The Queen (Endgame Book 5) Kindle Edition
I have one chance at a new life. A college education. A future outside of Tanglewood's dark walls. For a breathless moment it seems like I might actually escape.
Then I get a phone call from home.
Damon Scott is my own personal dragon, the fight I've always lost, the secret hope of my heart. And he needs my help right now. Only my mind can solve the puzzle. Only my presence can keep him sane as the city fights against him.
Only my heart can unlock a man with such a tragic past.
This is my final gamble, with everything at stake. One last game to win a future for both of us.
And a love strong enough to break the city apart.
THE QUEEN is the final novel in the bestselling Masterpiece duet, about a game of lies and loyalty, of betrayal and power, and ascension to the city's throne.

- Reviewed in Australia on 29 September 2017Verified PurchaseI absolutely loved this series.
Penny and Damon will take you on a rollercoaster of emotions when they bring you into their lives. Their story opens up and dissects just how far each one has come, survived and evolved.
Skye Warren brings us some very intriguing Heroes, Heroines and Villians. Oh how I love a very diverse villain.

- Reviewed in Australia on 24 September 2017Verified PurchaseThis series went above and beyond! The characters were complex and it was like peeling back an onion to discover the layers, which is exactly what Penny did! She peeled back Damien's layers until he was exposed! Great series, definitely worth a read:)
- Reviewed in Australia on 29 September 2017With Skye Warren’s poetic storytelling, a cast of irresistible characters, The Queen concludes The Masterpiece duet in a spectacular way.
Dark. Sexy. Suspenseful. All qualities we all know and love about Skye Warren’s books. Qualities that possessed every page of The Queen as we witnessed Damon and Penny thrown back into each other’s world with the force of their pasts driving them closer together, closer than ever. But then again, were they ever not in each other’s worlds? Years might have passed, state lines put between them. But Miss Warren reminds us, love doesn’t recognise distance, nor does a love like Damon and Penny’s fade over time.
Their closeness causes everything to intensify.
The hate. The love. The desire. The need to protect.
But will the chaos surrounding their lives, their undeniable connection, bring together permanently, or drive them apart, forever?
I’d love to say here how I utterly adored every single world of The Queen, but I can’t. I love Skye Warren’s writing, her stories and I have fallen in love with Damon and Penny. But after devouring the story in one sitting I didn’t find myself smiling with satisfaction at the end of it. Don’t get me wrong, I loved how The Queen brought everything full circle. This was an incredible story, without a doubt. The writing, the world building, the characters. All amazing. Was I sad the duet was finished? Yes. I could read about Penny and Damon every day and I wouldn’t grow sick of them. But that wasn’t it. The romance aspect of The Queen didn’t quite hit the mark for me but I also can’t sit here and tell you how I would change it. It all played out exactly how I expected for Damon and Penny. I just selfishly wanted infinite pages of these two lovers and the chaos that follows them.
If you haven’t read from Skye Warren and love dark, sexy, suspenseful romance then start now with Damon and Penny. This duet is definitely one of my all time favourite criminal underworld romances.

- Reviewed in Australia on 19 September 2017It's over but I don't want to let go of Damien and Penny this has been a fantastic series.
Damien is the king of Tanglewood the master of all he surveys all except Penny that is. She doesn't know it but the reader quickly realises the hold and power that Penny has over him, we see Damien in a new light the more the story progresses.
I don't think I've ever wanted a book couple to have sex as much as I wanted these two to get it on. However this one has a different feel to it so the lack of sex fits perfectly. The characters are playing a big game of cat and mouse not just Damien and Penny but also with Johnathan. All the gang are back but whether they can work together is open for debate.
I'm sorry that this series is over but I can't wait to see what the author thinks up next.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful, broken, perfecty imperfect journey

The Queen is the last book in The Masterpiece Duet and it’s so hard for me to write this review because I can’t believe this amazing series is over.
First of all, I have to admit my expectations were crazy high, I’ve been waiting a long time for Damon and Penny’s story and after The King I was literally counting the days to my most anticipated book of 2017: The Queen. The story begins a couple of years after The King’s events and I don’t want to give much away because in an epic story like this one, too much information can clearly damage the reading experience, so forgive me for being a little vague. I think it started slow but it kept building and building. Penny is in college and like the baby genius she always was, she’s a superstar academically. But socially, not so much. She thinks of Damon a lot but she knows that Damon and Tanglewood come hand in hand and the more time she spends away from home, the more she can see a future away from the darkness of her hometown. Or the more she tries to convince herself that there’s a future away from Damon. But then there’s a catalyst. And Penny knows that something is going on in Tanglewood. Something wrong. Something that might involve her father, Avery and Gabriel. And of course Damon Scott. Will Penny be able to solve the most important puzzle in her life?
Damon is leading his life like he always does. Always in control, commanding, dark and dangerous and forever lonely. Calculating, assessing, deflecting, ruling, protecting… But now, Penny’s in his doorstep again. Will Damon be able to protect her from the darkness this time?
Penny has an amazing sense of loyalty and strength. I already loved her but now everything about her is even sharper and the way she sees through Damon’s facade is mind blowing. Damon is probably one of the most engaging and compelling characters ever! Insanely complex and strong (probably one of the strongest characters I’ve read about, particularly when he reveals his weaknesses), Damon shattered my heart repeatedly and then he would just turn around to glue it back together. Definitely unconventional, broken, damaged and yet absolutely captivating and magnetic.
The chemistry and tension between Damon and Penny is intensely palpable, their connection is soul deep, all of their feelings are so raw and powerful that I was emotionally drained when I reached the end. I’ve got to say that the only reason I’m rating it 4.5 stars is because I felt that the story could go on a little longer, I wanted a little more… Maybe because my expectations were sky high or because I read it super fast but it did feel a little short. Maybe it’s just me.
Anyway, I really loved The Queen and I’m inconsolable after the end of this alluring, brilliant series. I’m not ready to move on! That’s how much I loved Damon, Penny and their wonderful, broken, perfectly imperfect journey.

5.0 out of 5 stars Penny
Verified PurchaseJust when her life is back on track someone comes along and destroys her life, but what's another bump in the road.
Definitely worth a read this series, penny is very vulnerable but so brilliant at maths, the games people play. With her it's almost brutal Yes there's romance but there's more here, she's not a victim she's a survivor. She wants a happily ever after and things to be simple, someone to love her and take care of her but there's so many wolves chasing this little lamb.
It's well written with good characters and dialogue. The storyline was simple and gripping, this whole series has been a delight from start to finish.

Verified PurchaseWhat i liked most is the H. He's almost impossible not to like. He took up all my rating.
Apart from that, and it's probably just me, but i felt like there wasn't enough story to fill up a two-books series.
I waited and waited for things to get more interesting, but i'm afraid it didn't really happen for me.
