Stella Hart is the hottest thing in country music. For ten years, she’s been Nashville’s darling. She’s pure, sweet, and a positive role model in an industry rife with scandals, sex, and sequins. Men want to own her, women want to be her—everyone wants a piece of her, and Stella? Well, she wants out.
As the center for the Calgary Crushers, Van Ross isn’t afraid of the spotlight, but he doesn’t much like it either. Despite his reputation as a player, the NHL’s bad boy lives for only two things: the game, and his younger brother. That’s why when he comes across a country music superstar seeking refuge at his home in the Canadian Rockies, he’s not too happy with the media sh*tstorm this surprise houseguest brings.
With a nationwide manhunt, paparazzi dogging their every move, producers of a reality TV show baying for blood, and a record label desperate to see their “good girl” returned safely home, Van and Stella’s lives are snowballing out of control. While Van would like nothing more than to show the purest of them all how well he handles his er ... stick, Stella is no puck bunny. Nor is she as innocent as she’d have the world believe.
With chemistry like theirs, tension runs high on and off the ice, but the end game is the same for both players: line up the puck, take the shot, and score. If only their hearts understood the play.
Puck fame and fortune. Puck right and wrong. Puck love.
Carmen Jenner is a USA Today and international bestselling author.
A hardcore red lipstick addict and a romantic at heart, Carmen enjoys books—duh!—long walks through Sephora, tattooed boys, and eyeliner so sharp it could kill a man. She lives in small-town, Australia, where she wrangles her two children, a French Bulldog named Busy, her Jungle Jag Python named Bunny, and her very own manchild.
Carmen always gives her characters the HEA they deserve, but not before ruining their lives completely first … because what’s a happily ever after without a little torture?
the hero is a man whore that gets a blowjob when they’re on a separation and she then proceeds to blame herself for his infidelity🙄. Hate cheating & pathetic doormats, no thanks.
Puck Love is a sweet, fun, emotional, sexy read. NHL player jokester Van and County singer good girl Stella were really good together. I liked them. They had a great connection from the moment they met. They made me laugh and smile. Loved the secondary characters too, they were so fun with their witty dialogue and actions. The story is easy to follow, full of humorous one liners, and plenty of sexiness. Great entertaining story!
This was a good read. I enjoyed Stella the most. She was brave, witty and real. Carmen always writes really great character banter. She is the one author that I actually get a lot of character development and depth from her dialogue alone. She rocks!
This was not like Carmen Jenner's usual writing style that I'm accustomed to. I think those of you who have kept up with this author's novels well know that this lady is not afraid to dip her hand in grit, madness and mayhem but somehow Puck Love did not venture into those recurrent themes.
Being the first ever sports romance for Jenner, I thought that Puck Love was witty, refreshing, and very steamy. I loved the banter and rapport between Van and Stella. It was obvious that these two were made for each other.
Oh, Van. Can I have this man to myself? His personality, oh how I loved how comical he could be and yet have this no holds barred kind of stance towards his sport, his family, and his new lady love, Stella.
As for Stella, I liked seeing Van bring a new side of her and allow her to grow and find herself. Growing up in the spotlight and always having your every move scrutinized, I appreciated that themes of self-identity, anxiety attacks, feeling out of control and suppression were brought out into those novel. This felt very realistic as I can only imagine what goes on in an celebrities mind from day to day and how they keep themselves sane.
Van is the hockey super star and Stella is country's golden gal. You can only imagine the world's microscopic eye and wanting to see some kind of scandal... or downfall.... or even a fairy tale ending between two celebrities.
While I have read my fair share of rock star books, I have only dabbled a bit here and there when it comes to the Sports sub-genre. Puck Love combines country music capital's sweet and innocent superstar, Stella, with Calgary NHL player (in both senses of the word), Van.
The author really does do a good job of writing two different worlds that crash together, quite literally, when Stella smashes her runaway SUV into the side of Van’s mountain. They meet in a flurry of emotion, and that sets the tone for their entire relationship. Highs and lows, up, down and back again, with some sideways and inside out mixed in. It actually got to the point where there was so much back and forth that I began to skim sections because I knew it was just going hot and cold yet again while they tried to figure out whether they had feelings for each other or wanted to punch the other’s face in. While I typically enjoy the emotional rollercoaster that goes with that journey, I didn’t feel like it allowed me to connect with the characters in a way that made me feel with them. That point in the book where my mouth is usually hanging open, in anticipation of THE moment, just didn’t come.
I did enjoy the banter, there were definitely some witty exchanges and parts that were laugh out loud funny. The flirtation between Stella and Van, especially in the first half, really kept the story moving. Van’s brother was front and center in a lot of this book, and I’d be interested to see how the author might approach a potential spin-off with this character. She definitely did her research when it came to the country music scene, as well as the sports scene, and I really didn’t find inconsistencies in the storyline or within the details. Overall, this was a good, minimal angst book that was easy to read and a nice change in pace for me.
I do love a great sports romance and one where there is action of the sport being played. That it is ice hockey 🏒 - bonus, love that game too!
I am late to the party reading this book, and I have seen a few reviews that I think would put me off if I saw them before purchasing. So I feel I need to make a few things clear - there is no cheating. The scene this refers to is when the couple are broken up, a girl forces herself on the MC, he stops her advances and kicks her out of his house with the rest of the party goers. That to me is not cheating.
Now that is off my chest, let me tell you the really good stuff. Van 😍 oh boy he was wonderful. I loved his cocky attitude, his sarcasm and dirty mouth. His loyalty and love for his brother was so endearing. I don’t think it waned any but I wanted more of it throughout the whole book. And who doesn’t love a sweet innocent country singer. Stella, the poor lass, was a super star but felt all alone and it was all work with no play. This is not good for anybody and it finely snapped with her. She needed a break and it came in the form of a hockey hottie. Their time together at Lodge Ross was at times adorable and others funny, their banter is a hoot. They way Stella took to Emmet, just goes to show you how lovely she was. 💗
Even though we are taking about a famous county singer meets NHL super star, the storyline had a very authentic feel to it. It wasn’t insta love nor was it a slow burn, it was more Goldilocks and just right. There was some toing and froing going on with their relationship status and it made for some angst and heartbreak. All in all, I recommend this one to a sports or second chance romance lover or anyone wanting a good HEA.
I've been looking forward to reading this one for a while, so I'm happy to say that I finally got a chance to.
Van and Stella's story is fun and entertaining and shows what life can be like for the rich and the famous - at least it shows one part of it anyways.
I love how Van was so fun and sassy right from the start and I really loved Emmett as well. I wish we got more of him in the second half of the book.
There's not a huge amount of angst in this book which is great. The characters have their trials and tribulations but for the most part it's fun, sassy and sexy. I love the banter between many of the characters and I really enjoyed reading this one.
I really hope we get a story for Lana and Eli too. Pretty please Carmen?!
This one made me fall in love with Canadians and Canada, and now I want to mark it off my bucket list even more. Definitely recommend.
Puck Love is a sweet, sexy story of the clash of two worlds. And Miss Jenner does it well
Van Ross, superstar hockey hottie, and Stella Hart, Nashville's sweetheart have absolutely nothing in common except fame, however this is what made them perfect together.
Right from the start, I couldn't help but feel for Stella, and all I can say is good on her for doing what she did.
The minute we meet Van and his interactions with his brother.... ovary explosion. Holy heck, you would have to have a heart of stone to not fall head over heels for him right then and there!
There is just something about a man who loves his family like he does that gets me.
And I couldn't help but get that Carrie and Mike vibe from this story.
I like this change of tack with Ms Jenner's writing. I have adored everything that she has written to date. This softer, sweeter side (with a lot less ripping my heart out) is exactly what I needed, and something we get a lot more of.
Now, Ms Jenner, please tell me that we will be getting Eli's story soon?
I can't wait to see what Ms Jenner brings us next.
I love Carmen Jenner Reads, she may be known for her Gritty, Angsty and Emotional reads. But even throughout those there's always some humour and witt. So when i heard she was writing her first sports romance i wasn't sure which way it was going to go. Puck Love was nothing like i expected it was freaking hilarious and so touching and emotional at times my heart dropped then soared.
Stella Hart is Country music's golden girl but the strain of being held so high is starting to take it's toll, she's burned out. She runs from her fans, her management and her label. That is until she's crashes into the side of a snowy mountain in Canada.
Van Ross is a NHL Hockey Star. He's a player and player, he's blunt and cocky. On his way home with his younger brother he finds a stranded car crashed in a snow drift at the side of "his mountain". He never in a million years expected to find his brothers biggest obsession Country's golden girl Stella Hart, and he would never have thought that this woman would be the one to turn his world upside down!!!
Van was arrogant and everything we love in a bad boy alpha male. Oh but then the side we got to see with his brother Emmett was so heartwarming with hilarious banter. They weren't just brothers they were best friends and i adored them together.
Stella was a great character she may have come across as sweet and innocent but she gave as good as she got when it came to Van. Her relationship with Emmett was beautiful all she saw was him and i loved that!!
This read is a great feel good sports, rom-com romance filled with humorous one-liners and a ton of sexual innuendos. Definitely a must read and i'm really hoping Carmen carries on and gives us Eli and the ballbuster's story!!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Stella Hart is the hottest thing in country music. For the past ten years she has been Nashville's sweetheart. She is also a positive role model in an industry filled with scandals, sex and sequins. Mean want to own her and woman want to be her. Everyone wants a piece of Stella. All Stella wants though is out.
Van Ross is a center for the Calgary Crushers and isn't afraid of the spotlight but he is not a huge fan of it either. He may have a reputation as a NHL bad boy but he lives only for the game and his younger brother. He never expected to meet up with one of country musics hottest superstars let alone let her seek refuge in his home in the Canadian Rockies. He is however not to happy with the media mess the surprise house guest brings. Oh my goodness I loved this book so freaking much. I laughed in so many places and swooned about a million times. The things that come out of Van's mouth didn't fail to crack me up and I have to say he is one smooth operator. Puck love is both a funny and sweet story that is emotional too. To say these two had chemistry from the moment they met is a understatement. I loved too how Van loved and cared for his brother. It so melted my heart. There is something for every reader in this book. It is one of my favorite reads of 2017.
As always Carmen Jenner had me from the first word and I was so sad to see this book end. I could have spent forever with these characters. If you pick up only one book this year to read I have to recommend Puck Love. There is just no way you will not love this book.
Oh my gosh Puck Love is sooooo good get your one click fingers ready and your kindles charged because this is one read you do not want to miss out on. I've read a few stories by Carmen Jenner that I really liked but this has got to be by far my favorite and I hope to see more of theses characters in the future . Loved the chemistry between Stella and Van the way they meet is done in such a uniquely funny way , the build up for their relationship is set to the perfect pace and when they get together after all the foreplay banter lets just say your gonna need to fan yourself aloooot . Stella is such a great heroine I felt bad for her when she describes how lonely she is even when she's surrounded by millions of people the more she hangs out with Van and his brother she ends up not feeling so alone anymore she blossoms beautiful through the book . Ok Van is pure hunky hockey players it usually takes me time to fall for heroes in sports romances but that isn't the case for this hero because I fell for him in his first point of view chapter , he's funny , can be sweet at times , the way he is with his brother is amazing , he can cook , loves animals ,and has many talents in and out of the bedroom . You'll not want to put your kindles or any other reading objects down while you devour Puck Love it's just that good . I'm hoping the secondary characters will get their own stories . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero=10 heroine=10 secondary characters=10 Chemistry=10 steam=10 romance=9 humor=8 darkness level=3 action=3 mystery=4 enjoyment=10 angst=3 story line=10 Story ending=10 character development=10 pacing=10 Plot=10 cover=10 stars=5 author=10 would I recommend this book=yes would I re read this book=yes would I read future books by this author=yes
I have read a few books by this author and this may be the first authors first foray into the sports romance world and a bit lighter than I'm used to from her. The delivery was smooth and the humor was spot on and had me laughing the whole way through. While there wasn't much emphasis on the hockey world, I was completely sold on the hot hockey player. I was completely captivated from the moment I saw that cover till I finished the book less than 24 hours later. I have to say that I love this lighter side to Carmen Jenner's writing and I can't wait to read more!
Puck Love was fun yet it still maintained the emotional and sweet aspect from Carmen Jenner's writing style. It was angsty and sweet yet still emotional and I might have a shed a tear or two. The chemistry between Van and Stella was off the charts sexy and steamy. I loved the premise of this book. A southern belle country singer meets sexy Canadian hockey player and they couldn't be more perfect for one another. Hiding from the media and paparazzi, Stella seeks refuge at his home.
Van is sexy and charming with a sense of humor and above all else, he loves his brother, Emmett, more than anything. Emmett was a great addition to the story and I loved his relationship with Van. Van and Stella have tons of sexual tension and angst between them and their connection is intense. There romance isn't one without a few bumps and bruises a long the way and nowhere near perfect but I absolutely loved their story. I cannot wait for more from this awesome author!
Carmen Jenner scores with PUCK LOVE. NHL bad boy, Van Ross, rescues country music sweetheart, Stella Hart, when she is stranded during a snow storm. Van is not good for Stella’s image, but they cannot deny their chemistry. This contemporary sports romance takes place in Calgary and Nashville. It is suitable for adult audiences.
PUCK LOVE is a fun romance. The characters are likeable. Van is a good guy. He is an awesome big brother to Emmett, who has Down syndrome. Stella is a gracious character. It is understandable why she freaks out. She hasn’t had much of a life outside of performing. Her mother dies when her career was just starting, and she doesn’t have any family. She is great with Emmett, treating him with respect. As different as Stella and Van are, they also have a lot of similarities and amazing chemistry. They understand what it means to be a celebrity, but can be themselves around each other. They are good together.
I love Sigi the otter. The meaning of her name made me laugh, very clever.
The plot was entertaining. There were some unexpected twists. The story held my interests throughout the novel. I could see PUCK LOVE as a movie. This is the first book that I have read by Carmen Jenner. I enjoyed her writing style and would read something by her again. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
I loved how cocky and funny Van was. Also he with Emmet stole my heart, and melted me on the spot. Such an amazing guy. His playful side was simply a delight for me.
“Van, what happened to my panties?” He grins. “I took one look at them and they just disintegrated into thin air. That happens quite a bit when I’m around.”
I enjoyed this happy-go-lucky story from this author at the beginning, but things started to go just a bit flat for me towards the end, and the adorableness of Van disappeared somewhere, and he was just coarse most of the time. Also Stella started to act really stupid later on - let's call it a magic dick killed my brain cells effect. If you want to check out this book go read other reviews, because it might be the case of book slump I'm in now. That said I adore Carmen and her stories, this one just wasn't my fave.
There is a part of me that feels like I'm rating this too high but you know what who cares. This was so much fun, I loved it. I loved Stella and Van, their banter and their hot chemistry. Overall I just really enjoyed this book.
This was extremely entertaining. It was a quick, sexy read. But... it left SO much to be desired. I don't think this author knows anything about Hockey- or Canadians for that matter. I had many issues with the childish nature of the male protagonist and the attitudes of fellow players. Professional athletes, despite their "alpha male" statuses, shouldn't be read as immature frat boys. I also had issues with the entire 'country music star' side of this story as well. The drama was ridiculous and also lacked realism for music industry professionals. This was hot, but the lack of depth and development in the characters, along with the abundance of typos made this one a miss for me.
This maybe Carmen Jenner's first foray into sports romance and a lighter side but it works well. The delivery is good and humor spot on. While not much hockey action but a hot hockey hero I'm sold. This read so smooth like butter and hard to put down once you start. I have to say I like this side of Carmen Jenner's and would like some more pls. So I hope it's not the last. A good change of pace.
It's fun yet it still maintains the authors style of emotional and sweet. The chemistry between Van and Stella is off the charts and definitely loads of steamy. I liked the premise of the book. A celebrity singer and a NHL player with a Canadian setting, across borders you don't get that everyday. It's not as simple as it seems though, Stella having to deal with her anxiety and issues in her seclusion in the Van's cabin. They both seem so different but got along.
Van is a charming guy with a sense of humour and loves his brother. Emmett, his brother, was great addition to the story. As did his teammate Eli. Van and Stella had tons sexual tension slowly building that is hard to ignore. It may have started fast but the connection is intense. They might have not known a snow drift would bring them together. A adorable and cute romance is the start. It's only the start for then the time apart, distance and a few bumps in the road isn't new but takes a toll. Add lot of shenanigans and a ballbuster manager. Stella and Van has their work cut out for them.
It somewhat slowed down at ending but it still maintained the flow. While I can't be the judge Canadian-isms itself. As a hockey fan though I have to say, a Calgary team and Preds would ever meet in the Stanley Cup finals not possible. As both teams are Western Conference teams, maybe if it changes yes. Still the story itself was well done . I'm hoping pretty please Eli will get a book it would be juicy. All in all, it was entertaining and enjoyable read. I look forward to more from this side of the author as well as her others.
Puck Love by Carmen Jenner is a sweet rom/com set in beautiful rocky mountains of Alberta, Canada. A country starlet who's had enough meets a hockey hero who's always been know for his playboy ways. I loved the flow of this story and how easy it was to fall in love with these characters. Van is everyone's dream hockey hunk, personally I pictured Tyler Seguin while I was reading this story - Purrrr... Stella had me picturing a young Carrie Underwood when she first started to date Mike Fisher. Carmen nailed the Canadian-isms and I adored the "special pet" Van had. Overall Puck love is a fun, spicy read with heart and emotion. 5 Pucking Stars for Puck Love by Carmen Jenner
*** Reviewed for Sweet & Spicy Reads - ARC provided for an honest review ***
When news of Puck Love hit the interwebs I was instantly intrigued, I mean talk of a book from Carmen Jenner without death and destruction... without rape or torture... a book that's fun and light and won't make me shriek or cry.... GET OUT OF TOWN....I knew I *needed* this book like I needed my next breath. It's not secret I've been on a happy book binge of late, give me happy and laugh out loud funny and I'll be all over it like ...well myself at a Tieks sale.
Stella Hart is the undisputed GOOD GIRL of the Country music scene, she's loved by little girls, teenage boys and parents alike, the World is her stage and she *seems* like she's got everything figured out. Unfortunately for Stella, she's just barely holding on. Suffering from crippling anxiety, each SOLD OUT show on her Tour seems harder to get ready for, each night the voices and fears getting louder and louder and harder to hide away.
When Stella finally has had enough and makes a break for it, hilarity ensues, and for maybe the first time in a long time she can breathe without feeling like drowning. I remember listening people talking about anxiety years ago and not really getting it. I mean sure panic attacks seemed legitimate enough, but it was still in the abstract, I mean surely anxiety couldn't possibly be *that* bad. Funny isn't it, that earlier this year I found myself huddled in the corner of my bedroom mid panic attack trying to remind myself how to breathe with tears running down my face, so anxious over an upcoming signing that the thought of not packing the right clothes left me a bleary eyed mess. As I read the opening chapters of Puck Love I FINALLY *got* it, I understood Stella in my bones, I understood inherently why running was the ONLY option she could live with, I felt a soul deep connection to Jenner's words, it was the most holy of UH HAAAA moments, in the most unlikely of places.
"You wanna try on your own?" "No, don't let go." "You looking for an excuse to hold my hand, country?" "No, I'm afraid of falling." "But that's the best part." He grins, squeezes my hand tighter, and I have a feeling he's right.
While I may have had a earth shattering connection to Puck Love in the opening chapters what followed was a fun filled adventure as Van the BADBOY of Ice Hockey crosses paths with Stella the enteral GOODGIRL of country music, and boy did Stella give him a run for his money. Van The Man, strong and stoic, the man who wants nothing more than to flatten anyone who gets in his way on the ice, and keep his life off the ice private. From the outside Van looks like the typical sports star, but beneath the bravado and icy glare - he's a man who's ready for something real away from the ice. And Stella, well Stella has wanted real for as long as she can remember and for the first time in a long time, she might have found someone who will give that to her.
Jenner keeps us enthralled with her trademark blend of snarky banter and tantalising sexual chemistry, but where she truly flexes her muscles is delivering a story that doesn't rely on emotion and angst to deliver something thrilling, from a quirky beginning that had me genuinely invested to a story about two people who as poster children for the lifestyle's of the rich and famous shouldn't be entirely relatable but inherently made Puck Love a book that was not only easy to devour but to love, leaving this reader smiling long after she turned the last page.
Ok, this story is so hot it could melt the Canadian ice and snow! Loved the characters and how they were such opposites until they realized they both had their own reasons for being the people they are and dealing with their issues. Stella is America's country sweetheart, but just can't handle the pressures of her celebrity, so she makes a run for it and ends up right in a snow pile on the side of a mountain. She gets rescued by a huge (hmmmm) mountain man and his brother and later finds out it is none other than NHL bad boy, Van Ross. Stella is able to relax like she hasn't been able to in years and try to deal with some of her demons, but can't seem to deny the chemistry between her and Van. Van doesn't do relationships and doesn't bring women to the home he shares with his brother, but when Stella happens upon them, all bets are off. This story has humor, heat, and hockey! Plus there are some intertwined stories that are just as good as the main one, especially Emmett's. Loved how Van's brother is a huge part of the story. Would love to read Eli's story!
As a big fan of sports romances AND Carmen Jenner, I was absolutely delighted when it was announced she would be releasing a sports romance novel.
I was curious to read the lighter side of this author, as she is known for darker grittier themes and while I certainly have no doubt of her exceptional talent, I have to admit that I did wonder a tiny bit how she would pull it off.
After reading this book, it is clear that there is nothing this author can’t do!
Puck Love is full of clever laugh out loud one-liners, a hot dirty talking alpha male, a sweet and sassy heroine that is more than what she seems and can give as good as she gets, and tons of sexual tension!
Combine that with a touch of tear shedding angst and an excellent cast of side characters and what you have is all the greatness that makes for one amazing read!

This book is amazing and completely not what I expected. It's a mash of a sports and rockstar (country) book and it works so well. I laughed heaps through this book, with the one liners and sexual innuendos it just leaves you feeling really happy.
I devoured this book in 24hrs and even when I was out doing my day to day tasks I had to keep picking it up and reading. I needed to know what happened next and the wait was just painful. The characters are brilliant and I completely love sassy take no nonsense Stella aka Country. Van was a smart mouthed sex God on the ice in the world is hockey. Their world's collide and the magic happens. I thoroughly enjoyed every single word.
This book is a huge recommend from me and I really love the way the story flowed. Even the down parts made me smile in a weird way. But I guarantee you defintely wont be sorry when you read this.
It was hilarious and full of sexy tension reading!
A love story about Van Ross, NHL player and Stella Hart, country singer. She wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of her career. Not exactly what she expected, she hits the snowy town in the mountains of Canada. And there she meets smoking hot and cranky guy, Van Ross, who gives her place to hide out. He is a playboy, but he also has a brother about whom he really cares. They is a lot of chemistry, but also a lot of uncertainty between them.
This is the opposites attract kind of story. Sweet, full of laugh and banter dialogues and scenes. Well developed storyline with amazing characters, who you grown to like very much. You will not find here annoying characters. And I love romances with athletes so it could not be otherwise.
Carmen Jenner, you rock! You've given us small town humour, bikie brawn, damaged souls healed by love, and lovers torn apart by circumstances beyond their control. And now you give us a country music star teetering on the precipice of self annihilation and the Canadian ice hockey hunk who rescues her... and what a brilliant pairing this is! I always love your characters, and Stella and Van are right up there with my favourites. This is a really well crafted story that's sucked me in from the first page and kept me up reading until well past my bedtime! Now I've finished the final page I just want more, please!!
Nothing worked for me in this book and I'm so sad that I didn't liked it.
I never believed in the attraction Van & Stella have. I never see why they were trying so hard to be with each other when everything set them apart. And what's really made my eyes rolls more than once was all the drama around Stella. It's what too much and sometimes not believable.
It happens, that won't change my mind about Carmen Jenner, and I'll still be here waiting for her next book.
~I voluntary read a copy of the book provided by the author~
4 stars Hockey Hottie meets Sweet Country Singer. I absolutely loved the story line. The beginning through the middle was enticing and kept my attention. I enjoyed the banter and love blooming between Stella and Van. They’re from different worlds, but at the same time they need each other at this moment in their lives. Van saves her in more ways than one, and she in turn shows him how love can be. The ending was a little too predictable for me, but I still enjoyed it. I would recommend this hockey romance! *ARC received in exchange for honest review*
Two totally opposite worlds accidentally collide in this novel! Famous Hockey player Van and famous country singer Stella. The first few chapters were edge of the seat what's going to happen next, from then on it was a very sweet love story. There was some great laughs to be had all the way through the book, and I love Vans brother Emmett, and his friend Eli!
