Home Tears Kindle Edition

Home Tears is seriously good. Tijan's talent is almost irritating. She nailed this one! -- Kylie Scott NYT Bestselling author

Dani’s survived a lot of sh*t storms.
Her mother died. Her two sisters loathed her. One aunt hated her. The other was strangely distant, but the worst storm—being dumped by her childhood best friend/high school boyfriend/first love for her younger sister.
There went the one person who was hers and with that, the main reason she stuck around. So, she left for ten years. But now she’s back, and nothing’s the same.
With help from Jonah Bannon, a reformed—kind of—bad boy she remembers from high school, Dani uncovers family secrets that have spanned generations. And along with those, she’s about to face the biggest sh*t storm of her life.
Only this time, she may not survive.

**Full-length standalone.

*I'm reviewing a personal copy of this book for wicked reads review team*

I read this book in just a few hours, it was a total page turner.

Dani is home after something happened in her life and she needed time to heal herself. people in her small town thought she was dead and now she is back to deal with all the family drama she walked away from ten years ago. Will she stay and deal with all her family issues or will she run like she always does?
Everyone treats her as the girl who ran except for Jonah.

Jonah is loved by everyone in town, he could have any girl he wants; however what he wants is a challenge and who better than the girl that runs at the first sign of trouble.

The past is dragged up and family secrets come out of the woodwork. the book is full of twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages.

I loved this book. I loved the mystery and the main character trying to figure out her history and her family’s history. I like that all the characters are flawed and human. My only criticism is that it felt like the epilogue was rushed as did the final bits to be wrapped up. Well worth a read!

I read and loved Home Torn on Wattpad, and was expecting Home Tears to be practically the same. How wrong I was? It was even better. Home Tears had all the best bits of Home Torn with some even better bits added in the mix. We follow Dani as she returns to her hometown after 10 years. Having to deal with ex boyfriends, an aunt and a sister that hate her, along with a whole bunch of family issues, most of which are surrounded by secrets and lies. Add on to this the fact that she is running again from tragedy and loss and we have her past, her present and her future colliding Ina spectacular way. Wonderful story, interesting characters and with a love interest like Jonah (he was pretty much perfect), I couldn't fault it. I was hooked. Loved it.

I love Tijan's writing, but this one stumped me. It has an air of mystery and secrets, but when all is revealed I so do not get what the secrecies were for! None of the secrets were earth shattering but they apparently caused all the chaos and havoc (scratching my head here)! This book has left me with a lot of unanswered questions; why did the grandma want to hide where she was, how did the mother find out where the grandma was, why did Dani get an award when what happened to her happened out of the country, where is Oscar junior since he visited Erica, where did Erica's letter come from, the list goes on and on. Not at all amongst my favourite reads. I feel dissatisfied, an unusual feeling at the end of a Tijan book!

I cannot adequately describe this book but it’s worth at least ten stars! It’s nothing like Tijan’s other books except for how well it’s written.
Her writing has matured and so have the characters and storyline.
An emotional rollercoaster as secrets are uncovered and love found. No explicit sex scenes and none are needed. Not a book you can put down easily so be prepared.

I enjoyed this book alot.. and while i understood dani having to deal with all the demons in her closet and her experiences.. and others around her doing the same.. i didnt like how she still ended up with blame for the distance between her sisters..and why jake chose her sister. No matter that her sister loved him.. betraying your sister whether your close or not deserves an apology..and not just from her but also from Jake too.. I mean he knew how they each felt about one another but still had no qualms adding to the friction. And sleeping with all 3.. yuck!
Jonah on the other hand.. has my heart.

This book homes in on Tijan's strongpoints- conflict, strong female leads, emotional conflicts and dialogues and strong multidimensional characters and plot.

Dani reminded me of Taryn from the In Crowd, and even though these characters were supposed to be 10 years from graduating from high school- they were very cliquey and reminded me much of high school cliques. The novel begins a decade after Dani left her small town and focuses on the fall out of that.

I read this book- or whatever parts of it were on Tijan's website and am really happy that she published this one.

The pages turned constantly as the storyline was so captivating and emotional.
I loved this but I really felt sorry for boone, I understand why but that was the only time I got annoyed at dani. It was surprisingly gripping and obviously written with tenderness and love. Definitely worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exciting, heartfelt and emotional
Reviewed in Australia on 8 December 2016
This isn't just a romance – it’s so much more – it’s about family, fighting demons and finding yourself. I can see why the book itself is polarising because you have to like Dani our leading lady and share her triumphs and horrors, to really "feel" Home Tears – I didn't just like her, I admired her.
Dani O’Hara ran away 10 years ago, she’s a runner – she ran when her boyfriend and sister betrayed her, she ran the moment she may have found happiness and she ran when tragedy struck. However she’s finally stopped running and now she's back a changed woman, returning to her small town of Craigstown setting tongues a wagging. She's lost one sister, Erica, and she's estranged from her other sister Julia. She's no longer the girl who left, and as the story progresses we get to learn why she left all those years ago and what she's been through while she's been gone.
There was so much going on in “Home Tears” that I found the story to be exciting, heartfelt, emotional and very powerful. Dani was an admirable heroine. She was strong and resilient. Her journey to finding her happily-ever-after was fraught with trials and heartbreak, but in the end, I think she needed all that to really connect to who she was and where she came from. I highly recommend this book it kept me riveted.

    4.5 Stars!

    The Review:
    This isn’t just a romance...

I go into a Tijan read knowing I’m going to hit the mother load for angsts and come out in the end swooning. I love her books. They are always filled with crazy-out-there drama and a romance that I can read time and again. With Home Tears, I knew things were going to be a little different than her other books, but I had no idea just how different.

And I loved it! Every. Single. Bit. Of It!

Like I said, this is more than a romance. In fact, the romance sort of takes a backseat to the life of Dani O’Hara, her family and the townspeople of Craigstown. Of course, there is drama, there are buried secrets and the characters are incredibly lively ... all the things you’d expect from a great Tijan read. But there’s more. There’s so much more, if you just dig a little deeper and really take in the story this author is trying to tell.

    Story/Characters...
Dani O’Hara is a runner. She’s been running all her life. She ran by building walls around herself as a child, she ran the night her boyfriend and her sister betrayed her, she ran the moment she might have found happiness with another and she ran when tragedy struck. But now she’s back home in Craigstown and her reappearance after ten long years has sent the small town into a tailspin. Everyone is shocked. Everyone has something to say. And no one expected to ever see her again.

Jonah Bannon is a town hero. He’s worshiped by most and beloved by all. He could have his pick of any woman he wanted, especially in Craigstown, but the moment he sets his sights on Dani, he knows she’s the challenge he’s been waiting for.

Jake Cairns, Dani’s ex, has a bucket full of guilt. And when Dani comes back into his life, he’s thrown off balance. Julia O’Hara, Dani’s sister, isn’t pleased with her return either and drama unfolds as the sisters try to find their footing in a town two small for the both of them.

There’s also a mystery to solve. After returning home, Dani starts asking questions and soon realizes her family has more hidden secrets and lies between them than she ever thought possible. She’s come home to heal after the events that lead to her running again, but this time, she’s determined to stay and make peace with her past, but first, she has to find herself ... her true self. And with Jonah’s help, she might just be able to do that.

I loved Jonah and Dani’s chemistry. They were sweet and sexy and had a real connection as Dani was able to open up to him like she hadn’t been able to for anyone else. The drama, secrets and mystery surrounding the O’Hara family kept me glued to the pages, anxious to figure out what was going on and the incredible cast of entertaining characters brought the small town of Craigstown to life. And that dramatic ending isn’t one I’ll forget any time soon. I loved it!

    The Wrap Up:
There was so much going on in this read it and I found the story to be incredibly exciting, heartfelt, emotional and powerful. Dani was an admirable heroine. She was strong and resilient. Her journey to finding her happily-ever-after was fraught with trials and heartbreak, but in the end, I think she needed all that to really connect to who she was and where she came from.

This wasn’t just a romance.... For Dani and the people of Craigstown, it was a new beginning.
