Spinning Out (The Blackhawk Boys Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 5,507 ratings

A sexy and intense standalone novel from a New York Times bestselling author. This book contains heavy subject matter and is intended for mature readers.

Once, the only thing that mattered to me was football—training, playing, and earning my place on the best team at every level. I had it all, and I threw it away with a semester of drugs, alcohol, and pissing off anyone who tried to stop me. Now I’m suspended from the team, on house arrest, and forced to spend six months at home to get my shit together. The cherry on top of my fuckup sundae? Sleeping in the room next to mine is my best friend’s girl, Mia Mendez—the only woman I’ve ever loved and a reminder of everything I regret.

I’m not sure if having Mia so close will be heaven or hell. She’s off-limits—and not just because she’s working for my dad. Her heart belongs to someone else. But since the accident that killed her brother and changed everything, she walks around like a zombie, shutting out her friends and ignoring her dreams. We’re both broken, numb, and stuck in limbo.

Until I break my own rules and touch her.
Until she saves me from my nightmares by climbing into my bed.
Until the only thing I want more than having Mia for myself is to protect her from the truth.

I can’t rewrite the past, but I refuse to leave her heart in the hands of fate. For this girl, I’d climb into the sky and rearrange the stars.

Absolutely brilliant! I have never read a book like it and that’s really saying something!

A great storyline that pulled you in from the get go, awesome characters, both primary and secondary, amazing writing, which isn’t a surprise because Lexi Ryan is one talented lady and originality that strayed from the usual cliches!

The story set up is not one that I read often, mostly just in Lexi’s books, and she is so amazing at it!

I’m not going to say much more, I think this book is best read going in blind, as it took me a while to read it due to the blurb putting me off but now I’m hitting myself because it was just so so good!!

    5* read!!

I love a sports romance & this was sports romance with a twist

The whole way through I thought i knew what was happening then I’d be shocked by the twist

The dynamic between all the characters was perfect & the absolutely heart wrenching moments were beautifully written ♥️

It was just so different to what I’ve read already & it was just such a lovely read

I listened to this Via Audible. The story is about FMC & MMC never having good timing and never being together despite their feeling, due to other “factors”. Mainly the FMC is dating the MMC best friend. Then due to even more tragic circumstances, they stay away even after the boyfriend is no longer in the picture.
This is a very cute, heart aching romance, but is worth the read (or listen). I had a couple angry moments at the book, when you just get so frustrated with the story, but i guess for me this moments count towards a good read. Not really any smexy scenes, so if that’s what your after book isnt for you. Great cleanser book.

What a fabulous story as soon as you've read the prologue you know that Spinning Out is going to be one hell of a read.
This story has so many aspects to it, it's not just a simple straight forward romance and it is written brilliantly with the past and present coming together in equal measures but even that isn't straight forward.
From the very beginning you can feel the hurt, dissapointment, sadness and even deceit, it runs on and off throughout the storyline and at 462 pages there is no getting away from it.
There's Mia and Arrow but then there is Brogan too just to complicate things and with all the other characters, they all play a brilliant part whether good or bad.
We soon become very aware of the dreadful accident that happened New Years Eve which involved Mia's brother Nic and Brogan, we know Nic died but it takes a little while to realise that Brogan is still alive and at this point we have know idea what state he is in until we learn through Mia's visits, it's heartbreaking and again you feel the hurt, sadness and now the guilt and remorse.. Mia and Arrow have plenty of that.
As Spinning Out unfolds, it's heavily centred around Mia, Arrow and Brogan, their love triangle if you like but also the NYE accident... What really happened, we are kept guessing and wondering who is really at fault here, we have know idea and that is the case until the very end.
Its a painful wait filled with a lot of mixed signals and emotions, Brogan and Nic lost their lives but we got the end result we were hoping for even though it was at a terrible cost.
Out of everything bad that happens something good happens and in this case Mia and Arrow ended up with each other which is how it should have been from the beginning but that was all part of this brilliant story, Arrow and his father's relationship had improved some, along with Mia's dad sorting himself out and even Mia's mother showing up so all in all it was pretty good.!
Before Spinning Out I have only read Here and Now a The Complete Series and that was back in September 2014 and that was a love triangle too and again brilliantly written and very complex, I'm quickly realising that Lexi Ryan doesn't do simple.!
I have however downloaded Playing with Fire which I will read very soon.!
    Thank you..

Oh wow, what a roller coaster of emotions this story took me on. Arrow, Brogan & Mia, I thought, essentially were all really good people who each just made mistakes that took their lives in a direction none of them could have ever foreseen.

Brogan, oh how my heart hurt for him, always thinking he was second best, in football, in class, to Mia but still his insecurities didn't excuse what he did!

Arrow, when we first meet him I thought he was a complete a$$hole but you soon realise that's not who he really is & that there is so much more to him & that there are reasons behind his self destructive nature & his attitude towards Mia

Love triangles, for me can be hit & miss & I thought the author did an amazing job with Mia, Brogan & Arrow's story. Yes, of course there was the normal indecision's by Mia but there is so much more to this story than that, add in the mystery & events about what actually happened on New Years Eve & this made for a great read.

This was my first book by this author & I can't wait to read the rest of the series

Absolutely captivating romance with substance. The characters were good and dialogue flowed well. This book was story driven and had a few twists and turns.
It did go back and forth in time but was easy to follow and had enough depth and emotional connection to keep the pages turning.
Predictable but I didn't mind, it was a cracking story from start to finish. Definitely entertaining and worth a look.

4.0 out of 5 stars Une nouvelle trilogie
Reviewed in France on 18 May 2016
