Seducing the Defendant (The Conflict of Interest Series Book 2) Kindle Edition
Jaxon Bentley is a hardnosed criminal lawyer whose entire life revolves around his work. He’s been asked to represent Scarlett Reyes, a woman accused of murdering her police officer husband in cold blood. All the evidence points to Scarlett being guilty and Jaxon is sure it’s an open and shut case.
But when he meets his client, he can’t help but feel that she’s innocent and that there’s more to the story than meets the eye. With a bit of digging, he uncovers a connection to the notorious Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club and realizes that Scarlett’s case is a complicated and difficult one. It certainly doesn’t help that the two share an immediate and passionate attraction. Will Jaxon be able to prove Scarlett’s innocence or are the two doomed to fail both in court and as a couple?

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2017Seducing the Defendant was an exceptionally well written book; it held my attention right away from the beginning to end. This book will make you sit on the edge of your seat and fall in love with the characters. The characters were strong and determined but sexy all at the same time and Chantel Fernando did a phenomenal job.
Scarlett Reyes goes to Jaxon Bently's law firm, after she is released on bail to see if he will take her case; I love how there is an instant attraction towards each other. I thought it was risky how he had to go to his buddy Demon, who is part of the Wind Dragons MC, to help; definitely had me concerned!!
This is the second book in the Conflict Interest Series; it can be read as a standalone book. I look forward to reading more books by Chantel Fernando, I would definitely recommend this book to other readers.
A Book Lovers Emporium!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2017The second book in the Conflict of Interest series.
We met Jaxson in Breaching the Contract but now he is back with a cracker of a case. Scarlett Reyes is charged with her husbands murder and she claims she is innocent.
There is just 1 issue. Jaxson is very attracted to her. Work ethic may fly out the window!
This was a great addition to the series, well written, strong and loveable characters and of course, The Wind Dragons feature in this book and I shrieked with joy.
I so did not expect that twist at the end. I wanted to cry! I admit I called the author some names but I will forgive all if she writes Hunter next!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 November 2017Jaxon needs to be by boyfriend!!!! Chantal Fernando really did such a good job with this story. Jaxon and Scarlett are just a match made in heaven, both are perfect for each other! I loved how they just cared for each other and wanted each other to be happy!
Jaxon is a powerful attorney. Winning is what he does. Scarlett husband is dead and she is the number one suspect.
Jaxon can't help but slowly finding feelings for Scarlett, and vice versa.
All Scarlett has known from her late husband is pain and hurt, being in Jaxon's presence has shown her what kindness and care really looks like. I loved seeing this relationship grow to be more.
I could not put down this story with each page I just grew to love all the characters so much more! Scarlett became so much more confident and had a sweet personality! She also had an amazing sense of humour and I loved her for Jaxon.
This book was awesome and I would recommend to everyone and I will definitely be doing a re read very soon!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 November 2017I loved Chantal Fernando’s Wind Dragon MC series and I loved her first book in the Conflict of Interest series. This book brought them both together in a sexy, fun, action packed and at times emotional read. Oh and let's not forget the little twists and turns and the whole, ‘I did not see that coming’ ending. The story centres around Jaxon Bentley, sexy criminal lawyer (who we meet briefly in Breaching the Contract) whose services are called upon to defend Scarlett Ryes who is accused of murdering her husband who as it turns out was a police officer. It turns out that there is a lot more to this case than originally meets the eye. A clever story, told in dual POV with some super sexy, strong characters, I can't wait for the next book in the series (I'm hoping it's Hunter’s story). I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 December 2017This was an enjoyable read. It was fast paced and engrossing and held my attention throughout.
I would have just loved a little more depth to the characters and their story but overall another good instalment to this series.
I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley; there was no inducement or obligation.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 November 2017OMG! this book! loved it but giving 4.5 stars.
You know when your reading and you become completely drawn in by the characters, there's a feel good vibe and you can feel yourself being embraced in the plot like a big comfy blanket..... this is that book for me.
It starts off with Scarlett being accused of her dead husbands murder. A dirty cop who used to abuse his wife and the same night Scarlett leaves him he also disappears.
Scarlett is finally free from her husband living abroad with her aunt and is finally moving on but two years down the line her husband body is dragged out of water.
Jaxon is Scarletts lawyer and there's a lot of evidence against her.
For the brief encounter I had with Jaxon in the previous book I wanted more but he left the story suddenly due to a family issue.
In seducing the defendant you get to find out why.
This book isn't how I thought it would be and in a good way. The case is quickly over and the story concentrates on Scarlett getting her life together, making friends and Scarlett and Jaxon falling in love and the chemistry is sizzling.
I love all the extended characters there's friendships and humour, I particularly liked one character and was envisioning his book but then came a twist which saddened and shocked me.
I felt the story finished suddenly and there was no further mention of the sick aunt in France who Scarlett left behind, just closure things that rounds up a story and makes it complete lacked slightly.
I'm looking forward to more, I wanted to read Jaxons story after the last book and got it but now I'm stumped and wondering who Chantal will write next.
This is one of those books that is sweet and warm and you keep expecting something bad or some angst to happen and it doesent until bam it does and it leaves you jaw dropped.
Seducing the defendant is a heart warming and hot read with great characters and addictive plot.
Told in first person dual povs and leads to a hea.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I really loved this one. Jaxson and Scarlett's story is fun, flirty, and sexy with a bit of legalese thrown in. It's very well written and the whole cast of characters are great. There should be lots of great stories ahead. I definitely recommend this one.
