy. His backstory. His life. I feel so much for Andrey (Mercy). The amount of loss and longing this poor man is feeling… I just can’t. His life is one for the storybooks for sure. A tale of young love and heartbreak. I don’t want to say much more, I don’t want to give away one single second of this amazing book. Yes, it broke me. Yes, I shed many tears. Yes, true love is real. Yes, I’m completely satisfied.

This book is about pure love and sacrifice. Michelle and Mercy were best friends since they were kids but became lovers when Mercy came back from his first tour as a Navy Seal. In the 10 weeks he had on leave, they grew in their love for each other. Mercy had to return to the Navy and Brandon, his best friend, promised to look after Michelle until he returns to marry her. But because of a betrayal, Michelle had to sacrifice love to keep her and Mercy’s daughter safe. Mercy still has to tell his daughter who he is after he lost the love of his life. Bring out the tissues for this book. One of the best books I have read this year

So, there are a few rules to every K.L. Savage story:

1. These characters do not good things but are actually good people.
2. These authors can WRITE.
3. You WILL become invested, even if you know the majority of what happens.
4. These stories are 🔥.
5. And you will cry, scream, and maybe throw some things…but you will keep coming back because, well, rule #3.

I think I say this every time I review a Ruthless story, no matter the series, but these authors kill me every time. Mercy’s book is no exception. As in other reviews, we already know the general events of the story but there is so much more that Andrey has been holding onto for years. I love the connection he has to Daphne (Tongue and Daphne’s story is my favorite) and look forward to seeing more growth in their relationship through the spinoff to the Ruthless Hellhounds. All I can ask is, can we please get a story where Mercy gets a chance at happiness?

This is Mercy's story. The heartbreaking story of how he and Michelle met, how they fell in love and lost each other too soon.
In case you missed some books, Mercy is Daphne's real father, in this book we discover why he didn't know about her.
This novel is bittersweet from start to finish because they're perfect for each other but we already now how sadly it'll end. Reading the tormented story of their undying love is heartbreaking but necessary to truly understand Mercy, his past and Daphne's origins as well.

Placement

The story was cute but the order of which its placed is completely wrong. At this point in the series (when reading in the reading order) I'm not interested in reading about the past. Mercy's story should have been immediately after tongues book when we learn about the relation between him and Daphne.

Disappointing

This was mostly a flashback which made it a young live thing and not at all an MC book. It was sweet and sad but not at all riveting.

Mercy is mostly written in the past for those who aren’t the biggest fan of those type of books. It’s also a best friend to lover trope! And there’s no happily ever after.

I’m usually not a fan of books that are only written in the past as well and I almost didn’t read this because of the outcome of the book. I prefer happily ever afters rather than a relationship from the past that ends tragically.

Mercy takes place in New Orleans during the time Daphne has lost her memory, including the memory of Mercy telling her that he is her biological father. Mercy wants to find out why Michelle (Daphne’s mother) didn’t tell him about Daphne, so he goes to Daphne’s “dad’s" house to investigate and that is where he found an album of Daphne growing up and the album ended with an obituary of him. That’s when he found out that Michelle truly believed he was dead. And the flashback/past begins.

Andrey “Mercy" Machado (20) is home for 10 weeks after finishing Navy Seals training and the one thing he missed the most about New Orleans was his best friend Michelle Douglas (18) whom he’d known since the 8th grade. The dynamic in their friendship had changed. They were doing the same things as before such as holding hands, wrapping their arms around each other, and cheek kisses but everything began to feel a bit more intimate.

The first few chapters were cute but I’m not going to lie I got bored and almost DNF. After Andrey punched his best friend Brandon for walking in on Andrey & Michelle almost having sex and Brandon questioning them about protection and how Michelle’s too young, things just… I got bored with the story going on with Michelle’s dad trying to sell her to Heath for $500k and Heath hitting her. Even their sex scenes bore me a bit. And then her mom getting beaten to the point where she’s on life support/have no brain activity. It seems as though Ms. Savage is becoming a bit predictable and repetitive… I ended up skimming a good chunk of the second half of the book.

And I’m not going to lie, I’m a bit pissed he didn’t wake her up when he left for the Navy. What if they never saw each other again!!! (Which is actually what happened)

I’m happy Michelle at least tried telling Andrey she was pregnant through letters, but unfortunately they were all returned to her. It does break my heart that he was held as a prisoner of war and what happened to Brandon and Andrey’s parents.

Michelle and Andrey both didn’t deserve the tragedies that happened to them where they were left alone in the world in terrible situations.

Two quotes that stood out to me in the book, lol or well they were more like a premonition. The first one was from a fortune teller who read Andrey’s palms and the second was Andrey imagining what their daughter might be like. I can’t remember Daphne’s description, but she does love books!

“The Navy will be the reason you lose everything, and you’ll have to work hard to get a fraction of what you lost when you left her.”

“I think of us having a little girl with your big blue eyes and dark hair. She’ll love books.”

But speaking of Daphne, I thought it was incredible sweet of Michelle to name her after Andrey’s mom!!!

As mentioned it’s not a happily ever after story. The story ends with Mercy going back home and leaving Daphne and HEATH (her "dad") alone until him and Tongue can plot a way to kill Heath which I’m sure will happen in Tongue’s book. And I'm not sure Mercy will find love again after Michelle.
“My focus isn’t on falling in love but gaining love from my daughter. I’ve had the greatest love, and nothing can top that.”

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Warning: I will be mentioning some plot points revealed in earlier books in the Ruthless world.

Mercy is the love story of Michelle Douglas and Andrey Machado, Daphne's parents. We were introduced to Andrey a few books ago under his road name Mercy. He was working undercover for the FBI infiltrating the Hellhounds. After Mercy reveals himself to Daphne as her father she falls deep into her psychosis and returns to New Orleans. This is where this book takes place. However the majority of this story is Mercy going from memory to memory about the 10 weeks he spent with Michelle before he shipped out. This is when Andrey and Michelle finally surrender and reveal their love to one another.

Like others have mentioned, make sure you have a fresh box of tissues. This story will rip a whole in your heart. Knowing a little about Mercy's story from earlier I knew the story was a gut wrencher. Michelle and Andrey loved a lifetime in a short amount of time. K.L. Savage has started a new branch in the Ruthless world with Mercy and this is book one. Mercy becomes the Prez of the Ruthless Hellhounds.

This love story shows just how tender and caring of a man Mercy is. He is written so well you can't help but love him and hurt along with him. Michelle is brought to life wonderfully. I can see so much of Daphne in her mother. Brandon is the third wheel of the tricycle. He is best friends to Andrey and Michelle. He loves his friends so deeply and he earns a real place in mine. He is there when his friends need him and isn't afraid to get in their face with the truth.

If you know Mercy's story from earlier than you know the bones of this book. You do not know everything though. There are reveals/twists that left me saying "No Way!" The plot pulls you through hoping for a happy ending. Much as the emotions created by this story are fear and sadness. Mercy is worth it because it is about love, loyalty, hope, perseverance. It is about forever. It gives us a real glimpse into the man inside Mercy. I can't wait to see where Ruthless Hellhounds goes. With a Prez like Mercy the possibilities are endless.

4.25 stars— MERCY is the firs instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS HELLHOUNDS MC: Ruthless Underworld erotic, dark, MC romance series-another spin off from the author’s RUTHLESS KINGS MC. This is US Navy SEAL and Undercover FBI agent Andrey ‘Mercy’ Machado, and Michelle Douglas’ story line. Mercy was first introduced in Skirt.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Mercy and Michelle) MERCY is a prequel, of sorts, set twenty-five years in the past, that focuses on the relationship between best friends Andrey ‘Mercy’ Machado, and Michelle Douglas . Andrey, Brandon and Michelle had always been best friends for most of their lives but Andrey Machado was trained as a US Navy SEAL, and his next deployment was ten weeks away. Spending his final weeks in New Orleans, Louisiana with our story line heroine, Andrey would profess his love for a woman who never knew peace in the years that followed. Fast forward to present day, Andrey Machado, now known as Mercy, discovers that Michelle gave birth to his daughter twenty five years earlier, a young woman who now struggles with mental disorders in the wake of years of abuse at the hands of her step-father. With his beloved, his parents and his best friend Brandon dead, Mercy takes the reins of the RUTHLESS HELLHOUNDS MC, a position that places him in a position to take down the people that destroyed his life.

MERCY is a dark, gritty, and heart breaking prequel that reveals the love between Andrey and Michelle, and the life Michelle had desperately tried to escape. The premise is revealing, dramatic and intense; the characters are broken, desperate and lost; the romance is passionate, seductive and fated.

A fantastic beginning of this new series!

I have to say that I have been really curious about Mercy since he was introduced in the RKMC series, especially after learning about his connection with Daphne. This was a difficult story to read due to the heartbreaking tragedies that they all have lived through, the abuse that Michelle, her mother, and Daphne lived with most of their lives, the horrific tragedies that Mercy lived through, as well as finding out the truth after so many years. I know that his story is not complete just yet, and I really hope that he'll get his own HEA, not only in a partner, but with his daughter as well. I'm really looking forward to reading this awesome new series! It's a great addition to the Ruthless Underworld collection.
It seems that the Ruthless Underworld is going to consist of several different series, and I really can't wait for more! If you haven't already read the Ruthless Kings MC series, it's definitely where you need to start. A lot of characters (including Mercy) were introduced in that series, and they also played important roles in those stories. If you want to have a better understanding of the characters, their connections, the different clubs/groups/etc, and the dynamics between them, I would strongly recommend that you read the RKMC series prior to starting any of the newer ones. Don't worry, every book in the Ruthless Underworld collection is absolutely fantastic, and you're going to love them all!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.

Heartbreaking, Emotional, Endearing, Outstanding Romance are just a few things that come to my mind as I try to write this review. This is a Must Read romance in my humble opinion that is phenomenally written with an awesome storyline. Please do not think it’s not worth the read when I say it nearly broke my heart in two. It’s a love story that should have been one for the ages but it goes terribly wrong, not only for Andrey and Michelle but for their daughter Daphne (Tongue’s Ol Lady). A daughter/father neither knew about for years, causing nothing but hurt and heartbreak for all.

This is Andrey’s (Mercy’s) Story. It takes the reader back to a time right before Andrey shipped off to war. The storyline walks us through Mercy’s life from then to now, including his FBI stint undercover in a MC . A life that is full of pain and hurt and the only thing he has left is his need for a club/brotherhood and his daughter. A Daughter dealing with her own psychosis issues, a daughter that doesn’t know him and isn’t sure she ever wants him in her life. But giving up on his family isn’t something Mercy can or wants to do. Maybe for now, but in the long run… No way.

The book is full of pain and heartbreak yet also hope and love. It left this reader extremely anxious to see just what happens next with Mercy and the Ruthless Hellhounds MC. Since I can only give the book 5 stars (it’s worth so much more), I’ll simply say…...

2 Thumbs Up and 5++ Stars

Mercy tells the story of the love between Andrey ‘Mercy’ Machado and Michelle Douglas. We know of them from previous books, but this is the first in the Ruthless Hellhounds MC and tells us Mercy's heartbreaking story. It's almost entirely set in the past, showing us the events that took place twenty-five years ago that have made him who he is today. This is emotional, gritty, and heartbreaking.

The writing and story are really good, but I went into this one blind not realizing what it would be and to be honest this isn't my kind of story. I like twisted, angsty reads where things seem hopeless at some point and it appears as though things couldn't possibly work out well for the characters, but at the end I need the Happily Ever After (HEA), which is what Romance is all about for me. I'm not a fan of prequels or getting backstories, I prefer to have that information within the framework of the larger romance with the HEA at the end. Probably this would have had a lower rating, but K.L. Savage is talented and that shines through in the writing. However, readers need to understand that this is a prequel with a tragically fated love story, but in reading this you get good insight into an important character within the Ruthless world.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy and have voluntarily left an honest review.

OMG , K.L Savage has truly gone and done it again .my heart was completely ripped to shreds . Mercy is jam packed with all the feels . One of the things I loved best about this book , is the back history we get of Andrey -aka Mercy and Michelle . This was such a intense and emotional read . Without saying to much , everything ties into the Ruthless world . There are so many connections . As you read you get many glimpses of what mercy’s life was like as well as all his memories that lead up to him falling in love . You will find out what his connection to Daphnie is . My things will finally fall into place like 2 pieces of a puzzle . There many things referenced that interconnect with the ruthless kings . This book truly has it all , rawness , intense moments grief , loss , heartbreak, and so many more emotions. I was wrecked , there were so many moments I would find my self balling my eye out, and others I just to take a break to gather myself again . Mercy and Michelle’s love story was so beautiful, it clearly shows how deep their love was , as well as how their love was able to withstand so many obstacles that got in their way . This is a book that needs to be experienced to truly appreciate how phenomenal it is .
