X and I were probably doomed from the start.

That’s what happens when you meet in court-mandated group therapy and then try to steal from him to pay off your blackmailing drug dealer. Former drug dealer, thank you very much. I'm turning over a new leaf and all that.

Which is why I should leave him alone.

Except he tempts me to do things I swore I’d stop doing. It’s that whole gruff, grumbly, anti-social thing he has going on. Him, flame. Me, moth. Something about him calls to me, makes the blood hum in my body. And I don't want that feeling to end.

Lucy Connors is straight-up insane.

She looks like a Disney princess and tries my patience in more ways than I thought possible. Besides the fact that I have to save her cute little ass from jail, I can’t quite figure out how to leave her alone. Even when she’s trying her hand at Breaking and Entering. Especially when it's myhouse she's burglarizing.

Yeah, we were probably doomed from the start.

But that’s the thing about being hooked on something so good, and so bad for you—you don’t walk away when you should.

Note from the authors:

This book deals with subject matter that is highly improbable, sometimes campy, and definitely illegal. Please don't use it as a guideline for how to live your life, but enjoy nonetheless.

Let me just begin by saying OH. MY. GOD. Wow, just wow and some more wows. Right, ok review time.

Received an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

X and Lucy were doomed from the start. Meeting at a group therapy session should have warned them but when Lucy breaks into X's house to steal valuables to pay off her former drug dealer things take an unexpected turn and it's sure is a whole lot of fun to read about.

Lucy's character was interesting, she's head strong and relies on no one but herself. Watching her progress and interact throughout the book is interesting

X is quiet, shy and keeps himself to himself. He reminded me of myself, anxiety and panic strike him at awful times and he feels like he just can't breath, I know his pain. I really bonded with this character and for me that's usually hard to do. Xavier will be stuck with me forever and that makes me damn happy.

The storyline was different to anything I've ever read and I loved every single minute of it. Whitney and Jessica did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job with this book, I wouldn't change a single thing.

The story takes you to a place you won't even think it could go leaving you in awe. I love a book that can take my mind off of the present and take me into a whole new world like this one did. Truly incredible writing, I can't wait for more for these ladies...please say there will be more?

If I could give this book more than a 5 star rating I would, this is the first book in months I've read and been able to rate a 5, I'm in awe.

HOLY MOTHER OF THIEVES!!!!

Lucy is in a dire predicament. To get rid of her ex drug dealer and lead a normal crime free life, she has to rob the rich guy in her therapy group. It's the last thing she needs but desperate times call for desperate measures. Problem is, she is into the guy and every time she is close to him, she wants to rile him up and do bad things to him.

X knows Lucy is certifiable and that he should stay fifty feet away from her. But everything about her makes his pulse race. He craves her with an intensity that is foreign to him and he even can't think of leaving her alone.

OMG THIS STORY!!!!!!! I was super hyped for this book when it was announced. I'll be honest I've never read dark comedies and this was the PERFECT introduction to such an exciting genre. I knew Whitney and Karla would knock it out of the park and they did.

I absolutely fell in love with the story and the premise. It was like I was watching a thrilling movie. I was hooked from start to finish. The story was such a roller coaster of events and mishappenings, I am surprised I didn't hyperventilate at all. *heh*

How freaking sexy was X? Like he has his issues and they only endear you to him but holy shizzles his growly alpha side had me fanning myself more than appropriate. And Lucy is inFREAKINGsane. I cannot believe that woman is real because I am both in awe and scared of her potential.

I really really want this brilliant duo to write more dark comedies because they are pros at this. SO GOOD!!!!! ~Sonal

This was my first read from these authors and I loved it.
X and Lucy come from completely different worlds and bring out the best and the worst in each other. But strangely they are good for each other.
This story is action packed and moves along at a really fast pace. I really enjoyed the dialogue between the main characters and the chemistry was seriously hot. Plenty of witty banter and laugh out loud moments made this a great read.

I received an ARC of this book

When you are forced into court mandated therapy, you go… Whether you gain anything from the therapy sessions or not, that’s a different story.
When you go to group therapy because your therapist recommends you to go, you go…Whether you gain anything from the group sessions or not.

When attending the group therapy sessions, you are introduced to a wide variety of people, that’s for sure!!!

Lucy is a head strong young lady who fends for herself, makes decisions by herself. She’s trying to start a new and improved life since serving time in jail.

X is well he is X…Attending group therapy wearing his $1000 per ounce cologne and looking mighty fine. Till the girl across from him tips her chair and he comes to her rescue.

Lucy and X are kind of in a pickle… They’ve seasoned the iron skillet together, tackled a freezer full of frozen pizzas even shopped together at the home improvement store to try to come up with a solution to their full Dishwasher Box!

What a good, quirky, laugh out loud book that just goes to show you… Opposites do attract!!!

Going into this story, I wasn't exactly sure what I was going to get, but when I saw that it was written by Karla Sorensen and Whitney Barbetti ( mainly Whitney), I knew that I wanted to read it. I have to admit it was an excellent ride and more than I could ever imagine it would take me on. The book starts at a therapy session where Lucy Connors attends as part of her parole and X who suffers from a few things - anxiety being one of them. Lucy has a dilemma as she owes her old drug dealer money and needs it fast. At her therapy session, she gives X a once over and decides he can be her new mark as he's Richie rich. Putting her cat burglar skills to the test, she breaks into X's house and is almost caught but uses her sexual wiles to get out of it. Lucy did get away with something priceless to X - his grandfather's watch. He wants it back and arrives at Lucy's place, only to see her drug dealer there. One thing leads to another, and they end up with a dead body. Of course, none of them can go to prison, so where does one put a dead body. In the basement freezer of X's house. X's mother discovers the body and things look like they are about to blow up but she proves to be very resourceful as well. Will X and Lucy get away with murder and all the other mayhem that comes with it? Find out in Hooked: A Love Story of Criminal Proportions. Hooked had everything from romance, murder and romantic comedy with lots of laughs especially the interactions between Lucy, X and X's Mother. Hooked is a 2017 book that everyone should add to this year's reading lists.

5 "X marks the spot" Stars!!!

I am so giddy right now. I freaking loved everything about this story, especially the two main characters! This book was filled with with so many laugh-out-loud moments. My gosh there was never a dull moment.

Lucy was the type of character I love rooting for. She has her problems, but she's stronger because of them. She doesn't know what it's like to need someone because she's always been alone. So it's hard for her to trust anybody because of a past relationship. Even though she can take care of herself, it couldn't hurt to have one person on her side.

X was so perfectly flawed. His solitude is his happy place. He doesn't need nor want for anything. He is perfectly fine alone and wouldn't want it any other way. The thoughts that ran through his mind made me hurt for him. I so wanted him to come out victorious on the other side.

X and Lucy made quite the pair. More in common than either one of them could think possible. These two were a riot together. All the mischievous they encountered, I can't even. I loved this perfectly imperfect duo.

"And maybe that was what love was, or what falling into love was. The knowledge that you’d do anything to secure the other person’s happiness, even if it meant giving up everything, every part of your world, in exchange."

'Hooked' did just that, it hooked me. I couldn't get enough of X and Lucy!!! I honestly didn't want their story to end. Karla and Whitney did a phenomenal job. Seriously, such an enjoyable read. And OH MY GOSH, chapter twenty six gave me life!!!! I freaking swooned so hard, looooooved that chapter to pieces!!!! #GetHooked

Lucy is an ex drug dealer who has spent some time in jail. X has social anxiety, and comes from a family of money. They both have the same therapist who send them to the same group therapy meeting. Lucy notices X has money due to the clothes he is wearing when he walks into therapy. Lucy has some debt she needs to pay off to her former drug dealer. So, Lucy decides to break into X’s house to steal things to pay off her debt. Things don’t go as planned, and Lucy and X end up with a bigger problem.

I didn’t like this book for a couple of reasons. First being that I felt like I didn’t really get to know the charters. It just jumped into the story line. I can’t like a love story if I don’t even know the characters. Lucy and X just got themselves into a mess of problems and grow to know each other that way. Also, I just had a hard time with some of the things that happened in the story. X made his mom out to seem super crazy and controlling but then when she found out what X did to save Lucy, she was calm and collected. I just wish the authors followed out with her being crazy during that part.
I just wasn’t not a huge fan of this book. But, it is a short, fast read.

5 STARS FOR HOOKED!! You will be hooked from page one in this fast paced, fun sexy story. X which stands for Xavier, is a super rich hot guy with social issues and gets sent to group therapy to talk about their problems amongst each other. Lucy is a beautiful and funny former drug dealer and thief that is in the same group therapy. These two are so different, but yet have so much in common. This story will have laughing at all the bantering between X and Lucy, flipping pages as fast as you can. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

4 "hooked on you" stars!
“I’ve been waiting for someone like you for a long time.”

Together, Whitney Barbetti and Karla Sorensen have written an entertaining and hilarious story about two unlikely people finding love in the most unconventional way.
"A classic tale of two people who were never supposed to meet."

Lucy has made some bad decisions in the past. Now out of jail she attends court mandated group sessions as a reformed drug dealer and addict. However, she is still in hot water because she owes a ton of money to her former dealer who has been pestering her for the money since she was released.

X is basically a hermit, hardly leaving his house and keeping a wall around his heart. He doesn't let people in and isn't used to touch. He suffers from anxiety and joins the therapy group that Lucy attends after years of private sessions.

Immediately, Lucy can tell X has money and decides he can make her problem go away. X notices Lucy but has no desire to even talk to her. She has other plans, though, and soon their lives are flipped upside down.

Fantastic banter, hilarious interactions, and sweet and steamy moments made Hooked an enjoyable read. It's fast paced with a unique storyline and original characters, and I couldn't put it down. Borderline ridiculous but so entertaining, it's easy to get hooked on this book.

Sassy, feisty, and a total hoot, just about everything that came out of Lucy's mouth made me laugh-out-loud. She is quick and witty, and I instantly liked her. Her life is a hot mess and it just gets crazier as the story goes on.

I adored X. With a childhood like his, it's no wonder why he was awkward and uncomfortable around people. He was vulnerable and perfectly imperfect. He is a sweetheart and I loved watching him acclimate to Lucy's presence. His feelings snuck up on him and the realization of how he was affected by Lucy made me smile.
The fire that was Lucy was the best kind of destructive force; she burned in my lungs when I breathed her in, and I loved it.

From the moment Lucy got his attention they didn't have a chance. The sexual tension surrounding them was sizzling and when they finally collided, it was explosive. Things progressed easily between them even if the situations they found themselves in were difficult, and I enjoyed every interaction between them.
This was how addictions started. Like Lucy had tied something around my arm and injected herself into my bloodstream, I would crave her long after she left my bed. She’d leave me with withdrawals, with a sickness that I’d wish to God that I could rip from inside of me, but would be powerless to do so.

Their relationship was intense and wonderful. They ended up being exactly what the other one needed. Lucy accepted X just the way he was and X wanted all of Lucy, including the good and bad.
“I just…” I held a fist over my heart. “I have so much for you right here. It’s big and scary and I’m worried that if I hold onto it too hard, it’ll crack in my hands and shatter at my feet. But I don’t want to let it loose, either...
I want all of that because of you. There’s no one else I’d rather have.”

Overall, Hooked was fun, sexy, and sweet, and I loved it! There was very little angst and the small amount of drama that was present was short lived.  I definitely recommend it if you are in the mood to laugh-out-loud. It’s a great summer read!

Starting off with a “holy pissflaps” as my first two words into this book should have been my clue to the hilarity of this story despite it’s sinister plot.

Hooked is the collaboration between two great authors, Karla Sorensen and Whitney Barbetti. It is supposed to be a Dark rom-com, but in a hilarious surreal way.

Lucy is a former drug dealer/addict who has spent the last year of her life in prison courtesy of her asshole ex. After she got out, and as part of her parole sentence, she needs to attend group therapy with Dr. Watkins. In said therapy she meets billionaire X who suffers social anxiety and Dr. Watkins thought it a good idea for him to be in a group therapy.

After a whole bunch of mishaps, misfortunes, comic encounters and sparks flying these two find themselves in a compromised situation, not only criminally speaking but emotional as well.

Lucy is a bit unhinged, street savvy, compulsive lier with no filters “Disney Princess “ look alike. I adore her personality. I love her approach to life. And I respect how she resorts to humour to skid life’s tragedies.

X is the complete opposite, he is an anxious, paranoid recluse smothered by his mom’s insecurities.
She is everything he needed to turn his life upside down. He is everything she needed to feel loved and to belong.

What I loved:
Their banter and vulnerabilities.

What I didn’t love:
The lack of insight into her past. We were given bits and pieces but would have loved delving more into what really went on in her childhood.
Also, him grovelling would have been more appropriate as I feel her reaction to the whole “messy situation” was well grounded.

Even though, this book does not tick any of my Bingo Card boxes but I absolutely ADORED it.

I avoided looking in his beady little eyes, so sure I was that he’d be able to suck the soul right out of me just by eye contact.

^^^ A lot of oddly phrased sentences.

I was going to break into his house that night, while he was gone.

^^^ Confusing wording. Why not say ‘tonight’ verses that night?

FMC wore purple pleather leggings and a ruffled tank to therapy.

^^^ I’m just feeling everything as odd. Eww at the wardrobe. And WTF is she wearing a tank while he has on a jacket?

Then we get to the nonsense.

Rich PARANOID mofo with trust fund, a watch that could be sold for a Mercedes, and 5BR house… yet, the FMC breaks into it with nothing but a screwdriver. Come the f’ on. No security cameras? Really? A damn career criminal, and she brings her debit card and ID to a break in and seperates herself from said items during the robbery. Really? What the hell is a rich guy doing slumming it with a therapist who’s clearly court appointed for her?

And the cheese…

“Whoa, buddy. No need to bring in the fuzz.

The whole lap dance scene read like a manual on fixing a broken sink. Was this shit supposed to be funny or sexy? Dunno, buy it flunked either way.

And, yet more nonsense as she takes off with his expensive watch like he couldn’t simply call the police or hunt her down. *eyeroll city*

Where is the funny other reviewers mentioned? Where is the sexy? Suspense? I’m at 28%, and this shit sucks mudflats in the middle of a rainstorm.

Terrible writing style. Horrid characters. Boring stereotypes of f’d up. I’m completely uninterested in the story nor characters. They could all fall from a cliff to a rocky death for all I care.

This book was awesome!! The two main characters are so flawed and so screwed up that this works wonderfully. Lucy...what a hot mess that girl is. Former drug user, dealer, klepto, and liar. She has to get her life together or its back to prison for her. X...anxiety ridden mess. While he is built and looks like your typical hero in a book, he is a anxiety riddled mess.
Together these two work, and it's a beautiful thing. Lucy pulls X out of his shell, and makes him realize things are not so bad, and X makes Lucy put back all the crap she tries to steal. Together they have to deal with former drug dealers, and worse...his mom, who is the worst type of helicopter parent. This story is a delight, and if you want to read a light, funny, with a few serious twists thrown in, then this is for you.

When Lucy first saw X she knew she had to make an impression. Even if it was in court mandated therapy. Everyone has their issues right? The only issue she saw about X was that he had too much money to care and she needed enough cash to pay off her ex boyfriends debt to the drug dealer from before she was in the clink. She knew X would have enough he wouldn't miss anything.

X first noticed Lucy in group therapy when she tipped over her chair and he helped her up. He couldn't help but think that she looked like some kind of Disney princess. He couldn't stop looking at her even though she was blatantly lying while speaking in group. What he didn't know was that he was a mark for her and nothing more until things got a bit more complicated.

And by complicated there was a crime involved that they both had to depend on each other in order to get past everything. In order to get past everything he would have to trust her and vice versa. Were they ready for that? They would have to be if neither of them wanted to go to prison.

Let me just start off by saying how much I loved this book!!! I was absolutely in love within the first chapter!! It was nothing like I was expecting! The roles were completely reversed than how they usually are and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE!!!

Lucy is vulnerable but also very tough because she has always had to depend on herself for everything because she has always only had herself. No one else has ever stuck around, but who needs people that don't want to be there for you if they aren't adding value to your life? She definitely added value to her life the day she met X. X was a bit of a recluse with multiple neuroses that kept him from doing so many things that a 26 year old man should do.

X had a mother who was more than smothering and did her best to control his life and he was more than unhappy with the situation. But also was unwilling to make her understand it was his life not hers. Until Lucy came into his life. He realized that his mother cannot keep trying to run his life even thought his family lost his older brother when he was only 11 months. His mothers neuroses became his own. Crippling fear just to drive is only the tip of the iceberg, but he was more than willing to get the help that he needed in order to conquer these fears. Lucy helped in so many ways it was hard for him to fathom that ever ending.

So many people struggle with varying issues of anxiety and I'm so glad to see that Karla and Whitney included someone who does have those issues, because there are more people who deal with these issues than are spoken about. How X dealt with his issues was one way but there are many others who deal with it in more destructive ways.

I absolutely loved the relationship that X and Lucy grew into, neither one of them trusted anyone before but circumstances pushed them to trust each other because they were on the line. If either one of them made the wrong move Lucy would be the one to lose the most, even if it wasn't her fault.

Lucy and X needed each other in more ways than one and they ended up pushing each other to the limits they never thought they would be in again. But both were more than willing to work at what they have in order to gain more from the relationship!

This is one of my favorite books so far this year and I cant wait to see if they expand on this series!

When I picked up Hooked and started reading the synopsis is what had my curious and interest wondering if this one would be any good or not. Well it was really good. I laughed more than once with Lucy’s antics and her well let’s say her tendencies to umm we will go with the word collect things. Add into the mix X’s own anxiety and quirks then you can just only begin to picture why Hooked had me laughing out loud but also had me hooked on the story.

I have anxiety, this is no secret but it is nothing like X’s, and with his mother good lord there is no wonder why he is the way he is. X just pretty quickly was a character that I adored and felt that connection to. He balanced Lucy and Lucy balanced him. The reason why they are brought together was well I won’t say but yeah it would keep a connection for sure.

I don’t know if the authors have plans on writing more of X and Lucy’s story or if they have plans for some let’s just say interesting secondary characters or not but if they do I will be reading it. Hooked is a book I can easily say needs to be on your TBR lists.

When Whitney Barbetti writes a book, I drop everything to read it. Add in the amazing Karla Sorensen and yeah, I will literally drop everything to read it. Kids need food? There's Pop Tarts in the pantry. Go away. I'm reading.

To say I was HOOKED from the very first chapter would be an understatement. I was hooked from the very first two words.

Lucy is our heroin, although she's a little more villain in a sense. Former drug user and dealer, but still a tiny bit of a klepto, she finds herself in court-mandated group therapy with the crazy, horny, and angry. But one day, she also finds our hero, X, who is riddled with social anxiety. By the looks of his clothes and accessories, all of which Lucy can identify by brand and price, she realizes that he's the perfect target for one last chance at freedom.

I loved Lucy, flaws and all. She did what she had to do to survive. I'm not one to condone the usage or sale of drugs, but this is fiction and I can see past that to see the real Lucy. Her backbone, her no nonsense, her sarcasm.

Loved that Lucy was at the forefront of the story. She was strong, while X was more on the weaker side. But their histories completely explain why. Both of them grow, separately and together.

When an event thrusts them together, they're forced to either stick around or run. And even though it was a twisted situation, I loved how they both handled it.

Hooked is filled with witty banter, steamy sexy times, sweet caresses and tender moments, and you'll find yourself laughing when you probably shouldn't.

Lucy may be the klepto, but she was never prepared for what X winds up stealing from her.

I generously received this ARC from Give Me Books in exchange for an honest review...

You know what they say...opposites attract...which is exactly what happens with our hero and heroine in this action packed, hilariously funny romance. Right from the very beginning I was hooked into this story and I couldn't put it down until the very end. Xavier and Lucy are nothing alike and come from completely different backgrounds and yet I couldn't think of a more perfect couple. Their relationship starts off unexpectedly and has many twists and turns throughout. Every single laughable moment had me on the edge of my seat waiting to figure out what would happen next.

This dynamic duo sure have a way with words and I can't wait to see what they come up with next!

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars. I won the arc of this fun, original, and thrilling story.

Let me start with that I loved X and Lucy, a lot. Both were great characters and even better together. She had me laughing at every lie she told. And X had me all kinds of hot and bothered then melting my heart. I wish their story gets a sequel so I can have more of him. It is a HEA and a perfect weekend read.

So why I didn't give it the last .5 points. Given it was an arc there was some editing glitches but Karla has told me they were fixed and I truly hope that's true. As I told her in all honesty it's too good of a story to have that hinder the ratings once the final copy gets released. My other issue was I felt the time frame, something's didn't seem to match up. It was a fasted pace book and that is perfect from this story.

This was the first story I read from both of these authors and I look forward to reading their other work.

What a fabulous romcom! I'm completely in love with these two unlikely criminals. Lucy and Xavier were absolutely delightful. A pathological liar with a shady past and a handsome guy who struggles to keep his anxiety at bay. You will not be able to put this book down. The movie nerd in me loved all the movie references. I know the writers have other projects for the imminent future, but I look forward to another collaboration down the road.

3.5 stars....I have mixed feelings about this one. Many readers loved this book, so do not be put off reading this by my review. It was well written and I loved X and Lucy. It was a really good love story, but I hated the story itself, so this alone let it down for me. I would like to read something else from this author as I thought she did a good job with X and Lucy. Lucy had a great sense of humor and X was one sweet, hot, sexy dude. I did do a lot of eye rolling especially where X’s mother was concerned.

Hooked by Whitney Barbetti and Karla Sorensen is a standalone romance novel.
Meet Lucy Connors, she´23 years and made some bad decisions in her life. And now she has to attend a court mandated group therapy. She works odd jobs to makes ends meet.
And then is there Xavier Lockwood- X-. He has major anxies, is a neatfreak. They meet at group therapy and Lucy believes he´s her saving grace. She´s her own kind of crazy.
Hooked kept me well entertained. The writing is great, I loved the characters and I had a good time reading Hooked.
Favorite Quote: " Home wasn´t a place- it was a person. It was my person. "
Hooked is a love story of criminal proportins, a 5 star read. Thank you Karla Sorensen and Whitney Barbetti.

From reading the blurb I couldn't wait to get my hands on this and I was lucky enough to be gifted an arc for an honest review.

I loved lucy, loved her. She was amazing and funny with a backbone even after everything life has dealt her and I just wanted to hug her. X was awesome too and I loved being in his head and even with all his neurosis he still knew what he had with Lucy. These authors really made something incredible together and I hope there will be more to come from them, even though this book really wrapped itself up at the end I wouldn't be disappointed with a little novella a few years down the line.
Now your probably wondering why not a full 5* well there is nothing wrong with this book and I would recommend to everybody but I would of liked a little more back story in Lucy but that us my only complaint. Enjoy

This book was HILARIOUSLY PERFECT and a lot of fun! I haven't laughed this much while reading a book in a long time! Karla and Whitney work magically together, like peanut butter and chocolate.

WOW!! JUST WOW!! This is a First read from both Authors Whitney Barbetti & Karla Sorensen. They Blew Me Away with Xavier and Lucy's story but it is not your common "I met a Girl & Date her" kind. They meet in a weird environment that most would not meet and she literally falls out of her chair to get his attention. There is Hot Chemistry between them but they don't surrender so quickly. Their story has alot of action, mommy issues which Not by his choice, movie references, drama from her old past and let's Not forget Get the Hot Sexual tension! This Book had me Laughing, screaming at the characters especially at the Mom and very emotional throughout reading it. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN because I wanted to know what was going to happen next! Also there was something unexpected things that had happened and left my mouth drop! THANK YOU LADIES FOR WRITTING THIS UNUSUAL STORY!! LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! THIS IS A MUST READ and 5 STARS!!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Love this Thought from X.......
Lucy and I were never supposed to meet. But we did. If I hadn’t tried Watkins , if he hadn’t forced me to try the group therapy, we never would have met. Ronald still would have shown up at her apartment. Still would have hurt her. So what. It was at my hand, and given the opportunity, I would hit him again. The intensity of that knowledge roared through me like a wildfire. Unhindered and destructive, stripping away the reality of what my life had been like before she came into it. Boring and predictable, which was how I liked it. Since Lucy fell backwards on that chair, I hadn’t been able to predict a single thing that happened next. And not only was I still alive, but I felt like more of man: stronger and smarter.

This was just a fun book to read!! I laughed so hard at some points that I dropped my kindle!! I also love to see flawed characters and how they can make each other stronger. X and Lucy was a perfect match even if they didn't look like it. And X having all the flaws that he did and not being the usual alpha male made me fall in love with him even more. But he did have that protective instinct for Lucy. And Lucy oh lord Lucy was a character for sure!!! She had me rolling with some of the stuff coming out of her mouth!! The only thing is I would have loved to have known more about her background, you get a little bit here and there but I would have loved more. On X's background you get enough to know exactly what, who and why he is exactly the way he is. But overall I so enjoyed this book and I had my nose in it until I finished it,so yes it was a one day read for me. So if you are in the mood to laugh this is a book for you!! I would recommend this book to read any day for that matter. - By Tina

This was such an entertaining story and I was so happy that I received an e-ARC to review early in order to spread the word about this book! This new adult, standalone contemporary romance just had me giggling from start to finish. I love reading stories about two people that meet (and get to know each other) under the most unlikely of circumstances.

The story. I thought the story was well thought out and had a really good rhythm and pace to it. There was definitely never a dull moment with these characters, haha! I found a few things to be a tad too coincidental, but that it just me being nit picky. It was unusual and different storyline, which I highly appreciated.

Lucy Connors. Some would call her a pathological liar, but others would call her great at improvisation. Lucy was entertaining as hell and threw out movie references like nobody’s business. Of course her sarcasm and quick wit were deflecting strategies to hide a deeper pain that she refused to share with anyone, especially someone like X whom she views as out of her league. I loved how Lucy was the perfect balance for X. She was outgoing and not afraid to make a fool of herself. She brought chaos into X’s life…that’s for sure!

Xavier Lockwood. This man. I seriously just wanted to take away his demons, but then he never would have met Lucy, and that would have definitely been a far worse tragedy. X was a very private person who knew what his daily routine was before Tornado Lucy blew into his life. He would do absolutely anything for her which became quite obvious very quickly. I loved how X saw through Lucy’s bullshit and was not afraid to call her out on it because he wanted her honesty more than anything. It was fun to see X finally let loose and go along with some of Lucy’s shenanigans. This man deserved to let go a little bit after growing up under his helicopter mom.

The relationship. I felt Lucy and X were perfect complements of each other and brought out the best in each other. They knew what the other needed without being told, which shows that they were paying attention to each other.

The side characters. The only big one was X’s mom and she was a crazy bitch. Yes, she might have a really good reason for why she is that way she is, but she was the ultimate helicopter mom to X even though he was a 26 year old man.

I would recommend this story to those who like: unlikely couples, breaking and entering, some criminal shenanigans, sandwiches, sexy AF heroes with some quirky habits, and a sarcastic heroine with some dramatic tendencies.

Overall Rating: ★★★/★★★★★

I am obsessed with this book!! As soon as I started reading I was hooked on X and Lucy and as the book went on I only grew to love them more and more.

Lucy is a hot mess but I loved how self aware she was. She was comfortable in her own skin and willing to face up to her mistakes. She was also a bit of a klepto, but that's another story.

I loved X so much from the very beginning. You understand his anxiety and you just want to wrap him up in a protective blanket and make sure nothing happens to him.

They meet in an unlikely situation and get into a string of messes. They would constantly find themselves in serious and sometimes scary situations and would always find some ridiculous way to fix everything. Hooked was seriously funny. It was like an action/adventure parody with a side of romantic comedy. It was so different from anything else I've read and it was everything. There were parts that had me dying laughing, while others had my heart melting from the sweetness.

X and Lucy are not who you'd expect to be together but I think they brought out the best in each other. X understood Lucy and let her be who she was while also making sure she didn't get in too much trouble. Lucy let X relax and forget his anxieties while he was with her. She didn't pity him or hover over him which. She was with him every step of the way. I loved them together and the romance was seriously hot. I loved that X wasn't willing to back down when Lucy would get scared. He was strong and steady when she needed it and she was perfect at holding him up and supporting him as well. They balanced each other really well.

And that ending!!! It was so sweet and precious, I couldn't have loved it more!!

5 Stars!

Well well well... these two ladies are brand new to me but boy did they leave a mark... intriguing me with their writing styles and captivating words. Karla and Whitney created an intense, twisted, ultra-steamy masterpiece that had me on the edge of my seat, cover to cover and addicted.

Hooked did just that... hooked me deep from the very start. Lucy and X were unique and quirky in a way that's indescribable yet refreshing. Both were...damaged, imperfect, flawed, and opposite in every way yet that pull and chemistry was magnetic and completely undeniable.

Are you ready to get HOOKED?

One moment. One incident. One unforgettable connection.

She's in court mandated group therapy after a not so great past that she's trying to move on from yet continues to keep popping up. He's there as an "exercise" from his therapist. He doesn't want to be there... neither does she. He thinks she's certifiable. She needs a quick solution to her problems. It's gonna get sticky and complicated but it's so gonna be worth it.

Love isn't easy and it's definitely not always kind. But it's worth the fight... and stepping out of your comfort zone.

While this book was a quick read, it packed a serious punch to the heart.... but only in all the best ways. I laughed, smiled, swooned, and kept the paces the entire book.... and by the end I wanted so much more.

Give this book a try! I mean that blurb... killer but I promise by the end of the first chapter, you'll be hooked.

I highly recommend this amazing story.
