    Oh my gosh!!! My heart, my poor poor heart has gone through the ringer. I was mad, I was happy, I was sad and don’t get me started on the chemistry between Leo and Jill, jeez they had a *cough* active *cough* sex life.

    R.C Martin writes a steamy, heart wrenching read that leaves you grappling for your emotions. And don’t get me started on the last page which will guarantee to leave you begging for more!

    The cover drew me in, and on paper this would be my mind of book, but I struggled with it and couldn't finish. I don't know whether it was the author's style of writing or the fact that imo it would have been better if it was heroine POV only... I really don't know, but it was a hard slog to read as many chapters as I did.

    I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

    ‘Guarded’ isn’t the first book that I read from R.C. Martin (I have read a few books of the ‘Made for love’ series and I liked them very much.) but ‘Guarded’ is totally different than the previous books that I read from this writer! This story was very, very hot and I liked it very much.
    Leo was definitely an alpha man and he liked to be one in the bedroom too. The story had some serious hot sex scenes in it. Leo certainly knew how to treat a bad girl in the bedroom but sometimes even a good girl likes some spanking too.

    When I started this book I didn’t know what to expect but I trusted his writer to give me a good story and she certainly did. ‘Guarded’ is the story about Leo and Jill. Leo is the bodyguard of the famous singer Ashley and Jill is the best friend of Corie, Ashley’s girlfriend/fiancé.

    Leo and Jill meet each other when Jill spends a weekend with Corie and Ashley for Corie’s birthday. There’s an instant chemistry between Leo and Jill and it doesn’t take long for them to act on their longing for each other but they both also think that it’s better to just see it as a fling for that weekend. Because of Leo’s job and the fact that Jill lives so far away.
    But both find it difficult to let each other go after that weekend so they stay in contact through messages and phone calls. The long distance makes it hard on them but if both are willing, love can overcome it all. Can’t it? But that’s a tough one for Leo because he isn’t used to love or having someone at his back. He’s quiet, closed off and has a lot of anger in him. He doesn’t let anyone into his heart but if he wants a chance with Jill he will have to find a way to let the anger go and to open his heart to her. Can he do it in time? Or will he be too late and hurt her too deeply to ever forgive him?

    One of the things that I loved about this story is how Jill fought for Leo and their relationship. No matter how hard Leo fought her and his feelings for her, she kept believing in him, in them. In most stories the man fight for the woman, here it’s the other way around and I found it very refreshing.

    Leo was very intense, very quiet and but also very loyal. Deep down he was a lonely man who lived for his job (protecting someone he respected and who he considered a friend). I was very happy for him that he found Jill to love him and take care of him. Jill is a sweet woman with a good heart. I can understand why Leo felt for her.

    The story was told in both POV’s. The story is very different than the ‘Made for love’ series, it’s more steamier and sexy. So be prepared!

    Leo and Jill's story gave me so much life! I could not get over how sexy and hot this story was. Both characters were extremely likeable and did not get on my nerves once. I for sure going to read more by this author, this is my first time reading her books and let me tell you it will not be the last.

    What a great book! It had a great story line that flowed well. Guarded has so much angst and sex; OMG, those sex scenes were WOW! You may need a cold shower.
    The attraction was there from the very beginning for Leo and Jill. Jill was a sweet, innocent, loving woman and when she met Leo that drive came alive. Leo was a hot, domineering man that would take care of what was “his”. All the while he kept to himself because of his past. Will he be able to move forward or will he lose Jill?

    This is my first read by R.C. Martin and will not be my last. I will be one clicking when I am done with this review. If you love a hot and steamy book, go one click! You won’t be disappointed.

    One word for this book and that is WOW. It had me gripped from start to finish.

    Leo is a hot alpha male and oh boy is he sex on legs. Jill is sweet, kind and just the perfect main lady of the story.

    Leo and Jill meet when Jill meets up with her best friend/cousin Corie, who is seeing famous singer Ashley. When Leo who is Ashley's body guard/secruity is sent to pick up Jill the chemistry and attraction is instant.

    When these two get together oh my days the sex is off the scale hot and some of the best sex scenes I've read in a long time. Leo is very guarded about his past, and Jill is trying not to get too close.

    The story of how these two open up is brilliant and is a very well written story. Will Leo ever let Jill in? Will Leo and Jill get their happy ending?

    All in all its a cracker of a book and can't wait to read the next book in the series coming in 2018 and serious couldn't come quick enough cause I need more Leo and Jill in my life again.

    R.C. Martin has delivered a novel that is off the charts sexy!! I knew going in that this book would be steamy but I was really pleasantly shocked at how steamy of a read it is.

    Leo is by far one of the most alpha men I've ever read. He's such a strong and gorgeous guy but he's really never known true love in his life. In walks Jill and she has seriously thrown him off his game. He has no idea how to deal with her or his feelings.

    Jill is one of my favorite heroines. She is the definition of loyal. When she loves she loves you with your faults and all. She is determined to show Leo that true love is possible.

    The chemistry between these two is so strong and the sex scenes will have you blushing. R.C. is an author that will always deliver a novel with strong writing and a story that has depth.

    I read this book back in 2018 and I needed a recap so here I am leaving my review.

    Okay, where do I start and how?

    The storyline and the flow of the story is actually good, Leo is not your typical alpha, he is dark and he has flaws that you can never imagine, at one time I thought okay he’s going to be this super alpha that’ll make me want to b!*ch slap him and if tbh he was an @$$ to Jill. I love her I think she’s sweet but she’s this kind hearted character that although Leo was being an @$$ he was worth fighting for and girl when I say that she deserves Leo, she sure does 😉.

    Ugh Leo is a dark horse that makes me all giddy and tingly 😅. I couldn’t not put this book down, he’s a mystery that I didn’t expect with that cliffhanger but boy book 2 is another recap.

    Leo was a bit of an alphahole, but we find there’s a reason for it. True to life, most people holding on to past hurts tend to express that hurt in ways that appear to be other things, such as anger, apathy, etc. Jill was just what Leo needed to get out of his self-imposed shell, along with the help of Corie and Ashley. Fantastic character growth and spicy 🌶 scenes with teeth. Meowwww!
