Vandal (Ashes & Embers Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 3,452 ratings

Carian Cole brings you a twisty, sexy, emotional journey of trust, love, and healing.

She takes my breath away.

She’s so beautifully damaged.
A mirror of my own tortured soul.

I was powerless to stay away from her.

I was responsible for all the pain and grief that brought her to her knees in front of me.

Broken. Hopeless. Reckless in her agony.

But what I took away I can give back…in ways she cannot even begin to imagine.
Ways that I can’t stop thinking about.

Together we spun a tangled web of lust and need. Power and submission. And dare I say... trust and love.

We’re everything right in all our wrongs.

We found redemption. We found happiness. A chance for a new beginning.

But... she has no idea I’m the one who destroyed her life.

    MY REVIEW
I loved Storm it was edgy and humorous with some great characters, some of those characters join us in this next book in the Ashes & Embers series.
The Prologue to this book broke my heart.
I could literally feel Vandals pain seeping off the pages throughout this book, i wanted to reach out and hug him so hard.
This story has ugly parts, it has painful and gut-wrenching chapters, two individuals tied together, who are united by one twisted and devastating tragedy.
Two broken people devastated by the same event, lives destroyed, but some how they find they can be each others saviour, to find the light again after so much darkness.
I dont want to give any of the story away i will just say that this is a must read, a hauntingly beautiful plot that ripped my heart to shreds at times.
From reading the lighter hearted story that was Storm to this angsty heart breaker, Carian Cole has excelled herself with this book, i had not expected this story to go how it did and i cannot wait to read the next book in this wonderful series.

Something about me....I am dead inside but the 1st few chapters of Vandal made me have a lump in my throat and caused me a few stray tears...that never happens to me...Carian is 1 hell of a writer!!

After a tragic event, Vandal is at rock bottom when he hatches his plan...I think 1 of my comments to Carian was how I thought what a sick dude Vandal was...he may be sick but OMFG he does it in the best way that had me loving him! Tabi, so beautifully broken....can they mend each other?? You will need to find out! You will also meet Sterling...I want him! Storm, Evie and the other band members pop up to so you wont be disappointed!

This book has sex, lots of gritty dirty sex...I loved it (and needed a towel to sit on!!) Its also a heart warming story that keeps you on the edge of your seat guessing!

I loved Storm so much and Vandal is just so deliciously different...its a fantastic read!

The end/epilogue shocked the crap out of me, its one of those OH.MY.GOD. moments!!!

Carian has done it again - such a brilliant book!

I can't see why some oeople make so much fuss about this book. Yes it touches lightly on BDSM but it's like a touch of a feather. So all those problems with control didn't bother me. I honestly (after reading reviews) expected almost some form of torture.
But the book itself wasn't stron enough for me and the revelation from the epologue didn't make sense at all. I knew about it beforehand and was looking for some subtle sighns but there were none. So it was just stuck there to stirr the pot. Cheap trick. I will read further but with waining ethusiasm.

I wasn't sure about re-reading Vandals story because I remember how much it affected me the first time I read it a few years ago. I admit it didn't hurt as much as the first time as I knew what to expect. But the sheer anguish, guilt, grief and pain that Vandal endures still took my breath away.
Vandal is a hard man to get close to, he's always been the dark, tortured damaged member of the band. He doesn't do Love or relationships, he takes what he wants from women...and that's it.
The only love he's ever known is that for his daughter.
Tabitha has suffered pain too, losing the love of her life has her spiralling out of control.
So when she meets Vandal he offers to help her forget, its an offer to good to refuse. But their tragic pasts can never stay hidden and when the truth comes out a whole new world of pain comes with it.
Throughout this whole story my heart was breaking, just knowing what both Tabi and Vandal went through was devastating. I loved how they grew together, healed and helped each other, even when they didn't realise they were doing it...I felt the connection from them both.
A truly moving, beautiful story about love and loss, forgiveness and redemption. Tabitha and Vandal still hold a special place in my heart and they always will.
I still have so much love for Sterling in this story. I just want to pet the furry little guy. 🐈💗

I totally loved this broken Rockstar romance. I really didn't know how or expect for this story, to go the way it did. And although I screamed at Vandal so much during this book. I really didn't expect the twist that happens.

This book isn't all hearts and flowers and although this story is tragic, it is a totally beautiful love story. I couldn't help but fall for Vandal, his dark domainant ways were just spell binding and you can see why Tabitha eventually couldn't do anything but fall in love him.

    Another huge recommend for me.

The author has put a warning with this novel about the content and it's definitely needed. This book is not for the faint hearted or easily offended. The D/s relationship is beautifully written and the story is as heartbreaking as it is erotic. Vandal is a pretty messed up guy....with many demons but the author still made me care for him and want to see him happy....I'm looking forward to the sequel 😀

    5 “Get Vandalized” Stars!

“Loving me will not be easy, loving me will be war. You will hold the gun and I will hand you the bullets. So breathe, and embrace the beauty of the massacre that lies ahead.” ~R. M. Drake

Vandal is book two in Carian Cole’s Ashes & Embers series. I became a fan of this author upon reading book one in this series and discovered that she could pen a humorous and witty tale with an edge. With this second installment Carian Cole took that edginess to a whole new level and what we get is a raw, ugly, gritty, painful and gut-wrenching story. It was powerful and I was enthralled. Two individuals tied together and united by one twisted and devastating tragedy. Both are destroyed. Can they be the each other’s saviour and the one brings the other out from under the ashes?

“I like to hurt people; I always have. I want them to feel the pain that I feel and the disappointments I’ve been forced to feel. That just seems fair to me.”

Vandal Valentine, bass player for the band Ashes & Embers and sizzling hot tattoo artist, has always been more than a little messed up. With a harsh childhood and upbringing Vandal has learned to embrace his darkness. He’s broken, self-destructive and music, pain and women seem to be his outlets of choice. He’s never been one to want commitment and has gone from one meaningless relationship or encounter to another. With trust issues and substance abuse problems, Vandal is no poster boy for the sane and well-adjusted. One devastatingly catastrophic incident sends Vandal further into a tailspin of despair.

Tabitha Bennett is a broken shell of the woman she once was. She was once someone who lived life to the fullest, someone that liked the small things in life like cookies and ice cream. All that changed in the blink of an eye. Tabitha is now on the verge of despair, she is ravished and barely hanging on by a thread. Her happiness is now a distant memory. It all changes when a sexy, long-haired dark angel offers her something she had no idea she was looking for.

“The ties that bind us to one another may not always be visible. But they’re there like thin, transparent veins. I don’t know why, but this is one vein I don’t want to slit.”

Vandal and Tabitha essentially are parallel mirrors of one another when it comes to their agonized and tortured souls. They are both reckless in different ways and any hope they had has long disappeared into the distant mirage of what was once their lives. Vandal can’t seem to stay away from Tabitha and is drawn in by her own darkness and “sensual innocence”. She becomes this craving that he needs in his life, a wrong that he needs to make right. Tabitha and Vandal are tragically linked and if there ever was a relationship destined to fail it would most definitely be theirs. With this damaging connection between the two of them, secrets and lies, together they will embark on a sinfully dark and erotic journey that will ultimately test their limits and perhaps be the key to set them free.

“I don’t know s** about love and romance, but I know that true submission goes far deeper than love. It gives more; it takes more. Love is fragile and can be destroyed. Submission is strong and only strengthens with time. Love leaves people weak and devastated, as she is now. Submission heals and awakens. Submission is love on f**** steroids.”

    *****

“He is a drug that I cannot get enough of. A little is never enough; I always need and want more.”

Vandal takes Tabitha on this dark and enticing voyage into the world of submission. It was something they both needed. Vandal needed to control and to give back while Tabitha simply needed to let go. The BDSM elements in this story were very well done in my opinion. The exchanges between Vandal and Tabitha were powerful and all-consuming. They both did not necessarily end up where they thought they would; however, Vandal and Tabitha slowly begin to put the pieces of themselves back together.

I can’t help but be vague when it comes to this review and my interpretation of this book. It is a hauntingly beautiful story that will rip your heart to shreds and it is also one that you need to experience for yourself without any misguided interpretations and spoilers. I really did not expect Vandal to be the book that it turned out to be. After reading Storm I was expecting something more or less the same. Well, color me surprised. What Carian Cole has provided to her reader with this book is angsty torment at its best.

All in all, Vandal (and frankly the first book in this series as well) is a must read. This is a series that has taken me by surprised and I am well and truly hooked. I will patiently be awaiting Lukas, the next book in this series. Carian Cole, I do hope you write fast!

“Our love will never be pretty. It will always be tarnished by the past and we will carry those scars forever.”

Carian Cole has outdone herself with Vandal, he is so hot, sexy and wild. Makes a girl want to be Vandalised lol. I absolutely loved Vandal and Tabitha’s story ❤️❤️❤️ It’s a heartbreaker for sure. Such a tragic experience leads them to be together and when Tabitha learns Vandal’s secret she is numb, not knowing what, when or why. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you won’t be disappointed 😎

I don't have a lot to say about this book mainly because I said it all in my tears while reading it. I didn't think it would go where it went, and HELL, it hurt so much. I felt so sad for these characters! I hurt so much for the hero. The heroine. The cat. Carian Cole took my broken heart and trampled all over it - and holy moly, it was worth it. This relationship is inconvenient, definitely ruffling feathers. The hero is not really likable. He's not fun. Carian says so herself. But he deserves love nonetheless. A whole lot of kinky love. And who doesn't like a fictional man with abandonment issues. Deep inside, he's got a man who needs loving too. So yeah. This book was everything I didn't know I needed to read today!

Wow, this one was a little different from Storm, the story line a little on the crazy side but still a great read. The characters both grieving for their lost loves, find away to bond, and make it work....well at least as much as it can for two damaged people. But once again Carian manages to keep you turning the pages because really you need to find out how it all ends up. I reallY enjoyed this book as well...Let's see what book 3 is all about....
