For years I’ve run. When I finally listened to my mother's last words to go to her hometown, I never planned on staying. I hadn’t survived this long by being foolish. I had rules for a reason. Never stay in one place too long. No friends or attachments.
Only, I never expected to meet him. Ice, as cold as his name until he looked at me. Those ice blue eyes would burn across my skin. I broke my own rules. I stayed too long. Made friends. And fell in love with the Red Horsemen’s VP Now, my past has caught up with me. I have nowhere else to run….
Ice
They call me Ice for a reason. I’m as cold as my name. The sins of my past haunt me. Until she walks into my life. Thawing me with one look. I fight everything she makes me feel Why? Because I can never be the man she deserves. Only Rae kept a dark secret.
Can I save her or will I lose her forever?
WARNING: Adult content. Explicit sexual content and violence. This a dark romance don't expect a fairy tale. This is part one and ends in a cliffhanger.
Raven loves writing dark romance wrapped in suspense. She loves finding the beauty in pain, love in tragedy. And of course, writing those hot scenes.
Raven describes her books as darkness mixed with blood-stained passion.
She is fluent in sarcasm and adult language.
If you can't find Raven in her writing cave or editing hell, then you will find her curled up with a book lost in the words of other authors. She has three daughters and one man child-all who she adores. She comes from a large Welsh family who is completely crazy in all the right ways.
You can find Raven on Facebook and Instagram, or hanging out in her FB group Raven's Rebels.
DNF. Excessive use of derogatory words towards all women. Weird references to the h as a “female” and himself as a “male”. And here’s the quote that was the nail in his literary coffin- [Rubbing my cheek against her, my lips grazing her jaw line, I suck in her earlobe making her shiver and whisper, “Ah, so you’re pissed. Your mom was a cum bucket, nothing more than a fucking nameless snatch … A fucking whore. You like it dirty like your mamma, Kitten.” My fingers tighten as she tries to pull away. “’Cause I’ve got a whole club full of fucking boys that are dying to chuck their muck up you and forget by morning.”]. Charming.🙄
Y'all, I tried. I really did. I've been trying to open up to more MC series since I'm absolutely obsessed with one of them, but this book right here is why they usually aren't my jam. I'll admit, all the amazing reviews got to me, so I couldn't wait to read it.. But I only made it to 17%, and most of that was spent with calling women truly degrading names. Like apparently bitch in the tattoo world means woman (And not degrading? Sure.) And my other favorite term: snatches. Yep. Our hero refers to other women as snatches, so obviously I'm head over heels in love with him!!
It could just because I'm in a bad mood and can't seem to find a good book lately, but I am so over the double standard hypocrisy when if comes to women & their sexuality, especially in MC books.
Oh, and on one page be calls the club sluts (which is bad enough) cum buckets. My god. I just can't. I don't mind an anti hero, but don't use women to get off and then degrade them for it. It's 2021. Women like sex. We crave sex just as much as men. But it can be done without all the shaming.
**I'm in no way trying to be mean to the author, because Rae sounded like such an interesting character, but I just couldn't get past all the blatant hypocrisy from the hero.
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions.**
Captured by Raven Amor Rae has been on the run for plus-minus 4 years, she finally arrives at her mother’s hometown and takes on a job as a tattooist. Ice was born into the MC world but his soul has been tainted and his hands covered in blood, making him a brutal man, who believes he is not worthy of being loved. When a sexy vixen catches his attention all he wants, is to be with her, but he knows he can’t promise her a life, that would be the white picket fence and blooming roses. But he also can’t stay away, so he will take what she offers, but he will never agree to give her more in return. Rae for the first time feels like she belongs to a family until she overhears Ice and realizes it is time to run. But just when it becomes crystal clear, Rae’s past catches up with her, and the truth is finally revealed, making Ice recognize what is truly at stake. So for me personally, this story was a bit predictable and I had a few issues with the plotline. First of all, the main characters only really meet and connect well over the 50% mark. Their conversation is pretty limited until around the 70% mark. By then I had already realized how this was all going to play out. My main problem was the continued derogative terms for the woman, yes it is an MC, but this was just over the top. Further to this, the author got stuck telling us what the MC terms and endearments meant, making Rae seem stupid. Now, most of the readers will know all this already being MC readers, so it becomes pretty boring when it is on repeat continuously. I also did not feel the connection between the main characters; even the smexy moments felt disjointed. The characters were in their own internal monologue for most of the time, which did not move the story along. If anything it becomes mundane and a tad tiring. At the 92% mark when Bolt enters the story, it all plays out, but it is all tell and no show. The writing is not bad, it is the execution of the story and filler, that makes you lose interest. I read and struggled through it. The plot had huge potential and could have been great, but the long drawn out and way too much filler just killed it. If only the author had used who she was running from to show more story and rising climax/drama, it would have been far more entertaining, rather than getting stuck in the internal drivel about how bad Ice was for Rae, or how Rae only stayed for a few weeks. The out of town runs, did little to move the story along, as well as the presumed thought of something being off. So for me personally this one was an okay read and I know I am in the minority here with fellow readers. For me, I needed more interaction between the characters, I needed to feel their emotions; I needed the characters to develop, to actually show jealousy and not just headspace. It is a fine balance, but I also needed more drama, for the plot to evolve. The main person who was the evil villain needed to show his face, and we needed to see what actually happened in the past. The comment “Show don’t tell” becomes important here, because this was all told with very little show. So overall this MC read was just an average read for me personally.
This book is so cringe worthy in so many aspects I don't even know what to make of it.
Rae’s seemed a really interesting character at first and I was curious to know more about her past. I thought the read would be DEEP, with lots of raw emotions. But then we meet Ace and things got SO-RIDICULOUS!
That first scene at the tattoo parlor when they finally “met”? My God, that guy’s the prez of a MC? REALLY? Lol he literally, out of nowhere used Rae’s MOTHER to insult her, but he didn’t knew Rae nor did he knew her mother. I felt like he used “yo mama’s joke” to mess with Rae lol I just laughed out loud and not because it was funny. He’s like 6, 7 years old, tops!
And all his dirty talk in bed? My God I laughed my way thought those scenes lol seriously, he sucked hairy balls. At times I wondered if It wasn't some PR read because he used so many "male" and "female" references LOL
Ohhh and the potty mouth lol seriously, I felt like he was just a little naughty boy cussing. There’s SO MANY “Fucking” and exclamations points in the sentences that at times it didn’t even made sense. Cussing lost It’s satisfying effect, FAST.
But for some unknown reason I finished it and yeah… It got suckier lol So nop, just no. Not recommending it!
This was a fantastic read that ticked all my boxes ! Dark MC romance ✔️ Sassy sexy FC ✔️ Sexy tattooed alpha hole MC ✔️ Steamy AF sex scenes ✔️ This was my first read by this author and let me tell you I loved it ! I read this book in one night I stayed up until 4 in the morning reading it from first page till last ! Loved the characters loved the plot twist I didn’t see it coming! The writing is raw dark and gritty this story is full of secrets and angst this was such an addicting story and I can’t wait for more Ice and Rae !
Raven Amor is one of my favourite new authors!! This my third book by Raven, and the writing just gets better every time!
Rae and Ice came across as the perfect enemies to lovers, the best biker and most natural Ol' Lady I've seen in a while, the push & pull was arresting!
The camaraderie of Ice and his young brothers, "the brothers among the brotherhood" is fierce, tender, and heart-wrenching to read from moment one. Each of them have had such pain, but it allows for such great side characters, I'm just waiting to see who's first up to have his world ransacked by Raven Amor after Ice, lol!
Rae and Red's relationship is beautiful, I love such fierce lady friendships, and I think they will make amazing Queens in this series!
4.5 stars for Captured, I cannot WAIT for the next one!!
I always love starting out a new year with this author. Her books are always dark, raw and gritty with no holds barred, and this one was no different. What a fantastic way to start a new series. With lovable, sassy characters and a plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat, and your heart in your throat, you won't be able to look away. I did not see that twist coming until it was slapping me in the face. Definitely recommend and I can't wait to see what's in store for them next. A war is brewing so load up your weapons and batten down the hatches while waiting for book 2.
I’ve become too familiar with the dark, and it has become my friend, my solace and protector.
Never turn back and keep on the move. No connections and swift exit always in place. Keep looking over your shoulder and sleep with one eye open.
If your guard falls...then this could be not only your biggest mistake...and your worst nightmare.
Trapped. Broken. Pray for the one who haunts you.
She would not break the same way Arya would have. She wouldn’t be weak. Rae is a mask I wear to keep the world out.
From one tattoo parlour to the next, Rae has a high skill set and with her unique talented flare, Rae is quick to find her next shop with a list full of clients. But, Rae is not traveling by choice...but as a means of survival.
Growing up Rae has always known her place, has been taught to act as a young lady should and dressed accordingly to impress.
Caged, chained and broken...Rae refuses to fall any deeper into her darkened fate that now awaits her and escapes, knowing that her past will chase her to the end of earth to drag her home.
“I want my sun back. I don’t want to be in the darkness anymore. It’s cold and lonely.”
With her mothers voice guiding her, Rae finds herself in a new town, with a job doing what she loves and promising to herself this will do for a few weeks before she has to leave again. There’s something different about this place though, Rae can feel herself coming alive again and when a thunderous growl of a motorbikes interrupts her day, Rae’s eyes narrow at the man that enters with others that swam the shop.
Not one for showing her fear-a tactic she is already a master at, Rae doesn’t know or care who this huge man is in front of her. However, Rae can feel the power that is rippling off him that sends shivers down her spine and tries hard not to wet her lips as she takes in Ice the VP of the Red Horsemen MC.
The connection is made...now hop over and be ready for the ride of your life as this is no easy ride...you're about to be taken by the coldest, devilish male that you’ve ever had the misfortune to fall on your knees for!
There isn’t enough holy water to save my soul. No, I’m the darkest myth brought to reality. The devil himself.
Ice...as cold and unforgiving as his name, Ice will leave you bleeding...if he doesn’t kill you that is.
Growing up in his father’s MC has high expectations and means nothing if you don’t have the respect of those around you. Ice was never spoon fed, he fought to be where he is now and proved himself, maybe more than others that he was worthy of the leather cut that smeared with blood.
I am this life. It flows through my veins; it’s a part of my DNA and not because of my father, but because this is me. You cut me open, and I bleed oil.
Riding on the open road with his brothers surrounding him, Ice revels in feeling the power that the Red Horsemen infuses and the fear in the scumbags eyes that dare to cross his family. With every hit, bones snapping and blood that flows, Ice is consumed feeding his demon.
And when that isn’t enough? Well, being the club VP does has its perks with the club bunnies spreading their legs or down on their knees waiting and with a glass in his hand, Ice can escape and quench his thirst until he is called to hit the road again.
However, coming toe to toe with one feisty, red lipped female with an attitude that makes it clear straight away that she couldn’t care less who he is has Ice momentarily off balanced and growling all at once wanting to bend her Ice’s will.
Who is this woman that thinks to defy him and send unfamiliar feelings shooting around his bloodstream?
Ice can see past the cracks, the mask that she holds-no clings to...but this woman is also able to see past his mask.
He is going to consume me until I am entirely owned by him. Hooked on him and unable to escape.
Rae & Ice…<3 Well hell! I was not expecting this...I don’t even think I was ready for this!
Both of these characters will consume you with every page and you feel their connection.
Rae is a strong female lead character, I loved her attitude and felt her fear that becomes evident. You may be able to pull together the past and life that Rae is terrified and running from, but still you’re biting your nails with each choice made and able to understand her actions towards Ice. How and why Rae allows her walls to drop for those around her, Rae finds a new family without asking for one and opens up...yet keeps her past unwraps.
Rae sees past Ice cold hard exterior, even if she refuses to let herself bow to Ice’s needs...Rae can’t stop wanting Ice. To feel him take her and not giving a fuck...just anything to feed craving they both feel when they are near each other.
The same fingers that brought her fucking pleasure had ended more than one life and would end many more.
Ice may be cold as his name...but will leave you hot all over!
Ice is no prince charming and if you want a charming, easy flutter of love...Ice is not the bookboyfriend for you. Ice only knows his life in the MC and sending flowers, dinner dates and peck on lips...yeah this book is nothing like that. Dark, damaged and wickedly good...Ice is one of kind and holds his own in the MC world that we love to read.
Feelings that Ice has never felt before entrap him and leave him questioning if Rae could be the woman to bring his demon to heel. But, can he allow himself to shed everything and open that door and invite Rae into his mind...body and soul?
I would protect her from anything...including her greatest ruin; me.
Wow...Oh my gosh! I completely fell for this story! I wanted gritty, I wanted dark and I wanted sexy as hell….I got all three and so much more!
I was recommended this story and I never looked back. I loved reading this! The intensity was high and compelling, each of the characters have demons of their own, chasing and lying in wait for them. I loved how Raven Amor held nothing back, I could see that she didn’t shy away from writing, it was true to form and the style that this story is and held the edge throughout.
Your mind will spin and pull the outlines together but even when the bombs are dropped, you can still feel your hair rising and hold your breath for what is to come. Because yes, this is a cliffhanger and will have you reaching for the next book...well as soon as you’ve collected and braced yourself that is.
We will die as we lived; in violence covered and in blood.
Finally an mc book thats not written like a goddamn mills n boon!
This book is awesome! It's edgy, it's dark, it's angsty, it's dirty and it's perfect mc!
Yes they're crude rude n vulgar it's a fucking 1% mc for Christs sakes.
The mc characters are brilliant, the tension n drama is slow building and perfect.
And as for the criticism about how they speak about women? What snowflakes it's a goddamn mc book!!! If you want smaltzy cheesy romance read a mills n boon ffs.
It is so hard to find an edgy mc biker book atm, mostly it's boring formulaic decidedly below par crap. This is not that.
If like me you are sick of reading that crap you will love this.
Awesome biker book n I should know I literally read hundreds of these a year, its my fav genre.
Bikers are meant to be bad, dirty, and foul mouthed. They're meant to fuck club whores n be bastards. Thats why we love em!!!
"Now, all I see is darkness and pain. Beauty is just a hallucination."
I loved this book. Loved. Loved. Loved it! I can't recommend this highly enough. Ravens writing style is so refreshing, easy to read, I was immersed by the first page "There isn’t enough holy water to save my soul. No, I’m the darkest myth brought to reality. The devil himself." Ice's mind is incredible, when you read books about men with broken minds and volatile temperaments, you don't tend to see that actually reflected in their pov. When you read their thoughts there is an odd curse word thrown in to show aggression, but you don't necessarily feel it. The same with the very well known phrase "...and everything turns red..." It's not the case with Captured, you genuinely feel the anger and the hostility in Ice's behaviour with every sentence. You feel the rage in Ice's attitude, and the swearing isn't for an effect, it comes across as real frustration, like many people feel.
Rae, is a character that I could probably writing endlessly about. Her sense of style, attitude & ability to stand toe to toe with the Red Horseman MC, is mesmerising. Her mind was raw and painful to read, the complexity of her story is breathtaking.
The whole way through this book, you see realism, I've found that some storyline are fluffed for fairytale effect. This certainly isn't... Well there is this one part with the shiny floors but I guess stress makes some people do crazy stuff... If you know, you know. Or you'll see 😉
The way it ends had me verbally shouting Nooo, I'm still sulking a little.
There is so many characters I want to speak about but I need to leave some surprises for you.
I just devoured this book and already counting down to March for Claimed.
Genre: Dark, Biker/MC Romance Series Type: Series Book Length: Shorter Novel POV: Alternating Dual Setting: Arizona Male MC: Ice is the VP of the Red Horsemen MC. He is cold, brutal and struggles with a violent past that has shaped him into the man he is today. Ice is 30 and has black hair, a dark trimmed goatee, and icy blue eyes. Female MC: Rae is a tattoo artist and is on the run from a dangerous and painful past. She is 19 and has a voluptuous pin-up girl vibe with dark hair and navy blue/violet-colored eyes that change with her emotions. Endearment: Kitten Spice Level: Medium Frequency of Spice: Low/Medium Angst Level: Medium Cliffhanger: Yes Epilogue: No My Review: I really enjoyed this book; it was sexy and fast-paced with some mystery surrounding Rae’s past and the danger she is in. I liked the tension and chemistry between her and Ice, however. I wanted more scenes of them together. What we got was super tantalizing but it took a while to get going. I’m hoping to learn more about them in the next book and I’m excited to see where their journey leads.
Sorry but this just reinforced why I like mafia over mc.
I didn't like the main characters. Couldn't stand Ice. He was supposed to be a broken hero but just acted like major prick & he was so childish. I didn't know if I was dealing with a man or a child trying to act like one. Every chapter of his pov got on my nerves. Rae was meh. With a mask of a "badass" but a broken girl inside. I liked her way more than Ice though.
I didn't feel any chemistry between the two. It was bland af. And out of nowhere they apparently love each other. It was just one of those, they saw each other across the dinner & apparently just clicked & needed to get in each other's pants. Super cliche & again meh. I felt like there was more chemistry between Rae & any of the other guys.
I did, however, love the side characters. Cas, Storm, Sketch etc. My absolute fav was Rev.
I could have liked it more bc I like the story line but Ice really ruined everything for me. What an childish & immature piece of shit
Rae and Ice take you on a dark, very emotional, twisted, steamy read that will make you pulse pound and your heart race. Each page pulls you right in and takes you on a ride you won't expect and will leave you wanting more. From beginning to end I had my feelings pulled, my heart broken and had a few tears by the end. My head was spinning and was left in a daze and can't wait for the next to see what happens. An amazing read that will keep ke coming back for more.
WTF did I just read?! That cliffhanger? I love MC and mafia books, but this one was unique and so much more! I love this world and these dark characters! Watching all the pieces come together, with strange things not adding up for the club, and knowing Rae was more than what she seemed to be. Ice keeps battling himself over what he feels for Rae. AND then that ending...I’m dead! I loved this book!! Can’t wait to see what happens next!
I’m speechless and that’s rare. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I have no clue what to say.
I absolutely loved this book.
I immediately fell in love with Rae, it took me a little while before I started to like Ice but the author was able to show character growth throughout the book.
I need to go download the next book in this series cause I need to know what happens next.
This book had flashes of greatness, a book with great characters, set up and back story. BUT it falls short in most areas. You can see it poking through and your like just carry on with this, but then it dips and you can really tell. The writing dips the most in certain areas which makes it hard.
So all in all I don't really know how to feel about this book. Its kinda like a very extremely rough gem.
Rae and Ice are so steamy when the come together in the MC thriller. Rea is a fierce female who thinks she is playing strong when she really is. She has demons and secrets but so do the guys of the Red Horsemen MC. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you hooked on Rea’s story.
Skimmed it. Not worth my time. The subjects mentioned were horrible, I hated the concept of women being owned no matter the protection or love. Them being treated like cleaning ladies I mean wtf. I hate the dramatic and the over the top characters. Like I get it, he’s an alpha male. No need to repeat it. The plot was just boring and annoying by how the girl clung to the dude. Have some dignity
This is a new to me author that pleasantly surprised me. I have a hard time finding new MC authors but this author will be one I watch.
This book had strong characters and a very interesting storyline. I was invested enough in the book that I wanted to know Rae's secrets. I'm looking forward to seeing how the author concludes Rae and Ices story. Off-topic, great cover.
I haven't read anything else from this author and I have no plans to after reading this. Amor could definitely do with some character and plot development workshops. The random character backstories thrown in were so confusing and I felt like I was having 20 years of plot development shoved down my throat mixed with the word "fucking" thrown in every sentence. Like seriously I counted and in three paragraphs the word "fucking" was used 14 TIMES and it wasn't even a spicy scene just an internal monologue.
The way that these characters were written felt inauthentic and lacked any substance. I think that this is another case of an inexperienced author writing their fantasies that they have never even come close to experiencing in person. Like it actually makes me wonder if they've ever even spoken to a man before with the way they wrote that inner monologue. Seriously cringe and I hope for their sake they've improved.
WOW what a phenomenal 1st book in the Redhorsemen MC Duet. The author gave us an outstanding storyline full of action, suspense, romance, secrets, and MC drama. The characters grabbed a hold of me and wormed their way into my heart. I literally couldn’t put my ereader down as I had to know what was going to happen next. The storyline delved into the characters to the point I had to know more. What made Ice the hard nosed, stone cold man he is? Why is Rae on the run and what events made her into the strong independent woman she is way before she should have? And holy cow the attraction between these two is gripping. They fight it but can that kind of attraction ever be denied?
The storyline has twists you won’t see coming. It has surprises you’ll suspect but are you right. I can’t even begin to tell you what an amazing job I felt the author did with this book and after the way it ended… I am anxiously awaiting book 2 of the duet.
If you like dark MC Romances with lots of twist, turns and action, I highly recommend grabbing up Captured, Book 1 of the Redhorsemen MC Duet - You won’t regret it.
Ok, where’s the second book?? You can’t leave me hanging like that! Not the type of book I usually read but I really enjoyed it. I liked that Rae wasn’t a pushover, she held her own and the fact she was a tattooist, loved it! Would love to know more of the back stories of the guys in the club, think there’s room for a lot more books there! Will definitely be reading the next one.
I just finished Captured and wow, mind is blown! This was my first book by her and it totally won't be the last.
If you love MC, romance, age gap, this book if for you!
In Captured you meet Ice, the bada** alpha with a messy history. Rae, the mysterious tattoo artist with a smart-mouth.
They are pulled towards each other but fighting against it till they can't anymore. Than a bombshell is thrown into the mix! I was on the edge of my seat through the whole book!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
I was really looking forward to this book because I haven't read many MC romances recently and they are by far my favorite trope next to age gap. BADA BING BADA BOOM this just happened to be both age gap and MC. so i was DEF excited.
Pros: I really liked the premise. I was really into the fact that Rae (h) was this tattoo artist who had a pinup style and wasn't taking shit from the guys. she really seemed to fit in and i loved that. I love when an outsider comes in and fits in with everyone. She was becoming close to people when that usually wasnt her style because of her being a runaway. Rae was def an interesting character. She had a lot going on in her life it seemed and i liked how her story unfolded.
Now...lets get into what i didnt like.
- Although i liked Rae... I didn't like Ice. The writing style for him was too much. I like the word fuck as much as the next person but MY GOD. I searched the word "fuck" and there were 1000+ hits. That's not included in the MANY variations of fuck..motherfucker.fucking. motherfucking fuck. i mean it was a lot. In one page i counted 10 different ways the author used fuck. If you're thinking "Ashley, what's the issue?" I know....I know..I love "fuck" too, dude. But it was OVERKILL. It was so distracting. Pick a new word for the love!
-I didn't like the fact they legit didn't officially meet each other until like 32% of the book. Then we didn't get barely any steam until 72%. The pace of the book was just off. It felt like Rae should've just gotten with the dude at the tattoo shop. I mean shit she had a better connection with him.
-The scenes we did have with Ice and Rae he just acted like a dick, then would feel bad, come back and apologize. I like groveling as much as the next but there wasn't a connection between then for me to be like "oh he's just a possessive dick".
Okay, so i said what i said right? Well with the cliffhanger she gave us I'm curious to see what happens next. I did shed a few tears at the end.. so at least there's that! This wasn't a bad book. It had ALOT of potential and i feel like if certain things had been fixed here and there i wouldve really enjoyed myself. So we'll see if I pick up book 2.
